How to store a query containing more than 15000 characters in a variable of nvarchar(max)

If you are concatenating multiple strings together to make a nvarchar(max), and the result is too long to store in the largest possible regular regular nvarchar (that is nvarchar(4000), you must be sure the concatenation is done as nvarchar(max).  If
you don't, each of the concatenations is done according to the type of each operand.  And, if the two things being concatenated are both (for example) nvarchar(20), then the result is nvarchar(40) because 20+20 is 40.  But if the two things being
concatenated are both nvarchar(3000), the result does not become nvarchar(max), it is nvarchar(4000) - because 3000 + 3000 is 6000, but that's two big, so you get 4000.  For a simple example
Declare @Result nvarchar(max), @Input1 nvarchar(3000), @Input2 nvarchar(3000);
Set @Input1 = Replicate('a', 3000);
Set @Input2 = Replicate('b', 3000);
Set @Result = @Input1 + @Input2;
Select 'Test1', Len(@Result), Len(@Input1), Len(@Input2);
Set @Result = Cast(@Input1 As nvarchar(max)) + @Input2;
Select 'Test2', Len(@Result), Len(@Input1), Len(@Input2);
In Test1, the two 3000 character nvarchars are concatenated together, but the result is truncated to nvarchar(4000).  That is then put in an nvarchar(max), but the result is already truncated to 4000 characters, so in Test1 the length of @Result is
4000.  In Test2, the first operand is converted to nvarchar(max), so the concatenation result is nvarchar(max) and you get the length you expect in @Result (that is, 6000).
So the solution to your problem is to force the first item in your concatenation to be of type nvarchar(max).  Then the result of the concatenation of the first and second will be nvarchar(max), then SQL concatenates the third term and gets nvarchar(max),
etc.  So the final result contains the whole string you want.  So you want to do
CAST(' SELECT A.[EmployeeCode] ,A.[EmployeeId] ,A.[Name],A.[DepartmentCode],A.[DesignationCode]
, A.[CompanyCode] ,A.[Department] ,A.[Designation] ,A.[Entity]
, A.[GovtAdministrativeAreaCode] ,A.[WorkingUnitCode],A.[WorkingUnitName]
, isnull(L.WorkingDays ,0) as TotalWorkingDays ,isnull(K.DelayHr,0) as DelayHr
, isnull(J.OTHr,0) as OTHr ,isnull(B.[4Hr],0) as [4Hr]

, isnull(M.[LessThan4Hr] ,0) as [LessThan4Hr]
, isnull (N.NoOfNoOutTime,0) as NoOfNoOutTime
INTO ' AS nvarchar(max))
+@tableName+'
--- Etc for the rest of your expression

  • SQ01 Output fields having more than 255 characters

    Hello,
I need to show query output more than 255 charaters but system is not allowing
    Here is the Error message:
List is wider than 255 characters (generation not possible)
I used SQ01 as t-code to create query.
How can i show my output more than 255 characters
    Thanks

Refer SAP Note 857823, ALV grid cannot display more than 128 characters per field and will truncate all the characters beyond if it's an ABAP program
From my experience it will not display the field at all in SQ01.
You need to write an abap program and split the field into two fields of length 128 and display side by side.
Work around:  If you cannot write abap program uncheck (no display in query) that field in SQ02 and generate it. Execute your query and copy the key field use se16n to input in the key fields and use import to excel sheet function to get the required data.

how can i join more than 20 tables which contains more than 5 lacks records

If you're trying to join 20 tables I would check:
    - Are all the joins necessary. It's easy sometimes to just join to another table because you're unsure as to whether it's required.
    - What sort of application is it? 20 joins seems a lot to me. Are you trying to achieve too much with one query? Is it possible to break the problem down?
    - If it is necessary to join so many tables then force the use of hash joins in the query, especially if you're processing a lot of data and want the best throughput. If you want a quicker response, this will not be a appropriate.

Can any one give me clue ,how to find out which sub query returns more than one row in the following query .This is why smaller, simpler queries are easier to work with than huge ones - when something like this goes wrong smaller queries are much eaiser to debug. Unfortunately using smaller, easier-to-work with queries is not always an option
Ganesh is right - you will have to dissect the big query bit by bit until you find the offending subquery. If there is another way I would like to find out about it too.
The easiest way to do this is probably to use block comments to isolate parts of the query bit by bit until you find the offending part. If you carefully examine the subqueries you might be able to figure out which one is returning multiple rows without commenting everything
    Good luck!

  • How to create an iBOT which contains more than one dashboard page

    Hi,
I want to create an iBOT which delivers the content in HTML or PDF format, but to contain more than one dashboard page. The idea is that I have several dashboards and I want to send by e-mail (by iBOT) most important pages from different dashboards.
Is it possible to send by a single e-mail different pages from different dashboards? I cannot find an way to accomplish this in the content of delivery in iBOT.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Yes, I can add them to a briefing book, but the clients that will receive it by e-mail should have the briefing book reader in order to view the contents. Is there any way to send the briefing book in a PDF format?
    Thank you.

  • Why are some properties collections, can they really contain more than 1 item?

I notice that sometimes an objecthas a property that I would expect to be singular, but is exposed as a collection. For instance, TextFrame.texts is a collection of Text objects. But how could a textFrame contain more than one Text object?
And related to this topic, why does the Text object have a property Texts? What could be in that for a given text?
    Thanks!

1.This morning upon bootup from complete shutdown, I had like 3 or 4 windows open up.
Auto resume feature of Lion. To disable the feature:
Launch System Preferences and click on the “General” icon
At the bottom of the “Number of recent items” list, uncheck the checkbox next to “Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps”
    2. Likely tied to above. How can I close, shut down completely programs? I hit the red X then it still shows the white dot under the application in the dock. For example, I use Chrome. I only opened up Safari a few times when I 1st got this yesterday. However, I have a white dot under Safari.
after you close out the program, when you see the light still under the programs icon in the dock, right click and select quit.
    3. Is there anyway to add a application from the dock to stick in Launchpad?
not that I am aware of.  This doesn't mean it's not possible.  It just means if there is a way, I am not familiar with how to accomplish this.

  • The "Measures" dimension contains more than one hierarchy... Collation issue

It appears that an Excel query pased through to SSAS has a "measures" with lowercase "m" when analysis services expects an uppercase "M" so it should look like "Measures". Is there a fix in excel to allow
the correct passing of "Measures" member name to the cube?
BTW, I have NO Calculations in the cube.
In excel 2013 when I pivot with a pivot table connected to a case sensitive collation (non default config)
cube and perform a filter by "Keep only Selected Items" I get the error "The 'Measures' dimension contains more than one hierarchy, therefore the hierarchy must be explicity specified".
When I revert back to server wide setting to case insensitive, and I preform the exact same pivoting function it works without error. The problem appears to be that excel does not understand the server collation setting.
When I run SQL Server Profilier I narrowed down the MDX statement run in Excel that gives me an error to this:
    with
    member measures.__XlItemPath as
    Generate(
    Ascendants([Employee].[Location Code].currentmember),
    [Employee].[Location Code].currentmember.unique_name,
    "|__XLPATHSEP__|"
    member measures.__XlSiblingCount as
    Generate(
    Ascendants([Employee].[Location Code].currentmember),
    AddCalculatedMembers([Employee].[Location Code].currentmember.siblings).count,
    "|__XLPATHSEP__|"
    member measures.__XlChildCount as
    AddCalculatedMembers([Employee].[Location Code].currentmember.children).count
    select { measures.__XlItemPath, measures.__XlSiblingCount, measures.__XlChildCount } on columns,
    [Employee].[Location Code].&[01W]
    dimension properties MEMBER_TYPE
    on rows
    from [Metrics]
    cell properties value
Playing around with the query I discovered that if I capitalize the first letter of the "with measures" member, the statement works.
    with
    member Measures.__XlItemPath as
    Generate(
    Ascendants([Employee].[Location Code].currentmember),
    [Employee].[Location Code].currentmember.unique_name,
    "|__XLPATHSEP__|"
    member Measures.__XlSiblingCount as
    Generate(
    Ascendants([Employee].[Location Code].currentmember),
    AddCalculatedMembers([Employee].[Location Code].currentmember.siblings).count,
    "|__XLPATHSEP__|"
    member Measures.__XlChildCount as
    AddCalculatedMembers([Employee].[Location Code].currentmember.children).count
    select { measures.__XlItemPath, measures.__XlSiblingCount, measures.__XlChildCount } on columns,
    [Employee].[Location Code].&[01W]
    dimension properties MEMBER_TYPE
    on rows
    from [Metrics]
    cell properties value
Also, I realise that I could change the collation on just the cube itself to case insenstive to get this to work, but I really don't want to do an impact analysis of running a mixed collation environment.
So, my question is: Is there an excel fix that will allow me to run a case sensitve cube and allow me to click on filter and filter by "keep only selected items" or "Hide selected Items"? All other filtering works, it's only those two
    filtering options error for me.
Here are the versions I'm working with:
    Excel 2013 (15.0.4535.1507) MSO(15.0.4551.1007) 32-bit Part of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013
Microsoft Analysis Server Enterprise 2012 11.0.3000.0
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi, i assume this logic is for Dimension formula?
If you have multiple hierarchy like ParentH1 and ParentH2 you should use FormulaH1 and FormulaH2 and not FORMULA column.
    in FORMULAH1
    [Account.H1].[Account_A] / [Account.H1].[Account_B]

  • How to use same page fragment more than once in a page,

    Hi Gurus,
How to use same page fragment more than once in a page. I have a complex page fragment which has lots of Bindings (Binding Property set with backingBean variables).
I want to use the same page fragment multiple times on the same page with different tabs.
I want different ApplicationModule Instance for the page fragment in different tabs.
So I have created a Bounded Taskflow with pagefragments which has this complex pagefragment.
I've dragged the taskflow to page and created regions.
I'm able to execute the page successfully when I have only one region but fails if I have region more than once in the page.
Can anyone help me how to resolve this issue.
Web User Interface Developer's Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework: section 19-2 states we can have same pagefragment more than once in a page.

  • In Query mode, date items does not accepts more than 10 characters..Why?

    Dear All,
In my form, While querying my date items, it does not accepts more than 10 Characters. Could it be changeable.
Actually i want to search like greater than specified date( >01/01/2007 ).
But i can specify like >01/01/07. After tabbing out from that item, it displays like >01/01/200.
    How to overcome this issue.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Balaji

    You are absoletely correct Francois!
Previously i have made a mistake that both of my maximum length and query length property to 20. That time it was not worked. Now i changed my maximum length to the old one like 11 and i changed only the query length to 20.
Now it is working. I understood the concept wrongly.
    Thanks Francois!

  • Ldap search query takes more than 10 seconds

LDAP query takes more than 10 seconds to execute.
For validating the policy configured, the Acess Manager(Sun Java System Access Manager) contacts the LDAP (Sun Java System Directory Server 6.2) to get the users in a dynamic group. The time out value configured in Access Manager for LDAP searches is 10 seconds.
Issue : The ldap query takes more than 10 seconds to execute at some times .
The query is executing with less than 10 seconds in most of the cases, but it takes more than 10 seconds in some cases. The total number of users available in the ldap is less than 1500.
    7 etime =1
    6 etime =1
    102 etime=4
    51 etime=5
    26 etime=6
    5 etime=7
    4 etime=8
From the ldap access logs we can see the following entry, some times the query takes more than 10 seconds,
    [28/May/2012:14:21:26 +0200] conn=281 op=41433 msgId=853995 - SRCH base="dc=****,dc=****,dc=com" scope=2 filter="(&(&(***=true)(**=true))(objectClass=vfperson))" attrs=ALL
    [28/May/2012:14:21:36 +0200] conn=281 op=41434 msgId=854001 - ABANDON targetop=41433 msgid=853995 nentries=884 etime=10
The query was aborted by the access manger after 10 seconds.
Please post your suggestions to resolve this issue .
1.How we can find out , why the query is taking more than 10 seconds ?
2.Next steps to resolve this issue .

    Hi Marco,
    Thanks for your suggestions.
Sorry for replying late. I was out of office for few weeks.
    1) Have you already tuned the caches? (entry cache, db cache, filesystem cache?)
We are using db cache and we have not done any turning for cache. The application was working fine and there was no much changes in the number of users .
    2) Unfortunately we don't have direct access to the environment and we have contacted the responsible team to verify the server health during the issue .
Regarding the IO operations we can see that, load balancer is pinging the ldap sever every 15 seconds to check the status of ldap servers which yields a new connection on every hit. (on average per minute 8 connections - )
    3) We using cn=dsameuser to bind the directory server. Other configuration details for ldap
LDAP Connection Pool Minimum Size: 1
    LDAP Connection Pool Maximum Size:10
Maximum Results Returned from Search: 1700
    Search Timeout: 10
Is the Search Timeout value configured is proper ? ( We have less than 1500 user in the ldap server).
Also is there any impact if the value Maximum Results Returned from Search = set to 1700. ( The Sun document for AM says that the ideal value for this is 1000 and if its higher than this it will impact performance.
The application was running without time out issue for last 2 years and there was no much increase in the number of users in the system. ( at the max 200 users added to the system in last 2 years.)
    Thanks,
    Jay

  • QUERY TAKES MORE THAN 30 MINUTES AND IT'S CANCELED

    Hi
I have one workbook and sometimes it takes more than 30 minutes to be executed, but Discoverer cancels it, Does anybody know how to alter this? I mean if the query takes more than 30 minutes i need it to be finished.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Best Regards
    Yuri López

    Hi
You need to alter the timeout settings and these are located in multiple places.
Discoverer Plus / Viewer using this workflow:
    1. Edit the pref.txt file on the server located here: $ORACLE_HOME\discoverer\util
    2. Locate the preference called Timeout and change it to your desired value in seconds. The default is 1800 which means 30 minutes
    3. Save pref.txt
    4. Execute applypreferences.bat if running on Windows or applypreferences.sh if running on Linux or Unix
    5. Stop and restart the Discoverer server
    Discoverer Administrator using this workflow:
    1. Launch Discoverer Administrator
    2. From the menu bar, select Tools | Privileges
    3. Select the user
    4. Open the Query Governor tab
    5. If "Prevent queries from running longer than" is checked, increase the limit
    6. Click OK
Note: if "Prevent queries from running longer than" is not checked then the Timout in the pref.txt controls how long before the queries stop. If it is checked and it is lower than Timeout you need to increase it.
Let me know if this helps
    Best wishes

  • Single Sub Row Query Returns More Than 1 Row!

I am trying to update values in a table from another table and getting the error: Single Sub Row Query Returns More Than 1 Row.
    I want table B's PRV_NAME updated into table A's PRV_NAME where A.PRVID = B.PRVID where B.PRV_TYPE = M'
Both tables have all unique PRVID's, however, table B has PRVID's that have the same name. So table B data can look like this:
    PRVID PRV_NAME
    1234 PHOENIX MED
    1235 SAC MED
    1236 SAC MED
    1237 OVERLAND
    etc..
So, as you can see the PRVID's are unique, but not the PRV_NAME's. Is this the reason why I get this error?
I did not build the tables and have no control over what is put in them. If this is the reason for the error, is there any way to resolve this?
For reference, here is the query. Maybe there is something wrong with this?
    update msb_prv_source ps
    set ps.prv_name =
    (select prv00.prv00_prv_name
    from prv00_prv prv00
    join msb_prv_source ps
    on prv00.prv00_prv_id = ps.prvid
    where prv00.prv00_prv_type = 'M')

I am trying to update values in a table from another table and getting the error: Single Sub Row Query Returns More Than 1 Row. Post your code. It's hard to say what you're doing wrong when I don't know what you're doing.
    I want table B's PRV_NAME updated into table A's PRV_NAME where A.PRVID = B.PRVID
Both tables have all unique PRVID's, however, table B has PRVID's that have the same name. So table B data can look like this:
PRVIDIf b.prvid is really unique, then
    UPDATE  a
    SET     prv_name = (
                     SELECT  prv_name
                     FROM    b
                     WHERE   a.prvid     = b.prvid
;should work, whether the other columns are unique or not.
(Depending on your data and your requirements, you might want to use MERGE rather than UPDATE).
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
In the case of a DML operation (such as UPDATE) the sample data should show what the tables are like before the DML, and the results will be the contents of the changed table(s) after the DML.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say what version of Oracle you're using (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).

I see you've posted your code now:
    update msb_prv_source ps
    set ps.prv_name =
    (select prv00.prv00_prv_name
    from prv00_prv prv00
    join msb_prv_source ps
    on prv00.prv00_prv_id = ps.prvid
where prv00.prv00_prv_type = 'M')Even if ps.prvid is unique, the sub-query can return more than 1 row if prv00.prv00_prv_id is not unique. When that that's the case, what do you want to happen? Include examples when you post the sample data and desired results.
