How to submit report link?

hi all,
i have a region with an sql report. one column will be used as a link.
i have a text item in the page which is blank at first. P1_ID
i have a branch that branches to the same page.
i have another region, with an sql that has a query of "select * from table where column1 = :P1_ID".
whenever a user clicks on a link, i want to get the corresponding ID of that records and place it on P1_ID and then submits the page which refreshes the second region and shows records based on that id.
how do i do this? do i need to create javascript for this?

Hi Allen,
in your link column you can specify not only which page should be called when clicking this link, but also which page item should be set to which value.
In your case you would set the P1_ID to the value of your report column.

Hi -- I have a Report link on a column, and I want to set an item to one of the report columns which contains URL values (like "http://...."). If I do that, the URL ends up in the hyperlink and is not escaped, so the colon confuses things. How do I get the report column to be escaped?

You can convert the colon to whatever you like in your select statement but you cannot supply a colon as part of an item value field in an f?p URL.

I would like to know If any one has tried submitting a concurrent request from Discoverer Report?_
This is no stupid question, but our team here finally decided with a solution to our long pending issues with few of the discoverer report. To Proceed further, we would like to know, how to submit a concurrent request from Discoverer report?
We are looking for calling a package from the Disco admin by passing the parameters from the disco to the 6i report.
All help us in this regards are much appreciated.

I will be trying the same today and will let you know if I succeed in doing it.
If I can share the actual requirement with you, it goes like this.
"I will be triggering the Oracle 6i standard AP Trail balance report through the Disco report. The standard report will be inserting the required data to one of my custom table. Once the concurrent program completes normal, my custom table will be having the required data to create the workbook specific to the current run of the concurrent program.
The one problem which I think could happen is, How can I make my disco report to wait till the standard program to complete in normal so that my disco report can be generated with the data from custom table.
Will the above requirement is possible If I follow the way you mention in the PDF or Could you suggest a better way for achieving the same.
In short, my requirement is: The custom table(say XX_TABLE) will be populated with data when the standard 6i report is run and the disco admin will be making of the custom table (XX_TABLE) to generate the report.
Please advice.

How to open reports in same portlet when clicked on item report links in menu portlet

Hi,
I am not sure what forum I should ask this question. Anyway, I am trying in the content areas forum.
Let me explain what I trying to do.
I have reports links as menu item links in a menu. I have published this menu to portal and added it to a page. I can now see the report links. If I now click on the report link, it opens the report in a whole window. How do I open the report in the same portlet or if this is not possible, how do I open this in a different portlet on the same page ?

You can do this by taking the edit link off the report and putting it into your report SQL.
Use something like Select CASE WHEN (condition) THEN

Hi Annie,
I'm not quite sure what you mean so sorry if this doesn't help but...
Go to report attributes, click on the edit icon (there should be a tick by it to show that its a link) by the column name and you will see the link details there. You can just delete them there.
Is that what you meant?

After that delete these lines from your xml file.

How to sync the latest instance' of scheduled report with the report link

I've scheduled one report daily and it seems to be working fine: I can view the latest instance or I can do it from the history.
But when I'm trying to open report using traditonal link to the report, it shows only content based on the last save manual event after refreshing.
I'm looking for a way to sync reports under 'View Latest Instance' link and Report link.
Any ideas?

Jacques, thanks a lot, it is very helpful.
But now I got another headache, the link to that report shows the latest instance, but 'View' link points to old report manually run and it can be confusing for customer.
What will be next logical step: remove 'View' but how or I can add time-stamp to each report to highlite when the report is produced

I have facing some problem in Sales delivery report monthly. Problem is:
1) When i make Monthly query delivery report without any delivery return and AR Credit memo, it is Fine.
2) When i make Monthly query delivery report with any delivery return and AR Credit memo, it is not showing proper. Its showing in report including return quantity or AR Credit memo quantity.
