I get everyday 10-15 new .pdf files, i open them, edit and save with a new name on my ipad (adobe app)
How do i sync those files wireless on my iphone?

You can either use (a) Adobe Document Cloud or (b) AirDrop.
(a) Adobe Document Cloud (the cloud storage formerly known as Acrobat.com)
Acrobat DC for iOS provides the integrated support for Document Cloud. (That's what "DC" stands for.)
You can sign in with your Adobe ID, open documents from Document Cloud, and save or upload documents to Document Cloud in the Acrobat DC app (desktop or mobile).
(b) AirDrop
Share content with AirDrop from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If you would like to use AirDrop on your desktop/notebook computer, you need a Mac running Yosemite.

No - the Word files do not need to be saved in any other format if you have Pages on your iPad. There are other apps that provide better compatibility than Pages but it will work for you. You have to have DropBox on your PC and the free DropBox app on the iPad to use DropBox to transfer files.
To send the file using DropBox - make sure DropBox is running on your computer. Then place the file in one of the folders that you have set in your DropBox folder on your PC. Launch DropBox on your iPad and find the folder that you placed the file into and tap on that folder. Find the document and tap on it. It will open in the window on the right. Tap the arrow icon in the upper right corner and select Open in Pages.
If you have pdf files in iBooks that you want to put into Pages you have to email them to yourself and use the Open In feature when you open the email. You cannot send a file from iBooks other than to email it - at least I am not aware of any other way.

How do I "import" pdf files to the iPad, for use by pdf reader and/or annotation apps?
I have some of the appropriate apps, but whenever I try to sync pdf files ("books"), I get a message that I need iBooks to read pdf files. And when I install iBooks, I see my pdf files but only in iBooks, not the other apps!?

Thanks all for helping with advice -- there's lots to learn moving from a PC laptop environment to a brand new iPad. Even so, e-mailing yourself as a "file transfer" seems like merely a high-tech version of "sneaker-net", as well as a waste of ever-scarcer bandwidth! And DropBox is only an alternative for non-confidential stuff, the Patriot Act makes it's use (for that matter, even the use of e-mail or the cloud generally) nfg for anything confidential -- in my case, client financial & tax data. So I knew there HAD to be a non-wireless way to do it. So thanks, Fred!

You can't really.
You need to use DHTML in the swf-wrapper HTML file, usually a
division wrapped iFrame, and load the PDF into the iFrame as an
overlay to the Flash.

I suspect that you haven't synced your iPad with your Mac. iBooks does not "push" new additions to its library automatically, like iCloud does; you must sync your iPad, either with a USB cable, or over WiFi, to have the PDFs sync. Make sure the PDFs are selected in iTunes too.

iOS devices are not and have never been backup devices. They merely mirror the content of the computer to which they sync.

Before uploading to Mavericks and having ibooks on my iMac I used to manage all my pdf files on iTunes and then put them on my iPad. It was all very simple and the same as music files management.
Now the tag books was remove from itunes and with ibooks i cannot manage my pdf and send them to my ipad.
1. I cannot manage the info on the pdfs I put on ibooks like I used to do on iTunes. I cannot change name, author, genre, etc...
2. I cannot put them on the ibooks of my ipad.
Thus I will have to stop using ibooks...

I followed the instructions there and when navigating to "http://<your local host>/" I get "It Works". However, when attempting to access my local user directory, I get a 403 Forbidden error:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /~<short user name>/index.html on this server.
Of course I replaced <short user name> with my actual short user name. I'd reply there but I don't seem to be able to.
The other link in your post relates to OS X Server, which I don't have, I'm running plain OS X 10.9.4. Any ideas?

Why can't I sync pdfs from my iPad to my iPhone?

I have pdfs on my iphone and ipad but the two sets aren't identical and nothing I do can get them to sync to each other. In iTunes I have 'all books' selected under the books tab for both the phone and the pad.
When I tick 'selected books' I can then scoll down and tick all the pdfs that I want to sync from my iPad but the pdf that I really want to transfer is no where to be seen in iTunes. When I do the same on my iPhone iTunes doesn't even recognise a single pdf file - none of them are there.
I have tried to drag and drop the documents into iTunes or use the import feature in the menu but niether of them work for either the iPad or iPhone.
I don't understand why this is so incredibly difficult.

Make sure you have their icloud email they use for imessage in their contact information before sending them an imessage.

If you want to transfer any size video to your iPod Touch, you can do this by dragging and dropping it into Pic Share It. The video will appear in your Camera Roll. It's a free program. Here's a video showing how it works.

How to sync pdf files without deleting existing ones

I am new to the apple world and i recently bought an iphone 5 and an ipad mini. i am loving using them but i am facing a problem everytime i try to sync media. whenever i upload new stuff its automatically deleting the existing stuff. how do i upload new stuff ( media and pdf's) without deleting the existing ones ??

"Upload"? What does that mean to you? Syncing form iTunes? Is that what you mean? If it is what you mean, you need to select all of the content that you want to sync by setting sync preferences and once you do that, your media should not be deleted every time that you sync.
However if you are referring to Photos as media, Yoy can only sync one folder of photos from your computer at a time. Of you switch to another photos folder, the existing photos on the iPad will be erased.
So if you would explain exactly what you mean and what you are doing, it will be easier to offer a solution.

How to recover PDF files from iPad

Just recently I had the unenviable problem of a hard disk failure on my Mac Book Pro
Now after a data recovery specialist did his work, I just may have most (all?) of my data back but what was lost was folder structure and in a lot of cases filenames as well (last backup was unfortunately a good 6 plus months ago)
So right now I'm going through the 2nd part of data recovery whereby I'm finding files of all extensions depending on whats important and what I'm doing right now (Mac Book also operates as a small business)
What would be good is to take some efficient shortcuts where it comes to what is on my other devices
In the case of my iPad I keep a lot educational PDF's within iBooks that were purchased outside of iBooks and it would be great to get these PDF's and put onto my mac book pro
A long winded version would be that I can email them back to me and then install on the hard drive but there are a couple hundred
Would you please have any suggestions as to how I can recover these files back to my empty laptop?

Thanks - I've gone into settings on my iPad for both iCloud and iBooks and can't see any settings that say that these PDF documents are/can be backed up there?
If I go into iBooks on my mac book (yes-running Mavericks) then I can see all the collection titles I've created to file these PDF's but none of the files underneath them?

I use iBooks to store and organize my PDFs. You can get iBooks free from the App Store.
If your are viewing a PDF in Safari you can tap the PDF and get the option to "Open in iBooks." once you open the PDF in iBooks you can create different collections and store related items together.
Besides getting PDFs from Fari you can receive them in emails. Tap to get the open in iBooks choice.
If the PDFs are on the computer you normally sync with you can copy them into the Book section of iTunes on your computer so that the next time you sync they will be copied to your iPad. Once on your iPad you can move them into Collections that you might have created.

If I understand your question, you want to read pdfs on your iPad, not create or edit.
Drag pdf files to the iPad icon in Finder while connected to your computer via the USB cable.
They will show up in the iBooks application
(If you don't already have iBooks, it's a free download from the App Store.)
Once installed, there are two buttons at the top left of the Bookshelf.
One is Books, the other is Collections.
Tap Collections, and you'll see Books and PDFs.
Tap PDFs and you're there.
