Hi All,
Can you please tell me how to take schema backup.
DB : 10.2.0.2
Thanks in advance.1. 1. what is the time difference between for this two utilities to export the data for a schema, i.e "expdp" and "exp"?Go for EXPDP
2. If i using COMPRESSION option in "expdp" utility, how many times data size will be reduced to original size?When “Y”, export will mark the table to be loaded as one extent for the import utility. If “N”, the current storage options defined for the table will be used. Although this option is only implemented on import, it can only be specified on export.
3. 3. With out importing the data, how can i check the data which is exported, is correctly exported or not? You can do import with show=y option. This will not import any thing in the database. this will only generate the Sql file and your Export file can be validated. This will work similar to normal import except that this will not insert anything in the database.
Imp 'userid/password' fromuser=userid touser=userid show=y file=filename.dmp log=logfile.log

How to exclude schema name from exported files (PL SQL Developer)
Dear all,
Just one question: I am using PL SQL Developer. My goal is to export some data (as .sql and .dmp files) from one database and to import them into the another database (both databases have identical structure - test database and production, just different database names and names of schema. In order to make it possible, I need to exclude schema name from generated export file. I believe that it is possible to do it automatically by setting up parameters of PL SQL Developer. How?
Thank you in advance,
Kindest regards,
DraganaIn the meantime, I have found the answer on my previous question:
Actually, the initial idea (how to exclude schema name from exported files) was wrong. No need for any intervention.
Trick is: Schema name can be changed during the import of exported files (PL SQL Developer during import gives possibility: From User (old schema) To User (new schema) .
Hope that this will be useful info for others.

I took a photo class and the tech showed me how to take iPhoto images and export to an external hard drive. However, I do not recall how this was done. Can anyone provide me with step by step instructions? TIA!
iPhoto->:File->Export…. BTW, iPhoto and OS version would help; whereas, iOS version doesn't.

How-to Generate Script from the export dump file
Hi all,
Software : Oracle 10gR2/Windows 2003
=============================
Has anyone generated a Script from a export dump file ( exported via data pump export). I know it is possible to generate script from the regular export.
I want to know how to generate the script for various objects or is it possible to get the counts of types of objects in the dump file and / or generate the script from the export dump file exported via data pump utility on Oracle 10g.
Thanks,
SSI want to know how to generate the script for various objects.what do you mean by scripts? Assuming the metadata definitions of various objects.
First of all, you can generate the metadata definitions using import.
Use, Impdp with SQLFILE parameter to generate the SQL file for the metadata definitions.

How add capture schema level to existing table level capture
I have setup Oracle Streams 2 databases( oracle 10.2.0.4 windows 2003) 2-way replication. Database A capture 55 tables and database B capture 32 tables from same schema.
I need add one more database C (oracle 11.1.0.7 rac windows 2003); replicate whole schema level from database A;
What sould I do?
Add new schema level capture process on database A?
Can I drop current capture table level on database A and create schema level capture and use different propagation?
Please helpBetter use 2 differents captures and 2 differents propagations, specially since on the of the capture is bi-directional.
When troubles will come, you will be happy of this separation, Also if something special is requested, you will be confortable with the implementation and sure that no side effects on the other capture. But the ease of maintenance, the different FIRST_SCN, will make your life better.
Remember that a propagation that goes always from A-->B, you can remove the rule set. In this case everything that enter A goes to B.
So is it better to do
A -> rules |-----> B
|-----> Cor not proagation rules :
A ---> B
A ---> CI vote for the second. -

Loading a level 0 export from one cube to another w/ fewer dimensions
We have an Essbase cube w/ 13 dimensions. I'd like to take a level 0 export of the current cube and load it into a new cube w/ fewer dimensions. Can I use a load rule against a level 0 export file so that I can ignore a few dimensions that we no longer need? Or is there a better way to accomplish this task?
Thanks.
Terri T.I used the DataExport and specified wh/ dimensions I wanted to pull for loading into the new cube w/ fewer dimensions. I'm working on the load rule file and have it set up to ignore certain columns. I don't use load rules that often, so I'm having a hard time setting up the load rule to accept multiple months worth of data for a particular intersection. I tried setting up the first data column to March, for example, but it changes the column header to Period instead of showing March and then I am not able to set up the next column for April. What am I missing?
Thanks.

How can we take the incremental export using the datapump at schema level.
Hi,
How can we take the incremental export using the datapump at schema level. Example, today i had taken the full export of one schema.
After 7 days from now , how can i take the export of change data , from the data of my full export.
using the export datapump parameter - FLASHBACK_TIME ,can we mention the date range. Example sysdate - (sysdate -7)
Please advice
thanks
Naveen.Think of the Data Pump Export/Import tools as taking a "picture" or "snapshot."
When you use these utilities it exports the data as it appears (by default) while it's doing the export operation. There is no way to export a delta in comparison to a previous export.
The FLASHBACK_TIME parameter allows you to get a consistent export as of a particular point in time.
I recommend you go to http://tahiti.oracle.com. Click on your version and go to the Utilities Guide. This is where all the information on Data Pump is located and should answer a lot of your questions. -

Hi
I have export dump file. I don't have any information other then that about the dumpfile.
1. How do I know what version of exp was used(or database version)?
2. what does the exp contain, whether it is table/schema/tablespace/database level export?
3. Is it possible that I can used impdp command to export a file which was exported using "exp" command?1. Sorry for my ignorance but in first case how do I know if i have to use "imp or impdp".
As discussed in the above mentioned thread strings might reveal something but not sure. Otherwise you can always confirm by trying to run it.
And assuming that if I imported the dump(using trial and error rule), how do I know what level of export was the dump file created... ie
how do I know the present object(object imported in target) was belonging to which tablespace and schema in source database(question 2 of "Sidhu")?
When you will import it back in a new database, everything will be same as the original database. All objects will belong to their respective tablespaces,schemas blah blah...(where they were in the original database).

HOW TO IMPORT DATA MORE THAN ONCE FROM THE SAME EXPORT DUMP FILE?
before asking my question i'd like to mention that i'm a french spoke...
so my english is a little bit bad. sorry for that.
my problem is : IMPORT

Import terminated successfully with warnings.
-------------------------------------b]
So after analysing this log file, i created
the appropriate drives and folders... as the
import statement doesn't see them.
E:\ORADATA G:\ORDATA etc...
And i started to [b]IMPORT ONE MORE TIME. with:
$ IMP73 sys/pssw Full=Y FILE=c:\temp\FOLD_1\data_1.dmp BUFFER=64000
COMMIT=Y INDEXFILE=c:\temp\FOLD_1\BOO_idx.sql
LOG=c:\temp\FOLD_1\BOO_log.LOG DESTROY=Y IGNORE=Y;
after that i could not see the users nor the
tables created.
and the following message appeared in the log file:
Warning: the objects were exported by L1, not by you
. . skipping table "AN1999_BDAT"
. . skipping table "ANPK"
. . skipping table "BOAP"
. . skipping table "BOO_D"
ETC.....skipping all the tables
. . skipping table "THIN_PER0"
. . skipping table "UPDATE_TEMP"
Import terminated successfully without warnings.
and only 2 new tablespaces (originally 3) were
created without any data in ( i check that in
the Oracle Storage manager : the tablespaces exit
with 0.002 used space; originally 60 M for each !!)
so,
How to import data (with full import option) succefully
MORE THAN ONE TIME from an exported dump file ?
Even if we have to overwrite tablespaces , tables and users.
