How to Test coherence cache configuration

Hi,
I have configured coherence using the below two config xmls, I had started out by trying to configure a distributed cache scheme but I am not sure if it has come up correctly. This configuration works fine from caching point of view, it even does the clustering, but my only doubt here is that how can I test whether it is actually a distributed cache or a replicated cache?

Thanks for your answer but I also wanted to know if there is anyway I can verify that by the data in the cluster? You can start up the [command line application|http://coherence.oracle.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=16684] or write a quick class to display the information for that particular cache.
I mean can check what all data is present in each cluster member?I would suggest taking a look via JMX. In this case, you would want to look at the ServiceMBean, CacheMBean and StorageManagerMBean MBeans (take a look at the Registry for more information).
Another reason why I am not so confident if this scheme is distributed or not is that, in my config xml I do not have any backing map scheme configured so how is coherence going to do the backups in this case?
<backing-map-scheme>
     <local-scheme/>
</backing-map-scheme>You do have a "backing map" configured, it will just use the defaults.
Coherence always manages the backups automatically, transparently and dynamically for you. When using the partitioned cache (i.e. "distributed-scheme") Coherence will place the backup in a storage enabled node on a separate physical machine as the primary.

  • Querying in coherence cache configured with persistence layer

    Since querying in Coherence takes into account only those objects that are already in cache, are there any commonly used techniques for improving query performance in scenarios where Coherence is used with database as persistent layer (to cache more data than it can fit in the memory)?

    Hi User,
    From the look of the error I'd guess you are running on Windows. Windows has a rather odd behavior of dropping your IP address if it detects a physical disconnection on the NIC, which ultimately results in a local cluster becoming unusable. Please see http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH35UG/Deployment+Considerations+-+Windows for details on how to address this.  Also considering that you are running everything on a single machine you may wish to explicitly bind to 127.0.0.1 (not localhost), to avoid issue entirely.  Note that binding to 127.0.0.1 is only supported starting with Coherence version 3.4, and you will also need to configure Coherence with a TTL of 0 to enable the loopback based cluster. See http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH35UG/unicast-listener#address, and http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH35UG/multicast-listener#time-to-live for details on these settings.

  • How to test the integrated configuration?

    Hi Guys,
    I have created a integrated scenarion and i want to know how can we test it from the RWB.  I am getting the errors when i post the payload from the test tab to the adapter engine.
    Thanks,
    Srini

    Hi Srinivas,
                        Integrated scenario can be run only for those adapters which lies on the adapter engine. This can be tested from end to end using sender channel onlybecause in RWB testing, u cant test it using the test tab of integration engine because that is used to put the message on the pipeline entry URL. But in case of integrated scenario , the message processing happens in the Advance adapter engine. The message doesnt pass from the Integration engine and So the message which are executed as integrated scenario are not available in the SXMB_MONI also.
    This is a feature in PI 7.1. This enhance the performance and all the steps i.e
    1) Receiver determinatiom
    2) Interface determination
    3) Sender agreement
    4) receiver agreement
    are present under a single object (Intrgrated scenario) which is cached in the adapter engine cache.
    Hope this clear the Integrated scenario concept.
    Thanks

  • Coherence *Extend configuration

    Hello,
    To enable Coherence Extend, we should define a proxy-scheme in our cluster cache-config that defines a coherence *extend proxy-service, containing a tcp-acceptor with a local  address and port.
    Can there be only 1 such an extend proxy service running on the same node?  Or should we redefine the extend proxy-service configuration for each cache server that is running on the same node (to use a different port)? In both cases, we have to define at least 2 new cache-config files - one with the extend proxy service and one without. Is this correct?
    We're now trying to run 2 cache servers on the same node with an extend proxy service.  When we try to start the 2nd cache server, we get the following exception (which is quite normal because the coherence proxy service tries to bind to a socket that is already in use by the other cache server instance that is running the extend proxy service):
    2010-01-21 09:48:10.923/7.865 Oracle Coherence GE 3.5.2/463 <Error> (thread=Proxy:ExtendTcpProxyService:TcpAcceptor:TcpProcessor, member=1): error binding ServerSocket to 10.2.12.144:9099: java.net.BindException: Address already in use

    at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
    Is there a workaround that makes it possible to use the same cache configuration (containing coherence *extend proxy-service, with tcp-acceptor) with different cache servers on the same machine?
    If not, what is the best practice to configure the *extend proxy service?
    Thanks in advance

    you can inject system properties into your coherence cache configuration as follows:
    <tcp-acceptor>
    <local-address>
    <address system-property="wouters.address">localhost</address>
    <port system-property="wouters.port">1234</port>
    </local-address>
    </tcp-acceptor>
    The above example will default to localhost:1234, however you can override these with system properties. This will allow you to reuse the same config, but tailor it to your application.

    Neville.

    Hi,
    I've posted some [url http://coherence.oracle.com/download/attachments/14647422/add-index-namespace.jar]code and the [url http://coherence.oracle.com/download/attachments/14647422/add-index-namespace-src.jar]source. Hi,
    This is because the system detects that you are using different configuration for the cache of the same name(and the domain name). If you want, we can discuss it, my mail is [email protected]

  • Warming up coherence cache for Grid-Read configuration

    I am using toplink Grid-Read configuration for my coherence cache implementation.
    In this, I am facing one problem of retrieving data in the following scenario
    1. Search has been performed based on some criteria.
    2. Part of the result is there in the cache and part of the result is there in database.
    3. I can not bypass cache with
    setHint(QueryHints.QUERY_REDIRECTOR, new IgnoreDefaultRedirector())
    as coherence will not return null in this case.
    4. So, the data which are only there in the cache will be displayed instead of showing the complete result.
    To resolve this issue, I need to warm up the cache at system start-up so that the data in coherence and database will be in sync.
    So, my question is how to warm up the cache at system start-up ?

  • How to pre-load Coherence Caches used within an OEP Application

    Hi OEP/Coherence guys,
    I'm currently developing an OEP application that was consuming database inputs in CQL queries.
    I've replaced database direct access by Coherence caches access. My Coherence Local caches use a cache loader to fetch rows (by key) when there is a cache miss. This is working well, and the caches get filled in during the execution of my OEP application.
    The problem is that if CQL queries are made on some attributes (not the key) of not-yet-cached data, the load method of my cache loader is not invoked and there is no result to my CQL query.
    I'm wondering how to pre-load my data in Coherence Caches, from the database, when the OEP application starts to avoid such kind of problems...
    Thx for any advice.
    Renato

    Hi.
    Could you please describe the way to "set-up a cache-loader to load data into your cache when the OEP application starts" ?
    I have a cache-loader configured with my cache. My cache-loader implements the "com.tangosol.net.cache.CacheLoader" interface.
    This interface only defines 2 methods:
    load(java.lang.Object oKey) ==> Return the value associated with the specified key, or null if the key does not have an associated value in the underlying store.
    loadAll(java.util.Collection colKeys) ==> Return the values associated with each the specified keys in the passed collection.
    None of these methods allows me to pre-load my data (and BTW it looks like "loadAll" is never called by OEP)
    Thx

  • How to test applications based on coherence?

    Hi Buddies,
       Could you provide me some ideas to test the application based on coherence3.7 ?
       For exmaple,  to test network performance with DatagramTest and MulticastTest,
       to monitor the applicatio with jconsole, to check the cluster or cache with
        com.tangosol.net.CacheFactory or CohQL ...
       I need more ideas for testing applications based on coherence, especially , the performance testing.
       Thanks a tons in advance.
    Br
    Adam

    Hey Adam,
    Not 100% sure what you're after, but if you're asking about how to test the logic and performance of your coherence based applications then I would suggest:
    For functional tests: take a look at littlegrid. I've used this to great success in past projects.
    For unit tests: design your code to abstract your business logic away from the Coherence implementation - that way you can unit test your business logic without Coherence.
    For performance tests: well, that's quiet an lengthy topic on its own. For simple high level performance/throughput tests I've previously added appropriate info level logging to the application, which included the type and timings of each high-level operation, and then used log aggregation tools, (such as logscape or splunk, with my preference being the former), to plot the aggregated results from the clusters log file.   This is a powerful technique and one which I've use in dev & qa for performance testing and in production to give throughput and latency graphs and alerts on failing or slow operations.
    Hope this helps,
    Andy

  • How to test integrated configuration?

    Hi,
    I've set up an Integrated Configuration.(ICO)
    I know i cannot test from Tools >> Test Configuration
    I'm testing from RWB, i suppose i have to put my xml using the adapter engine test message option instead of the integration engine test option. You think that is correct?
    Whatever i do i still get an error message saying there is no receiver determination for the given business component and interface. I thought for ICO you dont need Receiver Determination? Am i wrong?
    Are there other/better ways to test this ICO?
    Thx
    Robert

    Hi,
    Small recap of the issue: i want to test an Integrated Configuration from the RWB.
    My scenario is File to SOAP (synchronous)
    All cache refreshes both in SXI_Cache and CPA cache were good.
    If i test from RWB >> INtegration Engine >> Test Message then i get the following return:
    "....  Error While Sending Message: Error stack from response: No receiver could be determined...."
    (this response is understandable: ICO is not on the IE and the combination of Sender Component/INterface/Namespace will not be found there, so we get an error)
    But...
    If I test from RWB >> Adapter Engine >> Test Message with these details:
    Sender Component = Sender Comm Component from ICO
    Interface = Sender Interface from ICO
    Namespace = Sender Namespace from ICO
    User/Passw are good
    QoS: Best Effort
    XML = good
    then i get the following result:
    "....Error While Sending Message: Additional error text from response: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.ConfigException: ConfigException in XI protocol handler. Failed to determine a receiver agreement for the given message. Root cause: com.sap.aii.af.service.cpa.CPAObjectNotFoundException: Couldn't retrieve outbound binding for the given P/S/A values: FP=;TP=;FS=TEST_ICO;TS=;AN=SIOS_ICO_ReadCustomer;ANS=urn:vitens:isu:installation:create; in the current context [Unknown]. ......"
    receiver agreement?
    So i wonder if it is possible at all to test the ICO from the RWB?
    Any comments are helpful.
    Also i'm wondering if there could be installation settings wrong for AAE (we're on PI 7.11)
    Or maybe there are settings in the Service Interface i should do differently?

  • How to test KM configured with a TREX?

    Hi!
    I have configured a TREX for an EP7.0's KM.
    Could you tell me how to test the TREX ability?
    One example is appreciated.
    Thanks a lot!

    First
    Go to System admin-> monitoring -> Knowledge Management  and check TREX monitor. All should be green
    Then you can create an index in  system admin-> System Config-> KM-> index Administration. Search for that in SDN.
    Then create a search iview . for this also search in SDN as these are very straight forward.
    once index is created then you can mointor that also in
    system admin-> monitoring->KM-> Index monitor.

  • Testing Coherence Cluster and Servers after WebLogic Console Creation

    Hello,
    I have created WLST scripts that extend a Domain with Coherence Clusters and Servers using unicast configurations. I can start and run the Coherence Servers from WL Admin Console without errors and warnings.WL 10.3.6
    I am looking to test the configuration with something like coherence.sh and query.sh but I am missing instructions on how to use these tools with unicast and connect to the caches?
    Is there a command line interface that connects to a Coherence Server cache created form the WL Admin Console using unicast? Do I need to override the any xml configuration to make this work?
    Examples would be helpful.
    While testing I have found the following....
    I have changed coherence.sh and enabled storage. In addition:
    JAVA_OPTS="-Xms$MEMORY -Xmx$MEMORY -Dtangosol.coherence.distributed.localstorage=$STORAGE_ENABLED $JMXPROPERTIES -Dtangosol.coherence.clusterport=7777 -Dtangosol.coherence.clusteraddress=231.1.1.1"
    The Coherence Cluster configurations were changed to match the multicast settings for port and address above.
    When this was performed all worked!!
    However, if I changed JAVA_OPTS to use unicast
    JAVA_OPTS="-Xms$MEMORY -Xmx$MEMORY -Dtangosol.coherence.distributed.localstorage=$STORAGE_ENABLED $JMXPROPERTIES -Dtangosol.coherence.localport=8088 -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost=192.168.2.69"
    It fails to connect with the Coherence Server in the cluster.

    Hi there,
    1. How did you achieve the https configuration in Weblogic ? And for which server Admin server or managed Server ?
    2. Are you using which java key store ? Able to see the successful entries in <server>.out log file which is used for start up and stop of the weblogic server ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Did you check the documentation about how to integrate Coherence with Spring applications? Check it out: Integrating Spring with Coherence
    It seems that you are experiencing a communication problem between your web container and the Coherence cluster. Check if you are able to access simple caches and execute sample put() and get()s. Maybe the problem is not about Spring itself, it could be a communication problem.
    Cheers,

  • Default cache configuration

    Hi
    I am new to coherence. I am using coherence as the cache for top link. For testing purpose I did not change any default cache configuration settings. I am able to put and get my data from coherence but I want to see it from coherence console window. How can i see it as I dont know the cache name or map name.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    I didn't find a way to get the list of caches from the console, but you could get them from jmx. You can start your Coherence console with jmx enabled, then in jconsole look at the Coherence->Cache section. Under each service, DistributedCache for example, there will be an entry for each cache. Then in the console, you can use that cache name in your cache command, e.g. "cache foo".
    Hope this helps,
    Patrick
