How to translate database character from GB2312 to GBK?

I have a problem. I am response for managing a large Oracle database. The RDBMS is oracle 8.1.6 under solarise 2.7 . I need to translate database character from GB2312 to GBK. Who can tell me how to do? Thank you very much.

The UTF-8 encoding is an encoding that converts each
character to 1~3 bytes depending on what unicode block
the character belongs. And the expression such as
"\u5143\u7d20" (double quote for String) is the
unicode escape sequence and is independent of UTF-8 or
other encodings. If you would like to convert a
GB2312 file to a file written in the form of unicode
sequences, then you can use the command line command
"native2ASCII." See the tutorial in the following
link.
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/tooldocs/windows/natie2ascii.html
Let me explain bit clearly, We have Chinese character in GB2312 Instant DB Database as well as in file. We want to convert it into Unicode and insert into AS400 Database. In Instant DB the values are inserted using DBVisualizer (Simple INSERT SQL Statement). If we use the same style in AS400 we couldn't display the Chinese fonts in Java Swing Components.
So we thought of changing these into Unicode escape sequence and insert into AS400. Unicode escape sequence can be viewed in Java Swing Components if it declared in the code as a String, but it is not working if we retrieved it from AS400.
Do you have any idea?

  • How can i add character from RSKC?

    Hi Experts,
    can anybody epalin wht is the use of transaction  RSKC. and How can i add character  from RSKC?
    please explain step by step..
    Thnx in advance,

    RSKC transaction is whenever you want to allow special characters in your data.
    If they are not entered in RSKC then your data load fails because of these characters.
    So whichever characters you want to allow, you need to mention over there...
    Usually the standard list is as below :
    '~!"%&''()+,-./:;<=>?#_$@0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ "^`['

    Could someone help how to move database objects from one user to another user
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks a lot for the reply.
    Actually I wanted to know whether there is any command to change the owner ship of the table.
    For ex table1 belongs to user1. can the owner of table1 to be changed to owner2.
    directly using an oracle command. I knew that it can be done using import and export, since the table was 200 million thought the rename command would be faster instead of import and export.
    Thanks Billy for letting me know that it is not possible using oracle query.

  • How to alter database character set from AL32UTF8 to EE8MSWIN1250

    Hi folks,
    I'm using an Oracle 10g, XE database, which has a database character set set to AL32UTF8, what causes that some characters like "č ť ř ..." are not displayed.
    To fix this issue, I would like to change it to EE8MSWIN1250 character set as it's set on server.
    Unfortunatelly below steps don;t work for me:
    connect sys as sysdba;
    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
    STARTUP MOUNT;
    ALTER SYSTEM ENABLE RESTRICTED SESSION;
    ALTER SYSTEM SET JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES=0;
    ALTER SYSTEM SET AQ_TM_PROCESSES=0;
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN;
    ALTER DATABASE NATIONAL CHARACTER SET EE8MSWIN1250;
    ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET EE8MSWIN1250;
    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE; -- or SHUTDOWN NORMAL;
    STARTUP;Value in regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_XE is set to CZECH_CZECH REPUBLIC.EE8MSWIN1250
    I'm struggling with this issue for hours and unfortunatelly can't make it work. Any advise is more than welcome.
    Thanks,
    Tomas
    I tried to use hints listed here , but always getting some ORA messages.

    Hi Sergiusz,
    Thank you for your reply. You're right, I've probably didn't provide a full details about my issue, but at least now I know, that database encoding(characterset) is correct.
    Here is my issue:
    Within my APEX application I would like to use a JasperReportsIntegration, so to be able to create and run iReports straight from APEX application. Installation, and implementation of JasperReports works fine, I had no issue with it.
    As a second step I've created a simple report using iReport tool, when if preview function is used, all static characters (from report labels) are displayed correctly. Database items are displayed incorectly - some Czech characters are not displayed. Language within report is set to cs_CS, but I've tried also other options. No sucess.
    When I run that report from APEX application (from server) then the same issue - data from database are returned without some czech characters.
    Kind regards,
    Tomas

  • How to change Database character set?

    Hi,
    We are planning to make a clone of production Database which has:
    select value$ from sys.props$ where name='NLS_CHARACTERSET';
    AL32UTF8
    We have set up a new server for that purpose and installed database, but by default it has
    select value$ from sys.props$ where name='NLS_CHARACTERSET';
    WE8ISO8859P1
    So after making full import from full backup file we have some broken character in database.
    How can I change from WE8ISO8859P1 to AL32UTF8?
    I expect that I need to shutdown the clone database or even make from scratch full import.
    Thanks

    I made a full backup from production database which has AL32UTF8
    My new database is fresh and it has WE8ISO8859P1
    I think the reason why I'm having some corrupted characters is because of difference in Character set between two database, right?
    so I will need to change new database Character set to AL32UTF8 then make again full import.

  • How to port database changes from development to a production environment

    How do I port database changes from the development to the production environment?
    I am using v8 and have always had to redo everything using the schema manager all over in the production environment. Is there an easy way to generate a script, for example to dump the database changes on the development machine to be executed later on the production machine?

    This should already be a clearly defined change control process. Once a procedure, function, package, trigger, or whatever completes the testing rounds, it should be promoted to production.
    Forgive me if it seems I'm trivializing, but I don't see the problem, just copy the object(s) from your software library (or development) into production using whatever tool works best or has been chosen. If you are doing data copies then you have various options again including good old export/import.

  • How to insert special character from Oracle form builder 10g

    Dear all,
    I need help. how to insert special character like 'Superscript or Subscript ' from oracle form builder 10g. I had try in Oracle form builder 6i with press ALT+ASCII code in the text item and it work, but in the oracle form builder 10g this method doesn't work... would you like to help me...somebody please...
    Best Regard,
    Dedy P.T.

    What do you mean by insert ... from Forms Builder? Do you mean you want to add it as text in a string of pl/sql code or as part of boiler plate text (label) or a value on the Property Palette?
    For special characters you would need set NLS_LANG to something that would support the characters you want to use. For the Builder to see the change, you would need to set NLS_LANG to something like:
    NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
    This can be done in the Windows Registry or system. As I mentioned, this will only apply to the Builder and will have nothing to do with a running form. For running forms you would need to set this in default.env. As for things like super and sub scripts, these are font formats and not necessarily characters. For the most part, I don't believe these are supported in Forms.

  • How to remove database name from SQL query

    We have an MS SQL server with several databases that are of the same schema but have different data.  We do this for testing different environments.  We are using Crystal reports for the first time and we are having trouble changing the database location in the designer.  If update the data source location to the same database server, but different database name, the data still comes from the original database used when creating the report.  We look at the SQL query and it contains the database name and does not change when updating the data source.  Therefore the data always comes from the database used when originally creating the report.
    How can I remove the database name from the SQL query so the proper database is used when testing the report?

    Hi C F
    Please ensure you have followed the procedure mentioned below:
    In Crystal Reports, there are two ways to set the location of the data source your report points to, depending on your connection type.
    For ODBC and Native Connections:
    1. On the 'Database' menu, click 'Set Datasource Location'.
    2. In the 'Current Data Source' section, click the data source to be changed. You must click each individual table in the data source one by one. If the data source is a stored procedure you will not see individual tables.
    NOTE     In Crystal Reports 10, XIR1, and XIR2, if you are mapping from a data source such as a stored procedure where the report designer can not determine which fields should be mapped automatically, you will see a 'Mapping' dialog box where you can manually map fields, as in the procedure cited above.
    3. In the 'Replace with' section, click the data source you want the report to use.
    4. Click 'Update'.
    5. Close the 'Set Datasource Location' window.
    The report now points to the new location.
    For Native Connections Only:
    1. On the 'Database' menu, click 'Set Datasource Location'.
    2. In the 'Current Data Source' section, click 'Properties' to expand it and right-click 'Database Name: <path to database>'.
    3. Click 'Edit' and then type the path to the
    new data source location.
    4. Close the 'Set Datasource Location' window.
    The report now points to the new location.

    Why do you have to use RMI for this task? That way you've got to write both a client and a server. Just use JDBC directly from the server.

  • How to update database table from Internal Table

    hi experts,
        Can anyone please assist me in inserting records to a database table from an Internal Table
    whose structures are identical.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sudhaa............

    Hi Sudha,
    Here are some example of update and insert:
    UPDATE SFLIGHT SET PLANETYPE = 'A310'
    PRICE = PRICE - '100.00'
    WHERE CARRID = 'LH' AND CONNID = '0402'.
    This example overwrites the contents of the PLANETYPE column with A310 and decreases the value of the PRICE column by 100 for each entry in SFLIGHT where CARRID contains u2018LHu2019 and CONNID contains u2018402u2019.
    TABLES SPFLI.
    DATA WA TYPE SPFLI.
    MOVE 'AA' TO WA-CARRID.
    MOVE '0064' TO WA-CONNID.
    MOVE 'WASHINGTON' TO WA-CITYFROM.
    UPDATE SPFLI FROM WA.
    MOVE 'LH' TO SPFLI-CARRID.
    MOVE '0017' TO SPFLI-CONNID.
    MOVE 'BERLIN' TO SPFLI-CITYFROM.
    UPDATE SPFLI.
    CARRID and CONNID are the primary key fields of table SPFLI. All fields of those lines where the primary key fields are "AA" and "0064", or "LH" and "0017", are replaced by the values in the corresponding fields of the work area WA or the table work area SPFLI.
    DATA: ITAB TYPE HASHED TABLE OF SPFLI
    WITH UNIQUE KEY CARRID CONNID,
    WA LIKE LINE OF ITAB.
    WA-CARRID = 'UA'. WA-CONNID = '0011'. WA-CITYFROM = ...
    INSERT WA INTO TABLE ITAB.
    WA-CARRID = 'LH'. WA-CONNID = '1245'. WA-CITYFROM = ...
    INSERT WA INTO TABLE ITAB.
    WA-CARRID = 'AA'. WA-CONNID = '4574'. WA-CITYFROM = ...
    INSERT WA INTO TABLE ITAB.
    UPDATE SPFLI FROM TABLE ITAB.
    This example fills a hashed table ITAB and then overwrites the lines in SPFLI that have the same primary key (CARRID and CONNID) as a line in the internal table.
    Insert statement :
    TABLES SPFLI.
    DATA WA TYPE SPFLI.
    WA-CARRID = 'LH'.
    WA-CITYFROM = 'WASHINGTON'.
    INSERT INTO SPFLI VALUES WA.
    WA-CARRID = 'UA'.
    WA-CITYFROM = 'LONDON'.
    INSERT SPFLI FROM WA.
    SPFLI-CARRID = 'LH'.
    SPFLI-CITYFROM = 'BERLIN'.
    INSERT SPFLI.
    If the database table does not already contain a line with the same primary key as specified in the work area, the operation is completed successfully and SY-SUBRC is set to 0. Otherwise, the line is not inserted, and SY-SUBRC is set to 4.

  • Oracle 11g Installation How to select Database Character Set

    Hi,
    I am Installing oracle 11g R2. After installation I had verified the character set it was AL16UTF16 but I wants to set AL32UTF8 charater set at the time of oracle installation only. I can't see the character set setting opetion at the time of installation because I am selecting the installation option " Install database softerware only" and after installation of oracle software manually I am creating the database. Please help me how can I set the character set at the time of oracle installation or at the time of database creation.
    My question is-
    How can I set the AL32UTF8 character set in above scenario?
    Why It is showing AL16UTF16 character set even I did not define any thing?
