Hello Friends,
Here are some questions I have pls reply back with complete description and url if any ..
1)How Did you tune Query,
2)What approach you take to tune query? Do you use Hints?
3)Where did you tune the query and what are the issue with query?
4)What is difference between RBO and CBO? where u use RBO and CBO.
5)Give some information about hash join?
6) Using explain plan how do u know where the bottle neck in query .. how u will identify where the bottle neck is from explain plan .

1)How Did you tune Query, Use EXPLAIN PLAN to see exactly where it is spending its time, and address those areas.
See the forum FAQ
SQL and PL/SQL FAQ
"3. How to improve the performance of my query?"
2)What approach you take to tune query? Do you use Hints?Hints can help.
Even more helpful is writing the SQL efficiently (avoiding multiple scans of the same table, filtering early, using built-in rather than user-defined functions, ...), creating and using indexes, and, for large tables, partitioning.
Table design can have a big impact on performace.
Look for ways to do part of what you need before the query. This includes denormalizing (when appropriate), the kind of pre-digesting that often takes place in data warehouses, function-based indexes, and, starting in Oracle 11, virtual columns.
3)Where did you tune the query and what are the issue with query?Either this question is a vague summary of the entire thread, or I don't understand it. Can you re-phrase this part?
4)What is difference between RBO and CBO? where u use RBO and CBO.Basically, use RBO if you have Oracle 7 or earlier.

  • How to tune the query...?

    Hi all,
I am having a table with millions of records and the query is taking hours
time. How to tune the query apart from doing the following things.
    1. Creating or Deleting indexes.
    2. Using Bind variables.
    3. Using Hints.
    4. Updating the Statitics regurarly.
Actually, i have asked this question in interview how to tune the query.
I told him the above 4 things. Then he told, these are not working, then
how you will tune this query.

What is the programming(ABAP) difference between Unicode and non Unicode?
Edited by: NIV on Apr 12, 2010 1:29 PM

    Hi
The difference between programming in Unicode or not Unicode is that you should consider some adjustments to make on the Program "Z" to comply with the judgments Unicode Standard.
In the past, developments in SAP using multiple systems to encode the characters of different alphabets. For example: ASCII, EBCDI, or double-byte code pages.
These coding systems mostly use 1 byte per character, which can encode up to 256 characters. However, other alphabets such as Japanese or Chinese use a larger number of characters in their alphabets. That's why the system using double-byte code page, which uses 2 bytes per character.
In order to unify the different alphabets, it was decided to implement a single coding system that uses 2 bytes per character regardless of what language is concerned. That system is called Unicode.
Unicode is also the official way to implement ISO/IEC 10646 and is supported in many operating systems and all modern browsers.
The way of verifying whether a program was adjusted or not, is through the execution of the UCCHECK transaction. Additionally, you can check by controlling syntax (making sure that this asset verification check Unicode).
The main decisions to adjust / replace are (examples):

If you look at the table which is output of the given query , there is column called "STATE_ID" It shows the current state ie open or closed or all report.
The column 'PREVIOUS_STATE' shows the state before the current state. .In the table in 2nd row in previous_state column there is state_id = 1 (open)which is the state before 'all report state'

  • When cloning the 11 DB, difference between dbconfig and running autoconfig?

    Hi,
Doing 11i cloning. I never used to use autoconfig on the db tier, just recreate the control file, open the db, get the listener running, and only otherwise use apps autoconfig.
I still have to recreate the controlfile by hand, since using hot backups, so for the db cloning portion I am now using dbtechstack (initially), then recreate the control file, apply the archive logs, open the database, and then run perl adcfgclone.pl dbconfig (xml file)as per app. B of MOS 230672.1.
Now when I just ran perl dbconfig, I was having some issues. I normally specify the XML file, but this time left it blank to let it ask me the
questions. Anyway, it asked the questions, then started re-createing the controfile and hosed my db, which I am restoring now.
If I specify the xml file (that appears to be good from dbtechstack above)-- will it NOT then try to recreate the controlfile? I am afraid
to run dbconfig again -- since it could mean another restore and I don't have time.
As an alternative, what I have done in the past ... is this (instead of dbconfig) as the db user.
    1. relink oracle
    2. relink all
    3. run autocfg.sh for the db (ie regular, garden-variety autoconfig for the db, not dbconfig).
In the past this alternative has worked well when I've not used db autoconfig at all for the clone, and want to get autoconfig
running on the db tier, and it has been a while since I cloned.
So my question is -- is dbconfig with the specification of the xml file the same as a relink + regular db autoconfig?
The reason I am asking, is that sometimes by not strictly following note 230672.1 my cloned db's have some wierd issues that show up in patching.
    Thanks marv

  • What is the fundamental difference between classful and classless routing?

    Hello to all,
After reading several RFCs, guides and HOWTOs I am confused by an apparently trivial question - what is the basic, fundamental difference between classful and classless routing?
I am well aware that - said in a very primitive way - the classful routing does not make use of netmasks and instead uses the address classes while the classless routing utilizes the netmasks and does not evaluate the address classes.
However, already in 1985 the RFC 950 (Internet Standard Subnetting Procedure) stated that the networks can be further subnetted using the network mask. Since then the routers are expected to use network masks in the routing decision process in the precise way they use it nowadays. However, if the routers use network masks they are doing the classless routing, aren't they? Where is then the difference if we used to describe the 80's way of routing as a classful routing? Or was it already the classless routing? The RFCs about CIDR came gradually only in 1992 and 1993.
If somebody could give me an insight into the key difference between classful and classless routing (and perhaps into the Internet history, how was the real routing done then) I would be most grateful.
    Thank you a lot!
    Regards,
    Peter

    Hello Mohammed,
I am afraid we still have not understood each other ;) I am not looking for the algorithms used to select the best path. I am well aware of them, both Ford-Bellman and Dijkstra, and about their internals. By the way, these algorithms do not have any influence whether the routing is classful or classless because they deal with metrics, not with masks. For example, a classless EIGRP internally uses a distance-vector algorithm, not a SPF algorithm.
I will try to explain once more what is my problem... There are two terms commonly used but badly defined: the classless routing and classful routing. Originally, I have thought that the classful routing works as follows:
    - The routing table consists only of classful destination networks (major nets), metrics and respective gateways. No network masks are stored in the table because we are classful, that is, we use exclusively the route classes and all entries in the routing table are already classful.
    - When routing a packet, the router looks at its destination IP address and determines the major net of this IP address (that is, the classful network that this IP address belongs to). Then it looks up the corresponding entry in the routing table and sends the packet to the respective gateway.
I thought that the classful routing works in this way. I won't describe the classless routing - both of us know how do the today's routers select the next hop.
However, in the RFCs 917 and 950 which were published in 1985, long ago before the term 'classless routing' was coined, the network mask was already defined and it was stated how the routers should work with it.
Now I am confused. The terms classless addresses and classless routing were defined sometime in 1990's, therefore I assume that the routing before the invention of classless IP assignment can be in fact described as classful. In other words, I thought that the routing that was commonly used in 1980's did not use netmasks and can be described as classful because the notion of classlessness came first in 1990's. But now I see that netmasks were defined in 1985.
Now where am I wrong? Do I understand the classful routing properly as I described it? Is it correct to talk about routing in that era as classful although the netmasks were already in use? Or was it already the classless routing?
Basically I am trying to understand what was called the classful routing if the classless routing is said to be something different.
Mohammed, I am most grateful to you for your patience and suggestions! Thank you indeed.
    Regards,
    Peter

  • Can anybody give me the difference between Catt and Ecatt

    Hi gurus,
Can any body give me the difference between catt and ecatt.

    Hi,
I think this is new technology in sap.
I know little bit of this can u go through this.
eCATT (extended Computer Aided Test Tool)
    What is eCATT?
eCATT is an SAP Testing Tool used to automate & test business scenarios in R/3. Each test generates a detailed log that documents the test process and results. If the testing is smooth without any errors, this means that the business scenarios mapped in R/3 are correct. If the test results in error then the problem can be analyzed using the error log that is generated.
eCATT enables automatic testing in SAP GUI for Windows and SAP GUI for Java.
    Features of eCATT:
Following functions can be performed using eCATT:
    Test transactions, reports and scenarios.
    Call BAPIs and function modules.
    Test remote systems.
    Check authorizations (user profiles).
    Test updates (database, applications, GUI).
    Set up customizing tables.
Test the effect of changes to customizing settings.
    Perform load testing.
    Check system messages.
Integrated with Test Workbench, so allows proper management of scripts using SCAT transaction.
    Supports CATT migration to eCATT.
All eCATT Objects are Repository Objects. Therefore one can take advantage of Standard SAP Transport Tools.
eCATT Objects can easily download & upload in XML with XSD format.
There can be several versions of Test Scripts, which allows different implementations with different releases.
The separation of Test Scripts, Test Data & System Data allows for a considerable degree of reuse.
    Why eCATT?
CATT is no longer supported by SAP for the creation of new developments. Hence all the test scripts developed in CATT are now need to migrate/Update to eCATT. Comparative to manual testing, the following are advantages of using eCATT:
Due to automation, testing time is reduced to a large extent.
Due to automation, less manpower is required for testing. This helps financially.
Due to automation, manual errors are reduced to large extent. Hence results in error free testing. This helps, as no further problems will occur while the usage of R/3 system by end users and hence increases the efficiency.
Proved to be extremely useful in implementation projects.
In regression testing, automated test scripts are an ideal method of quickly detecting errors. Automatic test logs make it easy to reproduce test results, enabling fast analysis and planning of further activities, leading to cost savings for the customer.
    Differences between CATT and eCATT?
Till date, CATT could only be used with the R/3 system. eCATT (which is available with SAP Web Application Server 6.20) covers the automatic testing in SAPGUI for Windows and SAP GUI for Java. For other GUIs and Applications, eCATT provides an interface for external tools. This allows companies to perform automated tests from an SAP system in a complete IT solution landscape across system boundaries. These new options enable complete automation of solution landscapes under standard Windows and Web-based user interfaces- resulting in low-cost operation of an IT Solution.
eCATT (extended Computer Aided Test Tool)
    eCATT requisites

eCATT is an SAP Testing Tool used to automate & test business scenarios in R/3.
Reward points if it is helpful.

  • T-Code for reporting stock quantity difference between IM and WM

    Hi All
I'm probably going to kick myself for asking this quastion but is there a report to show the stock quantity differences between IM and WM?
I have searched the forum first but cannot find info.
We have various differences in IM and WM shown in MD04 and LS26. This is usually the result of an unplanned plant to plant transfer not being recipted in at the destination plant.
If no standard T-code is available, which tables can I join to create my own query?
    Thanks in advance
    Darren

    compare MMBE with LS26
Make sure you dont enter a storage location and storage type in selection screen of LS26.
if you post a difference with LI20, then you have just posted a difference within WM, means you moved a quantity from a bin into the difference storate type 998.  The balance of both is still equal to your stock shown in MMBE. You have to clear the difference with IM by executing LI21 transaction. Only then the quantity will disappear from difference storage type and will be adjusted in MM and FI.
LX23 will only report real inconstencies and will adjust them.
If you do a MM movement like 303, then this creates a transfer request in WM, this TR needs to be converted into a TO. to move the stock from the bin to the interim storage type for goods issue.
In your case you created just a negative quant in the interim storage type for goods issue and still have a positive quant in the bin, the balance is equal to the stock shown in MMBE.

  • Difference between VL10 and JITK

    Hello,
How to explain to a user difference between VL10 and JITK ?
    Thanks.
    Romeo

    Dear Romeo,
As my friend said n even u'll b aware of: VL10 is a T-code using which u can create a delivery in foreground giving the details like sales order, shipping point & delivery date as the selection. Thus it's used 4 normal del creation.
Whereas JITK is a TCode for "Summarized JIT Calls Due for Delivery" which is one fo the SAP best prcatices for Automotive only. The other point of diff is that u can create deliveries in the background only using JITK. It is not possible to process summarized JIT calls online. JIT calls as u know r there in the shcelduing agreement along with the forecast tab thus giving the xact 1,2 weeks requirement from d customer.
    Hope it'll b enuf 2 convince d user.
    regards
    PARAM
