How to unlock year dimension members

Dear All,
I have added new years in my application, but the data input on new opened years are not allowed, i think there seems to be issue with settings of members like lock and unlock.
Your valuable suggestions are needed.
Regards
Ace

Look at the "End Year" property of your scenario. Maybe you've forgotten to include new year there

Sorry you can't do that. as a work around you could create attribute dimensions for the parent and the could cposstab them, or split the dim into two dimensions

  • Reg:Dimension members

    Hi Experts,
In my scenerio i have to allow the user to plan for 24 months and at the end of the 12 months he might come back and do the budjeting again for another two years. Both they call it as same name as budjet.
Can anyone suggest me how to proceed the dimension members to acheive this scenerio?
    Budjet           April 2010          March 2012
    Budjet          April 2011          March2013
    Regards,
    Vinoth Kumar

    Hi Vinoth,
    As nilanjan told,
    Category Dimension --> Budget (Member)
Time Dimension --> April 2010 till March 2013 (24 Months) can be used.
You can use the same category "BUDGET" since the time dimension member is different in this case.
    For eg,
they are stored as line item,
    Entity          Category     Account              Time
    A100      Budget        C1111     April 2010
    A100      Budget        C1111     April 2011
are stored as two different line item.

  • Year dimension

    Hi
We have a financial year of 1st April to 31st March.
Hence typically this means that it encompasses 2 calender years.
Can the year dimension members be 2008-09 / 2009-10 and so on instead of 2008/2009/2010 and so on?
Is there any issue in this approach?

No the year has to be a 4 digit character YYYY.
Propose an anhenacement request through Oracle supoprt. It won't happen immediately (or maybe even at all) but it's worth having the conversation.

  • How can I manage access to dimension members in a layout?

    Hello,
I have a dimension member list of materials (400) on a "material" dimension. But some people have access to one portion of the whole group and others may have access to other groups. But the materials can be shared between groups so I cannot group them in differents hierarchies.
The problem is in the layout you need to select a hierachy to show various rows (the whole group of materiales). The layout shows all the list of materials. Even if the user only have access to 10 of them. I don't know how is the best way for presenting this to the user? It should presents only the 10 rows corresponding to his materials.
One way that I found (but I don't find it acceptable because of the hard effort that represents the maintenance) is to create differents member access profiles and denied the access to each material (dimension member - 390) that the user cannot modified. Then in excel I have to run a macro that hides all the rows that have an empty description in the cell of the material name.
    How can I achive this?
Is there a function in BPC to see if a user have access or not to a dimension member?
The only way to show in a layout various rows is to set in the view a hierarchy?
    Thanks & Regards
    SU

    hi
pl. verify whether this will suit your requirements:
    Material           UG1           UG2
    MAT1               Y
    MAT2                                 Y
    MAT3               Y
    MAT4                                 Y
    MAT5               Y               Y
Now UG1,UG2 diff user groups and property in Material. Assignment of Y is one time job.
At the time of accessing the dimension members can restrict on the basis of UG1="Y" or UG2="Y" property
Here MAT5 is common in both UG1 and UG2
(Hardly may have 3-4 set of users: Accordingly can have UG1,UG2,UG3,UG4 etc.)

  • How to remove the default members of a dimension from the control table?

    Hi all,
I am new to hyperion FDM 11.1.1.2.0.0 .
When I navigate to Metadata>Control Tables and try to delete the default memmbers
for the dimension like category and period i got the following error.
Error: Period( 8/31/2009 ) is an active Global or Local Period and cannot be deleted.
Then again i unchecked active checkbox for that dimension from Hyperion Essbase Integration Setup of Workbench Client.
After doing that i got the following error
Error: Unable to retrieve target System Data.
Can anyone tell me how to remove the default members of a dimension from the control table?
    Thanks

Create a new record for the table.
Go change the POV to the new record.
Return to the control table and delete the default record.

  • How to check for a large cube (100K or more dimension members)

    Hi Experts,
We have a customer with trouble returning large data sets.  How can I check for a large cube (100K or more dimension members) on BI7?
Is there a tuning parameter in BW to increase the result buffer?
    Thanks!
    Sapna

You can do a count of the n° of entries in the dimension tables.
    But that's a pain in the ***.
You might consider running program SAP_INFOCUBE_DESIGNS.
This program gives a list of all infocubes with a ratio between the dimensions and fact table.
So you can see if a cube is well-designed or not.

  • How to auto-update of script logics after adding new dimension members?

    Hi Experts,
Just wanna ask if BPC has a functionality that would automatically update/validate and save my script logic whenever I add new dimension members. I've added new PL accounts but they are not automatically added to my calculated BS Net Income. I had to re-validate and save my logic for it to be included in my logic and for the amounts to be computed correctly.
    Thanks,
    Marvin

    Hi Marvin,
There is no functionality as such. we need to configure the script as and when we make any changes in the dimension members.

  • Automatic creation of new dimension members

    Hello all,
Bit of a long post so please bear with me.
I am about to embark on only my third BPC project after having spent several years implementing solutions using BusinessObjects Planning (formerly SRC software), and am still struggling to come up with an elegant solution to the fact that I cannot save data to dimension elements unless they are already explicitly defined in the dimension member list (presumably due to cube architecture).
Those of you who have used BOP/SRC will remember this as unvalidated dimensions.
I find having to first go to admin and pre create members before being able to use an input schedule to save data against them is very restrictive.
I'm hoping one of you guys can help me improve on the workaround I currently use.
For example I have a 'bid submission' input schedule that is used by the user to submit bids for increased budget, capital or revenue, capturing basic costs and commentary. The user selects a bid number from a combo box which is populated by using an EVLST formula to read in pre created dimension members. I have to save a flag to the db which I then use to exclude already used numbers when feeding the combo box on future submissions.
Which works ok but if I have a hierarchy on bid number based on say, cost centre, how do I get around the fact that number ranges have to be pre-assigned to cost centre, Cost Centre A = 1 to 1000, Cost Centre B = 1001 to 2000 etc. What happens if I go over the 1000 on Cost centre A? I then get non contiguous ranges per cost centre.
Is it possible for the bid number to be dictated by the user when they start to fill in the bid submission? Or give the impression that they are?
Or if the client has a bid number format that cannot be pre created? Eg incorporating things like year or person etc. This information could be save separately but not within the bid number. Is it possible to save data to dimension property columns from an input schedule?
    Hope you guys can help
    Many thanks

  • Non standard Year member in Planning Years dimension

We have a non standard (to Planning) member of the Years dimension called 'No Year'. In order to add it initially, I had to go to the back end of Planning (HSP_OBJECT and HSP_UNIQUE_NAMES tables) and modify the members there. This was in version 9. The order of the Years members was then FY95 through FY14, then came No Year, then FY15. This worked for our start and end years within Planning, as our start year was FY09 and our end year was No Year, which allowed us to Plan through FY14 and also entered non-year specific data to No Year on forms. It also allowed us to omit 'No Year' from our scripts using a range of years FY09:FY14 (using substitution variables). Now that the year has rolled over (and, incidentally, we've upgraded to version 11), and our Planning years are FY10 through FY15, I would like to move No Year to be after FY15. However, I don't seem to be able to do that by updating the underlying tables above. I make the changes to the two tables, but it is not reflected in Planning (they display in the same order), and if I try to edit either of the two members in Planning (No Year or FY15), it gives me an error saying the member already exists. Does anyone know how I can accomplish moving the No Year member? I need to do it not only this year, but to have a process my client can follow each year, moving that member in the outline to be directly after the last Planning year.
    Thanks,
    Sabrina

If you want to go about hacking the tables and changing the order of 'No Year'.
If you run the following SQL against your planning application
    select * from hsp_object where object_type = 38
You will see the position column and will have values like 1000000 = First place, 1000010 = Second Place and so on.
To alter the position then you need to note down the position value of 'No Year' and 'FY15'
    update hsp_object set position = '1000070'
    where object_type = 38 and object_name='No Year'
    update hsp_object set position = '1000080'
    where object_type = 38 and object_name='FY14'
Restart planning. Now this is all done at your own risk and when you app goes boom don't blame me :)
If 'No Year' was added in the correct way when you add year's it should always stay as the last position.
Planning assigns object ids between set ranges, normal year values (FY..) are 50002 onwards
No Year is out of that range e.g 50412
When No Year is added correctly then planning will add a new to the normal range of values for year (last year value + 1) and then alters the position order
    Cheers

  • Sum of All Years in Year Dimension

I am trying to get the sum for an account of all years in the Year dimension. The cube is from a EPMA Planning 11.1.1.3 app. There are no Aggregation properties for the individual year members in the Year dimension. Any ideas on how to get the sum of all years?

    Hi kskinner,
You can use @SUMRANGE function to get the summation of all the values of the specified member across the specified range.
You can refer the below link for the syntax and example of SUMRANGE function.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_esb_techref/funcs/sumrange.htm
NOTE - @SUMRANGE function does not accept a cross-dimensional parameter as a member name.
    Hope this helps.

  • Planning Workflow: year dimension security?

In the workflow system within Planning we find the options to choose a Scenario and a Version at first and then choose a specific part of the Entity dimension to work on within the workflow system. We would somehow also like to lock down the Year dimension. The problem is that our financials people can now, when they are part of the workflow, change the data in all years within their part of the entity dimension, but we don't want them to be able to change current or previous budgets.
Of course, we could take the years out of the forms, but since we also have the actuals in the Planning database our financials people should be able to read all years (so they can also read the actuals in all years, and they are of course allowed to see previous budgets), but only write in specific years (on the budgets).
Is there a best practice on how to do this?

    Hi,
What you can do is change the start year/period - end year/period in the scenario dimension administration.
Say you only wanted budget entry for FY09
You would go into the scenario dimension administation
Edit Budget set the Start Year to FY09 and end End year to FY09
On the forms the previous years will still be shown but they will be read only and they will only be able to input into FY09 budget.
You can change the other scenario members in just the same way.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • Can we delete the member from year dimension in hyperion planning??

    Hi All,
Unfortunatley when adding the dimension members it have to add 2 yreas but i click 22 so its added 22 years in the dimension.
so i want to delete the extra members from the year dimension. is it possible in planning to delete year members
please if possible let me know how it is possible???
    Cheers,
    kittu.

It can be done by SQL but it is not supported, the safest option is just to restore from backup before the changes were made

  • Using intersection of dimension members in a SINGLE column/row name

I need help understanding how a single row/column name in a report can be populated with an intersection of two different dimension members of an Essbase cube (ASO). For example, suppose I have two dimensions members in my cube - Sales and Qtr1. Now I want to create a single column-name in my Smartview or FR report called "Sales in Qtr1" that would store values for Qtr1->Sales. Also, i want to have a single column name such as (Qtr1->Sales % Qtr2->Sales).
Is this done via a report script or some other method?
My report would look as follows:
    Sales in Qtr1 | Sales in Qtr2 | Qtr1 Sales as a percent of Qtr2 Sales
    Region1 100 | 200 | 50%
    Region2 25 | 100 | 25%
    Would appreciate any guidance.
    Thanks.
    Axe

Getting the data the way you've described is really easy, just nest the dimensions in Excel (or whatever reporting tool), one dimension over the other.
It's the same for rows as it is columns (okay, in rows instead of columns).
Essbase is very good about doing asymmetrical reports. Take a look at the DBAG and scroll down for the section labelled "Generating Symmetric Reports" -- the second example shows a asymmetric report.
Making the label one cell? A bit hard in Excel -- you'd have to create separate retrieve ranges and report ranges or play a game with hiding rows. Very easy indeed in Financial Reports -- you basically hide a row and put whatever custom label you want in the dimension that remains (technically speaking you could hide both rows and do this with a text row -- whatever you prefer -- but I've generally seen this with the former technique.

    Dear Raju,
Yes, I did it some times but nothing is happen,
I maintain dimension members, I did it as below:
