How to upgrade to mac OS X v10.6 from mac OS X v10.5?

i'm trying to upgrade to itunes 10.7 but won't let me unless i upgrade to OS v10.6. i tried downloading 10.6 then when trying to install it says that it requires 10.6 to be installed? is there a link that directs me to get this upgrade installed properly?

Photoshop CS6 can't save to server after upgrading to Mac OS Yosemite Server from Mac Lion Server

We recently upgraded our server from a Mac Pro 2008 with OS X Lion Server to a Mac Mini 2014 with LaCie 20TB 5Big Thunderbolt 2 RAID drive. Everything is working fine with the exception of Photoshop. It does it intermittently but once it happens it will continue to do so. We get message like "Can't save to disk because of disk error" and "Can't save file because of program error" . Sometime we are able to do a "save as" and save over it. Most of the time we have to "save as" with a different file name and then rename and recopy the file. We have check permission on all the file as well as the server HD has ignore ownership checked. Again only three things changed. 1) Sever hardware change from Mac Pro to Mac Mini. 2) Server software upgraded from 10.7 Lion to 10.10 Yosemite(both have the latest update). 3) Drive when from internal on Mac Pro to External Thunderbolt 2 LaCie drive. We have no problem with Illustrator or Indesign. Only Photoshop. Anyone with any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately you seem to be using Photoshop in a way that Adobe discourages, so you may not be getting a lot of helpful advice.

Wont boot after Deleting Mac OS 9 files from Mac Pro

I noticed some Mac OS 9 files on my main HD. Incorrectly, I guess, I figured I could just delete them. Well.... It allowed me to trash some, and not others. When I tried to move those out of trash back to their folders, it wouldn't let me. SO, I rebooted only to find out my Mac Pro wont boot up now!. All I get is a grey screen with Apple symbol and the indicator going round and round and round.
Rebooted holding option and selecting a Tech Tool sectioned of drive. When to my back up and copy the Mac OS 9 files from it back to the main HD. Didn't work. Then tried to use Time Machine.. still no go.
I'm thing I need to reinstall my MAc OSX 10.6.8 that I have as an dmg file on another drive.
Any suggestions?

learn to clone your system gave bootabke backups.then never alter, upgrades included, without one or more.
install macis x somewhere else, then use setup assist. and/or migration assistant.

What about the Mac OS 9.2 from Mac OS X

Do you think I can install Mac OS 9.2 directly from the second Mac OSX CD on a PowerBook 3400c with 2gb HD and 80MB of RAM?
I'm asking because my friend got rid of his Mac and gave me his Mac OS X CD's and since, I know I can't install X on my machine, maybe the 9.2 would do...
Or would that require Mac OS 9 helper?

Hi, Prosis. I suspect the CDs given to you will be of no value at all with your PB 3400. No retail (universal) OS X installer disc set includes an installer for OS 9. The only Mac OS X installer CD sets that include installers for OS 9.x are model-specific installers, and none of them is specific to a PB 3400. I think it very unlikely that you will be able to start your computer up from any CD in such a set. Even if you're able to do so, I doubt very much that an OS 9 installer designed for some other Mac model will install a functional OS 9.0.x or 9.1 — let alone OS 9.2.2, which is unsupported on your computer.
OS 9 Helper is only useful for applying the OS 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 downloadable updaters to an already-installed OS 9.1. It does not make possible any other method of installing any version of OS 9 from any source disc.
There is no way to install a bootable OS 9.2.2 directly from any CD on any Mac, except from an installer CD that is specific to that Mac model and was originally shipped with it.

Do I need an Antivirus if I have windows on my Mac and frequently go from Mac OS to Windows (7)?

I have been using a Mac and am thinking of getting windows 7 installed on it.
My question is, will I need an antivirus software?
- I will be frequently changing from Mac OS and Windows.
- I will only be playing games from (Steam and Origin).
- Will not be using it to download anything except games for steam and origin.
- I will have things like twitter open on chrome.
(emails I do not need to open on my computer)
- Nothing else will be open
Antivirus softwares are very pricy these days, therefore, if I will need one, is there a free alternative for an antivirus software? Or is it okay if I keep switching between Mac OS and Windows 7?

iCloud requires OS X 10.7.5 or higher, and iCloud photo sharing (which includes shared videos) requires OS X Mavericks v10.9 and either iPhoto '11 version 9.5 or Aperture 3.5. Without these, you can't access the shared stream videos on your Mac. However, at the present time you cannot save a shared video from a shared stream anyway, you can only view it. I need to edit a Flash movie that somebody else developed in Adobe Flash CS3 on a Mac. I'm using Adobe Flash CS4 on Windows (Vista). However, the font that shows up on my computer is much bigger than on the .SWF that he produced.
He used a custom font, which I had to add to my system Fonts folder. Because Adobe Flash detected the right fonts on my computer, it didn't map them to substitute fonts. I verified that Flash is indeed using the same font files that he used.
I believe the fonts are being rendered differently because I'm using Windows.
How do I fix this?

hi all - I have a similar problem with flash - basically the plugin crashes pretty much every time I am not looking at it directly (playing online games in tabs for example)
I have tried disabling the "memory-safe-away-time-out thingee" in config:about - to no avail. I have also tried disabling all other plugins (not that I actually have many - Java, VLC, quicktime, some windows stuff), have set themes to default, have made sure all plugins are latest version.
currently running the 4.0.b2 Firefox version cause of the plug in crashes in the 3.6.8 version - same problem though.
and where it gets really strange is that a friendly help person on the adobe site suggested I upgrade my firefox to version 3.8 (while I was on the 3.6.8 version) and that would fix it. which I thought was.. interesting as 3.6.8 is the latest version as Firefox upgrade check insisted.
by now i have invested at least 4 days trying to fix this issue and I gotta say... I am tempted to actually try other browsers, though firefox is my default browser since years.

How to Move folders back to MS Outlook From MAC Outlook 2011

I am using Mac Outlook 2011 and I want to move my folders back to MS Outlook. I cant deal with Imapi anymore and my company isnt going to upgrade to Exchange 2007 for a while so I badly need to move back. Any body have any idea how to do that easily, I will even pay for software if there is anything that will make it easier.

How to stop ios mail deleting icloud email from mac mail?

This is driving me insane.
I have an icloud email address set up on my iphone and mac mail.
I want to leave emails on my phone 'on the server'. Read them when i'm out, delete them... come home and have them all come through on mail where i'll deal with them.
Right now if I delete them on my phone, they're deleted on mac mail also.
I have all my regular email addresses set up to do this. Except the one icloud address I want to move everything to!!!

It sounds like your iPhone does whatever your iPad does with regard to joining or forgetting a Wi-Fi network. From what you are describing it seems to me that iCloud Keychain is enabled, as this is a function of that feature. The only way to stop what you are seeing from happening is to disable iCloud keychain on one of the devices:

How to keep links in a pdf converting from MAc word

Hey.
I need to create a pdf with a document created in MAC word - and keep the links. This doesn't seem to be working.

That makes sense. So I guess it looks like I have 2 options.
1. Put the JS short code in and have it open the link in a new window if the user opens it in adobe. If a google chrome user opens it in the default viewer, they wont be able to use the link at all.
2. Leave the link how it is, and it will be usable in both viewers, but will not open it in a new window.
I am sureprised that opening the link in a new window isn't just an option in Acrobat Pro. I wouldn't think you'd have to make a workaround like this.
Is there an alternative way to have a page link on the form so that people can go to another .pdf whil keeping the main one open?

If you are on iTunes 11 on your Mac then you may want to re-enable the left-hand sidebar via View > Show Sidebar (option-command-S on a Mac), which might make it easier to navigate and my instructions may make more sense.
To sync photos, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders/albums to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
