How to use a datagrid as an excel sheet

Hi
I m new to flex.I want to use a datagrid such that it behaves as a excel sheet .So I can give every column(cell) a different formula and this can be dynamically updated every time I change the input say through a numeric stepper may be.
If code help can be provided it will be very helpful as I m still trying to learn it.

DataGrid is not written to work as a spreadsheet. It will be a lot of work. I think some third-parties have done somethings like it.

To make Excel sheets from sqlplus, you can use the markup html tag in sqlplus.
Here's an example.

How to change the cell value in Excel Sheet in WD Java?

HI,
I have an application which is used to upload and download excel sheet.I can upload the excel sheet through Upload UI element and also able to download the same file through Download UI.But before download I want to validate the excel sheet.If data is not proper in the excel then I have to put some comment (cell comment).I am able to read each cell value,but not ble to put any comment.Once I pt commen in the cell,the download file should display the commented in the excel sheet.
Please let me know how to update hte excel sheet.

I'm not sure about the HSSF apis, however, i inserted the Cell Comments using jexcel apis. There is a method setComment(java.lang.String s, double width, double height) in class WritableCellFeatures using which you can insert cell comments

Using Olefield to embed an excel sheet

Hi Manish,
My answer may not be straight to the point.
But, let me explain what I have done with my application.
We have a similiar case here, but the difference is we are
accessing Crystal Reports where as you are accessing Excel sheet and you
are using OLE object where as we are using Active X. But the concept
is going to be the same.
Our application contains some batch process on the server which
fills up the table in our database.
Crystal report should access the table and get the data.
For this we need to pass a set of parameters through Forte.
This is acheived through the active X properties.
I think you can map excel sheet to a data base table and fetch
the data from there using some simple macros.

In the recent How to paper on Use Web Printing with Microsoft Excel, describes few ABAP classes and methods. Can those classes be modified to access much more Microsoft excel objects , such as Macro ? Does any body has tried in those lines ? Any suggestions is eagerly awaited.

Since we want to modify our reports for printing (and the How-To about enhancement of web printing does not really answer to our requirements) it seems that the Excel alternative is just what we were looking for.
Unfortunately I have been working with these classes for 6 hours now to get a very simple Excel file, but without success. I did fix the bug like Thomas Kauffman told on the forum, changed the dataprovider and prefixes and I followed every single step of the How-To document(also the check of folder options to open/save the .xls file),... The only thing that happens: the URL has changed (bookmark) and the page is reloaded again.
So no Excel file, neither a dialogue box. I also walked -a very long time- through the code (in debugging mode) starting from ZCL_RSR_XLS_HELP_WINDOW_PRINT->PROCESS_CMD but I can't find anything!
Is there anybody with the same problem and -better- with a possible solution to it?

In MS Word we have the possibility to use a library's metadata by using "Quick Parts" and "Document Properties". Unfortunatly, MS Word is not very confortable in contrast to MS Excel. Therefore we are looking for a solution to use the metadata of a sharepoint
library in an Excel sheet.
For example: We have implemented a customized Excel file with calculated columns. This excel file should be a, lets say a measurement protocol.
By creating a new document (Excel Template) we want to add only the measurements. The metadata shall appear within the template. (LookUps, Date, Responsible, ID, etc.)
Export the data into an excel file is very redundant. Because you have the data inside the library and in the excel file. Copying, Sending, Renaming, etc.. I just was wondering why MS Word has this option and MS Excel not? Do you know how I can use those
metadata from SharePoint?

I know this is old so I assume you've fixed this. However, for anyone else looking at this forum, I'd recommend using a union or a table join.
Select a.1, a.2, a.3 from a <where clause>

use a type of join.
If both table selects return the same number of columns but different data just reference them as a variable like fred, and Ted
Select fred.1, fred.2, fred.3 from (Select a.1, a.2, a.3 from a) fred
union
Select Ted.1, Ted.2, Ted.3 from (Select b.1, b.2, b.3 from b) Ted
or again some type of join of these two sets
Select * from
(Select a.1, a.2, a.3 from a) a
INNER JOIN (Select b.1, b.2, b.3 from b) b ON b.1 = a.1
This would give you 6 columns of data a1-3, and b1-3
We don't know from your description what format your spreadsheet is in. These just give you the idea. Think of the sub-selects as a Table. It's just named "fred". Once your select holds all the data you need, then export the data to the spreadsheet. Use
the horsepower of the database before trying to do a multple update of the same spreadsheet.
Does this give you enough to fix what you were trying to do?

2. Another thing is where should I deploy my all RDF reports in 9IAS?
3. In 9IAS no Web DB listener is present so how it can be possible to run the reports through web?

2. The Reports RDF files will be deployed in Report server tier, i.e the place you
have installed your Business Inteligence componentes of 9iAS.
3. In 9 iAS, Report servlet/JSP can be run inside oc4j container. Report cgi can be
run the default http server present in 9iAS. Refer the 9iAS rel-2 manulas for more information
