How to use BC4J framework  outside JDeveloper?

BC4J is certainly a very excellent framework for J2EE business component development, but is it only supported in JDeveloper? If it is possible that I write a BC4J application not using the wizard in JDevelper?

If you prepared XML and optional Java classes that look the same as the ones the JDeveloper-hosted BC4J Design Time wizards produce, then they will work fine.
It would require either:
1. Studying the BC4J XML file DTD and perhaps studying an example of each kind of XML file (Entity Object, View Object, Association, View Link, Application Module, Domain), along with producing any optional Java classes using the same conventions (and extending directly or indirectly from the right framework base classes) as the wizards produce.
or
2. Writing Java code that uses the BC4J Design Time objects API in oracle.jbo.dt.objects.* package to programmatically produce the XML and Java artifacts for your components. Unfortunately, this API is not documented, but it is well tested.

  • Maintaining page stack using BC4J framework

We are developing a web application using JDeveloper(using bc4j+struts) in which list of functions are available in the tree menu on the left side. On clicking any function three tabs are displayed in the main body which are search, result list and maintenance. Now let's say user did some search on function A by entering some criterias and clicking the search button and output is shown in the result tab. Now user goes to another function B and does some operation. Now the requirement is that when the user returns to function A the previously set search criteria should remain. This is required for all functions. Without persiting in the web tier (HttpSession) what is the best way to do this using BC4J framework. Should I design View Objects with all transient attributes for each of the screens and use the application module in stateful mode? What can be the best and generic way to solve this?
Note that we will have several combos (LOV) which are themselves mapped to a view object in the search page.

I need to add some security related headers to the soap message, SO I am trying to use a handler.  I want to know how to configure this handler in SOAP axis adapter module.
    Thank you

    Ravi ,
I am trying exactly the same. Hers is the scenario.

Since This is service is secured, means it is using OASIS web servie securyty user name token,
I am trying to use AXIS adapter. and I want to configure HandlerBean in which I want to use apache wss4j api to add the userNameToken. I am looking for some documentation on this.
I need to add SOAP action element too as I can not configure this one on the communication channel.

  • How to use BC4J with JDeveloper 9i in a Team

    Hello
I'm not sure if I'm to stupid, but to say the truth I didn't found the clue how to share a BC4J Application between several develeopers. Maybe someone can give me a hint.
    That's my situation:
Our team is going to develop a web application using BC4J and BC4J-JSP, nothing special I think.
But my problem is, that BC4J and especially the wizards refer to a lot of different files. Even simple changes often result in multiple files being changed in different parts of the project.
Creating a view link between view objects in two packages for example changes the view objects in both packages. Also the project (.jpr) file or several "BC4J.xcfg" files are changed very often.
So it is not easy to find parts of code from which I can say they are owned by one developer and others which are owned by another. Most often, if you have to merge the work of different developers, you have to edit the BC4J-XML-Files using an external editor. Or did someone find a better way? Please tell me!
So, what is the best way to share code between developers?
Should I partition the application by packages?
    - advantage:
    it allows a fine partitioning
    - disadvantages:
it has the great danger that BC4J makes changes in other packages which will be overseen when merging.
Should I create a projects for each developer and distribute code between the projects using libraries?
    - advantage: no unseen changes will happen, as the libraries are readonly.
    - disadvantages: no view links between view objects in different projects (Libraries) are possible! Also a lot of "load errors" can occure when updating a library, which have to be manually corrected in the dependent projects.
Are source code management systems a real help in this problem or do they just "manage" the problem? I already tried SCM and PVCS but was not very happy with the way of working. As JDeveloper is not "really easy" to use with theese tools.
So I would like to get any hints how other developers are dealing with this problem. Are you using BC4J with JDeveloper 9i in a team? Please tell me how do it and how you have partitioned your application.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
I'm not sure whether my answer is good enough for you, but it might help.
First of all, you have to use JDev 9.0.3, because 9.0.2 has big problems with associations/view links between objects in different projects.
Creating a view link between view objects in two packages for example changes the view objects in both packages. Also the project (.jpr) file or several "BC4J.xcfg" files are changed very often. This is not completely true in 9.0.3, as you may choose not to create an accessor in the imported object (and usually you don't need it neither!). As for bc4j.xcfg, there is a trick: define a "standard" database connection name to use all over your project! This will prevent modifying these files all the time!
Should I create a projects for each developer and distribute code between the projects using libraries?
    - advantage: no unseen changes will happen, as the libraries are readonly.
    - disadvantages: no view links between view objects in different projects (Libraries) are possible! Also a lot of "load errors" can occure when updating a library, which have to be manually corrected in the dependent projects.I would say, projects for each application component, which by chance will be managed by a single developer at a time.
As for the disadvantages, in 9.0.3 you are able to properly create associations and links using read-only objects. Hopefully, the release version will solve some generation inconsistencies...
Concerning the errors that occur when modifying a library, this might be balanced by the relative independence of the components... If you are able to develop following the dependency tree, you will not meet the problem very often.
Are source code management systems a real help in this problem or do they just "manage" the problem? I already tried SCM and PVCS but was not very happy with the way of working. As JDeveloper is not "really easy" to use with theese tools.Indeed, I do not have a SCMS really able to manage merges in the BC4J XML files... We rather try not to arrive there!
So I would like to get any hints how other developers are dealing with this problem. Are you using BC4J with JDeveloper 9i in a team? Please tell me how do it and how you have partitioned your application.I really hope that my hints will help.

  • How to use different Vlans outside another gateway in sg-300 28?

    dear all
how shall i use different vlans outside another gateway in sg-300 28?
    Example:
    vlan2 192.168.2.0/24 gateway 192.168.2.1 outside router gateway 192.168.2.254
    vlan3 192.168.3.0/24 gateway 192.168.3.1 outside router gateway 192.168.3.254
should me doing in sg-300 28?
    thanks.

    Hi Amin,
Leave the switch in Layer 2 mode
Cable  VLAN2  to the to the outside router gateway 192.168.2.254 interface
cable  VLAN3  to the to the outside router gateway 192.168.3.254 interface
    Excuse the rough diagram
Make the port going to the outside router gateway,  untagged in the vlans they will be transporting. (I am assuming that the router gateway is not vlan aware.)
IP hosts will most likely get DHCP from the router gateway.  The IP hosts will then automatically send IP traffic to the router gateway.
VLAN 1 in my switch,  could  then be the only interface within the switch  that has a IP address associated  with it,  for management purposes.
    I can see from you post,  that English is not your first language,  if you want to speak to someone,  you can ask a question by going to;

  • How to use Remote Debugging in JDeveloper 3.1 ?

I am trying to use the Remote Debugging option with EJBs in JDeveloper 3.1 with Oracle8i 8.1.6.
I checking all steps the online walkthrough for Remote Debugging EJB in 8i and it didn't work.
I'm using Oracle8i EJB/CORBA debug option in project properties, but it does not stop in my EJB's break points.
I tried deploying the EJB again ( with break points) and again it didn't work.
The error message I got in the trace file is:
    Errors in file D:\Oracle\admin\SCT\udump\sctS000.TRC:
ORA-29516: Aurora assertion failure: Java thread deadlock detected
Could someone please tell me how to use it?

Which platform is the database running on ??
Other things you should check -
    when debugging the EJB, JDev
3.1 looks through your IIOP connections to find the one to use.
Make sure that the IIOP connection that JDev is using for the debugging matches the IIOP connection that the EJB client application is using.

  • How to use BC4j.

I want to create new methods to add in my application and I'm doing a single application(text interface) how I use my application module or my view object to generate new methods to my application and how can I call these methods in my application .
    Thank's

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but you can create a new method in the Java file of the Application Module and then in the application module properties dialog in the client section expose it to outside users.

    Hi Eric,
    Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I have stored my rules file in MDS(File based... both in resource palltte and application resources).
But how to use this in other application.
While creating Business rule in other application it is allowing us to import files from the same application.

  • How to use Enhancement Framework in ECC 5.0 and 6.0

    hi
is there any good tutorials on enhancement framework? i have gone through the help but its not very clear. if anyone has stepby step guide will be useful.
    ~Suresh

This is an old question... but i think it is very useful for the developers if anyone search it and find my answer relevant like it with immediate effect.....
    What is Enhancement Framework?????????
Enhancement Framework is the new paradigm to bring all enhancement techniques under one roof. It can also be switched using Switch Framework. The following are different enhancement technologies available under this framework.
    • Source Code Enhancement
    • Function Group Enhancement
    • Class Enhancement
    • Kernel-BADI Enhancement
Semantically related enhancement options are grouped under a ‘Simple Enhancement Spot’. ‘Composite Enhancement Spot’ contains one or more of Simple and other Composite Enhancement Spots. On the other hand (implementation side), various related implementation elements are grouped under a ‘Simple Enhancement Implementation’. A ‘Composite Enhancement Implementation’ can contain one or more of Simple and other Complex Enhancement Implementations.
    1.Source Code enhancement
Whenever enhancement needs to be incorporated directly into the ABAP source code, this technology shall be provided. Implementing this technology is also called as Source Code Plug-In. There are two types of Source Code enhancements possible.
    • Implicit enhancement option
    • Explicit enhancement option
    >>>Implicit enhancement option
Throughout the ABAP system, enhancement options are automatically available at certain pre-defined places. Some of the implicit options are:
    • At the end of all the programs (Includes, Reports, Function pool, Module pool, etc.), after the last statement
    • At the beginning and end of all FORM subroutines
    • At the end of all Function Modules
    • At the end of all visibility areas (public, protected and private) of local class
******Note that, in order to implement any of these Source code enhancements, you need to be in the ‘Change Enhancement mode’ (the spiral icon available in the editor). Technically the source code plug-in implementations are stored in a separate include program and not as part of the original source program.***********
    >>>>Explicit enhancement option
The Implicit enhancement options are provided at specific source code places explicitly by SAP (Note that these enhancement definitions can also be created by partners and customers in their code).
There are two types of Explicit Enhancement options available. One which can be provided at a specific place - called Enhancement Point, and another which can be used to replace a set of statements – called Enhancement Section. For this, we now have two new ABAP statements, viz.
    • ENHANCEMENT-POINT
    • ENHANCEMENT-SECTION
When the Enhancement-Section is implemented, only the implementation gets executed and the original code doesn’t get executed. This is a new technique, which didn’t exist previously in any of the old ways of enhancing, to exclude any standard SAP code from execution. Because of this, there can be only one active implementation of an Enhancement-Section. On the other hand, there can be multiple active implementations of an Enhancement-Point, in which case all the implementations will be executed with no guarantee in the order of execution.
we mainly use above framework .......if nybody need further and more information let me knw...

I am working on the mapviewer. But my problem is that I can not connect mapviewer, or I can not start mapviewer using the embedded oc4j by jdeveloper. In mapviewer faq I read that:
"How do I view the mapping metadata through JDeveloper's Connections Navigator?
We have developed an Oracle JDeveloper extension that lets you browse the available list of styles, themes and basemaps defined in a datasource through JDeveloper's Connections Navigator. To do this, you will first need to download the mvconnection.jar file from OTN's MapViewer site. This jar contains the code that defines a MapViewer connection type for JDeveloper. To install, simply drop this jar file to the JDeveloper extension directory, normally $JDEV_HOME/jdev/lib/ext. Then restart JDeveloper, and you are all set.
