How to use dbxml as a stand alone server?

Dear All
Is there any way to launch dbxml as a stand alone server?
What I want to do is the following.
I am using PHP and creating a web site on which users can search information stored in dbxml.
So far each time client (browser) come to the page,
php code opens the database and containers as
$env = new Db4Env();
$env->open(path, DB_CREATE | DB_INIT_LOCK | DB_INIT_LOG | DB_INIT_MPOOL | DB_INIT_TXN);
I wonder if I can run the dbxml as like daemon, so that I do not need to open the database each time,
and only thing I need to do is to connect to the server.
Thank you for any advise or comments in advance.

not only should you do this, but you have to do it to make sure that your database does not get corrupted in a multi request/multi threaded environment. However, there are weird requirements when working with recovering databases and corruption, especially in a dynamic language. We are using python and then coded a front end server with the Twisted framework with a lot of success (single threaded access to manage corruption). Then, all of our web apps talk to the twisted server in the same way as you would a mysql server. It is python, but if you are interested in working with it I can try to get this code out to you personally (I've been wanting to open source the code for a while now) - or if you want to do the same in php I can get you the big concepts which make it different than a traditional mysql or http server.
Email me at eleddy at janushealth dot com if you are interested - it could be a long discussion :)

  • Using Lightroom 5 as stand alone to convert RAW, then save to CS2?

I am a professional photographer, and I am perfectly happy with my CS2 version of Photoshop, as I can get it to do everything I need, without spending another $600 on the newest version.
Unfortunately the new camera I purchased needs either CS6, or Lightroom 4-5 to process the RAW files.  Can I simply purchase Lightroom and use it as a stand alone product, then save the file as a tiff to further work on it in my CS2?

Yes, you can do that. You can designate Photoshop CS2 as your external editor. When you choose to edit in Photoshop you will receive a warning that camera raw is out of date, and you can choose to render a copy with Lightroom adjustments. You can configure Lightroom so that the copy will either be a PSD or TIF image. I think most people prefer TIF. Then you can instruct Lightroom not to show that option anymore. From that point forward any time you choose to edit in Photoshop Lightroom will create the TIF image and pass it on. When you save the changes in Photoshop those changes will be reflected in the TIF image that is in the Lightroom catalog.

  • Issue while deploying dynamic region to stand alone server

    Hi,
In my application there is one page I have panel splitter, where i have drag and dropped menu-taskflow as regionModel, and created dynamic region on second facet panel.
    <af:region value="#{bindings.menutaskflow1.regionModel}" id="r1"/>
    <af:region value="#{bindings.dynamicRegion4.regionModel}" id="r2"/>
I have created application level class to handle dynamic region loading.
This settings are working fine when i run application with integrated web logic server, When I deployed my application to stand alone server, its giving me exception as
java.lang.IllegalStateException: The expression "#{bindings.menutaskflow1.regionModel}" (that was specified for the RegionModel "value" attribute of the region component with id "r1") evaluated to null.
This is typically due to an error in the configuration of the objects referenced by this expression.
If it helps, the expression "#{bindings.menutaskflow1}" evaluates to "null".
If it helps, the expression "#{bindings}" evaluates to "null". Now using an empty RegionModel instead.

  • PI 7.0 Java stack config of the stand-alone server to  new cluster system

    Hi colleagues,
we have a PI installation in stand alone server (SAP with abap +
java and Oracle in the same server)
The system number of the ABAP stack is 00, and we are conecting to the
Java stack to the for example the URL
    http://hostname:50000/rep/start/index.jsp
We have installed a new PI in a MSCS and in some weeks, we´ll have to
copy the database and configuration of the stand-alone server to the
new cluster system. In the SAP PI installation on the MSCS, we have
confirmed that with the ABAP stack, we won´t have any issue because the
ASCS has the system number 00 (message server), so we only have to
install a SAP system in each nodes without care these new system
numbers because we are configuring a Logon group but the question is in
the Java stack... The SCS (service in the cluster) has the 01 system
    number...
What is the best way to keep the same URL to the Java stack that in the
    stand-alone server? (remember:
    http://hostname:50000/rep/start/index.jsp )
Have we to install a Webdispatcher in the MSCS and one Java stack in
each node of the cluster? we think that is right but we have a lot of
doubts about the URL, the files of the Java (if they are stored in
local disk in one node, how are they replicated to the second node?)
    and so on....
Could you give us any suggestion to make the "migration" from the stand-alone to a cluster in a transparent way for the users?
Thanks in advanced and kind regards !!

    Thanks a lot.

  • How to include dll into a stand-alone application

Hi, I wrote a vi to process images from my camera, and I want to build a stand-alone application(exe), so I can share the application with my friends. I just do as wht's in  the Labview help, but when I run the exe file in other PC, it  tells me I haven't nivision.dll etc. My question is how to find out the dll files in my vi and include these files in the stand-alone application?

To be honest I am not sure. Its been a while since have used the vision run-time engine. Before I installed it on the target computer. I ddn't include it with my application build.
Take a look at this http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/1A9A18AA574ABEDF86256F780062C240 it might help. Also look at the documentation supplied with the vision deployment license.

  • How do I reuse the existing stand-alone CFM application codes on J2EE CF9

    Hi all,
Our ColdFusion installation runs on a stand-alone ColdFusion server. Now we would like to upgrade to ColdFusion 9 with J2EE configuration. Is there a way to 'reuse' the existing ColdFusion application codes on the ColdFusion J2EE, WITHOUT moving these codes into a location under the J2EE?
    To clarify my question:
The existing CFM application structure looks like this:
    D:\MyCFApp\folder1\....
Under J2EE, the folder structure looks like this:
    D:\MyJ2EEHomeDirectory\Adobe_ColdFusion_9.ear\cfusion.war\...
I would like to keep the CF application codes under D:\MyCFApp\folder1\....
I can bring up the CF9 Admin Console just fine. What I would like to see is if there's a way for CF9 to recognize the folders OUTSIDE the J2EE directory structure.
I tried the adding some Mappings on the CF9 Admin Console but no luck.
    Any advice/input is greatly appreciated!

The solution is not in CF Admin mappings, but rather in web server mappings. You need to tell your web server how/where to find the CFML files, and then configure the web server (using the CF web server configuration tool) to have it hand CF pages to CF for processing.
You may find helpful information in 2 of the CF docs, the Installation guide, and the Administration and Configuration guide. If you visit any page of the CF9 docs, you'll see all the manuals listed on the left.
That said, the J2EE configuration is the least well-documented of them all, since things can change from app server to app server. You've not even said which app server you're using: jboss, tomcat, glassfish, resin, weblogic, websphere? And each of those have different support for various web servers. So there's a limit to how much Adobe will document about getting such things working.
Also, relatively few in the CF community use the J2EE deployment--and many who do only "play with it", so may only use the built-in dev web servers that many app servers come with. When it comes to configuring things for production and integration with real web servers, they may not have any experience to share.
But if after reading the above you have more specific questions, fire away and perhaps some here can help.

Tthis class is undocumented and this is the reason why you will not find any documentation. This is not the correct way for a client to authenticate to the is in v6. You need to use the JAAS API. I do not believe that the AuthPrincipal sample works in 6.

Can this be done just from  the prompts tab in the report?

  • Running the G server and labview web server as a stand-alone serve

    Hello,
Now I am running the G web server from the Internet toolkit cooprating with the Labview default web server because I need the server to handle both GCI reguests and the requests of the remote panel.
Now I have a question. Is there any way to make these two servers as stand-alone applications and also make it to be window service ( I think if I could make them the stand-alone applications, making them to be window services would be easy)? I just want the web server to be a stand-alone application without installing the Labview (just installing the run-time engine) on one machine. Could this be done? Thank you very much.
    Best Regards,
    Benjamin Chu

    Hello Benjamin,
for running a LabVIEW application as Windows Service is here a tutorial.
I formerly tried to get the G web Server into an application and I know there were some dynamic VIs loaded by the HTTP Server Control.vi and some SubVIs. I never tried this seriously enough to get it running.
You need at least to put the VIs vi.lib\addons\internet\http\http0.llb\HTTP Server, vi.lib\addons\internet\http\http0.llb\srvr_%02d.vi (%02d is part of a format into string with a for loop index), HTTP Load Configuration Files.vi as dynamic VIs into your build definition.
Running the G Web Server and looking at the VI hierarchy is not for help because for some reasons the G Web Server VIs will not show up in the VI hierarchy window.

  • 2008 stand-alone server acs software available?

I am using acs 4.2 on a windows 2003 server sp2 in my current network. The network is being replaced and I am being given a windows 2008 software/server and to build the app. I am  a little confused as too the available software. The only 5.4 acs software I see is for the appliance and vmware. What software is there available for standalone servers that in not end-of-life ?  Or do I use acs 4.2 on the standalone server and upgrade it all the way to 5.4. I would think they would have a base package at one of the 5.x levels..Any information would be appreciated

    Hi ,
I would like to inform you about the following things:
    1. ACS 5.x cannot be installed on the widnows server as ACS 4.x
    2. ACS 5.x can only be installed on the vmware (Linux based) or comes as an applaince.
    3. ACS 4.x is a windows based box and ACS 5.x is a linux based appliance/VMware
    4. You can configure vmware or an appliance as a stand alone ACS5.x box.
5.ACS 4.2.1.15 is available till now and is not end of life yet.
    6. You can upgrade the ACS 4.2.0.124 to 4.2.1.15, However its not compatible with windows 2008 r2 box.
7.You cannot upgrade the ACS 4.2 to ACS 5.4, You will have to purchase a seprate license for ACS 5.4 and then you can migrate the database from 4.2 to 5.4

  • Web Services - Issue with running OC4J stand alone server from JDeveloper

I created a stand alone OC4J App. server instance in JDeveloper. I deployed my Webservice (WebServices.deploy) to that OC4J server.
Now I want to test my web service. I opened a browser window and I specfied the URL as
    http://localhost:<RMI Port#>/<Project1>-context-root/<Webservice name>.
    Default RMI Port#23791.
    http://localhost:23791/<Project1>-context-root/<Webservice name>.
and I am getting the following error message
ã vInvalid protocol verification, illegal ORMI request or request performed with an incompatible version of this protocolvInvalid protocol verification, illegal ORMI request or request performed with an incompatible version of this protocol.
Could you please let me know, what's going on.
    Thanks!

OK, so there's two threads in this email.
    1. When using a Web browser client and an OC4J standalone instance, the default address of the OC4J website is http://host:8888/.
The port you keep referring to is the ORMI port. That is a different protocol that is used with EJBs, and our remote deployment mechanism. As you have observed, JDeveloper uses it to deploy to the OC4J instance.
    2. The root problem you are seeing is related to the message you posted on the console.
OC4J 10g (10.1.3) Default Web Site. Application: bc4j does not exist. Error creating Web application: webapp
Because this web app is misconfigured, its not starting so you can't access it.
In the j2ee/home/config/default-web-site.xml file, there is a reference to an application called BC4J -- which is not available on the server as a deployed application.
So you need to correct that situation -- BC4J is not normally present in a vanilla OC4J standalone distribution.
You can try editing the j2ee/home/config/default-web-site.xml file and remove the <web-app> entry that mentions BC4J and then try starting OC4J.
If you don't have a lot of time invested in configuring the instance, you could also try extracting oc4j_extended.zip again and starting with a fresh one.
