How to use many submit buttons in an one html form

I'm doing a simple program to insert, edit, delete data from a web page to an database
but the problem is that in an html form , you are allowed to put only 1 submit button.
I heard that you can take the action of many buttons, for a one form using java script
if anyone have a better idea or else have this simple java script, please help me
Thank you very much

Give the buttons an unique name.
In the servlet just check if the button is pressed or not by determining if HttpServletRequest#getParameter() doesn't return null for the button name. There are a couple of "gotchas" when using this technique of dispatching with certain html controls. Most of them browser related.
If you are using <input type="image" name="myButton"> as a submit button, be aware that Internet Explorer will submit the parameters "myButton.x" and "myButton.y" giving the x,y co-ordinates of where you clicked on the button. And won't submit any other value. So calling request.getParameter("myButton") would return null. You have to test for request.getParameter("myButton.x");
If you are using <input type="button" name="myButton"> with Internet Explorer all of the buttons are deemed "successful". So calling request.getParameter("myButton") will never return null.
At least thats the way it works in IE6. And thats what I'm stuck with at work right now, so thats what gets used. It may be fixed in later versions, but I don't have any info on that.

  • REP-50134 occurs when using the submit button on the Reports Parameter Form

    Good Morning,
I get the "REP-50134: Cache subitem reports does not exist" error after clicking on the Submit Button from a Reports parameter form.
    I am using Forms/Reprots 9i.
Using the source code given in the Whitepaper 'Oracle Forms Services - Using Run_Report_Object() to call Reports with a parameter form', all works well when paramform=no, but when I have a Form print a report with paramform=yes, the parameter form appears correctly, but generates the error after clicking the Submit Button.
Any inputs as to causation or possible places to look to solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hello and thanks.
The value in the tag is <form method=post action="reports?">
Looking at this I suspect my problem is related to this setting. I am trying to follow all the instructions in the White Papers but they are a little confusing as they are not all exactly the same. Each attempts to explain a specific functionality without regards to the whole.
For instance I believe I need to have the variables P_ACTION, P_USER_CONNECT and P_SERVER_NAME in the report being called and then add a Before Parameter Form trigger to reset the values. But this seems to duplicate and override what has already been sent via the REPORT_OTHERS property. It is a tad bit confusing.
    Can you confirm?
Thanks for any clarification you can provide.

  • How to use the submit button without an email address

We are changing the way one of our forms is used.  Previously the "submit by email" button opened up an email with a specific TO: address.  Now we like to have the user put in the address but still have the form attached to the email when it is opened.
Has anyone done this or does anyone have an idea how we can accomplish this?

Place a HTTP submit button in your form and update the User Entered email using the below script.
    YourHTTPSubmitButton.event__click.submit.target = "mailto:" + txtEmailField.rawValue

  • How to use email submit button with webmail; not a desktop email client

We've made a form that will submit data via an xml attachment to an email. It was all tested as fine (using Adobe Reader 7...) and has been deployed - DISASTER.
People using Adobe Reader 8 cannot choose to save the xml file. AR 8 just opens up their default email client. If they use webmail and it's not on the list of default email clients (IE/Tools/Options/Programs)then we don't seem to be able to get the xml data out.
How can you get AR 8 to give you a choice of what to do with the xml data when a user clicks the Submit by email button? Just like the email client choice in AR 7!!!! Please, if anybody from Adobe sees this, help us...

Did you ever get a solution to this problem. I have several clients who use internet email and it always worked with earlier versions of reader because it would display the "Select Email Client pop up.
    Please let me know.

  • Using a submit button, how can I include a data key and a message in the body of the email??

I have a form that I have created in LiveCycle with a submit button to have the completed form emailed to a specific person. I have it set up with a message in the body of the email, but I am looking to add an additional message based on the results of one of the fields in the form....is this possible without major script writing?
I am not a programmer, but willing to learn some script.

Yep! And if you absolutely need (or think you need) that functionality, it is worth every penny.
As Don already pointed out, exactly what the recipient sees will depend on how they've set up their machine and what unnecessary 3rd party apps they might've installed to display attachments the way they want.
In theory, that is true. In practice, Attachment Tamer will cause more of your messages to show up as plain-jane icons on the other end. The problem is, after all, people running Outlook 2003 and 2007. These people likely aren't doing many system modifications.
If I were you, I'd use the free solutions provided above, save my money and let my recipients decide how they will handle their mail.
    I completely agree.

  • I created a form and I'm not sure how to make the 'submit' button send me the collected information.

Hello everybody. I am a web designer (NOT a developer)
I created a form and I'm not sure how to make the 'submit' button send me the collected information.
I have used phpform.org/ to custom build a submission form. Then I opened that html in dreamweaver (so that I could edit colors, fonts, and delete the phpform.org advetisement)
Now I need to link the 'submit button' so that it will e-mail me the completed form.
(formphp.org wants me to subscribe to a servie that I pay for in order to have the form e-mailed to myself.)
(after I get the submit button linked to an e-mail I will pull the html of my completed form into Muse- but I don't think that is really relevent)
I'm sure one of you can help point me in the right direction! I can't write my own code so detailed help is appreciated!

I'm afraid not.    It's not rocket science but you need to do some coding.
You'll need to find a script (php) and save it to your local site folder.  Then reference the script in your form's action attribute like so.
         <form action="path/form-to-email-script.php" >
The input fields in your HTML form need to exactly match the script variables.
I'm  assuming you're hosted on a Linux server which uses PHP code.  Linux servers are also case sensitive, so upper case names are not the same as lower case names.  It's usually best to use all lower case names in your form and script to avoid confusion.

  • Use of submit button

    Hello,
    could somebody help?
I'm trying to put a text button plus a submit button in order
for the website viewer to enter some text and click on the submit
button to transfer the content to an emailaddress.
The problem: how to make the submit button work?
    Thanks for your help,
    Jean-Claude

There are only two ways to process form data -
    1. Use mailto:[email protected] as the action of the form
    2. Use a server-side scripting method to a) harvest the
    form's data, b)
process it in some manner, e.g., enter it into a database, c)
    formulate and
send an email to one or more email recipients, and d)
    redirect the visitor
    to some ending page
Method 1 is quite simple, and is also the least reliable. It
    depends both
on your visitor having an email client already installed on
    their computer -
this eliminates public computers, or home users without email
    clients
installed (more and more it seems) - and on the installed
    email client
    responding to
the mailto call. It is not possible to use this method *and*
    send the
    visitor to a
    thank you page as well.
Method 2a is the preferred method, since it eliminates the
    problems of
    method
1, but it means that you have to grapple with
    server-scripting somehow (ASP,
    CF, PHP, perl, etc.).
Method 2b would be to use some third-party form processing,
    like
    http://www.bebosoft.com/products/formstogo/.
You would have to decide which of these methods is best for
    your needs,
but if it's Method 2a, then start by asking your host what
    they provide for
    form
processing. If it's 2b, then read their FAQ/instructions
    carefully.

  • Which form would work best with a Filemaker database? PDF or HTML? and can we use a submit button to do this?

We are looking at developing work forms for a project that will use a submit button to send the data from the form to a Filemaker database. My question is can this be done with a PDF or do we need to convert it to a HTML form?

The architecture is not submit form - database, not exactly. It's submit form - web app - database. The crucial thing is the web app, perhaps one of CGI/PHP/ASP/others... FileMaker Pro seems a slightly unusual choice for a web back end, but there is a FileMaker Pro Server product. (Regular FileMaker is out of the question).
So, you can have a web app which takes HTML format submits and updates a database. What about PDF?
    * PDF can submit the same format as HTML, so the same backend can work
    * PDF can submit other formats, FDF or XFDF. The web script could handle these.
Frankly, if HTML is an option I'd go with HTML. There are many important compatibility issues with PDF forms, since so many browsers now do not use Adobe technology, and have their own. In these alternatives, form support goes from nonexistent to flaky, via badly broken.

  • How to use a back button in action pages?

    Hi all,
I have created a user login page, home page and user profile page.
If the user provide correct username and password in the login page he will be taken to home page.
In the home page he will be having his username and a link to view his profile.
When the user click on the link "My Profile(user profile)" he wil be taken to that page.
In my profile page the user can edit only his firstname, lastname and password .
On the user profile page i have placed a Back Button(using javascript: on onclick event i have used history.back()) to go back to home page after editing his profile.
If the user edit his profile for n-number of times then atlast if he wants to go back to home page-then he wil cilck the back button.
Now the problem occurs like the back button not going to home page and it simply going back with the edited history.
How to use a back button in action pages; without repeating the actions done on the page; how to redirect to the users home page?
I simply used the hyperlink in userprofile page to go to home page but when i click onit it is displaying blank home page.
I'm using hibernate orm mapping; cflogin and cflogout tags.
    Any help appreciated,

I can see your problem. You may use javascript:history.go(-1), javascript:history.go(-2), ..., to go back one page, two pages, and so on. But how does one go back an arbitrary n pages? The link href="home.cfm" isn't a good solution for the browser. It makes a new call to the server which, as you may have discovered, can overwrite all the changes made at the browser.
You should use the Javascript variable history.length. If you open n links in succession, starting from page0.cfm, then the browser holds the value of history.length as n. So, experiment with something like
    <a href="javascript:history.go(-history.length)">Go home</a>
    or
    <a href="javascript:history.go(-history.length+1)">Go home</a>

I am currently using a submit button to send information to myself from the user of the form. Is there any way to change the name of the file that is emailed as a .pdf file according to some type of parameter or data set that is collected in the form?

Not programmatically. The attachment wil take the same name as the opened PDF. If you change the name of the PDF then it will change your form name as well. That cannot be done programmatically.

  • Is it possible to make 9.0 Pro work correctly using the "submit button?"

At one time, I was able to use the submit button after I enabled the Reader option. Today, however, using Acrobat 9.0 Pro, I am unable to get the submit button to work using the PDF option. I keep getting the message "Acrobat unable to connect to your email program." The syntax I'm using is mailto:[email protected] Any clues out there? Thanks for your replies.

This is an e-mail configuration issue on the client machine in most cases, not a PDF issue. In the past, you had to be set for MAPI mail service. This has changed with newer systems and versions of Acrobat, but it still seems to give folks problems. In any case, be sure you have a default e-mail package defined for Windows and check the configuration.
