How to use MOTU's effects?

Hello,
I am using a MOTU Traveller and just wondering if anyone knows how could I use Motu's DSP effects inside Logic?
Thanx

What effects? The DSP in the Traveler is for (near-zero latency) mixing only.

  • How to use Color Splash Effect in Photoshop CS6?

    Hi everyone
Can you guy help me out How to use Color Splash Effect in Photoshop CS6? I need to use in slide in my web
    Thanks

You mean "leave part in color and make the rest black and white"?
Just select or mask the part that should be B&W and desaturate, or use the B&W adjustment.
Or you can add a B&W adjustment layer and mask out the parts that should stay in color.

  • How to use X-Fi Effects without selecting SB as the default sound device?

How to use X-Fi Effects without selecting SB as the default sound device?Hello everyone,
    That's my situation.
I have Sound Blaster X-Fi Go sound card and I am using SRS HD Audio Lab. SRS HD Audio Lab was selected as the default audio device and X-Fi effects (X-Fi CMSS-3d, Equalizer etc.) was working without any problem in Windows Xp. I have Windows 7 now and when i select SRS HD Audio Lab as the default device, Creative effects are not working, i must select "SB X-Fi Go!" to get them working but i can't use SRS HD Audio Lab in that case. SRS is also using SB X-Fi Go sound card as the output and volume adjustment on console launcher is working but something is disabling the effects. Any solutions to enable effects ?
    Thanks.

If the kernel modules for your sound card and webcam both support the index parameter (use modinfo to find out) then adding
    options <name_of_preferred_card's_kernel_module> index=0
    options <name_of_second_card's_kernel_module> index=1
to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf (or another modprobe conf file of your choice) should solve the problem.

  • How to use the stabilizer effect on Adobe premiere elements 11

Can anyone show me how to use the video stabilizer effect on premiere elements 11 step by step ?
    Thank you !

I suspect that the principles would lend themselves to a step by step but how the effect works with your specific video will depend upon the degree of shakiness and other factors.
    1. Your video clip on the Timeline of a project with the project settings which match the properties of your source video (part of all works whether or not the Stabilizer is involved.
    2. Go to fx Effects Tab at the bottom of the Expert View, navigate to the Video Stabilizer and click on it to view its thumbnail. Drag the effect's thumbnail from there into the video clip on the Timeline.
3 I ran into an online excerpt of the Video Stabilizer in Adobe's Classroom in a Book, you may want to follow the path from there.
    http://books.google.com/books?id=7zdjWNElM1IC&pg=PT252&lpg=PT252&dq=premiere+elements+stab ilizer&source=bl&ots=YM4HHrmZAl&sig=MpFt6GJn7IkgESWBZ6sC6wA7aEM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=ZZ2zUbbVI5W3 4APDq4D4DQ&sqi=2&ved=0CHoQ6AEwBw
Also, you might want to put that information together with Adobe Effects Reference's description of the options iin the Applied Effects Palette/Stabilizer Panel.

(Scroll down until you get to Video Stabilizer options description.)
The above should supply with good starter information. If you need clarification on anything that I have written, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • How to use custom sound effects

One of the few good things one could do in Windows was to assign any sound effect you wanted to use to just about any operating system or other event.  For example, you could have Captain Pecard say "Minimize" whenever you minimized a window.
OS X (10.7 Lion in my case) doesn't make this as easy.  If you want to add your own sound effects to the pre-installed sound effects you get when you open System Preferences → Sound → Sound Effects, you must manually add them to the correct folder after first converting them into .aiff format.
I've done all this successfully, but I don't know the last step, namely, how to assign the new sound to a 'Custom' event.  I see my new sound files in the right place (System Preferences → Sound → Sound Effects), but it just says 'Custom' for the alert sount type.
    Help would be appreciated.
    Ted

So? Just select the name. BTW, all that does is select which one you want to use for ALERTs, nothing else. For anything else, such as those contained in
/System/Library/Components/CoreAudio.component/Contents/Resources/SystemSounds/f inder/ you need to rename the new sound as the original and put them into that same location.

  • How to use keyword tags effectively in pse 8

No matter what I try, have not been able to make keyword tags work effectively. Have followed all directions from books and others. Even customer support was not able to help.
The problem is that tagged photos will not show up by themselves. All other photos in the catalog open at the same time. The tagged photos sometimes show a blue circle with a white check mark through it. All the other photos show a red circle with a slash accross it in the upper left hand corner of the photos.
Customer support says that  that is how the program works. I don't believe it!
Wold uninstalling and reinstalling pse 8 work?
    Any other suggestions?

Would you consider suggesting a work-flow for someone who is just starting out with Organizer? (As an aside, if you are familiar with Picasa, would you give your opinion about the relative merits of Picasa and PSE Organizer?)
In all honesty, I can longer recommend the Organizer -- it's buggy, slow, hard to use, and Adobe shows little inclination for fixing bugs that have been around since PSE 6 or earlier.  (I use it because I have large catalogs dating back to Photoshop Album 1.)  See my review:
    http://www.amazon.com/review/R332BXA5A70OL9/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm
As for alternatives: At the low end, many people are satisfied with the free or almost-free programs: iPhoto, Picasa, Windows Live Photo Gallery (which in my opinion is better than iPhoto).  These are fast and easier to use than PSE and can handle thousands of photos.  For more sophisticated users with larger catalogs, many people like Lightroom, Aperture, Imatch, Idimager, and ACDsee Pro.

  • How to use Compressor / Limiter effect?

    Hello all,
I inserted a 2nd voice track that needs increased volume beyond raising the timeline volume bar. When I drop Compressor / Limiter effect onto the voice clips in the timeline and adjust Threshold(dB) there is no sound change at all. I have headphones on. I've tried all combinations of checking and un-checking Compression & Preserve Volume boxes. Am I missing a part of the set up on the audio clip itself?

2nd voice track that needs increased volume beyond raising the timeline volume bar
Try using the Dynamic Processor filter.
When I drop Compressor / Limiter effect onto the voice clips in the timeline and adjust Threshold(dB) there is no sound change at all
FWIW, you won't notice a change in the Compressor Limiter filer until you apply some amount of compression (increase the compression ratio).

I have had a similar problem and I share your pain.  The support for serial numbers in UCS is not great.  What's worse is that the Cisco Customer Service Centre (CSCC) are absolutely clueless about UCS so they will close requests where you quote the vendor serial number, as being invalid, and then try to tell you that what you have quoted isn't a UCS component.
For example, I've been trying to get the serial numbers of my two CPUs updated for over 2 months with CSCC (due to a DOA RMA).  CSCC have no idea what to do and continually close cases relating to this request stating that the chassis serial number is right, ignoring that it's the CPU serial numbers which I keep asking for that need to be updated.  Compounding that, the CPU serial numbers aren't accessible in CIMC unless I dismantle the server and actually pull the CPUs out to examine them.
I just hope that I don't need to ever have a CPU replaced one day, as none of the serial numbers will match when it happens.
What would be really useful is if there was an enhancement request in Bug Toolkit to gather all the correct details in UCS, much like there is in IOS ("show inv") for routers and switches.

  • How to use Photoshop elements more efficiently

I have a blog Jobs & Newspaper Job Ads i frequently used Adobe Photoshop and other Adobe products to make banners, advertisements and other things for marketing,I need help of how to use all tools effectively and which element shoud be applied first and which one last as i feel a bit diffcult to creat more complex and close to nature graphics.

I am unaware of a universal work flow.
Suggest the following considerations for your projects:
For printing, resolution should be 240-300 px/in. For web work, 72 px/in is ok
File>new>blank>file will allow you to set the parameters
    Optimize the background
Add your component graphics. Each should be on a separate layer. Ideally, the resolution of the graphics should be the same value as used in step #2
Make adjustments with adjustment layers, e.g. levels, brightness/contrast
    Sharpen last
Please post examples of your work in progress for additional guidance.

  • How do I export an animation from Photoshop with no background, to use in after effects?

Its been a few years since I've used photoshop and after effects together so hoping you can remind me how to do this.
I'm trying to export an animation created in photohop, its frame by frame, no background. I've been exporting it as an image sequence, now I"ve coloured it I need to solve this transparency issue.
Is there a way to export it to use in after effects on top of a background layer.
So I just want to see the character, no background, animation on top of my background layer in after effects, does that make sense??
Please don't say I need to have an alpha channel on each frame, that will take ages, there must be another way.
Please help I need to sort this ASAP
    Thanks in advance!
    x

    Thanks!
So this makes sense, I tried it, when I import into after effects (here is the psd.)
I get this window not sure what to be selecting, but I tried different things and it still isn't importanting as literally the animation with no background, have I missed something? whats strange is that when I import the psd, what does import is a strange monatage of snippets of the video I'm making in afterfx, not the completely separate animation i made in photoshop which I'm trying to work into the video.
very perplexing! any more help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • How to use the set functions effectively in webi ,please let me know with detail

how to use the set functions effectively in webi ,please let me know with detail

    Hi,
we use use set functions on heirarchies with aggregate functions mostly .
If you include member_set, Min returns the minimum value of the aggregated data for all members in the member set.
Member_set can include multiple sets separated by semicolons (;).
The list of member sets must be enclosed in {}.
If the member set expression does not specify a precise member or node, the hierarchy referenced must be present in the table, then the member set expression references the current member in the hierarchy in the table. If the hierarchy is not in the table, the function returns the message #MULTIVALUE.
    Eg .
    1)     Ancestor
    =Sum([YTD] ; {Ancestor([Test Hierarchy];2)})
    2)     IsLeaf
    =[Test Hierarchy].IsLeaf
You can use this function when you want to show your Measure only at lower level .
    3)     .Depth
    =[Test Hierarchy].Depth
This is also function used with hierarchy to find Level of Members .

  • How to use my external processor effects?

I have a lexicon processor and I want to know how to use it with logic.
    Thanks
    g5 ma' os   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I hope this info can help you.
The main Problem is that Logic don't have an delay compensation plugin like in nuendo or cubase "external FX"
Here is the info to compensate the delay coused by the D/A and A/D converters:
    6.30 How do I set-up record / playback / monitoring delay?
Subject: Record delay vs send/return using external effect units
You'd think that with modern multichannel audio interfaces and a modern, professional audio sequencer like Logic, this would be a piece of cake, right? It turns out that there are a number of potential traps, all to do with Logic's highly inadequate record delay compensation. What follows is a run through of the general setup procedure, using my RME Multiface.
    Basic Record/Playback delay Setup
Set up a 4/4 audio click track (trim the sample starts so they are right on the beats). Use real audio, not a software instrument. Rerecord the main outs to a new track via a hardware loopback cable (i.e. cable your audiocard's outputs into its inputs). Measure the clicks with reference to bars/beats in the Sample Editor - the clicks should be (but may not be) recorded right on the beat.
If the audio driver has a record delay parameter in samples, use that to adjust. If not - use the ASIO Buffer delay "IN" for coarse adjustment (multiples of buffer). Leave the ASIO Buffer delay "OUT" at zero. Use the main driver playback delay for final fine adjustment (samples). Do NOT use the Arrange window's delay parameter - it's in ticks and thus tempo-dependent!
So if you are playing in time with a prerecorded track, your playing is recorded in the correct position to preserve your exact timing on playback.
The use of the playback delay to compensate is not ideal, as it will mess with the playback timing vs displayed position of any audio - this has an adverse effect on fine editing, and MIDI-to-audio sync - but Logic unfortunately does not provide a sample-accurate record delay adjustment, and has not done so since version 3.5...
    Effect Return/Record Setup
You definitely want to avoid monitoring external FX returns through Logic if at all possible, since that would add 2x the audio buffer worth of latency to the return, which will adversely mess with the sound of any time-based effects (i.e. just about everything). So, monitor your external FX returns at source, or through direct hardware monitoring - in my case that's through RME TotalMix routed to the main outs for (near) zero latency.
You probably want to be able to record the external FX outputs into Logic (to free up the FX for other uses) and have it play back exactly as it was monitored, right?
Using your 4/4 audio click track, panned left, send to an external delay (approx 1/2 beat, single repeat). Pan the delay return R at source and monitor as above. Rerecord the main outs to new track via a hardware loopback cable. Measure the number of samples from a click to its delay in the Sample Editor
Now record the delay return signal to a new track. Playback just the audio click panned left & the recorded delay panned right. Rerecord the main outs to new track via hardware loopback cable. Measure the number of samples from click to delay in Sample Edit.
Both measurements must be the same for accurate recording of FX returns, but it's likely they won't be, probably because the playback delay has been messed with. Compensate by inserting a sample delay on the FX return Input Objects in Logic. Since you're not monitoring the FX returns through Logic anyway, the input delay will be recorded but not monitored (in 5.2+, but if you use an earlier version you're hosed since effects are not recorded).
Record the delay return again, play it back with the click, rerecord the outputs and measure again. Adjust the input sample delay until the recorded-&-played-back delay position is identical to the monitored delay.
    Live Input Monitoring/Recording
For accurate timing, monitor any live inputs at source or through direct hardware monitoring (TotalMix), the same as for FX returns. When recorded, playback timing will be accurate. Sends from live inputs to external FX can also be applied in at source or in TotalMix. No problem.
    Live Input Monitoring Through Logic
Here's where the problem starts. If you also plan to monitor some live inputs through Logic - to add Logic FX, or to control & automate the live inputs, or to add live inputs to a bounce, etc - then you'll be monitoring the live inputs with a latency of 2x the audio buffer size (or more if applied processing induces further delays). Therefore when you record a live input, on playback it will be early by that amount, since the record/playback delay is set up to compensate for zero-latency monitoring. What you heard live is not what you get on playback.
There's no set-&-forget way around this, since Logic won't let you apply a sample delay to an input without the delay also being applied to the input's monitor output from Logic. So using the same input delay trick you applied to recording the FX returns won't work - you'll wind up monitoring with even more delay, which will need yet more input compensation, and so on. You can't use the record/playback delay to compensate, because that would screw up the recording of source-monitored material.
You could conceivably monitor everything through Logic at all times, and use a single record/playback delay to compensate for all of it (with the editing & MIDI-to-audio sync shortcomings discussed, but on a larger scale as considerably more compensation is required), but that will screw with the sound of any time-based external FX as noted above.
So assuming you stick with source-monitoring the external FX returns, there are 2 options for correct playback timing of any recorded tracks that were monitored through Logic while recording:
1 - Output all such tracks to a bus, and place a Sample delay on that bus to compensate. This will correct the playback you hear, but it won't correct the bad positioning of the audio.
2 - Physically move the recorded audio later to compensate. Uh-oh - Logic's Arrange window is not sample-accurate. And it's not possible to move a newly recorded audio region later in the Sample Editor without adding samples to the start of the file, which is a tedious process if you've just recorded a number of tracks. You'll just have to get it as close as you can in the Arrange - bear in mind that ticks are tempo dependent, so you have to calculate the number of ticks based on the current song tempo (let's not even begin to discuss Audio vs tempo changes in Logic), or use the smallest SMPTE nudge available. No fun at all.
If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears...
    So what about OS-X?
In Logic under OS X, the CoreAudio driver setup panel doesn't have any record/playback delay setup. If you're optimistic, you might interpret that as an indication that it's all done automatically by CoreAudio and the driver. But given Emagic's history in this area, what's the bet it's currently a big fat inaccurate mess? Rumblings from the Mobile i/o list seem to indicate this...
