How to use preprocessor directives as in C?

I have a list of id's and corresponding names associated with them,i want to map the id's to the names during the first time program runs and to use the names after that instead of id's during run time(but not mapping the id to the name again and again during runtime,only once during the start of the program, something like preprocessor directives in c ) can this be done in labview.

Hi Amit,
      A G implementation of "#define" seems to imply pre-compile graphical substitutions - that would be interesting.  Of course it's not supported and a work-around seems necessary.  I began reading this thread with the same enthusiasm for Enums as tst, and Falkpl, but at this point Enums seem unsatisfactory, expecially in light of your criteria of "not mapping the id to the name again and again during runtime,only once during the start of the program" (that seems to rule-out falkpl's #define VI, but what about tst's idea of parsing the enum's string-representation?)
      In "C", instead of the #define, one might accomplish the very same effect (maintaing values in one place) with [global] constants.  LabVIEW has constants too - they can be defined in one place and wired to wherever they're used - why not do that?  Are you trying to achieve a specific "look" or "effect" on the diagram?
Cheers.
const int a = 50;
const int b = 10;
int main()
   int ch;
  while(1)
   scanf("%d",&ch);
   switch(ch)
     case a: printf("Hiiiii");
     break;
     case b: printf("Hello");
     break;

  • How to use cgi directly in FP 2000?

    I want to build a Web Server that includes using CGI
    in FP 2000.However, i don't want to include any VI when I use the CGI. One reason is the memory of the FP 2000 is not enough to add more VI. Can anyone tell me how to use CGI in FP 2000 directly? Thank you for your help.

    Hello,
    What you are trying to do is not a supported feature. The Internet Toolkit and the G Web Server for LabVIEW was developed and tested for its use under Windows only. R&D has not tested it running on an RT target. You might be able to load and start the G Web Server on RT, however there might be some files that you need to copy to get it to work.
    The G Web Server is what you should try to use. The server comes with the Internet Toolkit. There is no way to use CGI directly with FieldPoint without the G Web Server. I am not sure what you mean about not including any VI when using CGI. There is lots of information here about the Internet Toolkit http://www.ni.com/support/labview/toolkits/
    internet/. Once it is installed there is lots of documentation that comes with it.
    Good luck with developing your application.

  • How to use the direct bytebuffer in JNI? Accessing JDBC from C application.

    I am working on a project to access JDBC Driver within C application. The invocation JNI is used.
    To get better performance, I use the preparedStatement for dynamic sql. This need to transfer much parameter data from C to JDBC for PreparedStatement object in JVM. I think this maybe get improvements by using the new direct bytebuffer function from JDK1.4. However I cannot find an example code to get start. Could someone provide some ideas for this?
    Currently, I directly call JDBC API in C application through JNI, so there is no java codes. Only c file using JNI call.
    My understanding is to use the direct bytebuffer feature, I also need to have java codes to process the JDBC API call and then can share the same memory between Java and C. Please correct me if wrong.
    Any input is appreciated.

    I am trying to get the best performance for the solution, using JDBC libs in a C application. So I am considering to use the direct bytebuffer in the solution to pass parameters to JDBC and get result sets from JDBC side.
    For your questions,
    1. Why don't you just write the database access in C?
    You mean to directly call JDBC API in C through JNI, right? My plan is to wrap the JDBC API by java and expose seldom interface to C native code, so reduce the JNI call between C and JAVA. If directly call the JDBC API call from C, the number of JNI call maybe more.
    No I mean what I said. In C, no java at all, why don't you write code to access the database?
    2. The database access itself is going to be slower than anything that you do in C or java.
    Exactly. I just want to find each potential points to get performance improvements for the whole solution. I also did some optimization work for the database call. The goal is to get the best performance from C application to database through JDBC libs.
    Then I suggest you profile it.
    3. Why don't you use import/export files and the database tools? This is often significantly faster with volume processing.
    Sorry, I am not very familar with some functions of JNI. Could you explain, " +Why don't you use import/export files and the database tools+"?
    Nothing to do with java, jni nor C.
    Major (or perhaps everything that is a real 'database') comes with additional tools. Amounst those tools will be command line tools capable of importing and exporting data from the database. In processing bulk data they will always be faster than anything you can do in JDBC.

  • How to use Oracle Direct Connector for HDFS(DCH)?

    hi all,
    I am trying to use Oracle database to access HDFS through DCH. Now I installed Oracle database 11.2, hadoop-0.20.2 and DCH on the same linux machine.
    I also configured hdfs_stream properly and created Oracle directory HDFS_BIN_PATH according to README.txt file within DCH.
    Now I encountered a problem, how I create a external table which access data residing on HDFS?
    Can anyone help me ?
    Thanks in advance.

    I figure out the way which access HDFS data from Oracle External Table through DCH as below, but still face some problems
    Step 1
    Created Oracle directories as following:
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY hdfs_bin_path AS '/home/oracle/orahdfs/bin';
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY data_dir AS '/user/hadoop';
    where /user/hadoop is HDFS directory in which data file test.txt located.
    Step 2
    Created Oracle external table as following:
    create table xqs_ext_test(col1 varchar2(100))
    organization external (
    TYPE oracle_loader
    DEFAULT DIRECTORY data_dir
    ACCESS PARAMETERS (
    records delimited by newline
    preprocessor hdfs_bin_path:'hdfs_stream'
    badfile hdfs_bin_path:'empxt%a_%p.bad'
    logfile hdfs_bin_path:'empxt%a_%p.log'
    fields terminated by ','
    LOCATION ('test.txt'))
    reject limit unlimited
    parallel 2;
    when run SQL statement : select * from xqs_ext_test; the following error was prompted:

  • How to use the direct material indicator in Plan Driven Procurement?

    Dear Experts,
    How the system determine the procurement as direct material procurement in Plan driven scenario? In case of manual shopping cart, the system determines the direct material /indirect material procurement based on the check box 'Order as direct material'
    indicator.
    Now in case of plan driven procurement, where the requisition comes from ECC system, there is no way to indicate in the MM system for direct material?
    Could you please enlighten me here?
    Thanks and regards,
    Ranjan

    Hi Ranjan,
    In case of manual shopping cart, system at that point does not know whether the material procured has inventory management maintained or material valuation. Hence we need to specify option of 'Order as direct material'.
    But when requisition is created in ECC system, SAP system already is aware of direct procurement since material used will have material master / Inventory management / Material valuation / Storage location etc maintained. And the info or some indicator will be sent to front end SRM system accordingly.
    Moreover it does not really matter for front-end SRM system to check whether it's a direct or indirect procurement since all procurement processes followed in SRM will be exactly same.
    Hope this provides some kind of understanding for your questions.

    Use condition. If you are validating a record, just out the desired check in the condition field for that specific item.

  • How to use PooledConnection

    Hi all
    This problem can look funny to lot of you.
    I have project where i use Java on server side to perform some operation with MySQL. I have created connection to MySQL but there will be lot of users and connecting to database like i have done is not a option.
    public Connection Connecting() {         try {             String username = "username";             String password = "pass";             String url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/database";             Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();             conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);             System.out.println("Connection established on connecting to database");         } catch (Exception e) {             System.out.println("Database Connection Problem while creating connection:" + e);         }         return conn;     }
    Then i was informed that i can use Pooled Connection. From NetBeans tutorial i have learn how to create it.
    [http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/web/mysql-webapp.html|http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/web/mysql-webapp.html]
    There i nice explanation how to create server resource and how to use it directly on web page.
    <sql:query var="subjects" dataSource="jdbc/IFPWAFCAD">     SELECT subject_id, name FROM Subject </sql:query>
    But i need to use it in my Java class. How to use PooledConnection created on server (GlassFish)
    I was checking lot of web pages and all was talking about how to create PooledConnection but nothing with example how to use PooledConnection created on server already.
    If any one can give some code example.
    I have also checked this but i don't get it how to get data?
    [http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/javax/sql/PooledConnection.html|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/javax/sql/PooledConnection.html]

    You use the DataSource to get connections (by calling getConnection()). "jdbc/IFPWAFCAD" is the JNDI name for your resource and you use that to get the actual DataSource object that the container should've loaded for you. So you get the DataSource by it's JNDI name and then get connections from the DataSource. Once you have a Connection, you can do all the stuff you'd normally do with JDBC, using PreparedStatements etc.
    It's is advisable to use a DAO in order to separate your business logic from your data access logic. Check out this tutorial: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2008/07/dao-tutorial-data-layer.html]

  • Using Connect:Direct with SAP

    Folks,
    Client is using Connect:Direct to transfer the files from one location to another location.There are two table maintained namely T9AOA and T9AOB with Interface id and Unix scripting w.r.t Processing types respectively.
    1.I don't think these are SAP standard tables then why they are not named starting with Z or Y
    2.How to use Connect:Direct with SAP.
    Searched in SDN and google but didn't get any clear information on the above.From google I came to know this is a Product of Sterling Commerce(AT&T).
    Hope someone here who used Connect:Direct with SAP can share the info.
    Thanks,
    Kiran.

    Paky,
    The existing Design,had some tables which were maintained with required Unix Scripts.In the program we are just fetching that script from the table and building a Unix Command to move the files.There is also a URL using which we can check the status of the files.As I was just using the already existing design,don't have much info on how C:D connectivity can be designed from scratch.
    By Googling,I was able to get some info.May be it will give you some lead.

  • How to use preprocessor directives (#define) in C++ header file with LabVIEW 8.2

    I have a C++ header file that contains around 2000 preprocessor directives:
    #define MEM_1   0xC
    #define MEM_2   0xD
    #define MEM_3   0x18
    I want to be able to "access" these memory offsets by identifier name (MEM_1) in my LabVIEW program like I would in a C++ program.  I do not want the overhead of parsing through the header file and storing all the offsets into an array or similar structure.
    I've written a simple Win32 console program to return the memory offset given the identifier (see code below), and created a DLL to use with my LabVIEW program.  In the console program, you notice that I can call a function and pass in the identifer name, and get the offset back correctly:
    getOffset(MEM_1);
    In LabVIEW, I was hoping to be able to pass in the identifier (MEM_1) but was unsure what datatype to use.  In my C++ code, I defined the parameter as an int.  But in LabVIEW, I can't enter in MEM_1 as an int.   Can someone advise on how to do this?  Or if there is an alternate way to use #define's from external code inside LabVIEW?
    #include "stdafx.h"
    #include "scrmem.h"
    #include "stdio.h"
    void getOffset (int var);
    int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[])
     getOffset(MEM_1);
    canf("%d");
     return 0;
    void getOffset (int var)
     printf("The address of MEM_1 is %x", var);

    kaycea114 wrote:
    Hi,
    Where do you think I should use the string?
    The way that getOffset is currently defined in the DLL, I have to connect an integer input into the LabVIEW function.  This prevents me from entering in: MEM_1 as the input to the LabVIEW function.
    Are you suggesting that I change getOffset to receive a String parameter ("MEM_1")?  Does that mean I need to do a string compare (line by line) through the header file to get the offset?  It seems like doing this search through the header file would degrade performance, but if that's the only work around, then I'll do it.
    Please advise.
    Well, what you want to do is indeed entering a string and getting back the assigned integer. That is what the C preprocessor is doing too although there it is done only once at the preprocessor stage of course and not at runtime anymore. But LabVIEW is not a C preprocessor.
    What you did so far seems to be to define getOffset() that accepts an enum that needs to be created from the C source code to then return the assigned constant. That's of course not very helpful.
    And writing a VI that could parse the C header file and create a name/constant array is really a lot easier than doing the same in C. You don't even need to parse the file each time again, but can instead cache them in an uninitialized shift register (LV2 style global).
    Even more easy would be to create from that data a ring control using property nodes and save it as custom control and voila you have the most direct lookup you can get in LabVIEW and it works just as comfortable as using the define in C code. It would mean that you need to seperate your header file possibly into several different files to only get related constants into the same ring control, but that is easily done.

  • Okay so I set up my Time Capsule already and is now backing up 2 of my iMacs. Works great. What I want to know is how to use the TC to directly store files? I want to do this to delete some files but still have them on the TC for future reference..

    Okay so I set up my Time Capsule already and is now backing up 2 of my iMacs. Works great. What I want to know is how to use the TC to directly store files? I want to do this to delete some files on iMac 20inch but still have them on the TC for future reference..eg some movies on iTunes. I want to directly save them on the drive so I can delete them from iTunes and gain some storage. (Ps on iMac 20 inch (it's almost full - 320 GB) when I enter time machine, a tab comes up on finder which reads "Time Machine backups" it's able to be ejected like a disc or a connected device. On the iMac 20 inch, I dragged some files onto there as if using it like a hard drive. Is this the correct method? Then I went to my 27inch iMac and saw the "Time Machine Backups" hoping to see the files I dragged from the 20inch iMac. But the files were not there except a folder that said "Backups.backupdb". Can someone help me?

    It's not a good idea to use a network disk for both Time Machine backups and other things.  By design Time Machine will eventually consume all the space on its output disk, which will then cause problem for your other files.  I'd store those other files on an external disk connected to the Time Capsule.  The problem with that is that Time Machine will only back up files that are local to your Mac.  That means that you'll only have one copy of the files on or attached to your Time Capsule.

    Thank you.
    And another question if the data is already there in the child table if i try to load alone it must delete the old data in the child tablee and need to get load the new data and
    How to do this ?
    Arunraj Kumar
    You can do that with an IF EXISTS condition
    IF EXISTS (SELECT 1
    FROM YourChildTable c
    INNER JOIn @temptable t
    ON c.Bkey1 = t.Bkey1
    AND c.Bkey2 = t.Bkey2
    DELETE t
    FROM YourChildTable c
    INNER JOIn @temptable t
    ON c.Bkey1 = t.Bkey1
    AND c.Bkey2 = t.Bkey2
    INSERT INTO YourChildTable
    where Bkey1,Bkey2 etc forms the business key of the table
