How to use resultset preparedstatement

Thanks for the quick response
How can i use resultset  for the query below
select * from custom_table
where
(entity_name= 'PO_HEAD' and pk1_value = :P5_PO_HEADER_ID and pk2_value = '0' )
OR (entity_name= 'PO_HEADERS' and pk1_value = :P5_PO_HEADER_ID )
OR (entity_name= 'PO_VENDORS' and pk1_value = :P5_VENDOR_ID )

You should be able to read the file in and convert its data to a byte-array in your object. TopLink will handle the conversion from byte-array to BLOB in the database.
If you are using the Oracle thin JDBC drivers, they have a 5k size limit, if your file is larger than this you will need to use the Oracle8/9Platform in your login and a TypeConversionMapping and set the fieldClassification to java.sql.Blob.

    how to get resultset from oracle procedure use ejb3
    i know oracle procedure should like this
    Create or replace PROCEDURE resultset_test(
    aaa IN NUMBER,
    bbb OUT sys_refcursor) ....
    but what s the ejb3 scripts looks like? please give me an example or link~
    ths

    - there are no EJB3 scripts, only compiled application code
    - the part of the EJB spec that deals with databases is called the Java Persistence API, but likely you are just looking for the JDBC API.
    Now you should know what to Google to get your "example script": "java jdbc oracle procedure"

    help me!!!thanksOur driver is only at the JDBC 1.0 level in functionality. For jdbc 2.0 compliance, I
    recommend using either MS's new free type-4 driver or the good driver from

  • How to re-use a PreparedStatement from poolled connections?

    Consider poolled connections....
    one advantage of poolled connections are resource sharing...preventing the system from creating lots of connections or from creating and destroying similar connections.
    Connection and thread pools are specially usefull on multi-threaded servers.
    Consider now an application that has a service that logs the number of times a user has connected.
    This service is thread-safe, it is synchronized (bad) or it doesnt have state (good).
    Every time a thead is started in this service a connection is requested from the pool que the service finish logging it needs to release the connection back to the pool.
    This is done automatically by the Connection wrapper. When we do conn.close(); actually the wrapper is releasing the connection so that other threads and services can use it.
    Suppose the log service uses this PreparedStatement: "Update users set accessCount=accessCount+1 where userId=?"
    Because we are using connection pooling, every time the service is requested we possibly get a different connection object. Then, we cant store a PreparedStatement object locally.
    If we use a conn.prepareStatement, then we are creating a new PreparedStatement on every request. Isnt it? Then, we are not able to re-use PreparedStatements.
    Does anyone know a pratical way to re-use PreparedStatements in a multi-threaded server? In my case, this is a servlet.
    Thanks

    I can only speak about DB2 on the ISeries (AS/400) but to get the benifits of prepared statments it is not required to leave the preperedstatment object open. The first time a prepared statment is prepared against a connection: it takes a significant amount of time, subsiquent prepares for exactly the same SQL take practically no time.
    It may be different on with your database and driver but you should have a test!
    So if this is the case it is not a problem to create and close a prepared statment with every request, you will get the preformance increase after the 1st time the statment is prepared against the connection in question.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to use LIKE operator with PreparedStatement

    Hi, I need to execute a query with the LIKE operator, but using a PreparedStatement. Can I do this, and if so what must my SQL look like with the wildcard characters '%' or '_'?
    normal PS example: conn.prepareStatement("select * from mytable where name like ?");
    If I try: conn.prepareStatement("select * from mytable where name like ?%");
    I get: ORA-00911: invalid character
    If I try: conn.prepareStatement("select * from mytable where name like '?%'");
    I get: ORA-01006: bind variable does not exist
    I must use a PreparedStatement, as my variable may contain illegal characters (like '), and using PreparedStatement.setString(1, var) will automatically escape it for me.
    I could also use a normal Statement, but I need to escape my var ... is there a utility that will safely escape a String for an Oracle VARCHAR2??
    Thanks in advance,
    Stu Miller

    Hmm, it seems you are right...
    when my variable contains a '%' symbol, the PreparedStatement will NOT escape it, and thus it is treated like a wildcard. Therefore, I can just do
    pstmt.setString(1, var+"%");
    But, that may return more results than I'm asking for, as when 'var' contains a '%' symbol it is taken as a wildcard too.
    I need each character in my variable to be taken literally, and only add a wildcard at the end. Basically, I need a STARTSWITH operator ;-)
    It seems to me that escaping the sensitive characters in a String (which will differ depending on which operator is used), should be possible. I could write this, but I was hoping Oracle had already done it for me in some utility class.

  • How to use "scope " attrubute in useBean tag

    Can anyone please tell me if I can use the same JavaBean Class to hold information form different pages? well, let me explain exactely what I want to do:
    I have a Java bean Class that holds a property 'Name':
    package ContactManager;
    public class Person {
    private String name="%";
    public String getName () {
    return this.name;
    public void setName (String my_name) {
    name = my_name + "%" ;
    I'm using this class to store temporarly the Criteria of search from a JSP/HTML page to send to a database for search and for UPDATE -> this of course is done in different HTML/JSP pages. The problem I have is that the first time I set the properties (when the user make a search) this value remains unchanged [-> the second time when the user asks for update, I try to use the same bean to keep the value => unfortuntly it returns me the old value]
    My question is: is the use of 'scope' attribute of the "jsp:useBean" tag can solve this problem? if yes how to use it? I've tryed to set the scope of the bean to page but that does not help :-(

    While a quick search on the <jsp:useBean> tag and the scope attribute will probably yield more information than I can summarize in a few sentences, I'm pretty sure that using the scope="page" attribute on a bean will cause that bean to be instantiated every time the page is loaded. In order for a bean to persist longer than the existance of that page (whether you're loading a new page, or reloading the same one), you'd need to set the scope to session or application (you'd probably want session).

    Also when I tried to update my MYSQL connector / J driver to version 5.1.5 from 5.0.5 (NB 5.5.1) and 5.0.7 (NB 6.1), I could not get it work (looooong time to search some JDBC classes and with no response in the end) on both of my Netbean 5.5.1(on PC) and Netbean 6.1(on laptop) IDEs.
    Could anybody look into this issue.
    Many thanks

    You cannot cast a ResultSet object (or any other object for that matter) to a primitive (such as an int)
    Replace the following line of code:
    int position = (int)SQLResult2 + 1;with this:
    int position = 0;
    if(SQLResult2.next())
      position = SQLResult2.getInt(1) + 1;
    }Additionally I noticed that you have put single quotes around total in the following line:
    String Query2 = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM userteam WHERE total > '"+total+"'";Are you sure that the total column in the userteam table is of string type? If not, you don't need the single quotes.

  • Its urgent  how to use calss file of jar located in lib folder

    how to use calss file of jar located in lib folder.
    i want to use RowSetDynaClass class which is in beanutil jar file which is in my lib folder .if i use that class in my jsp following error is coming.
    Class RowSetDynaClass not found.
    RowSetDynaClass resultSet = new RowSetDynaClass(rs, false);
    how to access class in jar file.
    please help

    You have to either refer to the class in its fully quallified name, or import it into the JSP:
    <%
      some.full.packagename.RowSetDynaClass resultSet = new some.full.packagename.RowSetDynaClass(rs,false);
      ...-or-
    <%@ page import="some.full.packagename.RowSetDynaClass" %>
    <%
      RowSetDynaClass resultSet = new RowSetDynaClass(rs, false);
      ...As long as the class has public visibility and you have re-started the server/servlet context since you added the JAR.

  • How to use setCLOB with JDBC.

    Hi,
    from oracle jdbc document, i know how to use getClob method. but i wonder how to insert a new record included a clob field (setClob). but clob is an interface.
    it seem that it can not be successful to use setclob directly.
    my friend has a way : insert an empty clob into database, then seek this record, and update it with full info again.
    please help me!
    thank in advance.
    wu jianhua.

    A few ways:
    1. Use the LOBs got from a ResultSet, for example,
    Clob x = rs.getClob(1); //you get an oracle.sql.CLOB object
    pstmt.setClob(1, x);
    2. use oracle.sql.CLOB
    public static CLOB empty_lob() throws SQLException;
    creates an empty lob.
    public static BLOB createTemporary(Connection conn, boolean isCached, int
    duration);
    creates temp lob.
    Those methods create object of type oracle.sql.CLOB.
    refer to Oracle jdbc doc for this.

  • How to use PooledConnection

    Hi all
    This problem can look funny to lot of you.
    I have project where i use Java on server side to perform some operation with MySQL. I have created connection to MySQL but there will be lot of users and connecting to database like i have done is not a option.
    public Connection Connecting() {         try {             String username = "username";             String password = "pass";             String url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/database";             Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();             conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);             System.out.println("Connection established on connecting to database");         } catch (Exception e) {             System.out.println("Database Connection Problem while creating connection:" + e);         }         return conn;     }
    Then i was informed that i can use Pooled Connection. From NetBeans tutorial i have learn how to create it.
    [http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/web/mysql-webapp.html|http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/web/mysql-webapp.html]
    There i nice explanation how to create server resource and how to use it directly on web page.
    <sql:query var="subjects" dataSource="jdbc/IFPWAFCAD">     SELECT subject_id, name FROM Subject </sql:query>
    But i need to use it in my Java class. How to use PooledConnection created on server (GlassFish)
    I was checking lot of web pages and all was talking about how to create PooledConnection but nothing with example how to use PooledConnection created on server already.
    If any one can give some code example.
    I have also checked this but i don't get it how to get data?
    [http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/javax/sql/PooledConnection.html|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/javax/sql/PooledConnection.html]

    You use the DataSource to get connections (by calling getConnection()). "jdbc/IFPWAFCAD" is the JNDI name for your resource and you use that to get the actual DataSource object that the container should've loaded for you. So you get the DataSource by it's JNDI name and then get connections from the DataSource. Once you have a Connection, you can do all the stuff you'd normally do with JDBC, using PreparedStatements etc.
    It's is advisable to use a DAO in order to separate your business logic from your data access logic. Check out this tutorial: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2008/07/dao-tutorial-data-layer.html]

  • How to use pool connection run oracle procedure?

    Hi, All:
              I am facing a difficulty I can not find the solution. Maybe you can help
              me.
              I want to call an oracle stored procedure whenever I talk to datebase to
              make the application more efficient. I was able to run the procedure using
              oracle thin driver but not the connection pool using Weblogic jDriver for
              JDBC2.0.
              Please check the following code and see what I did wrong:
              The code in JSP file in Weblogic:
              <%-- JSP page directive --%>
              <%@ page
              import="java.io.*,java.util.*,java.sql.*,weblogic.common.*,weblogic.jdbc20.c
              ommon.*" %>
              <%-- JSP Declaration --%>
              <%!
              protected Connection con = null;
              ResultSet rset = null;
              %>
              <%-- JSP Scriptlet --%>
              <% try {
              Properties props = new Properties();
              props.setProperty("user", "james");
              props.setProperty("password", "aimjames");
              Driver myDriver =
              (Driver) Class.forName
              ("weblogic.jdbc.pool.Driver").newInstance();
              con = myDriver.connect("jdbc:weblogic:pool:hdj2Pool", props);
              String userid = (String)session.getAttribute("user.id");
              int subid =
              Integer.parseInt((String)session.getAttribute("sub.id"));
              String query = "begin pkg_select.sel_req_in_001(" + userid +
              ", " + subid + ", ?); end;";
              weblogic.jdbc.common.OracleCallableStatement cstmt =
              (weblogic.jdbc.common.OracleCallableStatement)con.prepareCall(query);
              cstmt.registerOutParameter(1,java.sql.Types.OTHER);
              cstmt.execute();
              rset = cstmt.getResultSet(1);
              When I run this JSP file, the compilation is fine but the result shows
              nothing. That's means I can not get the ResultSet for some reason.
              The working file when I use oracle thin driver (NOT use a connection pool):
              String userid = (String)session.getAttribute("user.id");
              int subid = Integer.parseInt((String)session.getAttribute("sub.id"));
              String query = "begin pkg_select.sel_req_in_001(" + userid +", " +subid
              +", ?); end ";
              CallableStatement cstmt = con.prepareCall(query);
              cstmt.registerOutParameter(1,OracleTypes.CURSOR);
              cstmt.execute();
              ResultSet rset = (ResultSet)cstmt.getObject(1);
              You may notice that I am trying to bind a parameter to an Oracle cursor. Is
              there anything I did wrong in using weblogic API? I just want to let you
              that in the weblogic JSP file, I also tried to use
              weblogic.jdbc.oci.CallableStatement and
              weblogic.jdbc20.oci.CallableStatement instead of
              weblogic.jdbc.common.OracleCallableStatement, but none of them seems work.
              I did check the bea site at
              http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/classdocs/API_joci.html#1080420 for the
              example to use:
              cstmt.registerOutParameter(1,java.sql.Types.OTHER);
              and I think I followed the exact procedure the example did.
              Please help!

    Thanks for the suggestion about latest version of Weblogic Server.
    "coding best-practices" is not mentioned in the post.
    In order to make servlet application run significantly faster, my servet how to use connection poo is much moreresonable?
    It is reasonable to expect servlet to run significantly faster with connection pooling.
    Is it true that geting and close a connection whenever
    one time database access finished?
    Already answered. Applications use a connection from the pool then return it when finished using the connection.
    Will the solution affect the servlet performance?
    Yes. Already answered. Connection pooling enhances performance by eliminating the costly task of creating database connections for the application.
    Is there any official document to introduce connection pool program?

    liml,
    You code shows table instantiation as:
    // display table with ResultSet contents
    table = new JTable( rows, columnHeads );
    Check that it's in scope, say at class-level, for subsequent manipulations.
