Most definitely not!
Errors must NOT be returned as an output parameter. AN ERROR MUST BE RAISED AS AN EXCEPTION.
This is a fundamental principle in today's programming languages.. from Delphi to Java to C# to whatever.

How to use multiple selection parameters in the data model
Hi, after have looked all the previous threads about how to use multiple selection parameters , I still have a problem;
I'm using Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.3.2 and I'm tried to define more than one multiple selection parameters inside the data template;
Inside a simple SQL queries they work perfectly....but inside the data template I have errors.
My data template is the following (it's very simple...I am just testing how the parameters work):

1) select distinct dname from dept (p_dep_2_param)
2) select distinct loc from dept (p_loc_1_param)
and both of them have checked the "Multiple selection" and "Can select all" boxes
The package I created, in order to use the lexical refence is:

As you see, I tried to have only one p_where_clause (with more than one parameter inside)....but it doesn't work...
Using only the first parameter (based on deptno (which is number), the p_where_clause is: p_where_clause := 'where (deptno in (' || replace (p_dep_2_param, '''') || '))';
it works perfectly....
Now I don't know if the problem is the datatype, but I noticed that with a single parameter (deptno is number), the lexical refence (inside the data template) works.....with a varchar parameter it doesn't work....
So my questions are these:
1) how can I define the p_where_clause (inside the package) with a single varchar parameter (for example, the department location name)
2) how can I define the p_where_clause using more than one parameter (for example, the department location name and the department name) not number.

the missing thing in your example is the fact, that if only one value is selected, the parameter has exact this value like BOSTON. If you choose more than one value, the parameter includes the *'*, so that it looks like *'BOSTON','NEW YORK'*. So you need to check in the package, if there's a *,* in the parameter or not. If yes there's more than one value, if not it's only one value or it's null.
So change your package to (you need to expand your variables)

When I run client main method with parameter "lxh",I will get a error says the getPass() parameter which has given is wrong.
How to use the out parameter in client?Does this error only occurs if you pass "lxh" or always?
Did you try passing a StringHolder Object rather than a NULL Object?

You can save values in the SAP memory using a parameter ID. These
are user and terminal-session specific, but available to all internal and
external sessions.
SET Parameter copies the corresponding field contents into the SAP
System memory in the PAI processing block.
GET Parameter copies the corresponding field contents from the SAP
memory at the end of the PBO processing block, after data has been
transferred from the program, if the screen field still has its initial value
You can link an input/output field to an area of the SAP memory in the
ABAP Dictionary.
When you use an input/output field that is defined in the ABAP
Dictionary, its parameter ID is displayed in the Dictionary attribute
Parameter ID in the Screen Painter.
Usage
SET PARAMETER ID: CAR FIELD space,
CON FIELD space,
DAY FIELD space.

How to use the out parameter of a transformation
Hi All,
I have a requirement where I need to move all the transformations from process flows to map.SO for each transformation I need to have 1 map which calls this transformation.I have 1 transformation which has both input and output parameter.If I use this transformation in mapping then how to use the out parameter of thsi transformation.This out parameter needs to beused in other mappings.Can soemone please help me.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do.
What works: Connect the outgroup of a pre- or post-mapping process operator to the mapping output parameter operator..
What does not work: Connect the outgroup of an operator that can return more than one row (e.g. table operator, filter, joiner ,...) to the mapping output parameter operator. The mapping output parameter just returns "one row", like a pl/sql function call.
You cannot pass a "data stream" from one mapping to another. Maybe the pluggable mappings is what you are looking for.

How to get multiple out parameters from a pl/sql stored procedure in ADF Jdeveloper 11g release2
I´m trying to call from AppModuleImpl a stored procedure from my oracle DB which receives one input parameter and returns 5 out parameters.
I´m using jdeveloper 11g release2 ADF and I have created a java bean "ProRecallPlatesBean " with the atributes and accesors and I serialize it. just like in this article http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/web.1112/e16182/bcadvgen.htm#sm0297

In Jdeveloper I went into AppModule.xml JAVA>Client Interface section and expose "getCallProRecallPlates" Then I can see "getCallProRecallPlates" in Data Controls, I drag and drop it to a JSF page, an input text component and a button are generated in order to put in there the procedure input parameter (numPlates).
I don't know if I'm on the right track.
When I click the button, the "result" variable is supposed to be filled with data from the stored procedure. I want each of those values to be displayed in Output text or input text adf components but I dont know how. Thank you very much in advance I´m a newbie and i'll appreciate your help!What version are you on?

How to use % Symbol for parameters in conditions in Discoverer
Hi All,
Actually I should add four parameters in that
two param's should be given %(means to select all) as default value.
ie as we use LIKE '%' in Query.
the problem is when I enter a value for a parameter, it should result me for that particular value,
and if I need all, I should enter % symbol,
so for this Iam confused How to use this,
even I tried with some options, it is not getting satisfactory results.
will any one please help me in reaching this.

You can create a parameter and give % as the default value. If you set the condition to use LIKE then when the default value is used for the parameter then the query contains LIKE '%' and everything is selected.
If you are using a List of Values with your parameter then you must add the '%' to your list of values so that the user can select this value.
However, this method will not work if some of the values in your database contain percent characters, because the condition LIKE 'ABC%DEF' will return ABCXYZDEF as well as ABC%DEF.
Unfortunately the like escape syntax is not available in Discoverer so you have to invent an value that the user can enter for all, e.g. ALL and set this as the default for the parameter.
Then use a condition similar to:
item LIKE :param OR item = DECODE(:param,'*ALL*', item)

In order to use "MT Generate Synchronization Parameters.vi" you must wire in the following on your block diagram:
The system parameters created in "MT Generate System Parameters.vi" needs to be wired directly to the sync vi.
The synchronization parameters need to be wired direct to "MT Demodulate.vi"
The synchronization bits can be wired into the sync vi direct from "MT Generate Bits.vi"
What I have done is taken your 11.vi that you uploaded in your previous post and altered it to contain the sync vi. I have saved it as a 2010 version.

How to use shell program parameters in java program??

I am writing a java program which must read strings from a file and must assign to variables.these strings are nothing but the output of ls -l command in shell. i need to have all those 9 fields in a file as variables.
I cant find any method that will read only string.I came accross read line but that is not what i need.So, i thought of writing a shell script and by using awk, storing those 9 fields in 9 variables.. but how to use that variables in java programming???
the shell script is executed by exec() but i need that variables also.

How to use Analog out with a 7330/7604 motion setup.

I am using a NI 7330 motion controller and a MID-7604 driver. I would like to use the Analog Output of the MID-7604 driver. Ideally, we would use an actual DAQ, but we don't want to purchase hardware for a one-time use kind of thing.
The driver has Analog outputs, but I can not find any documentation on how to use them. I understand that it may be due to the 7330 controller not supporting the functionality, but, again, I have not found any documentation to support this. Does anyone know how to access and use the Analog outputs? I want to be able to send a variable 0-1 V signal from an Analog output. Any ideas?Well, in fact this is documented:

The analog output terminal block provides access to four digital-to-analog converter channels with ±10V output range and analog output ground.
With this information and the pinout of the 7330 you could tell that there are no AO channels available in this configuration but I agree 100% with you that sometimes it's quite hard to decrypt this type of information from our documentation .We should provide more explicit information about which features are implemented in the controllers and which features are part of the peripherals (MIDs, UMIs).

How to get these items which do not match in 2 tables........?
I have to work with SQVI + EXCEL ( VLOOKUP ) in excel sheet.

After selecting the table join option, In layout mode enter the table names in Joined tables tab. Select the 2 tables using check boxex and select the join type like left inner and click on define condition. This would create a left inner join. Similarly carry out for the next 2 tables.
