How to use the layout manager?

Question

Trying to make a neater Applet, quite new to java, the book i read mention bout u can arrange element according to North East South West and Centre, but didnt give details, can anyone help me and best if can give example, thank you

Here is code for a super basic example of the BorderLayout, in which a JPanel with a different color background is placed in each of the 5 available locations of BorderLayout. The JPanel can be replaced with components, or JPanels that contain several other components or layouts.
