How to Visualize 3D data in Labview.

Hi,
I am using Labview 2010,i have a 3D point cloud that i created in PCL(point cloud library). Now, I want to know if there is a 3D visualizer in Labview that will let me visualize the data if i send it the array/file of 3D points as input.I know that there is Avizo visualizer, but i was hoping for a free software.
PS: I can send data from PCL to labview using dlls,so that is not a problem and the data is stored as .ply file.
Thanks,
Harsha.

  • How to view mdsplus data using labview

I posted this question in the Labview board, but seems nobody replies it so far. I am not sure which board is the best place to post this question. So I just reposted here.  Thanks a lot.
I am a newbie to Labview. I am trying to write some vi to view and write data to Mdsplus.  I have downloaded Mdsplus(labview), and can find the Mdsplus functions, like mdsconnect, mdsput, ect, in the Call Library Function vi. But I have no ideal of how to use it. I tried to use Mdsconnect function to connect to some machine, but it always gives me an error message like, Labview: An exception occurred within the external code called by a call library function node.......  I was searching for help documents on the internet, but couldn't find anything useful. Could you please help me for this problem?  If you have any example of such vi, or teach me how to do it, that would be very helpful. I am using Labview 8 (windows). I would greatly appreciate your help!  Looking forward for your reply.

  • How do I put data into a template using the Labview report generation toolkit for Microsoft Office?

I am running Lookout 5.0 and have recently purchased the Labview Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office to create reports from my Lookout logged data. Since I have never used Labview I am having my problems. I tried following the tutorials but they do not seem to be examples of what I want to do.
I log rainfall totals (1 spreadsheet)in Lookout from 40 different sites in 5 minute increments. I copy these totals and paste them into another spreadsheet which sums them up to give me hourly totals and then paste those totals into a spreadsheet for distribution.
In Labview I create a new report and use the distribution sheet as my template, but how do I complete
the steps of loading the raw 5 minute data into labview and then paste it into the hourly total spreadsheet and then transfer those totals into the distribution template?
I have been trying to figure this out for over a week, and I am getting nowhere.
    Any response would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Lookout saves the files in .csv form which can be opened in Excel. I did make some progress by using the "append table to report" vi which allowed me to put values into an array and then those values were entered into my template on my report vi.
Where I am stuck now is I want to be able to put values into my template from a .csv file, not from an array I have to manually put numbers in.
Once those values are in my template I want to pull summed values from the template and place them into a final excel file for printing.
I have attached examples of the files I am working with to help you better understand what I am trying to do.
    I hope that makes sense.

  • How can I get Data from the Sound cart in Labview? Does a VI exist?

How can I get Data from the Sound cart in Labview? Does a VI exist?

Yes, there are VIs for acquiring data from Sound cards. And examples too. If you don't have LabVIEW yet, do a search on NI's site for example VIs.

  • How do I grab data from a url?query using LabView 8.0?

If I copy the following url in my web browser, it will give me the quote of BBD-A.TO symbol from yahoo. The data is comma separated (csv).
    http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=BBD-A.TO&d=t&f=sl1d1t1c1ohgvj1pp2wern
I would like to know how to grab that information using LabView. I tried using datasocket VIs but I was unsuccessful, it seems that as soon as I put the query part of the url, I am not able to read (timeout occur).
I think there might be another way to do it using .NET "httprequest" and "httpresponse" classes but again I was not successful.
I am really new to this, thanks for your help.

    Hi Ben,
Try adding "[text]" to the end of the URL that you're supplying to the "Datasocket Open (Read)".  In your case: http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=BBD-A.TO&d=t&f=sl1d1t1c1ohgvj1pp2wern[text]
    Also, Jeremy L posted a GetHTMLSourceString.vi.
    Cheers.

  • How to read the data in spectrum analyzer (Anritsu MS2661C) and put it in Excel using Labview

Hi all, I'm new to using the labview, and I have some trouble doing my project using the labview software.
I have been trying to use the spectrum analyzer (Anritsu MS2661C) which connect to computer using the GPIB connection.
I have got the instrument driver which can write and control the instrument using Labview 2010.
and my Question is how do read the data or result from the spectrum analyzer and send it to the microsoft excel?
Do I need to use other software or programming to do this step?
If anyone know how is this done, please let me know.
    Regards,
    Ery

    Hi ery,
In order to send data that you have read in from an instrument to Excel, the most convenient way to do this would be to use our Report Generation Toolkit.  The Report Generation Toolkit is a very useful tool that allows you to interface to Microsoft Office software from LabVIEW, including Word and Excel.  I am not sure if you are familiar with this, but I have attached a link that explains more about the Report Generation Toolkit below.
Another way would be to use the Write To Spreadsheet File VI.  While this will store your data to a spreadsheet data file, it will not allow you to programmatically perform any Excel formatting like the Report Generation Toolkit offers.  I have also attached a link to some information on the Write To Spreadsheet VI below.
Also, be sure to check out the Example Finder in LabVIEW for a number of examples on how to write data to a spreadsheet file.  From LabVIEW, you can go to Help»Find Examples to launch the Example Finder.  From there, you can search for "spreadsheet," which should populate examples for use in different applications.  I hope this helps, ery.  Please let me know if you have any further questions about these!

  • How to sent the data reading in labview to excel datasheet

    Hi,
I have aquire the current input from Cb68LP connector block to the labview.Thank a lot
But I not sure how to sent the data to the excel datasheet(with row and column).
    thank

    Hi.
You can save your data as "Spreadsheet-File". I my case I aquire digital data.
the channels are the rows and the pattern are the columns.
The Spreadsheet-File you can save as .txt then you can open it directly
    in Excel.

  • How to read the date and time information of a file by labview

how to read the date and time information of a file by labview? for example, created time and modified time.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

if you need to know the last modification date of file:-
    "Functions->File I/O->Advanced File Functions->File/Directory Info.vi"
This vi returns the value of file's last modification date. This is returned as U32 number. To see it in MM/DD/YY format you must create the indicator, right-click on it and select "Format & Precision" item from drop-down menu. Then select "Time and Date" format there.
    Thanks as kudos only

  • How to compile COM 1 data with LabVIEW?

I have a device connected to my COM 1 port. How do I input data with that into labVIEW? The program that comes with it is really elementary, it only shows me the data that the comes straight from the device, no analysis.  Its like labVIEW and MAX dont recognize the device, but my device manager says its connected and works fine. How do i input that data and compile it with labVIEW?

    Much better
MAX will not detect instruments connected to a com port. The reason is that there is no standard for serial instruments (unlike GPIB). You should only have your com port listed in MAX. If the instrument is listed in your device manager, then it sounds like the driver you got with the instrument is a little weird. It may be that the driver software has taken control over one of your serial ports. Normally, all you would have to do is use the serial functions on the Instrument I/O palette. However, if the instrument driver has taken control of the com port, you won't be able to do this because the OS will only allow one process access to the port at any one time. You can test this by trying to open a Hyperterminal session to the com port. If you can an error indicating that the port is in use, then that's the driver running in the background. You can uninstall the driver and everything should be okay. You could also try to use the driver as provided. I'm assuming it's a DLL. You could call the functions in the DLL with the LabVIEW Call Library Node function. You will need documentation from the vendor on the DLL in order for this to be done. It's probably simpler, though, just to use the LabVIEW serial functions. You would still need the command set/syntac from the instrument manufacturer in order to communicate with it.

How to have a web-based interface for Lumira that also performs Ad-Hoc visualizations on data that should be loaded live from HANA. I have another tool that puts data into HANA, So don't want to reload this new data into Lumira every time I want to run a report.
so do i  have the ability to create polished ad hoc dashboards, reports, infographics and storyboards Apart from Ad-Hoc reports, I also need a dashboard with some fixed reports that update with the live data.
So please suggest me to accomplish this task.

  • How to write the data into EEPROM using Labview?

How to write the data into EEPROM using Labview?

You would need some sort of EEPROM programmer. Typically might
communicate with it via serial. I don't know how you would do this in
LV. You would need to have the command protocol for the programming
    device to start with.

  • I need the detail about how to read the data from spreadsheet file. but the file should not created by labview.

i face some difficulties here. the datas are encrypted...... how to get correct data ..........

Excel files are in a propriertary microsoft format. A LabVIEW "spreadsheet" file is a file containing an ASCII table with tabs separating columns and linefeeds separating rows. They are not ther same!
If you use "write to spreadsheet file" and name the file *.xls, this does NOT make it an excel file, it just tells the operating system to open it with excel if you double-click it. Excel is smart enough to notice that it is not really an excel file and does its best to convert it transparently. The same does not work in reverse.
    You have several options:
You can use excel to export your data to something LabVIEW can read. Try e.g. tab delimited text.
You can use e.g. activeX to read an excel file, see: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/3409
Search for excel in your example finder for more possibilites.

  • How can I read the trace data into LabVIEW for E5071B

    HI
I am setting up the measurement using vector network analyzer (VNA) E5071B controlled by NI 488.2. How can I read the trace data into LabVIEW and display on the graph? If anyone having an idea or know well about this process please give me the suggestion, I will much appreciate it.
    Many Thanks

You want to start with the driver
In case you do not know it, you can do the driver search in LabVIEW from Tools>Instrumentation>Find Instrument Drivers. You might also want to bookmark the Instrument Driver Network for information on what a driver is and how to use it.

I just want to set something on the front panel that will execute the Serial parameters first and then pass these settings to vector signal analyzer
    Thanks
    Phong

    You transfer data with wires.
Frankly, I'm a little confused by your question. I can't think of any reason why you would want to pass serial parameters (i.e. baud rate, parity) to a GPIB instrument. Please explain with further detail and attach the code.
