Howto: display dynamic form on tree selection (jdev 11gR1)

Heya,
another question by myself, hoping for an advice.
I finally made a tree including different types of "objects" into one tree (based on ADF BC). Simple example use case used in this post: displaying employee hierarchy PLUS assigned projects per employee.
So my current problem is: what is the "way to go" to change the form in the "content" facet (made a simple splitter layout with tree in left facet and "content" in right facet) AND binding the data to it? Clicking on an employee would open the employee form and load data for selected employee into it, but clicking on a project would open the project form and loading data for selected project into it. I have all data available in the tree application module and the decision "what to display" is based on one of the attributes.
All tutorials I found so far for master/detail are kinda "static" (linking employee tree to employee form) and I can't figure out how to do want I want to do.
Is this possible going the declarative way? If yes, how? Or do I have to code something? If yes, how? No need for actual code, just need a hint what to look for.. feeling lost atm.
Any help is highly appreciated. :)

Hi,
here's how you do it
1. Create a iterator binding for the project ViewObject (choose a ViewObject instance that is not dependent to the employees ViewObject you use as the tree top level)
2. In the binding editor, expand the Data Source entry (below the rule attribute configuration) and create an EL expression that references the iterator bindingyou created
This ensures that selecting an emplloyee is synchronized with the Employee iterator used to build the top level nodes and the selected project is synchronized with the project iterator node.
3. Add a switcher component to switch between the employee and the project edit form
4. Create a facet in the af:switcher that has the name of the full employee view object e.g. adf.mysample.EmployeesView
5. Create a facet in the af:switcher for the full name of the Project VO
6. Drag and drop the EmployeeView entry from the data Controls palette as a form into the Employees facet
7. Do the same for the Projects (make sure you use the Projects VO that is not depedent)
Set the default value of the switcher too point to the facet that should be shown by default. The value of the switcher set to an EL that points to a managed bean method or memory attribute. Upon selecting a node (you can use the tree node selection listener) you access the selected tree node. The selection listener code woud look as shown below
  //tree reference can be obtained from the selectionListener event (Source) or from a JSF component binding property reference
  //example uses the latter
  RichTree tree = this.getTree1();
  //get selected row keys. This could be a single entry or
  //multiple entries dependent on whether the tree is
  //configured for multi row selection or single row selection
  RowKeySet rks = tree.getSelectedRowKeys();
  Iterator rksIterator = rks.iterator();
  //assuming single select use case. Otherwise, this is where you
  //need to add iteration over the entries in the multi select use case
  if (rksIterator.hasNext()){
    //a key is a list object that containe the node path information for the
    //selected node
    List key = (List)rksIterator.next();
    //determine the selected node. Note that the tree binding is an instance of
    //JUCtrlHierBinding
    JUCtrlHierBinding treeBinding = null;
    //We can get the binding information without using EL in our Java, which you always should
    //try to do. Using EL in Java is good to use, but only second best as a solution
    treeBinding = (JUCtrlHierBinding) ((CollectionModel)tree.getValue()).getWrappedData();
    //the row data is represented by the JUCtrlHierNodeBinding class at runtime. We get the node value
    //from the tree binding at runtime
    JUCtrlHierNodeBinding nodeBinding = treeBinding.findNodeByKeyPath(key);
        //the JUCtrlHierNodeBinding object allows you to access the row data, so if all you want is to
    //get the selected row data, then you are done already. However, in many cases you need to further
    //distinguish the node, which is what we can do using the HierTypeBinding
    String nodeStuctureDefname = nodeBinding.getHierTypeBinding().getStructureDefName();
   //determine the selected node by the ViewObject name and package
   String employeesDef = "adf.mysample.EmployeesView";
   String projectDef = "adf.mysample.ProjectsView";
  if (nodeStuctureDefname.equalsIgnoreCase(empoyeesDef)){
     // change value reference used in af:switcher and partially refresh the af:switcher component to show the edit form
     // e.g. change the value of the refrenced memory attribute or managed bean variable
   else if (nodeStuctureDefname.equalsIgnoreCase(projectDefDef)){
     // change value reference used in af:switcher and partially refresh the af:switcher component to show the edit form
     // e.g. change the value of the refrenced memory attribute or managed bean variable
   else{
    //what the heck did the user click on? Ask him ;-)

    Hi all,
    I did one gate pass form and i want to view the form in my selection screen or output screen(just in monitor) as  a display by giving one Z-code.
    i.e, we can view the form thru Print preview...the same preview, i want to display after i give my parameter in the selection screen.
    For example.ZGPOUT if i enter as a t-code.
    it should ask my Gate Pass number in the Selection screen...if its right then my Form will come out to the display screen. (instead of going by Print method).,
    Pls post ur comment and reply me with examples,if possible.

  • Displaying dynamic form for multiple players

    I am trying to dynamically display a form based on the number
    the user chooses. For instance, the user is register his/her child
    for soccer. I have a form that asks all the parent/guardian
    information and the player info. If the parent/guardian chooses to
    register 2 or more, I need to duplicate the player form. I can use
    a span tag and innerhtml, but that seems very tedious in
    javascript. Is there a better way to dynamically create the form
    for player 2, player 3, ...? I would like to do it all on the same
    page without the user gong to the next page. Your help is
    appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    In regards to tedious client side JavaScript, there are
    bunches of canned scripts available that you can modify.
    Here's one example;
    http://javascript.internet.com/forms/dynamic-input.html
    One of my favorites is deepgrid
    http://www.geocities.com/deepgrid/.
    I wrote a custom tag wrapper for the deepgrid code awhile
    back
    http://www.intersuite.com/client/index.cfm/2005/8/30/ColdFusion-custom-tags-for-Javascript -based-DeepGrid-UI
    http://www.intersuite.com/client/index.cfm/2005/9/28/cfdeepGrid-Custom-tag-for-deepGridjs
    Another solution would be to go the AJAX route where the user
    stays on the same page, they click submit, AJAX goes out and
    submits the info and refreshes the registered list below the form.
    One of the easiest API's is JSMX (

  • Display infopath form in listview, select item to populate the form

    Hi-
    I once used a list where if you selected the list item by clicking a <-> button,it then populated the infopath form on that page. I have a page with two webpart zones, one for the list and one for the related infopath form. How can i connect the webparts,
    so when i select a single list entry the infopath form populates?
    I cant remember the tutorial i once found, loved this feature.
    thanks

    Hi,
    That icon comes up when you connect the InfoPath form web part with the list web part. The view that is displayed on the Infopath web part will populate with the list item selected in the list view. When creating the connection, choose the option to Get
    form data from and it will automatically select the Infopath on the page. This is a similar post but done in O365.

  • Specific script not workig in dynamic forms

    Dear all,
    I have three check boxes.Third one is N/A.So when user select third one the value of first two check boxes should be null and acess should be read only.
    So i have added the following script to click and change events of the third check box.
    if(this.rawValue == 1 )
    first.rawValue = 0 ;
    second.rawValue = 0 ;
    first.access = "readOnly" ;
    second.access = "readOnly" ;
    else
    first.access = "open" ;
    second.access = "open" ;
    This is working fine if the form is save as static pdf but i need it in dynamic form.
    In dynamic form if i select first two check boxes then i select third one it's only making the first two check boxes read only.But the values are not refreshed i.e. value should be 0.it should be deselected.
    Can any one please help me to solve this problem.
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Regards
    Rakesh

    Rakesh,
    I have tested this in both Designer 7.0 and Designer 7.1, saved both times as a dynamic form and it works for me with the following javascript code on the change event in the 3rd CheckBox:
    if(CheckBox3.rawValue == 1 )
    CheckBox1.rawValue = 0 ;
    CheckBox2.rawValue = 0 ;
    CheckBox1.access = "readOnly" ;
    CheckBox2.access = "readOnly" ;
    else
    CheckBox1.access = "open" ;
    CheckBox2.access = "open" ;
    If you still don't get it to work I can send you the file that I have working.

  • How I can create dynamically-formed requests or use native SQL in EJB?

    Hi all.
    I'm working around modify an example from NetWeaver Developer Studio (CarRental). I want to get ordered data from table and allow users to specify the ordering field, not in the code. EJB QL doesn't support dynamically-formed queries like "select object(b) from QuickBooking b where b.status like ?1 order by b.<b>?2</b>" so i can't passing field name as parameter into query. Creating a sorting method for every field is not good solution because I need a dynamically-formed requests.
    I think using native SQL will help but I don't know how I can use SQL in EJB.
    Thanks,
    Lev

    import javax.persistence.EntityManager;within class, place
    protected EntityManager  entityManager;of course make it public, private, whatever you need.
    Then, in your method
    entityManager.createNativeQuery(....);R. Grimes

  • Create a dynamic form where selected text boxes appears, based on options chosen in a drop-down box

    HELP!!! Can anyone please provide some guidance on how to create a dynamic form where selected text boxes appears, based on options chosen in a drop-down box.
    I have a form which – based on the department that's selected from a drop-down box – will have different form fields/text boxes, etc, made available.
    Is this possible in LiveCycle, if so, can you please provide the script/info - as needed.
    Thanks,

    In the preOpen event of the second dropdown list you put something like (in formCalc):
    if (dropdown1 == 1) then
    $.clearItems()
    $.setItems("Year, 2 Year,  3 Year")
    elseif (dropdown1 == 2) then
    $.clearItems()
    $.setItems("3 Year,  4 Year")
    endif

  • Re-display repeating XML data in dynamic form

    I have a dynamic form with repeating data in my XML that populates it. I need to display the repeating data in one of 2 different ways, depending on which business segment the user viewing it is associated with. I have tried 2 ways to accomplish this, neither has worked for me.
    Attempt 1: Create 2 separate subforms and hide the one that should not be shown. The first subform in the layout displays just fine and is populated with records, but the second subform never displays any records. This appears to be an issue with the XML node already having been parsed and displayed and does not get displayed again. Is there a way to move the cursor, or pointer, or whatever you call it in XML-speak back to the top of a repeating node to re-display data?
    Attempt 2: Create a single subform that contains 2 other subforms - one for each view, which lay atop each other. A script command hides the view the shouldn't be displayed. The problem I ran into here is that the records don't display properly. In my example, there are 3 records in the repeating section, the first displays fine, the second is missing some fields and is pulling some data from the first record. The third record displays no data at all. I deleted the one of the 2 subforms and previewed the form again, now all of the records displayed just as they should.
    Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chad

    That code also produces text in the textfield.  What "specific parts" are you trying to display?
    textfield.text = (xml.bar[0].text());
    textfield.text = (xml.bar[1].text());

  • Dynamically display title based on value selected in column selector

    Hi All,
    Can it be possible to show the report title dynamically based on value selected in column selector . suppose i have two column status and region . When i will select status in the column selector the title of the report will show " Status Summary" when i will select region then the title will change to "Region Summary". Please help me...

    Hi,
    create dashboard prompt with column selector functionality like following way
    write the following query in your dashboard prompt sql results
    select region name from subject area name
    Union all
    select sub_region name from subject area name
    like this and put one presentation variable for this dashboard prompt like var1
    in your report write formula in your column like this *case when @{var1)='region column' then 'Region Summary' else ' ' end*
    and refer this column in narrative view like @1 then narrative act like a title view.
    Hope this helps you

  • How to create a dynamic form with bind variables :schema & :table_name

    My application has two LOV's, one to select a schema, and the next to select a table within that schema. I then have a button which passes me to a report which displays the data in that table.schema.
    I now want to create a link to a form where I can edit the record based on the rowid of that table.schema, but it doesn't appear that I can create a dynamic form where I pass the schema.table_name and rowid. Is this possible? Can anyone advise how I can do this? The form builder only wants a fixed schema/table name.
    Thanks in advance.
    Stuart.

    Hi Stuart,
    In this sort of situation, you will need to be a bit creative.
    I would suggest a pipeline function called as if it was a report.
    Then you can pipe out the required fields.
    Since you will have a variable number of fields, you could use two of the multi row field names for your field names and values.
    Then after submit, you can create your own procedure to loop through the fields (stored for you in the Apex package) and update the table as required.
    Not very specific I'm afraid, but it should work.

  • How to not display nodes in a tree if Oracle roles are NOT used?

    How to not display nodes in a tree if Oracle roles are NOT used?
    We don't use Oracle DB roles to grant users access to Forms from the menu. We use a template and role system of our own. Basically a few tables with templates and roles.
    We want to convert our normal Forms menu to a tree menu and one of our key requirements is that when the tree is populated ONLY nodes with programs (i.e. forms) he has been granted to execute is shown.
    Since we don't use Oracle Roles how to do this in a tree?
    I created a function to show/hide LEAF nodes, BUT problem is that there are sub-menu nodes showing even if the leaf-nodes under it has not being displayed. My function has suppressed it.
    My tree query is like this:
    SELECT
         t.status, LEVEL, t.label, t.icon, t.node VALUE
    FROM
         tma_tree_menu t
    WHERE
    tma_authenticate_sys_chk_role(USER, t.node) = 1
    CONNECT BY
         PRIOR t.node = t.master
    START WITH
         t.MASTER IS NULL
    ORDER SIBLINGS BY
    t.position
    The tma_authenticate_sys_chk_role will return 1 only if the user has access to the form under that node.
    I tried the FTree functions in Forms but even that has nothing.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Would you share the source code? I guess what I need is how exactly you retreive the user credentials from the DB table and set that boolean variable.
    and then how to condition it in UIX?

  • Dynamic forms in struts

    Hi,
    I have a pretty difficult problem that I don't know how to solve using struts. I need to generate dynamic surveys from a database. The structure of the survey can be different for every different user. I really want to use the struts Form classes but I'm not sure how to do this. The only way I can think of is messy...
    For every new type of survey generated from the database...
    1. Generate a new class definition for the struts Form object and compile that.
    2. Every struts Action class that interacts with the new dynamic Form classes will need to use reflection on the dynamic Form object to be able to pull all of the data from that form.
    I'm sure there are many web sites where forms are dynamically generated and I would think this problem has already been solved. Does anyone out there have any ideas?

    Try to follow this way:
    1 provide actions chain in your configuration file like this:
             <form-bean
                  name="addFlatForm"
                  type="app.owner.forms.AddFlatForm">
                </form-bean>
            <action
                 path="/InitAddFlatForm"
                 type="app.owner.actions.InitAddFlatFormAction"
                 attribute="addFlatForm"
                 validate="false"
                 parameter="owner.extendedplace;place;/pages/AddFlat.jsp">
            </action>
            <!-- "/pages/AddFlat.jsp" - jsp page with html:form on it-->
            <action
                 path="/AddFlatForm"
                 type="app.owner.actions.AddFlatAction"
                 name="addFlatForm"
                 validate="true"
                 input="/pages/AddFlat.jsp">
                 <forward
                      name="success"
                      path="/shortinfo/Welcome.do"></forward>
            </action>2 first action(InitAddFlatFormAction) will be "prepare" action, where you must create new instance of the ActionForm descendant with Map, List, array etc definition. where your dynamic fields will be located , and fill the keys value from your database.
    public class InitAddFlatFormAction extends Action{
         public ActionForward execute(ActionMapping mapping, ActionForm form,
                HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response){
              //obtain parameters
              String[] params = ActionHelper.parseParameter(mapping, 3, Constants.PARAMETER_SEPARATOR);
              //get extended place from session attribute
              ExtendedPlace currPlace = (ExtendedPlace)ServletUtils.getAttribute(
                        request, params[0], ServletUtils.SESSION_SCOPE);

  • Dynamic forms and Web Services?

    So what we are trying to do is get a dynamic form's information into a database.  On the form itself we have several fields wrapped in a subform that is set to repeat.  It is bound to an element from a web service, which allows the form to grow based on the number of rows returned.  We needed to do this because depending on the selection of departments, there could be a different number of rows returned each time.  This works out fine.  The form grows to display different options, based on the selection.
    What we're having problems with is writing the changes made back to the database.  We have a web service that is bound to the subform that contains the fields, and also bound to the fields themselves, but we're only able to write the information from the last node, i.e if there were six options that were displayed, and you made changes to all six, only the changes to the last one would be written to the database.  Is there something special that needs to be done on the form side?
    Any help is much appreciated.

    Yes ...you set up the web service to recieve one parameter .....then you create a multiline field (make it invisible so the user cannot see it). Then use this command to populate the field with the form data:
    fieldname.rawValue = xfa.datasets.data.saveXML("pretty");
    Now bind this field to the web service input and call it.
