Howto setup CIFS - windows2008 to connect to netware 6.5sp8

Hi, how do i setup cifs to connect or allow users in AD to map to a folder on our netware 6.5 server.
We are about to migrate from Netware 6.5 to windows 2008.
i do not know how to allow users who are migrated over to AD but also need to access shared folders which are also used by the netware users.

Dennis

The Finder shouldn't show an empty optical drive. If the disk gets automatically ejected, there may be problems with the drive, or you may be inserting a blank CD or DVD into a drive incapable of burning it.

    Hello,
If the instance is a named instance, then SQL Server Browser service should be started to be able to connect to the instance

  • Can I create a custom setup test for Adobe Connect Pro?

I was wondering if there was a way to create a custom setup test for Adobe Connect Pro?  We are using Adobe Connect to teach some web courses and we need them to complete the Adobe Connect test as well as some other software setup tests.  Due to the fact that we are using a company wide account for Adobe Connect the "Send Results" button on the setup test doesn't reach me (I am the one in charge of making sure all students have taken all the setup tests).  Typically we have them take a test and then return back to the main 'test' page where they select whether or not the test worked.
In the end I figure I have two options:
    1. Change the test so that it emails the responses to the email of my choice, i.e. a custom version of the setup test. (Not sure if this is possible as we use a company account)
    2. Completely remove the "Send Results" button from setup test and just rely on the student manually entering whether the test worked or not.
    Please help!

The timecode effect can only show whole frames so there is not a setting for 23.97. I'm not at my editor at the moment, is there an option for 'drop frame' in the timecode settings, this is how timecode is displayed for non whole number frame rates.

  • Howto setup an imap connection with ssl for incoming, but nonssl for outgo

I am just stucked in a "simple" problem. Our mail-server is doing imap with a special configuration:
    - incomming is running imap/ssl on port 443
    - outgoing is running non-ssl (plain) on port 25
The problem is that I can not set the "use ssl" and "port" configuration for incoming or outgoing separately. Or I assume I just can not find the way to setup this in the right way.
    Any hints on this?
    Carsten

Hi. To set up you ssl incoming connection, open Preferences>Accounts. Click the Advanced tab, and near the bottom, you will see a place to enter the port number and check ssl enabled. For the outgoing connection, in the preference box, click Account Information. At the bottom you should see outgoing server information. Click on this and scroll to Edit Server List. Select the appropriate server (if you have more than one) and Click the Advanced tab. You should see a radio button that selects Standard ports (25 is among them).
My account is set up exactly the same way without any problems.

  • Lexmark Marknet unable to connect to Netware 5.1 server with IPX

    Hi,
Im having some problems with Lexmark Marknet print servers. We are using
Netware 5.1 servers with ipx print queues. The print servers are MarkNet
X2000 series and MarkNet Pro3 Series from Lexmark. The print servers are
being serviced by a Netware 5.1 server. (server a) I use the MarkVision
Printer Utility to setup the printer server.
We are having a migration project from Windows NT workstations to Windows
XP workstations. We have made new print queues for the XP environment. We
also want to use an other server (server b) for servicing the print
servers. I have made al the new queues on the volume on the new server
(server b). When I use the markvision to add the new server (server b) to
the existing print server it doesnt connect. Could there be a problem in
    de IPX environment ?

Any reason why you dont want to use NDPS with IP? Most print servers like
lexmark will work with IP/LPR printing all you need to do is find out
what the name is for the port. Some use raw others use printer etc..
The print queues can easily be attached to the ndps printers within the
NWADMIN (workstation client MUST have ndps installed prior to assigning
    queue).

  • Cifs - need to connect to share server (can see folders but can't see files)

    This is driving me nuts...
    CASE ONE:
before the upgrade, i could view folders and files on the shareserver (at a company). but after the upgrade, things went downhill...
we can no longer use "smb://ServerName" so we are forced to use "cifs://ServerName". Fine, fine. but i can only see folders...not files.
ive looked everywhere on the internets for a solution but find nerdy, tech lingo. I found only one that had the solution, but they simply said "nevermind, i found the solution...".. jesh,,, at least leave a solution for us....
does someone have a work-around or a solution to this bug?
    CASE TWO:
Dealing with Outlook 2011 and sharing caledars using the Exchange, i can see my co-workers email and statuses...but i can no longer see their schedules/availability.
does anyone have a solution to this???
Rule #1: do not say "its an Outlook issue" cause they already told me to ask you.
Rule #2: do not say "you are posting in the wrong place". just help, for Pete's sake...
Rule#3: do not say "$**%()*$ and preliminary connection hub 5583HHFer, BS...." we dont need nerdy lingo...we need help...
others including myself would very much appreciate your help in the above 2 matters.

  • Setup two 1140 w/ connection issues

    Hi,
I've got two Cisco Aironet 1140 Access Points in my office. They're both setup as AP at opposite ends of the office with the same SSID, so employees can walk throughout the office without losing connectivity.
We recently re-started one of the AP's, but ever since the re-start, users cannot roam from one AP to another without dropping their internet connection to the outside world. In other words, if I originally connect on Side A and walk over to Side B, I lose my internet connection. Users can still access the internal network, and I can launch the web interface for both AP's. But, it seems like the DNS doesn't recover until I go back to Side A.
Any idea on what we could do to remedy this issue? Thanks for your help!

I would not even suggest moving down the road of WDS for a 2 AP PSK configuration for sake of overcomplicating what seems to be a basic problem.  The clients should be able to roam fast enough with the PSK to where the end-user would not even notice.  There is a larger problem here.
Can you post the run-config from each of your APs?  Are these APs on the same subnet?
You say you can reach your "internal" network resources when you have roamed, but not the "internet".  If you can still reach your default g/w and internal resources; your wireless is working just fine.  Access to the "internet" is in no way an indication that this roam is not working.  If you roam and your client can no longer reach it's default gateway, "then" you might actually be having an issue.  Are you "sure" DNS is the problem you are facing?  Can you move to AP B, which doens't seem to have internet, and ping a public IP address like 4.2.2.2?
There are other debugs we can run to see what is happening, but I would start by posting both run-configs.  Specify "which" AP appears to be causing the problem.

  • How 2 Setup a simple ethernet connection from PC to MAC? HELP, gon 2 heck!

just spent the LAST hour tryin to set it up and then two hours researchin WHY its not working..
I've done the search in Finder's Help Menu and apple doc web pages...apparently macbook's don't need a crossover cable and I have done this in the past...
there are no users setup on my macbook, just me the "admin"...
    Window's sharing is turned on...
I have typed in the address under services list and typed that in a window in XP and it errors out.. WINDOWS cannot find \\192.169.11.18\admin, check the spelling and try again..
on the Mac Side when i go to sys preferences and then NETWORK, I click on Built-in Ethernet, it shows green and it says, Built-in Ethernet is currently active and has the IP addres 191.168.0.44, which doesn't match whats up above, should it?
ON the PC side, I go to View Network Connections and it does show a local area connection, status is lmited, and duration shows a timer countdown and speed shows 1.0Gbps... Activity shows Packets sent as 79 and recieved as 0 <-- this to me indicates they are connected right? theres something going on there isn't there?
I simply want to be able to access my macbook from the pc and vice versa..
Can anyone help or point me in the right direction pLEASE?
    thanks in advance!!
    oNe
p.s. I came across this post in my research.. it seems helpful but I need some clarification..
    1. how do I change the IP addresses of both the PC and the Mac to match?
    2. On the Mac side, HOW do i found out my nameofcomputer and the yourhomedirectoryname he refers to?
    3. HOW do i get this to work? it shouldn't be this difficult correct?
    here is the post
Make sure you have Windows file sharing turned on the Mac side. (Sys Prefs/Sharing). On the PC side you need to share a folder of some kind. I usually share the My Documents folder, and it should give an option to share as a different name. So I share it as mydocuments, or my_documents. If your concerned about security share it as my_documents$. People trying to get in won't think of the $ part so it will make it harder for them to get in.
Make sure both computers get an IP address, and also make sure their on the same subnet. If you have to, *give them both a manual IP address like 192.168.2.1 on the mac and 192.168.2.2 on the PC.*
I'm sure you probably don't care which side connects so you can either right click on My Computer and Map Network Drive then put *\\nameofcomputer\yourhomedirectorynameonmac (ie. \\ibook\michael\)* It will ask for a password, make sure you use the username/password on the Mac and not the PC. You may have to correct the username. UNIX is case sensitive so make sure the password is exact.
If you want to connect using the Mac, go to the "Go" menu in Finder and then down to "Connect to Server". Then put the following, smb://IPaddress/sharedfolder. (ie. smb://192.168.2.2/my_documents) It should ask for a username/password, make sure here that you use the PC username and password. Again, you may have to correct the username.

    awesome link and page.. thanks..
but no dice... after using google, finally figured out how to ping each device..it failed on both ends..
so I can't ping the mac from the pc.. and I can't ping the PC from the mac..
again all I'm doing is putting in a cat 5 cable into the ethernet port on the macbook pro running 10.4 and the other end into the ethernet port on a PC running XP SP3
I have done this before with these same cables that i'm using now, though it was the same mac but a different PC..
    any ideas?

    Hi,
The gateway file initMYSQL_LOCAL.ora should be placed in the directory -
    $ORACLE_HOME\hs\admin
which is the expected location. In your setup this should be -
    C:\app\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\hs\admin
If the file is already in that location then make sure that in the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora that in each section every line except the first line starts with at least one space -
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    <space>(SID_LIST =
    <space>(SID_DESC =
    LISTENER =
    <space>(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    Tnsnames.ora
    MYSQL_LOCAL =
    <space>(DESCRIPTION =
    <space>(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
However, there is also a problem with the tnsnames.ora file. You have -
    Tnsnames.ora
    MYSQL_LOCAL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = MYSQL_LOCAL)
    (HS = OK)
    ) <=== move this bracket
    but it should be -
    Tnsnames.ora
    MYSQL_LOCAL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = MYSQL_LOCAL)
    ) <=== bracket moved here
    (HS = OK)
Of course, with spaces as shown above. They are often lost in the forums.
You may also need to change -
    (HOST = localhost)
    to -
    (HOST = <actual host name>)
but it depends on your setup.
Try these changes and let me know what happens.

While setting up my email account on 5800xm through Messaging>Options>Settings>Email, the email setup wizard automatically opens. After defining the email address and password, the wizard automatically attempt to connect through 3g data connection to retrieve the email settings. Why is there no options to choose which connection to retrieve the email account settings?

It seems to have worked on my 5800 Xpress.  To decode the advice, two icons regarding the email setup were on my screen, one for email and one for email set up.  The email set up was in pink.  I pressed the white button to get the Organise, went in , selected the pink email set up icon and Removed it.  Now both icons are gone.  We will see tomorrow morning if I get the annoying message again asking me to go on the network.  Think it is sorted. I suspect that accidentaly starting the proceedure keeps it hanging around in the background.

  • Setup Email Using WLAN Connection - E72

    Hi.
Did anyone manage to setup a Gmail or Windows Live Email using WLAN connection?
1 - My internet connection has only the WLan connection. I removed my carrier internet connection.
2 - Using the E-mail option at the menu, I type my gmail user, my password, and then nothing happens.
3 - I tried doing this procedure without the SIM, using Offline mode. And again, nothing happens...
Does Nokia want me to use my Carrier Connection just setup an email account using their interface and software?

Yes for initial setup must use GPRS/3G from your provider. After the inital setup, it may or may not work with WiFi depending on your location.
