HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Battery Adapter Message
I have an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook (product # A5F76AV) and recently every time I plug it in with the adapter that was provided with it, a message in a box appears on the bottom right hand corner of my screen saying that I need a higher power adapter, and this causes me to randomly drop in FPS when I play a video game. How do I solve this? Thanks.

Hey iilykerice,
I see that you're still having an issue with the error message prompting you to get a higher power adapter.
Here is a couple of workarounds -
NON-OPTIMAL WORKAROUND I discovered that if you simply remove the battery while using the computer in AC mode. The messages stop. Apparently they appear whenever the computer switches between AC and battery power. It works vice-versa as well, when running on battery power only.
ANOTHER WORKAROUND As I was going through all of this, I discovered that changing the power configuration from "Power Saver" to "HP Recommended (Recommended)" the messages stopped. I did this however while the battery was removed, and it is possible that the battery should be out when you do this.
ALSO, The OEM adapter by the way is 65 watts -- people on other forums suggested that anything under 60 watts should be replaced no matter what. We had it plugged into a very old surge protector, which conceivably could have been robbing power. So we now have it directly in the wall. (Did this after stopping messages with the different power config, so I don't know if it would have worked -- but try it anyway).
Here is the document i got this from for you too take a look at- http://goo.gl/ynP1V
Also, If you're still in warranty please contact HP at 18004746836
It very well could be the ac adapter.

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Battery Problem
I have an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Windows Vista 64-bit, I bought it less than 2 months ago. Yesterday I fogot my charging cable so I ran my battery all the way out. Then this morning after charging I turned on my laptop and it gave me a message about the internal battery being weak. I tested it with the HP Support Assistant and got this message:
"The battery is functioning correclty, but due to normal aging of the battery, the battery life between charges has reached a point where your battery is no longer useful. The battery may be covered by your HP Warrant. Please contact HP."
What happened to my battery and is there a way to fix it without getting a new one (highly unlikely but I have to ask..)? I'm hoping this problem is under warrenty because I've only had my laptop for less than two months and the battery is already aged?
Thanks for your help!Hi, try to download the latest HPSA and test the battery again, if it still shows the same problem, contact local support center to get the battery replaced.

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC: restore system and drivers
Hi. Some days ago I faced a bad experience with my laptop HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. System crashed. At anytime I tried to switch it on, a message error appeared and system was blocked. Message was: FILE:\BOOT\BCD Status 0xc000000f, asking for running the Windows 7 System disk. But System disk didn't run at all. I checked situation and found the hard disk with 6 partitions instead of 2. I found a partition named BOOT (X that was a replica of C:. When I tried to restore the system by the recovery disk, something got control of the recovery disk, so that C: could not be formatted; neither X: was. Also, I tried to cancel files in X: but disk was protected and didn't allow any changes. So I could only get my hard disk uninstalled and all the partitions were cleaned off. I got my hard disk perfectly cleaned, but my recovery disk could not be installed properly. Therefore, system was not restored yet. My question is: what should I do to get my laptop with restored system? any ideas?

Depending on the age on your computer, it may have come from the factory with 5 or more partitons. This is common on newer computers that utilize UEFI and GPT partitions. The "Windows 7 System disk", the computer wass asking for is either a Windows 7 installation disc or a Windows 7 Repair Disc. Neither of these discs come with your HP computer and must be downloaded and/or created in Windows.
Start by using your HP Recovery Disc set (should be 3 or more DVDs). Insert disc #1 and reboot your computer to start the process. Insert the remaining discs as requested, until the recovery is finished.
If this doesn't work and you can read the 25-digit Microsoft Windows 7 product key on th Microsoft COA affixed to your computer, please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download Windows 7 SP1, create the Windows installation DVD, and install Windows 7. If you prefer to install Windows 7 from a USB Flash Drive, please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash Drive. Please Help.. HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook has totally stopped working
Hi
If anyone can help me I would be grateful. My computer just stopped working today and left me with a blank screen, when I try to turn on I just get the HP logo. I have run a hard disk and memory test and they both came back OK.
I have my life on here and when I took it to the Geek Squad they said it was probably the hard drive and wanted tons of money to TRY and fix it.
I have a blank black/blue page, I have removed the battery and tried a hard start, I replaced the battery, I do have a flashing caps lock light and my mouse pad is illuminated.
I don't know what to do next and have my life on this computer including many family photos that cannot be replaced.
Any help or ideas would be gratefully received

How do i clean the air vents on my hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc?
Latelly, the fan on my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC has been noiser than usual and it appears that my notebook becomes quite warm to the touch. The HP Support Assistant running on my notebook PC recommended that I can reduce the heat and fan noise by cleaning the air vents. How do I do this? Can I do this myself or do I have to have a professional do it?
Hi Rosie,
You can clean the vents on your notebook.
Buy a can of compressed air. Essentially, you need to gently blow out the vents with the compressed air to clear out the dirt and dust. You need a can with a small straw like attachment for the nozzle so you can point it directly toward the vents.
Do take a look at this document first so you know which way to point the air and how to avoid damaging the fan inside the notebook.

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC unable to boot recovery disk
HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC unable to boot recovery disk. First when I power on my notebook it goes straight to the launch recovery or launch Windows normally screen. When I choose start windows normally, it goes to the window screen and freeze. When I try to launch the start-up with windows 7 start-up disk, the computer will not load the files. When I tried to complete a hard drive test, it failed with a failure ID 9UXNXA-55E65V-XD003G-60XR03.
I'm looking for a solution, can someone help?Hi:
It sounds like you need to purchase a new hard drive for your notebook, and reinstall the operating system with your recovery disks.
When a HDD fails a diagnostic test, it normally means it is done for.

Sound Playback Issue with IDT High Definition Audio Codec HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Since i bought this laptop, every time i use skype or the Windows Sound Recorder, i hear static that drastically increases in volume. Uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio Codec prompts my computer to automatically install the driver again, this usually fixes the problem, but after restarting my laptop, the problem returns.
Does anyone know a permanent fix to this issue?

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC audio glitch
HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, Product number: QJ920AV#ABA, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
Is it even possible to simaltaneously use the audio and micrphone jacks? I have Turtle Beach headphones which have both inputs so that you have hear and transmit voice while listening to any in-game sounds. However, everytime I try, the audio gltiches and I can no longer hear anything or even play sound files in Windows Media player and I am forced to restart.
This only happens if I try to simaltaneously use those two ports. I would very much like to use them both so that when I am playing games I can avoid the irritating error (which displays no error image and is not detected by diagnostic reports) and so that I can hear both in-game music and hear other peoples' voices. This error has always been here.Hello fleming1442,

Hi...
just a quick question please,
my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC came with a 8GB RAM so can i increase the RAM size to be 16GB?
if yes will it have a great effect on my laptop performance or i wouldn't feel the deference?
my laptop details are as follow:
Product name: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
Product number: B6K67EA#ABV
thank you for your assistance in advanceHi:
Yes, you can upgrade your PC to 16 GB of memory.
2 x 8 GB of PC3-12800 notebook memory.
Whether or not you will "feel" a better performance increase depends on what you do with the PC, how many applications you have open at the same time, etc.
If it were me, I would max out the memory while it is still relatively inexpensive. -

Try following the procedure under the sub-heading 'Let me fix it myself' on the link below to remove the Upper and Lower filters and see if this helps the issue. Although Windows 8 is not mentioned, the registry keys should be the same.

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook Processor Upgrade
Hello,
I am considering having an Intel 4th generation (Haswell) i7 chip installed on my laptop. But, I do not know if it is compatible. Please leave any helpful comments, including if this upgrade is possible or not (i know some chips are soldered on). If it is possible, please leave places that are reliable for upgrading laptops. (I've upgraded a desktop in the past, and it didn't go so well, so NO DIY's!) Thanks guys.

Hi,
Haswell mobile architecture uses a completely different socket than previous generations. You may use a Sandy Bridge like Core i5-2450M on an Ivy Bridge laptop but you can't use Haswell in any of the previous generations:
http://ark.intel.com/products/75128/Intel-Core-i7-4800MQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_70-GHz
Socket: FCPGA946
So far I have heard there is no reason for an upgrade to Haswell from Sandy or Ivy Bridge computers.
