HP printer update software

How do I remove this Hewlett Packard software updater / checker  (I have removed the HP suite of software, the updater takes 'focus' and needs to be clicked to close it, it will then appear 2 minutes later ?

What are you seeing? Is this some HP utility software you installed? Can you describe it?

Just updated the latest Epson software printer update from Apple. Now all my prints look solarized. How do I get rid of the new update and go back to the perfect prints I had before? Help please. Wasting ink and paper at the moment!!!!!!
I have tried the printer with my laptop (not updated) and everything is fine. It's just the beautiful 27" Imac that can no longer print.

Might be a corrupted printer preference file ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    ~/Library/Preferences
    Click Go
Move the com.apple.PrinterPrefs.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac, restart the printer...

  • Just updated software and now epson printer no longer works

I'm frustrated.  I updated software ( as recommended by apple) and now my epson printer no longer is working. I've read through some threads about throwing the extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleUSBEthernetHost  away... and that is not working for me.  I cannot print. I have also followed the info on the apple site about deleting the printer and then readding it, all to no avail.  please help. thankyou.

Without knowing anything about the printer, version of OS X installed, or how the printer is connected it is difficult to help you out. When posting please post specifics.

Lion was just installed by Genius bar and I am updating software.  Also did 10.7.4 update.  The driver for my Brother MFC-J6710DW  will not install.  Have downloaded it three times.  When I try to print I get the message that there is new software to install from Software Update.  Grrrr.  Have also tried a reinstall from  the driver on a disk that came with the printer.  Any insights?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list. Post the messages from the last installation attempt, starting from the time when you launched the Installer or Software Update.

There have been a few threads recently about printing problems since the 10.6.8 update. One was several pages long and offered a few other fixes - if I can find it I'll post back.

  • Printer Installer software closes immediately at "Applying updates"

I have a Photosmart 2575, running Windows 7 X64 and the printer Installer software closes immediately at "Applying updates" right after clicking OK to accept EULA. I have had problems with driver removal and installation every time I've had to do this, which is fairly regularly because I start getting an error regarding the HP software when trying to scan something. I've had the same problem on 4 different computers and 3 operating systems.
I started by uninstalling all HP software. I then ran Revo Uninstaller to remove and traces of HP software. I then ran a Level 4 uninstall. (rebooting countless times during this process and after).  I tried installing the driver manually as well to no avail. I also tried the automated utility that jsut kept trying to download and isntall the 300mb+ file over and over after failing. This has been an ongoing problem and still no changes have been made to the installer or software in just under 3 years.

Based on the thousands of posts around the internet with this issue, I figured I would post the solution that worked for me as there are so many others with the same problem.
Launch the installation and follow the steps untll the License agreement step.

  • Update software printer

I have a mac osx 10.9.4 and i want to update it to my hp photosmart C4480, I have clicked update software and it says it is not available.

    I would really appreciate.

If no driver updates are available, then you most likely have the latest version.

  • Officejet Pro 6830 all in one - screen stuck on "checking for printer updates"

    Windows 7 X64 install
I ran through the entire installation process and while the printer will print and will scan - the printer is hung on the message "checking for printer updates" with a red x below that message.  I let it set all night and no change.  The printer is setup as a wired network connection and can be seen with any of the tools.  I have not errors on my system.  I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled twice without success.  I tried running a firmware update, but the firmware update states that I have the latest firmware rev.  I even unplugged the printer and plugged it directly into the wall - n o change.  Evertime I startup the printer screen, just hangs on that screen.
    Please help.

I have the exact same problem with my new HP Officejet Pro 6830 printer.  Please could you provide a solution else I guess it will have to go back to the shop as I only picked it up this afternoon.
Setup went ok and it even managed to print a couple of pages.  But next time it started up (with wired ethernet connection) this problem occurred and happens every time ever since.  (It is possible to use the printer for printing and scanning via PC, but the whole time its display is showing the "checking for printer updates" message.)
This even happens if the ethernet cable is not connected on startup (meaning the printer cannot be used as a standalone printer / copier either at the moment).
If I press the red cross (which I guess cancels the update searching) then I get a blue screen saying "B871634E" for a second or so, afterwhich I get a black screen with the message "There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On." and cannot do anything else.  (The problem is the same after doing a printer off then on - even when following the "hard reset" procedure already mentioned.)
On checking the firmware version via the PC utility (while the printer sits there "checking for printer updates"), the PC utility app reported that the firmware was the latest version.

  • Printer Update 2.16 Killed Wireless Printing on my Epson SX600FW

I have been using an Epson SX600FW for several years and I don't remember having a problem with it until I recently allowed Software Update to install Printer Update 2.16 and since then I have been unable to print via wireless. I can still print via USB but I won't bore you with how much of a nuisance it is for me to have to do this but it is a major pain.
When I try to print via wireless, everything looks normal until after the document has spooled and then the printer window simply says 'looking for printer'.
In Preferences, the printer looks OK with a small green circle next to it but in the printer's utility, it states that the printer is not responding even though it gives ink levels.
I have tried installing the drivers from Epson's site - they are dated 2008 so I doubt they are the latest but they didn't work anyway. Even after that, Software Update doesn't seem to think that the old drivers need updating.
I have read on here of other people's problems with this update not just with Epson printers. Is there any way to revert to how my Mac was a week ago without doing a full Time Machine restore?
I'm pretty annoyed that an update has broken something which has worked for years.

    I have a solution
I have a workforce 850 but encountered the same problem. Here's the steps I took to fix:
Went to the printer. and printed a network connection report. (the printer should of course be connected to your wireles network). Obtain the IP address
    Turn off the printer.
Go to Apple menu (upper left on desktop) > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. Delete the print queue and remove the printer by clicking on the button under the list of printers. Click OK to confirm the removal.
Press the CTRL button on the keyboard and click on the white box on the left (where the printers should be listed) and click on Reset Printing System. (Note: This step deletes all installed printers on the list. You will need to re-add all printers installed on this computer)
Turn on the printer. Click the   button. The system should automatically detect the printer. Click the Add button and try to print.
If the printer doesn't show after the Reset, click the IP tab and enter the IP address obtained in step one
Your printer should now show on the USE pulldown menu. Click Add and try to print

  • Trying to update software on ipad 2.  Software feature not listed under Settings and itunes not connecting...

I am trying to update my ipad 2 ios software and when I select Settings, then General, there is no option for software.  Also, when I connect to itunes, the ipad is not even acknowledged.  My initial goal is to connect to a wireless printer, but I need to update software first.  Any thoughts on how to update this software that I cannot find and make a connection with itunes when not acknowledged?
    Thanks.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.4. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

  • Epson Print CD software with TC

    Hello,
I have an Epson RX595 plugged into my Time Capsule and wireless printing works fine. I cannot scan over wireless, but I have read that this is normal and not supported (if I'm incorrect please tell me). The problem I am having is printing onto a CD/DVD via Epson's Print CD software. It has been working fine when USB'd directly to my MBP, but when I try and print over wireless I get an error message saying the required drivers are not installed. I can unplug from the TC and into my MBP and it will print just fine. Is there anyone who has this working? I have emailed Epson support and have not heard back for a week.
Also I can not longer see ink levels when the printer is plugged into the TC. Is there a way to do this?
I have the latest drivers from Epson, latest firmware/updates for TC/Airport Utility.
    Thanks

No. I guess it is like scanning - you need a 2-way communication channel and wireless printing like this is basically 1-way. Or something like that. Anyway, I know it doesn't work. I think you may find other things such as cleaning print heads etc. also require a direct connexion - at least, that is how it is for me with an admittedly different printer.
The bit about scanning is correct, too.
No idea about the CD/DVD printing issue. Sorry.

After updated software on mac mini with os x 10.7.5 and restart the mouse pointer after about 30 sec. converted to the rainbow wheel and I can't control the computer. The rainbow wheel was runnig 8 hrs and I turn off mac mini by power button, then I turn on mac mini with key Shift and p/w, checked HD. My HD has
capacity 499.25 GB used 86.91GB. Is there a solution to fix this problem axcept the reinstall os?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in safe mode.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    for k in /Sy*/L*/Ex*/{,.?}*.kext; do test -f "$k/Contents/Info.plist" && /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Print :CFBundleIdentifier" "$_" | egrep -qv "apple|Accusys|ArcMSR|ATTO|CalDigit|HighPoint|hp-fax|JMicron|print|SoftRAID|stex" && echo $k; done | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook | open -f -a TextEdit
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    Repeat with this line:
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 4
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, Steps 1-4 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • HP Printer update 2.7 causes inky disaster with Photosmart B9180

Just a heads up that installing the HP printer update 2.7 through software update creates a huge problem with the Photosmart B9180. After routinely installing this update last month, I finally decided to print something. It came out of the printer almost black and dripping with ink. It dripped on my hardwood floors and splashed on my hardwood cabinets. I was able to sop up the ink, wash and dry the floor and cabinet before the ink dried. I first assumed that the printer had simply failed after a few years of use.
Then I googled to find out that the problem had been experienced by others and was due to the new printer driver distributed by Software Update as v. 2.7 for a variety of printers. The update takes the B9180 driver to version 3.3.0. It was very difficult find the earlier version of the driver to install, but fortunately, I had saved HPPrinterDrivers2.5.2 from November 2010, and installing that version took my printer back to behaving normally. Now I get alerts from Software Update to install the HP printer update 2.7, which would of course, recreate this problem with the printer. I hope that Apple will stop distributing this update until HP fixes its driver for the B9180. Here is a link to the forum that first reported the problem: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-printing-and-scanning/Very-stange-behaviour-Pho tosmart-B9180-prints-with-huge-amount/m-p/879141#M20791
HP has not responded to these posts on its own forum.

I agree. But as I said in my first post, my HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One c309a continues to work fine. But I have had this kind of issue before. Last time in what I think was HP 2.6 update it was the c309a that lost the ability to scan (the tab disappeared from the print preferences for the printer). At the time I was advised that HP had messed things up. There were pages and pages on the HP support website devoted to trying to sort the issue out. But it took about a year for a further update to surface.
I am away for a few days now but will try your suggestion as well as a re-boot of everything on my return and then see if moving to Mountain Lion sorts it.

  • Recent Printer Update screwed up my fax to email option

I have an HP - Officejet Pro X476dw Wireless All-In-One Printer that worked fine, converting my faxes to pdf files and forwarding them to my email.  After I receieved notice from the printer screen that an update was available, I updated.  This morning, the lights were going crazy on my printer screen.  I hit the power switch and the printer came back online.  There is an error mark next to the fax icon.  It reads that the the server is rejecting the security setting.  I went back in and redid everything the same way it was... no go.  I can receive faxes, but they are not forwarded to my email.
How do I get rid of the update that caused this problem, or how can I fix it?
    All help is appreciated.

For the second time, I woke up to find the lights on the small screen on the printer flashing as if a pinball machine got tilted.  Tapping the screen wouldn't stop it.  I had to hit the power switch and then the machine came back online.  There was an error on the fax icon at first reading that the name was incorrect.  Then it went on to read that the server could not accept the secure connection.  When I try to edit the fax to email software on my computer the HP error states that it cannot be sent to the "to" email.  This is ridiculous.  It worked fine with the exact same settings for a whole year.  Then when the printer updates itself... it's screwed.  How can I get this thing back and working?  This is my business here?
