HP Veer fails in setup trying to sign on APN error
Hi all,
Sorry for the extremely long post, it's kind of a complicated problem.
Last week my wife sent her Veer through the wash, and not surprisingly it didn't survive
So we bought a new Veer from Amazon. When I ordered it, delivery time showed a delivery day of June 28th, but the estimated delivery date with the shipping notice was to be July 5 which was too long for her to go without a phone, which majorly ****ed me off. So I wanted to get a full size smartphone anyway so bought a new Focus S for myself intending to give her my Veer and then just sell the new one when it got in.
Please note that we are using a prepay plan with no data plan, which turned out to be a HUGE deal when talking with the AT&T people.
I did a WebOS doctor wipe on the Veer and tried to go through setup on it. It restarted and I went through the setup process. It all worked fine up to the point where I needed to sign in to our profiles. I kept getting a sign in error, I even tried setting up a new sign on, nothing worked. Swapped sim cards, and tried both of our logons. I can't get past this sign on page so I am completely blocked at this point.
After trying to sign in it times out and we get to a screen "Sign in Failed" with an button for "Enter Phone Settings" with the following options already filled out.
INTERNET APN - wap.cingular
USERNAME - [email protected]
PASSWORD - Encrypted field but looking online found it was CINGULAR1
Called up AT&T support, they couldn't figure it out and so thought the phone was bad and since my Veer was under warranty they are sending me a new one (charged me $15.00 to get it shipped by Monday!!) At this point I figured I had some how killed the phone during the reset process, but then the mailman came and delivered us the phone we ordered from Amazon, so tried that one, same darn problem with it, grrrr.... So next I called up At&T and tried to cancel the replacement phone and get my bucks back, but they couldn't cancel it. **bleep**!
So called them back to explain the phone wasn't the problem and then I ended up with a "senior" support rep from AT&T, who to give the devil his due, tried to be helpful, we tried entering a bunch of different entries in the phone settings fields, nothing worked. After about two hours, she basically threw her hands up in the air and kept telling me this was an unsupported phone and that the 4g network wasn't supposed to work with the Veer and a bunch of other idiotic stuff. The same phone with the same sim had been working just fine up until the reset which she kept ignoring when she tried to tell me this, I kept calling BS on it.
My next step was to visit an AT&T store and try to use one of their sims that had a data plan on it to see if it would work to get past the sign on screen. Luckily I caught them in a very dead time, there were 5 of them standing around twiddling their thumbs so they were thrilled to try and help me out. Tried a couple of different sims, messed around with the phone settings again, none of these worked. I also had them check my wifes sim to confirm it still had plenty of cash on it, it did.
So the only thing I can think of is that the sign on server at HP\Palm is dead, but I can sign on and view my account online, phone shows up just like it should so not sure that is it either.
Any ideas how to get past this? Any chance I can restore a backup when the phone is in this state?
Believe me when I say any help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Just fixed my veer issues.
first, the apn should be WAP.cingular not wap.cingular, which is the (incorrect) preset apn. make sure your WAP in capitalized.
second, make sure you contact At&t and have them update the IMEI number associated with the sim card. the number can be found by sliding up the veer and looking on the back, mirrored section. it's small, but it's there.
those 2 things solved my issues. best of luck to you.

Step 2 failed with error message as above
I have checked on line and iCloud has all of my Reminders and correctly updates to / from my iPad
Contacts added in iPad and in iCloud don't sync at all
calendar updates in iPad don't get updated in iCloud neither does it work the other way roundI found a "solution" in amongst the discussion threads of downloading iCloud v1 which I did and it seems to work now. The issue does indeed seem to be with v2 of iCloud. I'll waste no more time now...

I recently signed out of itunes on my imac and when i tried to sign back in i get the error message: ConnectionManager::invoke::failed to find service connection url. If i try again i get another box asking if i've forgotten my password. But my password is definitely right as i just used to it make an account on this support page. Any simple ways of fixing this?
Just to test the simple things first, did you try to sign in using another credential?
If only yours fails, then is a RIM issue, otherwise is indeed your Playbook failure.

I am trying to reinstall CS5.5 Master Collection from DVD media on Windows 7 64 bit PC but setup.exe fails due to a msxml3.dll error.
Following a big bundle of recent Windows 7 updates, I started getting 'bad image' msxml3.dll error messages when opening any CS5.5 master collection program (Eg Premiere / Photoshop / Illustrator / Dreamweaver). Following advice on some threads here I tried uninstalling and then using the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool to clean up install, then reinstalling from my original DVD media.
Whenever I try using run setup.exe from installtion disc 1 the installing fails due to 'Missing files'. I have also tried dowloading trial versions and runing setup.exe fro mthe downloaded files but i still get the same message.
I have searched the forum and others have experienced this error but none of the solutions I have found seem to be working for me - as many seem to relate to download installations whereas I am installing from original DVD media (which worked fine before on the same PC)
These are the FATAL messages from the PDApp log
12/11/2014 15:29:27 [FATAL] PIM - Failed to Create XML instance : DOMDocument40 ADXML::initWithXMLPath Error:80040154
12/11/2014 15:29:27 [FATAL] Setup - Could not initialize ADXML object
12/11/2014 15:29:27 [FATAL] Setup - Unable to initialize. Error parsing setup.xml file
The PDApp troubleshooting seems to indicate that this is caused by error in downloads but I am getting it with both original media DVD and downloads.
I have also tried using my logon (which has admin privileges) and under our main admin account - and I get the same errors.
Is a clean install of Windows 7 + CS5.5 my only option?
Any help / info / advice / solutions very much appreciated! I have spent the last 2 days trying to sort this out and seem to be getting nowhere.
Thanks. Thanks for the reply kglad - much appreciated.
I have already tried that option (along with downloading files) as it was one of the solutions mentioned on other threads, but that also failed.
Any other ideas? -

This worked for me.
After that a Folder named "SMS_<SITESERVER-FQDN>" appeared on C: on the SQL Cluster nodes, and a "SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP_FQDN" Service should be installed.
After the new Folder is created and the new Service is installed, you can safely remove the bootstrap Service by opening a command prompt and enter:

i tried to sign in for icloud set up for the first time with my apple ID, But unable to get through as i receive a message saying your account limit is reached, then how to proceed.
I can't say why it should be doing this. If it persists then your only options are to set it up on another Mac or iOS device if you can (then you will be able to sign into it), or failing that to contact Support - though I don't know how helpful they are likely to be.
To contact iCloud Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee. -

I'm trying to sign in with my snapfish details and it tells me incorrect password.
Hi,
I'm logging in with my snapfish details (which i have recently changed the password for). The ePrintCenter tells me incorrect password.
If I try and setup an new account, it tells me that the email address has already been setup with snapFish, please login with those details.
Any Ideas?PleaseHelpMeNow,
What kind of printer are you trying to set up with ePrint ?
Have you set up ePrint before and just trying to sign in or are you trying to sign in for the first time to actually set it up ? If you are setting it up for the first time and are trying to create an account you might try to use a whole new email address to create an account if you have one. The only think you will need this email address for is just for signing in.
If you have already set up your printer with ePrint and just need to get in you might go to snapfish and see if you are able to sign in using your password. If you are able to get in and go back to eprintcenter and for some reason you are not able to get in you can delete your snapfish account. That is of course if you don't use your snapfish account. Deleting your snapfish account would disassociate your email and password from eprintcenter.
Let me know the details of your situation. I'll be glad to get your in.
If I helped you at all it would be great if you clicked the blue kudos star!
If I solved your post please mark it as solved to help others.

I did encounter the System Preferences applet you mentioned when trying to resolve the problem. It turns out that the applet isn't particularly reliable. It also doesn't address the "Access Forbidden" issue. At least that was the case for me.
I ended up using the Terminal / Unix solution presented above and am now back in business.
My beef with Apple isn't that the functionality can't be reenabled after applying some degree of work. It's more of a philosophical thing with me. People migrated from DOS to Windows and from Windows to Mac in search of simplicity. They wanted to get things done quickly and easily. To ask users to type in a bunch of arcane command line garbage just to host a local web site is crazy enough, but what makes this particular failure so reprehensible is that a perfectly functional user interface was ALREADY AVAILABLE. Some nitwit at Apple made a decision to remove that user interface and replace the functionality with a command line. That's just inexcusable. What's next? Will they ditch Pages and force people to use Unix VI editor for writing things? Why stop there? If they really want to go for the full 1990's experience, will the next edition of OSX block access to the Ethernet port and force us to use dial-up modems?
It's too bad Steve Jobs isn't still around to smack the originator of this half-brained scheme upside the head.
