HR Intelligence vs.DBI

Can someone explain the difference between EBS DBI for HRMS and HR Intelligence application -- requirements for implementing, etc.

Here's my best (slightly educated) guess, based on what little I know of the Intelligence apps in EBS.
DBI (Daily Business Intelligence) provides a framework for delivering Business Intelligence data within EBS. You then license/implement individual Intelligence modules within EBS. I think that means that HR Intelligence is the same as DBI for HRMS. In fact, when I look at the list of licensable products in my EBS system, I don't see DBI for HRMS listed, only Human Resources Intelligence ... in a addition to Customer Intelligence, Financial Intelligence, etc.
You might want to verify the above interpretation with your sales rep, but that's how I understand things to work now. The nomenclature for business intelligence apps in EBS can get a bit muddy, depending on which docs you read and how old they are, because things seem to be in a bit of flux these days...there's DBI, BIS, and, looming on the horizon, OBISE/OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence Standard/Enterprise Edition, which is not integrated tightly w/ EBS yet, but it's probably only a matter of time. :-)

  • How to fit Apps DBI reports in existing Disco setup

    Hi,
My Apps DBA has come up with a question regarding DBI reports in Apps.
They are using EBS 11i and they are required to setup DBI reports, that he says are discoverer reports. If he is right, then he needs to know if he can use the exiting setup of Discoverer that I have already done for reports runnning on databse EUL.
My discoverer 10g setup is a full blown installation linked to AS10g using SSO. Is it possible that he just stores Apps UIDs in OID, and creates an Apps EUL on my discoverer setup itself?
Since I am unaware or DBI so other questions are: what exactly is the DBI , does it have its own discoverer installation or can use any existing one? and is it at the same version i.e. 10g?
Any clues will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Goga

I'd check if he really is referring to DBI - daily business intelligence. DBI essentially is a full set up for different Oracle Apps 'suites' (ie: financials) that includes lots of good stuff such as materialized views, Discoverer views, reports, etc.
I'm wondering if he's thinking of the BIS views instead. These are a set of BIS - business intelligence system? / suite? that are generated from within Oracle Apps creating 'fully generated' views in the Apps schema that can be used for many Discoverer reports. However there's a procedure that has to be followed (including importing a current .eex file for your Oracle Apps version).
If he means that, then yes you can have BIS definitions in the EUL alongside the work you've already done.
But check with the DBA again on what's he actually trying to accomplish.

  • Daily Business Intelligence- DBI

    Hi ,
    Iam newbie to DBI.
I have gone through the DBI implementation guide and tried to create a new report.
Created a report and published it.
In the process of creating Initial Request set (in Daily Business Intelligence Administrator), could not find the report (that I have developed in Daily Business Intelligence Designer) in Generate Request set window.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thank You
    Veeru

    To enable dashboards and reports:
    1. Using the Daily Business Intelligence Administrator responsibility, navigate to
Setup : Global > Administer Content.
    2. Query the dashboard or report that you want to implement.
    3. Enable the Implement check box next to the dashboard or report. You can enable
several dashboards and reports at the same time.

  • Project Intelligence & Porfolio analysis & Project DBI

    Hi,
Project Intelligence & Portfolio analysis & Project DBI
Please help me to understand what all these would do?? in which way its unique???
    thanks a lot n advance...

    Hi
Project Intelligence and Project DBI are relatively old fashion reporting tools of the individual project (Project DBI) and of the project-centric organization (multiple projects (Project inteligence). Currently Oracle Offer the OBIA as The Solution for reporting out of EBS and Projects in particular.
Portfolio Analysis is an application aimed to assist top level management in evaluating multiple projects, analysis of their potential contribution to the company strategic goals, and making the decision which projects to approve and execute. This application might be useful for capital projects or indirect projects, where there are limited resources and budgets, and the best projects should be selected for execution in a given budget cycle.

  • Fusion Intelligence (DBI) content or data model

    Hi all,
At the moment we are implementing Fusion Intelligence (mainly financial). In order to determine to what extend the pre-build reports / dashboards matches the reports described in the functional design we need to know to what eBS objects the objects in the presentation layer of OBI EE are mapped to.
Can anyone help me getting a technical model of Fusion Intelligence that is usefull for the goal described above. Any suggestions are welcome!
    Thanks,
    job

    Hello
It uses the same materialised views as DBI. Therefore, if you have the data model for DBI then you have the data model for Fusion BI. The materialised views are created by request sets in the EBS and i am not sure if documentation exists. Maybe try metalink

  • Creating a DBI Report with a Generated Data Source

    Hi all,
I am on a customer site helping them to implement DBI.
We're using DBI Designer to create some Custom Reports.
We're interested in using Generated Data Sources in order to simplify handling of the complex Time Hierarchies implemented as standard within DBI (eg Rolling 30 days, Compare To Periods etc).
I've read the Metalink Note on how this should be achieved.
    (Note 363529.1)
Unfortunately, we seem to be in a Catch 22 situation.
The note states that we need to have BSC v5.3 (or later !) installed.
The latest patch version of OBSC we can find is 5100729 (BSC.I.delta.12).
Our belief is that BSC.I is version 5.2 (incidentally, why do we have two naming/numbering "conventions" ?)
    So two questions :
can we use generated data sources now, or do we have to wait for BSC 5.3 ?
when will BSC 5.3 be generally available ? (our customer uses HP/UX)
    thanks for any input
    Mike

    Hi All,
I am a newbie to DBI. Currently going through the documents DBI for Finanicials
    and Payable.
We have to develope custom reports for Payables and Financials intelligence based on Oracle Reports . I would like to know if its possible or not because I read a thread on Forum ("How do you make a copy of an existing DBI report? ") in which it mentions that it is not possible to edit a standard report.
And if it is possible how to go for that ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Anant.

  • Whats the difference between DBI and BIS ??

Our objective is to implement "Purchasing Intelligence".Does it mean that we
can implement "Purchasing Intelligence" reports either by using BIS or DBI ? DO
they give essentially same results or are they different?
What will be the difference using BIS or DBI for Purchasing Intelligence...
Could you refer me any document/note which i can have a look at to find the
difference between BIS or DBI with respect to Purchasing Intelligence.
    Thanks

    Hi
By seeing your post, i was interested in this topic and googled for this, i find this link which gives you the breif description abou theDaily BI.

  • How I can apply more than one DBI reports at a time?

I have many DBI reports (and maybe dashboards in future) in one database and I want to transfer them to second database. Of course I can export every report to individual zip file and than import this file to second database. But how I can import all my reports at a time? I tried to simply merge files in archives. But EBS imported only one report from merged zip file. Then I downloaded some patches (for example, E-Business Intelligence Family Pack 11i.BIS_PF.F) and explored their structure. I copied xml files with report description (RPerPersonsLayoutsource.xml and RPerPersonsDocsource.xml) from zip archive to <patch directory>\bis\mds, set versions in file-version attribute to 120.6 and wrote driver file. Than I tried to apply this patch. There was no errors (as I think) but report didn't appear in database.
So, can I do something to transfer many DBI reports at a time?

Not real sure what your asking but if you want to view two apps side by side, make sure they're not in full screen mode and drag the edge of a window to resize.  If you want to browser windows, On the menubar Safari > File > New Window.  Or the shortcut, CMD N
    Then resize to view both.

  • In DBI , how to find out the Source Query used for the Report

    Hi All,
How to find out the Source Query used to display the data in the DBI Reports or Dashboards. We can get it in Apps Front end by Going to Help and Record Histroty. But DBI Runs in Internet Explorer so i dont know how to get the source query ( SELECT Query ) Used.
In IE we have View --> Source . But that does not help since it gives the HTML Coding and not the SELECT Query used.
If anyone has ever worked on it...Please help me in finding it.

  • How to setup Daily Business Intelligence?

can anyone give me an idea on how to and steps in seting up DBI?

    - What questions would you have to pose in order to setup a business intelligence department Real answers from the corporate world? That would be along the the lines of..
Who is the executive or board sponsor? What's the budget? What are the strategic goals? What authority will you have for setting up the department? Who will you report to?
And yes, it will be more about dealing with corporate politics when managing a department than anything else. Not about shiny CV's. Not about publishing papers.
and what types of questions would you ask yourself when generating key measurements?Single question. Can the answer facilitate in either cutting losses or increasing profit? That is what the bottom line is. If you fail to show that there is a RIO for such a BI department, the department (and you) will have a very short future in the corporate.
I find these questions a bit weird though as they have nothing really to do with BI and everything to do in dealing with the culture, internal structures and operational procedures of a corporate. A simple issue like fully understanding HR procedures and policies can spell the difference between employing an excellent BI candidate, or loosing him/her to the competition. Or not following Procurement's red tape trail can delay purchasing of critical software or hardware by months.
People and management skills are by far more critical in such a position than claiming years and years of BI experience.

  • DBI Initial and Incremental request sets

    Dear All,
We have installed EBS R12 vision instance as well as Blank instance(2 different instances)
As we have one utility in EBS R12 i.e DBI (Daily Business Intelligence) and there are so many Initial and Incremental request sets to populate the materilized views and summary tables for fiancials, HRMS, procurment etc.
We can see these request sets in EBS R12 vision instance however we are not able to see these request sets in blank instance.
So my question is that do we have to enable or is there any configuration or setup to view those request sets in DBI or we have to create all the request sets manually in blank instance.
    Thanks in advance.
