HT1267 i bought 2 iphone 3gs both charged on my computer through itunes and now say your iphone could not be activated because the activatation server is currently unavailable i have done everything and been everywhere but to no avail pls can someone hepl
Please can someone offer me some help in sorting out issues with 2 new iphone 3gs.
I purchased them in mid april this year brand new unlocked.. I had them plugged into my laptop charging and both now are requesting to be restored . Get as far as activatation then i get message
Your IPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. I have been to Telstra store 3 times and into the Mac Pro store where i am today
No one is able to help me unless i go to melb sydney or Brisbane!
Any help would be so very much appreciated
That is almost always because the phone was hacked to unlock it from the original carrier.

I can not activate my iphone 3gs after updating to ios 6.0.01. I tried connecting to the activating server by wifi and itune. I powered my iPad off and when I turned it back on it is telling me to reconfigure it. So I select English then United States then I selected my WiFi then message comes up that says your iPad could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting your iPad to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes. Have tried several times and it is still not working. Nothing will show on screen on icons nothing.
Try to Update your iPad to iOS 6.1.4 when connected to iTunes via USB too.. You do not need to touch anything on your iPad to update your iPad either..

Generally, that means the phone has been jailbroken (hacked). You can try restoring it as new using iTunes. Beyond that, there's really nothing we can advise as jailbroken phones can't be supported on these forums.

i live in iran. this 3gs was a gift from america .. it contains NOTHING. i can do nothing with it. it cannot be updated cuz the version is low. i dunno what t do please help.Possible causes:
1. Your antivirus is blocking access to gs.apple.com.
2. Your phone is jailbroken.
3. Your computer has been used at some time in the past to jaibreak some iOS device (not necessarily the phone with the problem), and its network database was corrupted by the hacking software that was used.
4. Apple's activation servers are down (very rare, and never for more than an hour or so).
5. The phone was reported stolen. If it was it can never be activated again.
For 1. try disabling your antivirus.
For 2. & 3. you need to go somewhere other than an apple forum for help. Although you can try deleting lines containing gs.apple.com from your "hosts" file on your computer. -

Where exactly did you get this phone?
Do you have a SIM in the phone?
There are 2 primary causes for this.
Either you don't have a SIM in the phone, which is REQUIRED to activate it, or the phone was hacked to unlock it. -

2 errors: "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable" and the sim says "searching" while iTunes says there is "No Sim installed" - but of course, there is! Any help please??

Thank you for the note - I have seen similar replies on other posting errors and I see how that could make sense. The thing is, my iPhone is not jailbroken - it is from an authorized distributor. However, when I told them about the "no service" problem on the sim, they were unable to assist. Then my phone messaged that an itunes restore was required - so I did that, several times, to the error message now noted on my post. I wonder if there is some other way to over-write this message? Thanks very much. -

The activation servers are probably overloaded with everyone trying to update to iOS 7 today. You might need to wait and try again later.
