Will installing or changing memory ivalidate the insurance or the warranty

The Late 2011 MacBook Pro requires 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM. It won't work if you install 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM. You can buy RAM at OWC or Crucial > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_133 3MHz_SDRAM

  • I installed addtl memory and the computer will come on but no screen

I jsut installed addtl memory to the 1.83 as only had 512 with the original purchase years ago...bought from Apple genius recommended Crucial
go the old out, added the new on the 2nd try as the new went in upside down from the old and according to the Apple demo, 2 sticks of 1 on the upper and lower areas...computer will now not come on..it turns on but no screen shows...what happened?

First remove the RAM and stick the orignal 512MB in, see if the computer works. It should fine.
Next remove the 512GB and replace with 1GB, see if the computer works, if so then
Install the second 1GB and see if it works,
If the first 1GB didn't work, then use the other and see if the computer works, if it does then install the 512MB in the second slot, if it doesn't work, you got a bad slot.
Document all your steps carefully, you have to determine which is the bad RAM module or if you have a bad RAM slot
One you can exchange, the bad slot your just out of luck.

  • I want to know how to remove the back cover of my HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 to install new memory?

I want to know how to remove the back cover of my HP Product name: HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 to install new memory?  All the HP website shows is how to remove memory covers.  Unfortunately, with newer models like mine, the whole back cover needs to be removed.  I have tried unsuccessfully to remove it but so far all that I have succeeded in doing is to scratch my cover.  So can anyone help???
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
The procedure is detailed starting on Page 67 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
Note:  I don't work for HP, but looking at the degree of disassembly required, I would say the procedure may well void the conditions of warranty.

  • Will a new computer fix the problem?

I currently have a Windows XP system from appx 2004 with PSE 3.0 on it. PSE 3.0 is no longer responding when I try to open the browser or editor or anything! the computer seems to be having other issues as well so I think its time to upgrade to a newer computer. When I last backed up my photos (44,000+) to an external drive, the PSE 3.0 was working fine.    If I get a new computer and install PSE 3.0 on the new computer and use my backup to load all my photos to the new computer..   will the PSE 3.0 load with all of the original tags from the photo browser?

I have never performed a backup with video files, as I don't have any.
Nevertheless, based on the way the PSE Organizer works, I am relatively certain that the tags for videos are included in the backup (as well as the tags for photos). I'm also relatively certain that both photos and videos are included in the backup. (Note: I am referring to backups made via the Organizer command File->Backup Catalog)
But the only way to know for sure is to cross your fingers and try it.
Best to start a new thread since your question has nothing to do with the original topic (will a new computer fix the problem)

Does anyone know how to solve this tiresome problem, please!?? The update is downloaded upto 723.5MB, and is required upto 723,6MB, then the error message pops out! Tnx.

I have a quick wifi connection (Mac shows it as about 35 megabits) but I couldn't get the 5.0.1 OTA to work, I had to do it via cable to my computer's iTunes - and as I was already on iOS 5 it was only a small download, basically the same size as the OTA size.
As the original poster is talking about a 730 meg download then I assume that they are still on iOS 4.3.5 or below and can therefore only download via their computer's iTunes - you need to be on iOS 5+ before you get the OTA option.

  • When will a new version of the 7D be released? Or, will there be one?

I got my Canon 7D just after it came out.  It has been out a very long time and now seems "behind" in features compared with some of the features of other recently released Canon EOS cameras.  When will a new version of the 7D be released?  Or, is this the end of the product cycle and there will be no more 7D cameras?  I have been looking forward for a long time to getting a new version to replace my current one... in the past have gotten, right after release the 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D 7D - but they were always coming out about 18 months or so apart.

    "... in the past have gotten, ... the 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D 7D ..."
WOW, you have quite a collection!
I am more sure, than not sure, there will be a new version of the 7D out soon. The 7D is a wonderful camera and I can't imagine the "new" one will out do it by much in the photo taking category. It will probably have other great features, though.

  • Installing new memory

okay, to make a long story longer...i purchased my mac intel over six months ago from macmall, had a bit of a problem when the memory became disloged. (would not start) after several great responses from the discussion forum and many hoops later, i had to bite the bullet and bring it in to an authorized service center. no problem...they said the memory was bad, contact mac-mall...which i did, they said contact lifetime memory products...which i did...finally after much ado about nothing, and three months later i got my new memory replacement...
now, i am trying to install this memory and it just does not work...I have pushed it in, heard some "clicks" whatever else i could do, but when this second 512 mb is in my computer, i go back to the old days of blank screen and indicator light on...nothing more...
this thing will just not work on my computer...what am i doing wrong and how can i get this fixed...
i am convinced that i should toss this memory and go to my service center and pay to have this installed...along with perhaps a larger memory upgrade...
but i really dont want to pay as the money is just not there...
    any thoughts or suggestions???
and, as always, thanks in advance...
i just am clueless about making this memory work for me...(and this kind of stuff usually happens right after i tell someone in the office they should have bought a mac....) ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH.
    thanks again.

    vince bennett,
Perhaps there is more than one way, but I copy the web address from the browser's address bar and place it after these eight characters separated by a space which I have added as the ninth character:
    shift comma/a/space/h/r/e/f/equals mark/quote
then follow that address with these two characters:
    quote/shift period
which I then follow with the word, phrase, title or description I want to use, that followed by the four closing characters which complete the hyperlink:
    shift comma/normal slash/a/shift period
No additional spaces are used but for the one. The descriptive text you are adding prior to the four closing characters may contain spaces and as far as I know can be as short or long as you wish it to be. Additional short or extensive typing or punctuation can then be added after the four closing characters, or use the return button and start another hyperlink on the next line if you wish to display more than one hyperlink, or to begin a list of hyperlinks, keep using the return key.
I do not know why, but when I first entered this with the actual characters typed as I've indicated, none showed up but there was a lot of empty space surrounding my explanation, which itself became one long line of hypertext which lead to a dead end, of course. Apparently displaying those small combinations of characters gives them power:-o Spooky stuff!

  • Installing new memory resort to clean startup?

This maybe a very obvious question but here goes anyway...I'm about to upgrade my MacBook Pro from the standard 4GB memory to 8GB. My question is whether the switch will erase all of my current settings, apps & files on my computer and revert back to factory settings or 'Clean StartUp'.
I'm not worried about loosing any of my files, apps and/or settings,  I''m asking because I want to start fresh after I switch to the 8GB...I'm just not sure whether this will happen automatically or whether I will have to manually restore back to factory settings once the new memory is installed.
Also, any tips or advice to look out for when re-installing apps that have pre-existing serial numbers would also be very helpful (i.e Microsoft Office)
    Thank You!!
    M

    shmonz,
no, replacing your memory modules will not affect the contents of your hard disk. The main concern is ensuring that static electricity is discharged before handling your memory modules, both new and old, since static electricity can functionally destroy them. Occasionally new memory modules exhibit defects that weren’t caught at the factory, so if you notice programs misbehaving after you install the new memory, try reïnstalling the old memory to see if the misbehavior disappears. If it does disappear, then contact the memory vendor to obtain replacements for your new memory.

  • G5 won't start up (black screen saying restart) after installing new memory

I have installed two new memory cards and removed the original and now my computer starts to start up - But then locks with a gray overlay and says restart - which you can only do by a hard start.

The trick with installing memory is that you have to PUSH harder than you can possibly imagine, so hard that you think you will damage the RAM, but you won't. Keep pushing till you hear a click.

  • Monitor not working after installing new memory in Mac Pro

I installed 4GB of new memory in my first generation Mac Pro following diagram. When I booted the monitor is black. The key board is working but not the monitor. I removed the new memory and tried again but same problem. Any suggestions on solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Well no one really buys from Apple and higher density goes into A1:2 then B1:2 and four DIMMs in those is best symmetrical configuration.
You say you tried xyz but not really very specific to me.
Some users doesn't tell much. However sometimes putting all the 512MB (not 500) on one Riser and the 4GB set on other has worked.
If it doesn't work with just the new RAM alone in A1:2 then it is bad or wrong and needs to go back.
And there have been 3-4 article changes on how to reset SMC. Yours has an SMC button. Leaving unplugged alone is a waste and almost useless. Hitting power button while unplugged was added in 2009.
And it could still be your GPU which is common - 7300 or X1900 or 8800GT... or...

  • Installing new memory in MacBook Pro

I just installed a 2GB of memory in the slot where the 1GB was because it was not being recognized in the second slot.
When I first installed the 2GB in the top slot, which was the available slot, I turned the computer on and it didn't recognize the memory. I opened the back up again, and figured out that the memory was not pushed in all of the way, so I made sure that it was pushed in and when I turned the system on the little light was blinking, then I checked it again, and then the computer sounded that it was coming on but never came on, but the light was solid.
In order to make sure that there was nothing wrong with the memory, so I put it in the slot that the 1GB previously occupied, then put the 1GB in the available slot, which was the slot that was open from the beginning. At that point the system didn't boot up. But upon removing the 1GB from the slot and the 2GB being in the slot that the 1GB originally occupied, the system booted up fine.
The problem appears to be the slot.
    Please advise.
    thanks

I've encountered the same exact problem when trying to install an Axiom Memory Solutions 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM SODIMM [http://www.axiommemory.com/config/products/branded/MA347G/A-AX.aspx] for my 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro. It is currently up and functioning with the 2GB memory stick in the inmost slot alone but does not allow for both 1GB and 2GB memory sticks to be installed at once in either order of configuration. I have yet to test to see if it will function with the 2GB memory stick in the outermost slot alone, in which case if it were to function in this configuration I would conclude the problem to be caused by the combination of the 1GB and 2GB memory sticks.
Every bit of information I had read prior to making the decision to purchase this 2GB memory stick assured me that my version of the MacBook Pro would function under a 2GB/1GB configuration, but my findings here prove otherwise.
In order to determine what step needs to be taken in order to obtain 3GB of overall RAM, I need the following to be ansered:
Does my version of the MacBook Pro in fact allow for a 2GB/1GB memory stick configuration? If this is the case, which 2GB memory stick must I obtain [in order to assure I'm purchasing the correct memory stick - this time - I require the utmost specificity]. If this is NOT the case, I must therefore purchase another 2GB memory stick to accompany the one I just purchased in order to obtain the maximum 3GB RAM for my version of the MacBook Pro [that only allows for 3GB maximum even if 4GB of RAM are intalled]. I would naturally purchase the exact same 2GB Axiom memory stick I previously purchased, but I need to know if this configuration will in fact allow my MacBook Pro to function.
I apologize for my lack of brevity, but I would prefer to be specific and not have to deal with this problem too much longer.
    Thanks,
    Christopher

  • Installed new memory and Macbook Pro wont start.

I bought a total of 8GB from PNY for my mid 2009 MacBook Pro (2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).  I installed it and my macbook wont turn on.  When I press the power button it just beeps.  The LCD doesnt turn on.   I reinstalled it a few times to make sure that it is sitting correctly with no luck.  I reinstalled my old memory (2x2gb) and it works fine.
The new memory I bought is PNY  8GB (2x 4GB) Bual Channel DDR3 PC3-10666.  The package says that it is compatiable with 1333MHz and 1066MHz.  This is the listed memory on the PNY website for Mac laptops.
Am I using the worng type of memory?  I'm pretty sure my MacBook Pro can take 8GB...right?
    THANKS!

One beep indicates no RAM installed. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1547.
What happens when you reinstall the old original memory? Does the computer boot then?
