HT1296 can I sync i phone 5 with my microsoft outlook emails/reminders

My email address is on a (pop3) account not a server, I have set up my email on the Iphone 5 and the emails download fine, my issue is that when I am out of the office I get emails and when I check them either on the phone or on the computer I have to check them again on the other device.  Also can I set a reminder in appointment on my comp or phone that will also appear on the other device?
I have been told that this cannot be done as my email is a (pop3).  If anyone could help it would be great.

No you don't understand it.
The option for email accounts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences witth iTunes is for transferring the email account settings for the selected email accounts from your computer to the iPhone's Mail app. If these email accounts are POP accounts, all this does is create the POP accounts with the iPhone's Mail app so you don't have to manually create the accounts on the iPhone. This does not run the POP accounts through iCloud. An Apple iCloud account is a completely separate email account that can be accessed as an IMAP account with Outlook on your computer, but your POP accounts will not be accessed though an Apple iCloud account.
You can sync contacts and calendar events direct with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on your computer via the iTunes sync process. This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes as well.

How can I sync up my calendar from Microsoft Outlook with my ipad 2? Or do I have to enter in all of the dates individually?

When the iPad is connected to your computer's iTunes, then on the device's Info tab you should be able to select where to sycn a calendar from - from the iPad manual :
You can sync calendars from applications such as iCal on a Mac, or from Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync calendars with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync calendars with only one application at a time.)

  • I have updated my iPhone 3s to the latest software. I had backed up my phone before I did this. Now I have lost my music and apps. I can't sync the phone with my Mac, I can't re-download as the phone says I don't have any music or apps available. Help!

I have updated my iPhone 3Gs to the latest software in an attempt to iron out a problem with a new telephone network provider (Tmobile). I had backed up my phone before I did this. Now I have lost my music and apps. I can't sync the phone with my Mac, I can't re-download from iTunes as the phone says I don't have any music or apps available to re-download although it all shows up on my Mac. The music and app content cannot be restored when I try to restore the phone from the back up I madeon my Mac. Help!

Working on that now.  I'm just getting frustrated that everytime I run updates for the phone I end up with tech problems that I have to spend time solving as opposed to updates that actually improve my usage.  Now I will once again get to spend hours reloading my phone all for updates that didn't affect my usage in the first place.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome

    1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

  • HT1386 The laptop I originally synch'd my iphone 4s with is broken and cannot retrieve any files. How can I sync the phone with a new laptop without losing all my downloaded music and apps already installed on my iphone?

If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.

  • I can not sync my phone with this Macbook Pro

I had a nasty suprise I paid out over £1500.00 to be told that I can not sync my phone with this Macbook Pro.
the reason for buying a Mac is that the windows 7 machine is in little bits so how do I sync that.  there is no music on this Mac pro and if I try to sync my phone it wants to wipe my phone That is Pants!

    FTFY (for readability):
"I had a nasty surprise, when after having paid out over £1500.00, I learned that I am unable to sync my phone (unidentified model) with my new MacBook Pro (unidentified model).
The reason I bought the Mac was due to the fact that my former computer, a Windows 7 machine, has been damaged beyond repair.
There is no music currently loaded onto my new Mac, and when I try to sync the data on my Mac to my phone (unidentified model) I am prompted with a warning that my phone data will be wiped clean. This is not good!"
Okay, so I'm just being a little cheeky here - no offense intended.
Details are always best when seeking assistance, however. Try not to make others do the work for you. Take the time to do it yourself.
What model of Mac do you have?
What version of OSX are you using?
What version of iTunes are you using for syncing purposes?
What model of phone are you using and what software version is installed on it?
Try to better articulate the steps you are performing and the warnings that you are encountering.
    Best of luck.

  • Can I sync my phone with two Macs?

    Howdy,
I have a Mac at home and a Mac at work, both of which I keep sync'd with .Mac. I have a bluetooth adaptor on the Mac at home which I use to sync with my Sony Ericsson T637. If I put a bluetooth adaptor on the Mac at work, can I sync my phone with either Mac interchangeably? That is, if I sync my phone with my home Mac, then come to work and sync it with my work Mac, will iSync do the right thing? Will it realize that all the data is the same and not try to duplicate everything, even though it's syncing with a different computer?

It's not a good idea, because the complexity of such synchronization events. While ideally you should be able to attach your other devices to any workstation and synchronize at any time - if each workstation is, in fact, kept up-to-date through .Mac - in reality, such data exchanges are not reliable.
You are best advised to avoid any action which complicates an already relatively complex, limited and - at times - unstable and unreliable - technology. The best approach is to pick one workstation as a sort of 'synchronization server' to which all other devices are attached, either through USB, Bluetooth or, in the case of .Mac, wireless or terrestrial ethernet.

  • Can I sync my phone with just certain contact groups?

We have two iphones that are linked to one apple id. i have had to turn off cloud contact syncing as it was syncing both phones with all contacts
Syncing with my mac allows syncing with specifc contact groups, is this possible with cloud syncing?

iCloud will not sync specific contact folders like iTunes.  The only way to separate your contacts is to set up different iCloud accounts on both phones.  If you want to do this, first decide which phone will be moving to the new account, then on the phone that will be moving, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The other phone will not be effected by this.)  Next, set up a new iCloud account on this phone using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.  At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the other phone's contacts from your account, and vice versa).  These changes will be reflected on each phone.  When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

I recently split my iPhoto library into two separate libraries to save space on my hard drive. One is now on an external drive and the one that I want to sync with my iPhone is on my hard drive. Now when I try to save the iPhone and asks me to choose a library but won't allow me to choose the new library I created. the library is located in my pictures folder. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?
