I assume this is due to the fact that system detects your internal monitor as default one, and that is there where system sends main data. In order to force system send data to the external monitor, get a mouse and physical keyboard, close MB lid, and then press any key on the external keyboard.
when you get there, go to system preferences/display, and manually move the Apple upper bar to the external monitor, then choose mirror; ultimately, set optimal resolution.

10.6.6 - upgraded and now can no longer see files on the desktop

I upgraded to 10.6.6 and now I can no longer "see" any of my files that are located on the desktop. However, I can see the files in Finder. Anyone else experience this?

Also, I can no longer drag files to the desktop and the right-click contextual menu no longer appears when I right-click in the desktop.

I can no longer download anything from the new style app store on 1st gen iPod touch

Whenever I click to install an app from app store the button disappears. If I click again in the general area that the button should be, I get a green empty button, if I cclick that, it turns blue but still nothing happens. On the old style app store it used to either begin unstallion or tell me that the app wasn't compatible with my device. Now I get NOTHING. Please can someone help?!

It started a few days ago when I and many other 1st gen users noticed that we could no longer download podcasts directly to our iPods, and after a day or two that seemed to be fixed, but now the app store is broken for us. For me when I try to download an app I press the button and then the graphics for the button get all jumbled. I can see it's there but the edges and letters are all mixed up and wierd looking. It turns green like the download button, and when I push that it turns blue and then just sits there doing nothing. I know this isn't a problem with updating my software because anyone who knows anything about earlier models knows that they stopped updating the iOS for them a long long time ago. This is definitely a problem on Apples end where they've made some kind of changes to the app store that break it on earlier iPods (I saw another post from a 2nd gen user who is having the same problem). I hope Apple fixes this soon.

I can no longer purchase anything at the iTunes store. I get error 45064

For the past 18 months I have not been able to purchase items here in Germany. My situation is a bit odd, I have my computer and IP in Germany, my billing is a USA account. I continually get error 45054. No matter what I do, it does not work. I've even gone so far as to cancel my account and delete all iTunes files, nothing works. However, when visiting the USA, I brought my laptop, joined iTunes and was able to purchase music. However, the second I tried to do so, with the same laptop, after returning to Germany, I received the same error notice.
I suspect it's a tax issue, music purchased here in Germany through iTunes is significantly more expensive than the USA site. I'd like find out if an iTunes technician can figure this one out, perhaps even remoting into my computer.

If you are in Germany then you can only use the German iTunes store - you have to be in a country to use its store, using a country's store when not in that country is a violation of the store's terms (terms that you've agreed to) and Apple could permanently disable your account.

Email header is present but I can no longer see any of the message.

The content of read emails sometimes disappear. The header is still present but when clicked there is no message in the email. When this happens it effect all existing read emails in the inbox. How do I restore these.

I shifted over to Outlook which I don't like!!!!
I I tried the above suggestion and only the shows the emails read okay on webmail so they are not corrupted. The original emails were okay when they first we downloaded. the latest 10 emails were all okay but all those prior to that the content had disappeared.
At present I have been Thunderbird and Outlook. Thunderbird is retaining the content apart from having one further incident on Thunderbird with a content has disappeared.
Very frustrating I don't like Outlook I want my Thunderbird back.

I do have a network connection, and can get logged into the itunes store. I have spent the past 45 minutes on the phone with Apple who had me check all of my permissions, and I have uninstalled/reinstalled itunes, but still the same thing.
Anyone have any ideas on this?

Since upgrading to Lion i can no longer see other computers in my network and vice versa. What has gone on?

As the title suggests! I can no longer see any of the computers in my network, Mac or otherwise.
I have checked sharing permissions on all required computers and all seems to be good and have disabled firewalls.
I notice a few people have had similar problems with screen sharing but I am not even seeing another station to pottentialy share a screen with!

CS4 can no longer see mts files

I can't be sure, but it seems that after an update today that started when I opened Premiere Pro CS4, my projects can no longer see any of the mts files , even in the media browser. It can see other types of files, just not mts. This IS a full version (NOT trial) of Premiere. All was working for the past week and a half since I first installed the Production Suite CS4. Now I get the red "Media Offline" screen on the source and program monitors. Media Browser cannot see any of the mts files. What has happened? How can this be fixed. The Adobe updater downloaded 9 updates when I opened Premiere, but the download seemed to hang. I chose to let it resume the update later when I hit cancel. When I rebooted and brought up Premiere, it finished the download and ran the install of the updates. Seems as though the update may have messed up my FULL VERSION status somehow. The important thing is that I can no longer see any mts files, and the rendered file also produces the red media offline screen.

Check your iPod's hard drive for errors. Open My Computer, right-click the drive, Click Properties, Tools, Check Now..., Select Options, Start.
Some of your missing files/folders may be restored although their names may be lost. 4gb is the max. file size on FAT32 so are we talking a 42gb folder rather than a single file?

After port forward, airport utility can no longer see my time capsule

I tried to forward public port 1025 to private port 80 on a raspberry pi using airport utility. But after I did that, the airport utility can no longer see my time capsule. Wifi still works correctly. Are there any conflicts about port 1025? How to fix that other than resetting the time capsule?

Since the most recent Firefox updates, I am having trouble with certain features on The New York Times website; I can no longer see certain weblog comments, or post comments, etc.

This question is admittedly a little complicated. The New York Times website has a number of weblog pages which include brief stories followed by space for readers to leave comments. Since the most recent Firefox updates, when I view these pages, which traditionally have a number of reader comments at the bottom of the Times' story (or at least a space to leave a comment), I can no longer see the comments. There's simply empty. blank space. I know that the comments are there; if I open Internet Explorer and log on to the same page, the comments are suddenly visible. I don't understand where this problem has come from. I haven't noticed whether I'm missing seeing anything on other websites yet.
I also cannot post comments on other parts of the Times website; while the pages dedicated to story-specific reader comment seem to load correctly and the space to type my comment does appear, I can't actually submit the comment. Repeated pressing of the "submit" icon has no effect. Once again, this works normally in IE.
For the record, in the past week, I have changed my computer's anti-virus software from McAfee to Norton 360. I run Windows XP. If there's any another information I can provide, please advise, as I vastly prefer running Firefox to IE.

If it happens again then try to reload the website or clear the cache and the cookies from that website.

What content are you wanting to copy of the iPad ? You should be able to copy off anything that you've purchased from Apple (films, music, ibooks, apps etc) by connecting the iPad to your computer's iTunes and doing File > Transfer Purchases. If you want to copy off music copied from your own CDs or purchased from other sites then you will need to find a program for your computer that can copy them off – iTunes won't copy them off.
For photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit or saved from emails/websites then you should be able to copy them off via the Windows camera wizard.
For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.
Content in third-party apps (documents and files etc) then how you copy that content off will depend upon what the apps that they are in support e.g.either via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc.

I can no longer see my pointer and pull down windows pop up on everything!!! HELP

I can no longer see my pointer and when I go to say "applications" a pop up or pull down menu open up...a tiny noe with words. Before a window with icons would open up and I liked that. Its also happening with the internet. instead of having apointer I see nothing and a pull down menu appears. I can't shoose anything because there is no pointer. What setting is this and how do I change it back? I want a normal pointer where I click on link and they open new links then I can type where I click too.

dunno....could be a gamble...you might have Simple Finder turned on, or accessibilty (for those with vision problems, etc). I think pressing Command+Shift+F8 (that's fn+f8 key) ought to turn it off. If you're really stuck
command+Shift+3 or command+Shift+4 will let you take a screenshot of your desktop which you might be able to post here. Also, check your views setting (Command+J key) which will let you display icons and stuff)

All of a sudden I cannot access the book module and clicking on the multiple view, spread view, or single view does not take me back to the book I have been working on. I can no longer see my book although I still see the collection with 418 photos under collections. What I do see is a blank template for a new book and I can't find the unfinished book I started with 418 photos. It is like the new empty template is somehow covering it up. How do I get back to the book I have been working on?

Is it possible you mistakenly clicked on a [Clear Layout] button?
But a great hint is- Always click on the [Create a Saved Book] button, early in your new book design.
Then you have a permanent link to the book in the Collections panel. (In addition to the standard collection of your selected images)
Note: a Book Collection shows an icon that looks like a book.
Every time you come back to edit the book, open the Book Module by clicking on the white arrow that appears on the end of your Book Collection title. (The title as saved)
Re-opening a book without using the "Saved Book" option can have unpredictable results.
A "Book" Collection is like a "Smart Collection" because anything you do to the book design, change pages, change images, etc, is automatically updated in the Saved Book collection.
