HT1386 sync ringtones

iPhone 4, Macbook Pro
when sync is performed, ringtones from iTunes do not appear in the general settings>sound menu of the phone. all sync settings are checked on the laptop, including tones.

Some things to confirm:
That they are really ringtones: right-click on the files in iTunes, select Get Info, on the Summary tab they must say Kind: Ringtone
That the ringtones are 40 seconds or less in length
That you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings
That you have checked the box next each of the ringtones that you want to sync to your phone
That you checked "Sync Tones" on the Tones tab of your iTunes sync settings

  • I bought my iphone 4 through ebay and its unlocked. the problem is that my phone does not sync straight away. I sync my music file through autofill. I want to sync ringtones but its not working

i bought my iphone 4 through ebay and its unlocked. the problem is that my phone does not sync straight away. I sync my music file through autofill. I want to sync ringtones but its not working.
I saw cidya aap so i m not sure if it was jailbroken or not before but it is back to normal settings.
My problem started when I tried to sync my music files. I pressed 'sync' all it says is waiting for sync start, preparing to sync and then waiting for the changes to be applied. but it does not sync at all.
I found a way to sync my music files through autofill but I really wanted to sync ringtones but its not syncing and I really wanted to put ringtones in my phone please help.

If you see the cidya app, your iPhone is hacked with the cutsie term for this being jailbroken. This also means all the built in security has been removed making the iPhone as insecure as an android device.
Restore the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup to get rid of that hacking garbage. If the iPhone has hacked to be unlocked, the iPhone will no longer be unlocked when doing so.

  • Cannot Select Both "Manually manage music" and "Sync ringtones" for iTunes

iTunes won't let me sync when both "manually manage music and videos" and "sync ringtones" is checked. If I choose "manage music and videos" first, add my music, then check "sync ringtones" all my music that I sync'd is deleted. The only way it worked for me was to sync the ringtones first without any music in the iPhone then checking "manually manage music and videos" afterwards but the problem is that once the "manual manage music and videos" is checked the "sync ringtones" isn't checked anymore so if I decide to add a ringtone later on I have to check "sync ringtone" causing my music to be deleted from the iPhone. This is a bad glitch Apple please fix it!

If you manually manage music, to get ringtones on your phone, you have to drag them to the "actual iphone icon" in the device pane window, on the left side in itunes.
    FYI:
Since the iphone DOES NOT support disk mode(like some ipods), there is no advantage to manually managing music, IMO.

  • Iphone does not sync ringtone with itunes

My iphone 4 does not sync ringtone with itunes. I created a new ringtone in itunes ( file.m4r) , tagged it and started syncing with my iphone, but the new ringtone does not show among the ringtones in my iphone

Now it works, don't know how, but iot works, since I changed into sync manually started a sync process unsuccessfully and get back to re-sync automatically.
Used sync all ring tones instead of sync selected ones, but I tried this before and it did not work.
Very strange, should have been this change, otherwise I really dont't know why it works now and not before

  • IPhone empties music library when syncing ringtones

I downloaded Apalon Pimp Your Sound -app for my iPhone 4S and did everything their Youtube video tutorial said to make and add ringtones to my phone. It adviced me to sync ringtones to iPhone using iTunes and iTunes only gave me one option: if I wanted to sync the ringtones to my iPhone it would wipe out all the existing music I had in my Phone. I did check the box so now I have the ringtones in my iPhone but no music (no worries, all the music is safe in my iTunes library) and have to transfer all the music back to the iPhone. Is there any way to add ringtones to iPhone without syncing and/or emptying the music library from the Phone?

  • Unable to sync ringtones or music to phone

My phone will sync all contacts and apps but when I try to sync ringtones or songs I get a message that says my phone is synced to another library. I have itunes authorized on 2 computers but I have never tried to sync to one of them. This problem started after getting my phone replaced under warranty and updating to ios4 and itunes 10.
    Any help would be appreciated.

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only regardless if more than one computer is authorized with the same iTunes account.
If this is the same computer you have been syncing your iPhone with for iTunes content, all iTunes content on your iPhone should be in your iTunes library on this computer. Your iPhone will be erased of all music first, but this should not prevent you from re-transferring your selected music from the iTunes library on this computer to your iPhone.

  • Why do I have to remove all music and videos to sync ringtones?

    Hi all,
When I check the "Sync Ringtones" checkbox under my iPhone, I get a message saying "Are you sure you want to sync ringtones? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone will be removed."
Whats the deal with that? Do I really have to remove all 16GB of music just to put a new ringtone on??
    Thanks

Inconvenient, yes, but it is one of the ways Apple keeps a lockdown on its Digital Rights Management. You can google and read, because Apple is in the forefront of the DRM wars right now -- but their iTunes system is pretty locked down. They really don't want you to just drag music from one place to another. They want it secured so you can't copy it for someone else and just distribute it. It means syncing back and forth.
An easier way to sync, though, is to just create a new Playlist called "IPhone Music". Drag to that folder any of the music or albums you want to sync. Then in the iTUnes music tab, only check the "IPhone Music" folder. Then disable the Manually Sync option.
Yup I get that, best way to be honest, I was just in a whiney mood before.
About the playlist, I'm doing exactly that. It's working fine, I now just need to source some good free ringtones.

  • Problem syncing ringtones

When I first set my phone up, I chose not to sync mail accounts and other information. Now I would like to sync my ringtones. However, when I click on the "sync ringtones" box in the Ringtones tab, I get a warning message:
Why? Why can't I just sync my ringtone without erasing my music and video?

its only happen if you are using different iTunes or laptop etc.. you sure u are using the same itunes that has all your movies and tv shows etc....

  • I would like to Sync ringtones that I created.

I would like to Sync ringtones that I created.
When I click on TONES on my Iphone on ITUNES and then SYNC TONES,
The word SYNC  at the bottom right changes to  REVERT and APPLY.
If I click on APPLY  a message comes up telling me that my phone is synced with another ITUNES library.
So I cancel out of that! If I unclick  SYNC TONES and then click on the SYNC
At the bottom right, the tones do not move from ITUNES to my phone.

Comcast does not support IMAP, only POP, thus there is no way to keep your mail in sync using a Comcast account. To do what you want requires an IMAP account, so either dump Comcast and get an IMAP account(like Gmail) or get a Gmail account, set that up as IMAP, then forward your Comcast mail to your Gmail account.

  • How can i sync ringtones to my iPhone?

How can I sync ringtones to my iphone?

Back up your old phone to iTunes.
Then, restore your new phone using the backup from your old phone.  It will take everything else with it, as well.

  • Why does syncing ringtones erase everything?

Every time I go to sync ringtones, I get a message that says syncing ringtones will remove all music, TV shows and movies from the iPhone. And it does. Is there any way to avoid this? And what's the rationale behind it? It makes no sense.

    Hi-
don't sync. go to itunes, plug in your phone, drag and drop the ringtones from itunes library - ringtones to
    devices-Iphone-ringtones
the iphone will then your ringtones are available!

  • No "sync ringtones" tab

I have just got an iphone 3g and desperately want to select my own ringtone. I have successfully created ringtone files, and they appear in the Ringtones section of my library in itunes. BUT I cannot drag and drop them onto my iphone. Nor do I have the Ringtones tab to sync between the two. I have checked ringtones in Preferences, but I still do not have the tab. I think maybe the latest version of itunes doesn't allow this....?
.....which still leaves me without any decent ringtones. I have looked at various apps to create ringtones, but will I face the same problem when I come to sync them?? How do I get around the no "sync ringtones" tab problem?
    Thank you

    For those of yous that have mac;
1.) pick the you song by highlighting it.
    2.) click file.
    3.) click get info.
    4.) click options tab.
5.) check start time and stop time and put in the numbers where you would like the song to start and stop.
    6.) click ok
7.) click advanced, on the very top of the tool bar.
    8.) click create AAC version.
9.) drag the new shortened part of the song to the desktop.
10.) then drag the new shortened part of the song from itunes to the trash can.
    11.) click remove.
    12.) click keep file.
13.) go to the icon on the desk top and at the end of the name where it says .m4a erase the a and put in a r.
14.) then move the mouse and click on a blank part of the screen.
    15.) click use .4mr
16.) it should then show up in your itunes.
17.) drag it to your iphone, on the side tool bar.
18.) then the ringtone tab should appear.
