HT1481 my ipod shuffle isnt turning on

Hi my ipod shuffle 2nd gen isnt responding to anything I do. The light will not come on even when charging. If anyone knows anything that could help it would be appresiated.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My IPOD SHUFFLE wont turn on , cant find it on my devices , it doesnt charge  PLEASE HELP! i love my ipod shuffle so much!

How long have you left it to charge?  It could take up to 30 minutes for the iPod to show any signs of life, and sometimes a hard reset of the iPod is still required to get it to boot up. Here are instructions for rebooting the iPod Shuffle.

  • My ipod Shuffle 4g turns on the button lock as soon i turn on my ipod!

Hello, I turned my Ipod Shuffle 4th gen on as Normal, but as soon I Turned it on, the button lock turns on automatically, and becomes unresponsive, I cant turn it off! I Can only somehow control my ipod with the remote on my headphones... is there a soulution?????

GOD i did pretty much the same think , idropped mine on a chair nd it dented on the lower volume button and at first there was this crack on the screen like a smurf punched the volume button nd left a crater. After i touched the crack a little bit freaking out, the whole screen went white with a small black spot( like the one on yours, but ALOT smaller) after a little while , like 10 min in my pocket, i could see the top of the screen normally(enough to see the time and date while its locked, but the spot is still there nd the rest of the screen is really white. i can make out things easier on the right side, but everything on the left is bright and distorted as if the loer part of the screen was cut in half nd the left side slid down.
But anyways i dont think we can fix this , ive tried pushing out the dent nd now my ipod just has seisures( the screen flashes like a strobe light as it goes from white and distorted to normal nd back)
Might just hav to pay the $99 for apple to replace/repair it

  • Ipod shuffle will turn on. then it turns back off and will not work. it charges but will not play any music?

My ipod shuffle will not work. it turns on briefly then turns off and i cannot hear anything. my earbuds work, it holds a charge, but no sound?

I would start by working through the 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.

What does the status light show you when this happens?

  • Ipod shuffle not turning on and not even charging now...

Okay I just went to turn on my Ipod shuffle (Second generation) and it won't turn on! I tryed charging it and the green light was on but wasn't blinking.. then after like 10 minutes it went off and now it won't even go on. It still won't turn on and it's not that old. I got it at Christmas. Some one help me please. >_<. And if any one feels like it and gets time could you dfo me the big favor of e-mailing me the answer at [email protected]? Thanks a lot everyone.

Okay.. Well.... I wrote above (Second Generation).
And the LED light has always blinked green when I've
put it into the charger. The only time Ipod shuffle
isn't suppsoed to blink is when inserted into a non
high speed USB port. I'm using the same USB port I've
been using. So I have no clue what's wrong. It was
raining yesterday and it may have gotten a little wet
but not more then a few drops and I don't think that
should be the prtoblem as others have washed theres
    by accident before.
Please tell me how the following description of status light behavior of the 1st Gen shuffle matches what you've said above:
from page 16 of the iPod shuffle User Guide:
To charge the iPod shuffle battery:
Remove the USB cap and connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer. The battery status light on the back of iPod shuffle turns on. The iPod shuffle battery is 80-percent charged in about two hours, and fully charged in about four hours.
When the battery is charging, the iPod shuffle status light is amber. When the battery is fully charged, the light is green until you disconnect iPod shuffle. If you don’t see the status light, try another USB port on your computer. Note:
If iPod shuffle is being used as a disk (see page 18), the status light blinks amber continuously.
Here's the 2nd Gen shuffle version:
When the battery is charging, the status light on iPod shuffle is orange. When the battery is fully charged, the status light turns green.
Note: If iPod shuffle is being used as a disk (see page 19) or if iTunes is loading songs or settings onto iPod shuffle, the status light blinks orange...

  • My Ipod shuffle isnt responding.....what do i do??

I have had my ipod shuffle for about a year. It can hold a charge when i plug it into my computer, when i go and take it out and turn it on it doesnt have the flashing the light. The Battery Status light does not show at all. I have refreshed it and it still doesnt work. I dont wish to go to The Apple store again as they do not give me a new one last time i was in there. Can anyone help me answer this confusing question.

Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup
    iOS: How to back up
Then restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    Hi Brittcal,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
I would recommend making sure you've run your Windows software updates, and then follow the steps to remove iTunes and reinstall the latest version.   Here are a few articles to help you with this.

  • IPod shuffle automatically turned off

I have the iPhone 5 with iOS 7 and in iTunes I have to manually turn on shuffle wether I unplug my head phones or a stereo device . It keeps turning shuffle off. I even have an old iPhone 4 which is where first noticed. There was an update at one point and it changed the iPod function from a black display to a white(in my opinion the black looked better) sense then this has been the result even in my new phone. Is there a way to have stay on until I turn it off. Any advice will be helpful. Thank you.

Tapping the now playing screen doesn't give me additional song controls - is there another way that access to these settings might be enabled/disabled? I've been wondering for a while why I haven't been able to see the time left on the song (playhead), and now see that none of those controls are available as it's currently configured. I'm using a 2nd gen touch as well.
    Thanks much.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen wont turn off

my ipod shuffle wont turn off! it is 2nd gen i think it is silver with clip on on the back. when i pause it it will pause but when i turn switch to off green light still flashing and will still play if press play button any ideas? or do i buy another one . it is about 9 months old.

thanks for your reply. in the end i took it to an apple service centre and coz it only 8months old got it replaced for free in two days, seeing as im in darwin i was quite impressed!!. i agree it is made cheap but i use it for the gym and no other portable music player is equipped with the clip on the back which is the most simple design feature and no-one is catching on. have seen the new one , which looks brilliant, if my replacement craps itself after its 1 year warranty then i will just get the new one. thanks again for the reply.

  • My iPod Shuffle 4g has no battery status voice over, either.  What could effect the d.click?

I have turned off the iPod Shuffle and turned on after 10sec.  I have opened the iPod summary page in iTunes and check and unchecked "voice over" and applied.  I have "restored" the ipod.  I am using Mac Lion 10.7.2 and iTunes 10 10.5.2.  I have read Phillip's answer to Zazuum.  WHAT am I looking for that would effect the double click?  I am encouraged that someone else has the problem and may have fixed it.  Now I at least know it's me and not the iPod. Sorry, Phillip, I need a little clearer direction.  Thank you.

  • HT1481 I plug in my ipod shuffle to my computer and it dosn't pop up in itunes and when i try to turn it on it dosn't come on either.  What do i do.

I synced my generation 2 ipod a few minutes ago then unplugged it and then plugged it back in.   When i did the light didn't come on to charge it and it didn't appear in the itunes.  I tried to update it but that didn't work either and I also held in the play/pause button but that didn't work. What can I do?

If you have not already, disconnect iPod shuffle and completely shut down (power off) your computer.  Also, use this procedure to reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Turn on computer.  Run iTunes.  Connect iPod shuffle.

  • My iPod shuffle will no longer turn on with switch.

My ipod shuffle 3rd generation, will no longer activate by the off on swotch.  I have to plus into electrical outlet to get it to turn on to select what I want to hear.  It no longer turns off after playing selection it continues to play until battery wears down.  Seems the switch is flat, and can't be raised to be activated.

My iPod shuffle will not turn on, nor is it recognized by the computer to pull up iTunes. I have order new USB cords and nothing. Please help! Not sure of the generation of iPod shuffle, I think 3rd.

first: why did you download the iOS Beta 8? If you are a developer, go to the Apple Developers website and check what they can do for your case.
second: setup an appointment to a Genius Bar for service.
