HT1491 How/where can I redownload past tones purchases to my iPhone? Trying to do it in iTunes but it wants me to pay for them again.
I lost my iPhone and had to purchase another. I was able to download all my past music purchases but have not been able to download the tones I've bought because iTunes keeps trying to charge me for them again. How can I do that without repaying for them?
Ringtones are currently a one-time only download from the store. Have you not got copies of them on your computer's iTunes and/or on a backup that you could sync to the phone ? If you are in the UK, and the film studio allows re-downloading, and you are signed in with the same account that you bought them with, then they might show under the Purchased link under Quinklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page for re-downloading - if they don't show then check to see if they are hidden (hiding and unhiding).
But you should be keeping and maintaining your own backup of your downloads and noy rely on being able to re-download any item as they are occasionally removed from the store by the content provider (film studio, tv company, record company etc). -

Most, but not all, content on the US iTunes Store is available to download again through iTunes in the Cloud (a couple notable exceptions seem to be TV Shows that don't have "seasons", such as The Daily Show, Colbert Report, etc.). If you bought them on your iPad then you will need to connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to the Tones part of your computer's iTunes library and you can then sync them to your iPhone - ringtones are a one-time only download, so you won't be able to redownload them directly on your phone.

This realy works??Where is the backup of the media and other important files from the computer? Ultimately, it is the users responsibility to ensure that backups exists. Waiting until there is a problem to decide to do a backup is not smart. Would you wait until a fire started in your home to call the insurance company and inquire about homeowners/renters insurance????
In the event that no backup exists (stop being lazy.... keep backups of YOUR data and other important files):
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, it is possible to redownload music via iCloud from purchased history.
If you are not in the US or for some reason cannot run iTunes 10.3 or later, contact iTunes customer support and ask very nicely for the opportunity to redownload the content. They are not required to provide this opportunity.
It is also possible to transfer content from an iDevice that was purchased via iTunes. On the new computer, sign into the iTunes account, authorize the computer, connect the device then select File > Transfer Purchases.
The simplest method of all is to transfer or copy the media (and other important files) from the old computer or the backup of the old computer. Typing "move itunes library" into the search bar here or into google will reveal step by step instructions on how to do this. -
I recently had my computer stolen and not my purchases from I tunes store were backed up. I've been told there is a way that I can re-download my missing tracks from the store without having to pay for them again. Is this true, if so, how do go about it.

I had to reset my phone and I only have one of my ringtones I had 4.. Why'd it delete 3 and not the last one and now I can't get em back without paying for them again!!! What the **** is up with that??
Yup, your question and Diane's answer helped me also. Tho' I had had problems before getting into the iTunes store I always managed to find a way. Today they had me blocked cold with the "Update to 10" advert no matter what I did. Other questioners are being told, incorrectly as it turns out, that they have to update their OS to accomodate iTunes 10 and upgrade to iTunes 10. I did the download which did not take up much more room on my crowded old hard drive and now I'm back in business.

I have an iPAD2 and an iPAD mini and tried to upgrade to IOS 7.0.6 but both froze and I had to restore to factory setting (backup also did not work!). I was able to get most of my purchased books and apps from iTUNES (through my computer) but lost all magazine subscriptions. iTUNES is asking me to pay for them again. Has anyone else had a similar problem and do you know how to restore the subscriptions without paying for them again?
Thank you!Thanks for the feedback. The applications were there but the magazines themselves could not be downloaded without paying... What I had to do was go in the application and find the "restore purchases" button. It was hidden within the account settings but it solved the problem!

I "updated" my ios software this morning and it forced me to reset my phone to the manufacturers settings. I would at least like to redownload the recent books I have purchased. Is there a way to do that without having to pay for them again??

My computer broke and I got it fixed. It doesn't say that the hard-drive was replaced, but I can tell my data is gone, including Pages that I bought. Is there any way of getting that without paying for it again?
Or if you purchased Pages as part of iWork on a disk, reinstall from the same disk.

Why I can not see past AppStore purchases in my IPhone 4S
After I go into my iphone 4s and I go to Appstore and check my purchased items non of my purchases show up.
When i click in appstoreI> updates> purchased it either starts loading or crash.
I can see my purchased items in my ipod 4G and my syster Iphone 4SIt will give you the list of what you have purchased, you then then go into the appstore and click search and re-download those apps for free if you are on the same apple id as before. If you cant download them, then you need to restart your phone by holding down the home button and the off button till the apple symbol comes up. If you still cant then you need to do a restore on your phone in itunes.

Thanks, I was hoping for something a little more selective that I could do from my computer, but I think this is helpful.
Maybe the best approach to get this under control is:
- Import all photos into iphoto
- Delete all photos per your suggestion
- Selectivly sync the photos you want put back on your phone

P.S. I still wouldn't mind finding a way to selectively delete files that are on my iphone from my computer. (In Windows, you can go to My Computer -> Iphone, open the folder and delete what you want).
