How to move iTunes from one user to another on the same Windows 7 computer? Thanks, Bob

Move the iTunes library to a shared area and then into the desired location. If this isn’t the default one, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and choose that library.

  • How to move songs from ipod to itunes library?

i recently rebooted my laptop and saved my current itunes library to my hard drive. i installed itunes after the reboot bu cannot get my old library back into itunes. is there also a way of sending the songs from my ipod to itunes?

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.

There is a new function in iTunes 7 under File, "Transfer Purchases from iPod" which transfers iTMS purchases. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.

  • ?how to move  songs from library in ext drive to new library on int drive

I am trying to set up an application called iBirdPod and am having problems because my large iTunes library is on an external drive. The developer suggests I move the bird songs I previously ripped to the ext drive to a new library on my internal drive.
I know I can create a second library by holding down the option key when I open iTunes.
The question is how to move the bird songs I have already ripped from the original library on the external drive to my new library on the internal drive and then delete them from the external drive? They will ultimately go on my iPod after they have been altered a bit by the iBirdPod application.
thanks for any help with this
    Caroline

I have been unable to get the birdPodmaker software to work (it makes some changes to the birdsongs previously ripped to the iTunes library to make them easier to use on an iPod) so the developer suggested the problem might lie in the fact that iTunes and the birdPodmaker softerware are on my iMac's internal drive, while the iTunes library is on an external drive (because the library is large and growing).
I know there are several options for having a second (or more ) ITunes library via iTunes itself, via Libera or via Doug Adams iTunes Library manager. I am just not sure what the best way is to move the actual bird songs themselves from my primary iTunes library on the external drive to a new one on the internal drive without either duplicating them or having to delete them from the external drive and then rerip them to the internal drive.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • How to move songs from mini to PC?

I have an iPod mini with songs that aren't on my PC. In iTunes, when I try to drag songs from the mini to a local playlist, iTunes doesn't allow it. Any suggestions?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • How to play songs from iPhone 3G in iTunes on the Computer

    Hello
Maybe my question is some bit silly but I am also more than perplex at this moment. For storage reasons all my iTunes song files (no purchased songs from iTunes store, but all CD imported) are stored on a server volume.
Syncing my iPhone 3G together on my PowerBook with iTunes works well but ... when I am on travel I would like to play (only to play, not to transfer!) the synced songs from my iPhone on my connected PowerBook on iTunes in order to stream the music to an Apple Airport Express Adapter. I can see the songs greyed out on my iPhone but I can not play them.
Is there something wrong in my iTunes configuration or does I have missed an important "concept"? Do I really need to carry with me my iPhone together with an external HD drive where all songs files are stored on it? In this "application" case the iPod functionality of my iPhone 3G would be really useless. I can belief that.
Thanks for any advice, best regards
    André

    Hello
Thank you for your response. I would like to play the songs on my iPhone on the very same computer, account and iTunes Library I synced my iPhone with. Although there is no play access to the songs on my iPhone from iTunes. I thought I could take them with me and play the songs on my iPhone to the very same computer I synced it with. It Seems not to work as concept? So I think I have to buy a "stupid" docking station to make it complicate.
    Thank you, André

  • How to move AE5 from one computer to another without the disc?

I am working for a company that installed Adobe After Effects 5 last year on one Imac machine and we need to move that program to another computer. I believe they downloaded the application. We have a serial number, but don't want to install it on the computer it was downloaded on. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

If the company purchased an electronic software download version of the product then you should be able to complete the following steps to download the software:
Go to the Adobe Store for your country and sign in with your Adobe ID and password.
Click My Orders and then My Order History.
Locate the order number, and click the Download link in the Downloads column.
Start the download by doing one of the following:
Click Download and follow the onscreen instructions.
Click Akamai Download Manager and follow the onscreen instructions.
Click Alternate Download Method, and then click the .7z and .exe files (Windows) or the .dmg file (Mac OS) to download the software to your computer.

  • How do I move songs from my iPod nano to my music library?

I have an iPOD Nano that preceeds my purchases of iPad and iPhone devices.  Some music on my Nano is not in my current music library, probably because older PC's have crashed and in the process, some of the songs never made the transition into my computer or newer devices.  I am trying to figure out how to move songs on my Nano into my music library to complete the set.  Help for the dummy, please!!!

You're not a "dummy," because you cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  iTunes syncing of content generally works in one direction, from computer to iPod.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the songs files are on your computer, you can add them to your iTunes library.
NOTE:  Songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store can also be re-downloaded at no cost from the iTunes Store Purchased screen.
