I set up my new air and now want to transfer my info from my macbook pro and I seem to have missed the boat and want to go back and do it . the computers are in different names with diff. passwords. Any idea?

If you set yp the Air before transfer, look in Users or Accounts pref pane to see if the other user is there to login to.

Definitely get other opinions on this. I last did this myself in 2010.
The most important thing, is to make sure you have an account (which I think you must have, or you probably couldn't have posted here).
As I recall, I downloaded ADE to my new computer, launched the software, authorized the new computer by supplying my login, and then just moved the 'My Digital Editions' folder to the new machine.
Be sure to de-authorize your old machine after you have done all of this, or over time you could end up exceeding your 'simultaneous devices'-limit for accessing your materials. I suspect that *from within the app itself, while it is still installed on your old machine* may be your only opportunity to do this. It is certainly the best/easiest.

First of all make sure that you've definitely backed up the movies to your external hard disc.
In iMovie click on any event you don't want, go to the file menu and select 'move event to trash'. Then do the same for any unwanted projects - 'move project to trash'. Quit out of iMovie and empty the trash.

You de-activate the software on the first machine. Then use the Installer DVD or downloaded installer file that you have archived for safe keeping on the second computer.

I purchased an audio book back in march or april. The store does not show it as purchased and I have been unable to transfer it from my old computer to my new laptop. I have followed all of the instructions for transferring for three different methods:

easy transfer
wireless transfer
via external hard drive

Here is how to do this:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Manual Setup
Click the Disks icon at the top of the AirPort Utility window
Click the Disks tab below the icons
Click Erase
The "Quick Erase" option will only take a moment or two
Now you can backup your MacBook Pro. If you connect an Ethernet cable from the MBP to one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC, the first backup will go 3-5 times faster than wireless.
Once you have the first backup done, you can use wireless for subsequent backups since they will only take a few minutes

The help instructions are clear about how you backup the prifile but if you copy the old file profile(C:\Documents and Settings\jgruetz\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles) into the new computer's C- Drive Firefox does not recognize the transferred file. In fact it hangs up and I had to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. The profile file name on the old computer is (sv0cbzeb.default) the file path on the new computer is (C:\Users\jgruetz\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\4w9161mx.default. I have tried everything I know to no avail. Help.

Copy the entire '''~\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\''' folder to the new PC. You need the '''profiles.ini''' file in addition to the \Profiles\ folder. The '''profiles.ini''' file is like the "gatekeeper" or "index" for the Profiles. If the exact Profile name isn't in that file, Firefox won't use that Profile - it doesn't "exist" as far as Firefox knows.

How can I transfer the application Keynote from my old computer to a new one and get rid of it on the old computer?

My MBP from 2008 is being retired by my university and they gave me a new MBP. They transferred everything from their image and all my iWork documents were transferred. However, since I added Keynote, Numbers, and Pages, they did not transfer. He said they cannot transfer them since they are not part of their image and active directory.
How can I get the iWork apps to my new computer and disengage them on the old computer without paying another $60?

If you installed them from a DVD, you need to install that DVD onto the new computer. If you got them from the Mac App Store, redownload them from there for free.
Having previously purchased an application on DVD or from the iTunes App Store does not allow a free download of it from the Mac App Store.

I completely understand what you are trying to say. Regardless of what YOU are saying are facts, its my device. YOU don't know what glitches, issues or age defined viruses may take place on my device. Anything is possible. YOU may think you're an expert but i'm positive that you haven't seen everything. On the other hand I full-heartedly appreciate your help in telling me I can never get my data back. Im sure you know a lot about apple and can help many others that need help (no sarcasm at all).
