HT1766 What do you do when you try to update your iPhone and it restores it. I did back it up multiple times b4 I tried to do this....help
ps new macbook owner who has NOT updated my phone and this is the very reason why because I was to scared to lose all of my information...sooo angry right now.
Where are the contacts synced to, a supported application on the computer or a cloud service? If for some reason you've failed to use the device as designed and relied solely on the iPhone backup for maintaining your contacts, restore from the most recent backup.

That means your phone was hacked to unlock it.
ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it.
It may no longer be possible to process a legitimate unlock on a phone that was hacked/jailbroken. The hack can do permanent damage.
You can find out who it was locked to and find out if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Don't be surprised if you are never able to use it again. It may be permanently bricked. -

Thank you for clarify I'm supposed to read the ENTIRE article. I thought I was just supposed to read the title and magically everything will fix itself. I appreciate you taking the time to help me however I do not appreciate the caps and the way you have addressed the situation. If you are not going to kindly help people/make suggestions just don't try! And for the record my conclusions are not illogical, the iOS7 thing is on the website in small font (which I got by reading the ENTIRE thing) and you should really find a new hobby because your socialization skills need some help! I've used the more like this.... they are all full of non answers and shots rather than being helpful unfortunately... does anyone have a real approach to resolving this issues for the dozens looking through the multiple threads for a a helpful response? I'm having an continued issue with my phone/ipad 2 and updating it.
I've tried (unsuccessfully) 7 or 8 times to update my iphone 4s with the latest update (iOS 6.1.2) but it gets 30 minutes in to the update and then an error message comes up (error 9006) and it gives me no option but to click ok and it.
I've tried using different USB cables, different ports in my laptop, even uninstalling I Tunes and reinstalling and starting again - nothing seems to work.
I've contacted my network provider who's referred me to Apple but they are closed (I'll try again during business hours).
I'm updating it on my laptop using an internet dongle (as i dont have WIFI - All updates have been done like this and i've never had a problem before) and I have windows 7 software..
Is there anyone who's encountered the same issue?

Do you get any specific error messages? Double-check the following:
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library you have checked all the songs you want to sync to your phone
There are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
You have authorized your computer for all Apple IDs for any purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize this computer)
You have checked "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings
When everything looks correct, sync your phone. -

Dear Friends:
When I try to update my iPhone 3Gs thru iTunes, to the latest OS I receive an error message that says: "The net conection has been without any response within the limit of time.Please see your net settings or try later". I checked my internet settings and all is OK (I have not any proxy connection). I tried lots of time to do this update since some weeks till now and I always have the same error message.
