i am looking for drivers online, but i don't want to install something that Apple may not approve of. I'm sure if there were such a driver, then Apple would have provided it; unless i have missed something.
when one makes the bootcamp driver disc in bootcamp on osx it builds a cd with apple tested drivers for the hardware for windows

I have a verizon iphone4s and I am trying to make it work with my t-mobile carrier.

Thanks for your time!When Verizon unlocks an iPhone 4S, they are, as Chris has already stated, only unlocking the GSM side of the phone for interntational use. The phones will not work on other GSM carriers in the U.S. I have no idea what you mean by the phone was "bought universal". If you had wanted an unlocked phone, you should have purchased one from Apple. The phone you have will not work on TMobile in the U.S. without resorting to things that are illegal such as the Gevey SIM.

Many thanks. To the best of my memory, that is how I got where I am today. Initially I had one failed setup, then discovered compatibility mode and ran using it. The result was not an obvious failure, but something was not there because not only were some drivers missing (wi-fi, trackpad, ...) but (much to my disappointment) the 3.1 update would not run. It complained that 3.0 wasn't there. If I hardwired to my home network, the machine would do almost everything I wanted, but the graphics were slow and clumsy. That is when I hunted around for the NVidia driver and downloaded it from NVidia. And that is where I stand now.

which has instructions claiming to do the install straight to Win 7 without using compatibility mode.
Given that my clumsy efforts to patch things up have probably necessitated a Win 7 deinstall and reinstall to test either your plan or the one my son found, I am inclined to sit tight for a couple of days to see how much I can learn.
I appreciate your interest in this problem, and if you are up for reading the process at the link my son found and commenting, I would be grateful.

I have an Ipad, I activated the time capsule with no issues. I added the airport Utility application without issue. However, I do not know how to access the hard drive with either my Windows computer or the Ipad. Does someone know how?
On windows load the airport utility .. latest correct version as possible.. there is no windows 8 but win7 works after a fashion.
Make sure the TC is using SMB compatible names.. short no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Type the name directly into windows explorer.
\\TCname or \\TCIPaddress
If no luck turn off all the firewalls.. internal windows plus security software plus whatever other gargyoles and other rubbish AV software you have running.
Ensure windows is able to at least ping the TC by IP address and name..
Use the utility in windows to set file sharing to guest account on with full read and write access.. and set workgroup to WORKGROUP. -
I have iTunes, latest version, open in Windows XP and get an error 45048 message when I try to update apps thru the store. How can I fix this? I have reinstalled iTunes twice but problem continues.
Try contacting iTunes via email to check if there is an issue with the account. go to apple.com/support/itunes
Click on iTunes Store account and billing and select inquiries. On the right side click on "email us".
Before doing that trying viewing your account information first. Open the iTunes on you mac, look at the menu and select store and select view my account. Try removing the card (this is only applicable if you don't have a pending charges with iTunes) and hit done. Sign out, quit iTunes and sign back in and try updating the apps again. -
I tried to install iTunes 10.6.1 for Windows (64 bit) and it says "A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall iTunes. (-42404). I have tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling and it still does not work. I then restored my computer to a week ago and tried to download and install the update and this came up again.

I’m unable to write/burn a CD-R (Verbatim) from a playlist after upgrading to iTunes 12.0.1.26. I get error 4000. I can however write/burn a CD from Windows Explorer and CDBurnerXP v4.5.4.5143 – which implies the device is working OK – and only fails when I write from iTunes. The drivers are up to date

Also, you mentioned that you have been successful burning a CD with the Windows OS. Make sure that you have closed all software programs that can access the CD burner so that there isn't a conflict for the drive. Sometimes chaning the burn speed from "maximum" to 8x can also help in this situation.

Hi, original poster here. I did not realize this would generate more discussion so I never checked back. I still had my warranty, so I took it to the store and got it repaired. The original problem I had was a screen with this icon flashing when I attempted to boot it up:
When I took it to the store, they told me that my computer was unable to communicate with the hard drive. I had this same problem three times in two months where this screen reappeared. Each time I went back to the store and they said the cause was different, but they were all hardware issues that physically made it impossible to communicate with the hard drive. After the third time, they simply replaced my laptop and I haven't had the same problem.
So in short: The reason you can't reinstall or move anything when you encounter this screen appears to be because nothing can communicate with the hard drive in the first place. You can't reach the disk or anything on it. So I don't believe it's possible to do anything besides take it to a physical store and have it fixed. -
Installed 8.0.1.11 for windows and lost space to "other"
I installed 8.0.1.11 for windows. iTunes then spent a few hours updating my library. When I synced (checked tunes, I don't do manual) my 80gb Classic (which was 100mb from full), about half of my music was removed and then it started to reload. Somewhere along the way my "other" went from being around 500mb to 13gb, and my music no longer all fits. I can't figure what the "other" is. My music/photo/etc capacity is down to around 61gb. I've downloaded and installed 8.0.2.20 but no change.
Can I reload an earlier version? Has this happened to anyone else? I have no video, no podcast subs, just music and a few pics.In normal usage, "Other" can be Album Artwork, Notes, Contacts, Firmware etc. or (and this doesn't apply to the iPod Touch or iPhone which don't have the option to enabled for disk use), files that are on there if you are using the iPod as a removable storage device.
If Other is being incorrectly reported then try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes -

Let's verify your issue. Did you want to disable USB storage device?
If yes, try this:
1. If you have not ever already done so, you must connect a USB storage device
to the computer now, and wait until Windows installs it and displays it in the Computer window with an assigned drive letter, then
disconnect it.
2. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type
regedit, and press Enter.
3. If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.
4. In Registry Editor, navigate to the location below:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\USBSTOR
5. In the right pane of USBSTOR, double click on Start to modify it.
6. Type in 4, click on OK.
7. Close Registry Editor windows.

You can do it either using Boot Camp or by running a virtual machine, such as Parallels Desktop (which I use) or VMFusion. I prefer the VM method, as I don't have to reboot using the handful of Windows applications that I use. And I can access my Windows apps just as I do my Mac apps - copy and paste between them, etc.
I just upgraded from Parallels 7 to 8 and I'm quite happy with it, running Mountain Lion on a late 2011 MBP with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. I also have a 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display and there are no problems with video drivers, etc.
If I were you - unless I needed every inch of performance that running Boot Camp can bring - I'd go with a VM to run Windows. I can attest to the functionality of Parallels - perhaps others with experience with other VMs will chime in.
