  • Completely remove all traces of Photoshop CS3 Extended

I have recently installed Photoshop CS3 Extended but there was a problem with the serial number on the box. Adobe have issued me a new serial number to use. I uninstalled it all but when i reinstalled it, the original serial number is still there. How do i completely remove all traces of Photoshop CS3 Extended from my computer so that i can reinstall it with my new serial number? This is a full retail version used on a Windows XP system. Many thanks.

don't forget to read the instructions! :)
on that page you'll find this note:
    >Start out at Level 2 and advance to Level 3 only if you still have issues installing your CS3 applications. Running this script removes shared components created during the installation of CS3 applications.
    >Note: Level 3 is a hidden option and thus is not listed in the main interface. To access Level 3 just type "3"( without quotes) when prompted for the level.

  • Completely remove all references to the old MacBook

Hello! I have a problem - after buying a new MacBook in a Safari remained tabs from the old MacBook, and iPhone attempts to synchronize with the old MacBook. Before the sale of the old MacBook I untied it from my Apple ID, and removed him to the icloud.com website under "Find iPhone", but he still stayed there in my devices on the same site ... • On my MacBook with Lion Safari does start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library did not help. Where can I find and remove all components (LastSession ...)?

How can I reset Safari with all components? On my MacBook with Lion, Safari does not start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library does not help. Where can I find and remove all components as LastSession and TopSites?

The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running v10.7 Lion is to restore OS X using OS X Recovery
Instead of restoring OS X in order to reinstall Safari, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If it's not an extension or plug-in issue, delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Access Denied   AcroIEHelper.dll  AcroPDF.dll  and pdfshell.dll

I have bits and pieces of earlier versions of Adobe Reader on my computer, so before I downloaded the latest version, version 9, I tried to remove the earlier versions. I had to do it manually and seem to have removed all the bits and pieces recommended in the tech notes but I CANNOT REMOVE AcroIEHelper.dll AcroPDF.dll and pdfshell.dll from Program files\common files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX I can see that other people have had this problem but there doesn't seem to be an obvious and foolproof way of doing it. (I tried the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility and nearly wrecked my computer - Word froze and disappeared altogether off my list of programs!)

Could not delete pdfshell.dll, but this worked (in Win XP):
    1. Close all programs.
    2. Open a command prompt window: Start > Run. Enter cmd.
    3. Open Task Mgr.
    4. Select explorer.exe and End Process. Yes to Warning. Desktop goes away.
    5. In the command prompt window (remember your DOS commands) and go to the directory and delete the file. Apparently this works because explorer.exe is not running.
    6. Restart Explorer: In the Task Mgr., File > New Task. Type explor.exe.

  • Can I completely remove all trace of updater?

Updater built into Reader (8&9), PSE and PRE cannot access the internet from my desktop machine, but can from my laptop. They both have the same installations from the same CD, and the same antivirus (Norton360). The firewall settings on both N360 and the Windows Internet security settings are identical on the two machines. This leads me to think there is something corrupt in my desktop. I have completely uninstalled all Adobe software removed folders (including Programmes/Common/adobe), cleaned the registry and done fresh installs, but still doesn't work. Support have been no use - they simply tell me to reinstall even though I have repeatedly told them I have and it doesn't work.
Does anyone know if there is a way to identify any other broken files that might be hiding away somewhere in my system. I have Win 7 64bit on both machines.

  • Second-hand MacBook - How to completely remove all traces of previous owner (inc. Apple ID) & start as clean as possible, while retaining factory software?

    Hey guys,
New to the forum and after a bit of advice.
Have just picked up my first MacBook from a friend and am wanting to start as clean/close to factory as possible, removing all traces of their Apple ID and Account info.
Have read a few posts and it seems that my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) came pre-installed with Snow Leopard (10.6.3/10.6.4).
In Linc Davis post here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5350317
he says that "If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the gray installation discs that came with it. If you don't have the discs, order replacements from Apple."
My friend is adamant that he received no software with the purchase from new. Everything came pre-loaded.
So I've downloaded OS X Mavericks and created a bootable USB installer. If I do a clean install using this method, will that remove all traces of the previous owner (Apple ID and account info), allowing me to start as clean as possible while still giving me access to the original pre-loaded software that came with the MacBook from new? Once installed, can I then just add my own Apple ID and perform any updates to this software as normal?
Since I don't think it shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, I will be unable to boot into Internet Recovery to try and restore if necessary, before upgrading to Mavericks.
Thanks for any help. Hopefully it's not as complicated as it sounds!

    Yes and Yes
OK, so I'd still have access to iPhoto etc., even though all purchases would still be linked with friends Apple ID?
I don't quite understand how this works..
If I do a clean install, and my new Apple ID has no history behind it, how does it know what software was paid for/pre-installed if that account is no longer tied to this computer?

  • How to Completely remove all traces of an applicat...

Please i own a nokia E5 and there is this application named '2go' (.jar app) its kinda like an IM client. When i install it to my phone memory, it works... but aways gets stuck at the part where it loads my friends. But when i install it to my memory card, it works great the first time i open it. Then after i'm done using it, i close it.. Also takes long to close, so i just use the Red button... And when i ty to open it the second time, i get an application error. Please help me on a way to totally remove all traces of this app on my phone and memory card. Thank you!

You should be able to remove it as you would other applications: highlight the icon and press Options -> Remove. Another way would be to find the program in Control Panel -> Application Manager -> Installed Apps and remove it from there. My understanding is that Symbian Platform Security is very good at removing all parts of a program, unlike Windows uninstalls, for example. If it won't uninstall, post the details of what happened.

  • Completely remove all LF from a file and output it with no LF or CRLF

My organization receives an XML file from an outside entity and we're getting <LF> (newline) characters in the middle of some records. Is there a way to remove all <LF> characters without inserting a <CRLF> after every line?
I tried using the following, but it puts in a <CRLF> after each line:
    Get-Content $inputfile| foreach-object {$_.replace("`n","")} | out-file $newfile -Encoding ascii
Essentially I want to end up with an XML file that is a continuous long line with no new lines or carriage returns.
    [email protected]

    Try this:
    $content = Get-Content $inputfile| foreach-object {$_.replace("`n","")}
    $content -join(" ")| out-file $newfile -Encoding ascii

  • Does Uninstalling MacKeeper completely removes all it harms and bugs it has on the mac???

Hello all, I just got my mac for a week and I downloaded the Mackeeper out of worries that my mac will get infected by virus.. I read about Mackeeper over and over again.. Sounds bad to me.. So I just wanna confirm that after uninstalling this programme my system will not get any harmed in any way, does it??? Well, I installed the Mackeeper for free and I just removed it without downloading the Zeobit uninstaller.. using the way that requires me to answer why i would like to uninstall mackeeper to uninstall it.. Do you think I'm saved? Thanks in Advanced

    Here you go-
MacKeeper – also known as ‘911 Bundle‘ in the App store — yes, you’ve seen the ads all over the internet, pop ups on your favourite webpages, it seems to be everywhere. It must be legit’. Right?
Wrong! Maybe you checked out the website – looks good…if you only give it a cursory glance. But dig a little deeper, and you’ll find some of those testimonials are phoney. Like the one that says Macupdate gave MacKeeper a 5-star rating, when in fact it got a 2-star rating and the comments are filled with one person after another complaining about this ‘anti-virus’ program.
OK, don’t feel bad if you fell for it, particularly if you’re new to Mac and don’t know that Macs don’t have virus issues like PCs. If you’ve downloaded MacKeeper you know already the problems it’s causing you, slowing down your machine and throwing up bizarre popups all the time. If you haven’t downloaded it, DON’T! And here’s another warning: don’t use the ‘uninstaller’ that they provide! It doesn’t actually clear out all of MacKeeper’s files, and it phishes for personal details before it lets you even run it. So how do you get rid of it? Here’s how:
**Update: If the procedure below looks complex, try downloading the simplified version with screenshots in my Easy Guide to Uninstalling MacKeeper pdf.
    Getting ready:
    You will need
    — to calm down! ( don’t be angry with yourself or your Mac!)
    — a sharp eye   ( don’t be trashing the wrong files…)
    — a copy of EasyFind (free tool available from Devon Technologies).
Once EasyFind is installed and running, you need to consider your backups first.
    Time Machine
    i. If you use Time Machine, leave it connected and do the Time Machine Step (TM step) where indicated. Instructions for the TM step are given in the box in step 1 below.
    Clones
ii. If you use a clone without archiving, disconnect the clone and run the procedure below on your internal disk. When it is complete and you have verified everything is OK, connect your clone and wipe the partition using Disk Utility. Then make a new clone.
iii. If you use a clone with archiving, reboot into your clone now and run the procedure below on the clone first. Then shutdown you computer, disconnect the clone from the system and reboot into your internal drive. Run the entire procedure again on your internal drive.
    Encryption
If you have used MacKeeper to encrypt any data, unencrypt it now. If you remove MacKeeper without unencrypting your data first, you will not be able to access it later. This only applies to data encrypted with MacKeeper, and not data encrypted using Mac OS built-in encryption services or using any other program.
If you have anything in the Trash, empty it now before you start.
    The Uninstall Procedure:
Once you have prepared everything as above, you’re ready to start the uninstall procedure.
    1. If MacKeeper is running, quit it. From the sidebar in any Finder window, choose your hard disk icon and go to your Library folder. Look in the Application Support folder for the folder inside it called ‘MacKeeper’ (/Library/Application Support/MacKeeper). Click on the folder once.
    TM Step
If you are using Time Machine do the TM Step now.
Enter Time Machine via the TM icon on your menubar at the top of your screen.
Click the little gear/cog in the Finder window and choose ‘delete all backups of xxx file’.
Enter your Admin password to confirm the delete. Exit Time Machine and then…
If you don’t use TM or after you have completed the TM step, hold down the ‘command’ key and press the ‘delete’ key once to send the file to the trash.
    2. Still in Library, look for and trash any of these you find in the same way, remembering if you have Time Machine to do the TM step first in each case:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.AntiVirus
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.plugin.AntiTheft.daemon
    /Library/Logs/MacKeeper.log
    3. If you are using Lion, use the ‘Go’ menu in Finder’s menubar and hold down the ‘option’ key. Choose ‘Library’ from the menu (yes, this is a different Library folder from the one you were just in). If you are using Snow Leopard or Leopard, just click on the little ‘Home‘ icon in the Finder sidebar and navigate to the Library. Then trash any and all of these that you find, remembering to do the TM step (if applicable) first in each case:
    Home/Library/Caches/com.zeobit.MacKeeper
    Home/Library/Caches/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper
    Home/Library/LaunchAgents/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper
    Home/Library/LaunchAgents/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.plugin.Backup.agent
    Home/Library/Logs/MacKeeper.log
    Home/Library/Preferences/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.plist
    Home/Library/Preferences/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper.plist
    Home/Library/Receipts/com.zeobit.MacKeeper.bom
Be careful not to delete the wrong files: only those that have got the words ‘zeobit’, ‘MacKeeper’, ’911′ or ’911bundle’ should be trashed.
Now switch to the EasyFind.app you downloaded at the beginning. Set it up like this:
In the ‘Volumes’ drop-down menu on the right, choose the volume that you are currently booted into (that will be your internal hard disk icon unless you are cleaning an external clone). In the search box, try each of these in turn: ‘zeobit’, ‘mackeeper’, ’911 bundle’. For anything that you find, hold down the ‘control’ key and click once on the entry in EasyFind’s window. From the menu, choose ‘Reveal in Finder’. Delete the folder from Finder, remembering to do the TM step first in each case if you are using Time Machine.
    4. Go to Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access.app and double click on it. Notice the padlock in the window is up there on the left, rather than down the bottom. Click on it and enter your admin password. Now go through all the items in the ‘Keychains‘ list (such as Login, System, Root) with ‘All items’ selected in the ‘Category’ list. Anything you find related to ‘MacKeeper’ or ‘zeobit’, click on it, then choose Edit > Delete from the menu.
(Thanks to Al for also mentioning this point in the Comments below!   ).
    5. Open the Activity Monitor utility (Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor.app), make sure ‘All Processes’ is showing in the drop down menu just over on the right of the dialogue box, then scroll down the list and see if any processes called ‘MacKeeper’ (or ‘zeobit’) are still running. Try the same search terms you used in EasyFind in the filter search bar in Activity Monitor window. Older versions of MacKeeper may have a ‘WINE’ process running, so also look for ‘wine’. Anything you find, click on it and hit ‘Quit Process’ (top left).
    6. Go to your Applications folder from a Finder window and select MacKeeper (if you have Time Machine, do the TM step now). Then, hold down ‘command’ and press ‘delete’ once. If you assigned MacKeeper to be pinned in the Dock, be sure to also drag the icon off the Dock and release it anywhere over the desktop. It will, satisfyingly, disappear in the ‘poof’ of a cloud.
    7. When you’re done filling up your trash can with all this junk, click on the Finder> Secure Empty Trash...
    8. Restart your Mac. Everything should be back to normal, but check the Activity Monitor one last time to be sure.
    9. After restart, be sure to fix your system permissions. If you encounter any problems that you did not have before, fix the ACLs too.
**If you are running a clone, remember to follow the instructions given above under “Getting ready”.**
    10. If you have a problem with MacKeeper pop-ups while using your browser, try clearing out the caches, like this:
In Safari menubar, choose ‘Safari > Reset Safari’. Make sure all the options are checked.
This will not only clear out your caches, but everything else stored by the browser. Don’t worry, it won’t affect your bookmarks, but it will reset your ‘top sites’ and history.
In Firefox menubar, choose ‘Tools > Clear Recent History…’ and choose ‘Everything’. Again, it’ll clear everything out but won’t delete your bookmarks.
Obviously, if you use any other browsers like Opera or something you’ll have to find the same options for those too.
    Good luck and goodbye MacKeeper!
    NOTES
    1. If you have any problems carrying out the steps, try starting your Mac up in Safe mode, and then running the procedure.
    2. If you have only downloaded the MacKeeper package but not ran the installer, you only need to send the .pkg file in your Downloads folder to the Trash. That’s it!

  • How to completely remove all traces of MSI driver?

After waiting for 4 weeks to see if the MSI 6800 Ultra was going to be available, I have given up.  I have removed my GeForce 5900 128M VTD and installed my new 6800GT, but I cannot remove the MSI Information and MSI Clock tabs from the Display Properties window.  I have already tried DriverCleaner, but the MSI tabs still remain.
Does anyone know how to remove them, short of a full system reformat and re-install?

Actually, that needs to be updated, it was written prior to the DOT implementation.
The files below are the ones that need to be deleted.
You can go directly to a command line (or use the run command)
    del \windows\msicpl.dll /s/f
    del \windows\msicpl.sys /s/f
    del \windows\winsys.exe /s/f (DOT Controller)
The /s and c:\ parts tell the del command to scan subdirectories (starting at the root of drive C) and delete--or try to delete-- files of a given name or type, wherever they might be on the hard drive.  The /f switch attempts to force deletion of read-only files.
Also...did you remove the drivers via the "Add Remove Programs" applet in the "Control Panel?" It should have removed them..
If you did, I need to know if the uninstall is working correctly. If not, then this the second or third time I've seen this but have yet to determine if the user ran the uninstallation as I have described. I have not had this particular problem with the DOT to the best of my recollection. I may need to forward this to my contact to see if they can duplicate the issue.

  • How do I completely remove all of firefox and give it a clean install?

Every time I go to yahoo.com one of the plugins I have installed crashes firefox. I can't quite figure out which one it is, I deactivate them or run FF in safe mode and it still crashes. I've uninstalled FF and reinstalled with the newest version and all the plugins and bookmarks carry over so I can't get a clean install. I was able to install an older version of FF and it worked fine. So short of running old unsafe software or trolling through my registry and potentially messing more things up, I am at a loss.

Anything that is involved with LSP (i.e. links itself in the network connection) is suspicious.

  • HT201065 Is it possible to completely remove ALL data when wiping??

Is ALL data completely wiped and irretrievable from my old mac once this process is done? I have heard of others illegally retrieving data from old discarded hard drives previous owners had 'wiped' clear.

When you erase a drive, you can do it fast/non-secure or slow/secure. Choose the "secure" method and specify 1, 3 or 7-pass option. For large disk drives this can take a VERY VERY LONG TIME. But if you want to be safe, what's a day or two.
The multiple-pass secure options writes different bit-patterns to the drive, before it finally erases it with all zeros, which leaves nothing for anyone to recover later on.
If you choose the unsecure method (the default) it only initializes the information that says how many files are on the drive and where to start writing when new files are created. The actual part of the disk that had your old data is not even touched, so with the right kind of software that information is able to be recovered to varying degrees of success.
The 3-pass secure erase method is what the DOD (Department of Defense) recommends for erasure of drives.
See this for a lot more information about securely erasing disks:

  • Deleting mail account does not completely remove all of its data from iPhone

    Hi
I'm using iPhone 5S, iOS 8.1.3. I used a number of email accounts on the built-in Mail app and recently deleted one Gmail account. I thought that all its data will be removed from the iPhone, however, when I used the Spotlight Search, I found that the iPhone still retains some of the account's draft email. So I tried to add back the account to the Mail then delete it once again, but the draft email is still there, although these draft emails no longer exist in the actual Gmail account. I tried resending them but only ended up with sent mail that also refuses to get deleted (still found them on Spotlight) after deleting the Gmail account. Is there any way to remove these useless mail to free up space?

    This indicates corrupt files.
    A restore should resolve.

I've been trying to find out for hours where these **** files are hiding. I've just tried to install Logic 9 with all the additional content when my installer failed at the last moment and left everything strewn uselessly around my system. I've deleted all the files I can find associated with logic.
I have deleted all these files, except ones in red I can not find (because this is from a guide in 2009 and I'm running mountain lion so the extentions are different), though I am still missing 30 odd gigs of space on my harddrive, where is all this audio content hiding???
