If I wanted to include apple loops in the assets of Logic project folders that are part of a song that follows a tutorial available for download on a paid educational website would that be ok? No one would be paying for the file itself that's part of the membership. I don't want to get into any copyright problems. I understand that they are royalty free and you can include them in your music no problem but the individual loops would be in the audio folder if I saved all the assets to the project file.
Also, would it be ok to include screen shots I take myself of apple programs in my downloadable content?
Just trying to figure out exactly how I should go about it to avoid any legal issues.

My gut reaction is that you may well run into © issues if you re-distribute the original AppleLoops.If your customers are paying for the training, they are also paying for the content you provide, so I feel that you would be re-selling the loops.
Given that anyone who has a copy of Logic would likely have installed all the loop content, there should be no need to distribute them with the project files. Alternatively, make your own loops.

Converted apple loops won't add to logic.
I think others have had the same problem but I just spent hours converting wavs to apple loops and in the end, more than half of them won't even show up in logic. The ones that do show up in the logic loop pane are not "looping" either even though I selected the "looping" tag in ALU. I tried rebuilding the DB with no luck and adding the folder again with no luck. I can't believe managing loops is this hard in logic. Apple needs to take a not from ableton on loop management for sure.
Does anyone know how to get the apple loops utility to actually work right?
Thanks all!It's not really a solution, more of a workaround, but I've had some luck doing this;
Since ALU just changes the data on the file, and rebuilding the database seems to only affect original, included Apple Loops (which is horse crap, btw) I decided to change their info with ALU, then import them like any other file into a Logic project.
When I do it that way, after I have added them to the bin, they are searchable in the loops browser. It seems that converting them to Apple Loops using the standalone ALU does not necessarily make them searchable by Logic's internal loop browser. But, if you add them to project's bin manually or create them in the arrange window (which also adds them to the bin) then they become searchable.
I'm not sure why, it just has worked for me. It's still really inconvenient for converting large loop libraries for searching and sequencing in Logic though. No improvement on that from L8 to L9 either. -
I can't find converted apple loops in the loop browser within Logic pro 7

I've cereated some apple loops with the apple loops utility. unfortunately I am unable to find them in the loop browser within Logic pro 7.2.1.
I've scaned them using the project manager " so Logic knows about them"
but still didn't reflect in the loop browser.
Is this the normal behavior or what am I doing wrong.
I hope I am doing something wrong, as to me the main feature of the loop browser is to be able to audition the loops quckly at the song tempo.

Cloud accounts are multi-platform.
You have a maximum of two activations but can use them on Win/Win or Mac/Mac or Win/Mac. The choice is yours. -
I have upgraded my software to OS X Snow Leopard. Now I want to update that to Lion. How do I do that? When I look at the Lion software available for download on the apple site it all seems to be update software for people already a version of Lion.

Go to the View menu -> Show Statusbar if it available, and then make sure the bottom of your screen is visible. When you hover over a link, if it says: mailto: it will open in your default e-mail reading application set by your browser or your e-mail program preferences.
Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Software Update lets you change how often you see the software update window.

Logic will not let me edit Apple Loops in the Audio Window. Any ideas?
When I select a blue apple loop and put it in an audio track it works perfectly but when I go to the audio window it will not let me edit the Apple Loop. A window pops up and says "The requested action can not be performed because the edited file is an Apple Loop." In the manual it says that both green and blue Apple loops can be edited but every time I try to edit an Apple Loop that window pops up. It only does this for apple loops. What can I do.
Hi there, this is because you cannot edit apple loops, other than cutting blue loops witht he scissors. If you want to edit/alter loops bounce them down to audio files, then you can do pretty much anything..

Creating Apple loops within the arrange window
I have tried this before and had the same result again and again.
I have a stereo recording of a drum kit at 120 bpm which I have chopped to a 2 bar cycle and want to turn it into an apple loop. to fit it into the song I am working on which is at 100 bpm.
I select "add to apple loops library" from the Region drop down menu in the arrange window. the apple loops genre selection window opens which adds it to the apple loops browser. easy!
But when I drop the loop back into the arrange window onto an Audio track within the same song which is 100bpm, it stays at the original tempo and doesn't snap to the bar. but still loops stretches and does what an apple loop should do but at the wrong tempo. what is that all about?with an extra note to my comment above
if you've dropped the loop from the apple loop browser to the arrange window you then have to open it again in apple loop utility to sort it out by selecting "open in apple utility" from the Audio drop down menu on the arrange window which gives you a chance to edit it properly and now I have a decent loop. but then I have to save it again in the initial menu "add to apple loops" which I have to reclassify it again I thought it'd be a good idea to actually get rid of the first menu choice "add to apple loops" window and just have a window within logic which uses the same engine as apple loops utility and uses the same audio channel (the Last enabled channel in the Environment to Audition the loop because now when Apple loop utility opens the core Audio gets confused and comes out of my comuter speaker and then after a few cycles comes out of the Interface. I think there are too many "menu this", "loop utility that's" going on in logic. I do hope Logic 8 is going to trim away all the excess Lard which Logic has gained since mac took it off Emagic. -
Play Apple Loops "in the mix" is slow / unusable

I used Apple Loops for quite a while now within my projects. In the earlier versions it was possible to listen to apple loops while playing in the mix and switching the the next loop was allmost in realtime.
*PROBLEM NOW* : while the sequencer is not running, i can prelisten all the apple loops and switch beetween them in realtime, while the sequencer is playing, the loops take up to 4 bars until they play / change.
Anyone else ? Played allready with the latency settings and buffer size and so on.
Any advice would be welcome.

Apple Loops and the Loop Browser
maybe I'm missing something here, but whenever I save an edited audio file (or loop) with Apple Loops I can never seem to find the same file in the Loop Browser.
(unless that is how the app is suppose to behave ...)
I assumed the Loop Browser behaves somewhat like Logic's Project Manager, referencing and finding files that are associated with Logic Sessions.
Long story shot, how can i save my edited Apple Loop files and still find them using the Loop Browser

Apple loops not getting saved with current projects tempo
I can't seem to make an apple loop that would get saved with the current projects tempo....i recorded a single bar midi drum loop with 130 as project tempo but when i save it as an apple loop it gets saved with a tempo of 92bpm. strange thing is when i drag the same loop back on a instrument track it plays at the current tempo i.e., at 130bpm but if i drag it to an audio track it plays at 92bpm... really stuck here....any help would be greatly appreciated..thanx..
ok now i have got half of the problem solved....i had left the "follow tempo" region parameter ticked....so now when i unticked it the loop follows the project tempo....but i dont understand y does the loops get saved with a tempo of 92 whereas the project tempo is 130bpm....moreover when i audition these loops they don't really LOOP while playin back....

Specifics are: Currently living in the U.S. and will be studying abroad for a semester this fall in London.
