HT201210 Is there a way to get my contact list, music, pictures, messages, ect. back after FORCED restore?

Is there a way to get my contact list, music, pictures, messages, ect. back after a FORCED Restore?  After upgrading to the ios 6.0 my phone went into what I later learned was "Recovery Mode" I didn't have option to save info before restoring phone.

Did you not back it up before installing a major firmware upgrade?
Did you back it up EVER?
You can't get back what you didn't back up.

Hopefully you moved the entire iTunes Media (or iTunes Music) folder to a new path on your external drive. Copy your iTunes library folder out to the root of the external drive, e.g. X:\iTunes (where X: is your external drive), then move the media folder inside it. Hold down shift as you start iTUnes and keep holding untila asked to choose or create a library. Choose the library at X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. Should all be good.
Failing that, download and run my FindTracks script and point it at the new location of your media folder.

  • 2 iPhones 1 computer – Is there any way to have separate contact list

My wife and I recently purchased 2 iPhones (One for each of us). We are presently sharing an iBook G4. Is there any way to have separate contact list and separate calendars on the computer? We both use our phones for our individual work, and have different contact. I am trying to move us from pc to mac. I have a newer pc (compared to the G4) that I can hook the phones up too, but as I said I am trying to move away from PC's. We purchased the G4 used from a friend to get started and learn mac. Sorry for the long explanation I just wanted you to know that I am new to mac.

Just set-up 2 user accounts on the computer, then you effectively have 2 computers in one. All your phone data, and everything else (internet bookmarks, desktop preferences, application preferences) etc. are completely separate.
You and your wife can then use the computer in exactly the way you both prefer without affecting the other.
You didn't say what version of Mac OS X you are using, so here are the instructions for:
    10.4.x: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh168.html
    10.5.x: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
You can then use *Fast User Switching* to switch between the accounts:

  • HT4356 Is there a way to print a contact list from an iPhone?

Is there a way to print a contact list from an iPhone?

Another way to do this is to use Contact Sheet (https://itunes.apple.com/app/id894488957?mt=8) which can print your contacts and pictures or it can export them into an Excel file.  You can print all of your contacts or just a select group that you choose.  You can even share contacts and only include the fields you want, so, for example, if you want to share email addresses with a new mom's group but you don't want to share home addresses, you can create a contact share file (VCF) that only includes the names and email addresses of the members of your new mom's group!

  • Is ther a way to get a ringtone from music

is there a way to get a ringtone from your music. Also can u pair music to contacts?

    To make ringtones:

And yes, you can assign ringtones to contacts. See the manual for instructions.

  • I deleted one of my email accounts. Is there a way to get the contacts back?

I had to remove one of my work email accounts. It also removed all of the contacts. Is there a way to retrieve those contacts from the iCloud?

Your exchange contacts are entirely separate from iCloud so there isn't a way to restore them from iCloud.  You would have had to copy the contacts to iCloud prior to removing them from your phone in order for them to be in your iCloud account.

  • Is there a way to send the contact list from my flip phone to the Verizon Messages app on my tablet?

I have a Convoy flip phone. I recently installed the Verizon Messages app on my iPad Air, since it's a pain in the neck to type texts on the phone. With the app on my tablet, I can easily send (and receive) texts. But is there a way to sync or send the contact list (phone book) from my flip phone to the Verizon Messages app on my tablet? Thanks.

    Hi daniel1948,
Thanks for using our forums! While there are ways to get contacts from your phone onto your tablet, the Convoy series of phones is not capable of syncing directly with the Verizon Messages service. It is capable of using the Backup Assistant service. You'll find this option under Contacts in the menu. Once you have backed up the contacts, you can use your online My Verizon account to export contacts to either a Google or iCloud account, which would allow you to access them from your iPad at a later time via sync. Here's a link with some useful information on how to use the Backup Assistant service.

  • How do I get iTunes songs which were downloaded from external back-up drive to play on new computer and is there a way to get my play lists back?

When I try to play a song from my re-installed iTunes library, I get the error message:  "Song xxx could not be played because original file could not be found.  Would you like to locate it?" > "Locate" or "Cancel."  When I click on "Locate" I can't figure out how to get the song to play from any of the places that were "located."  The path is C:\users\Janet\libraries\music\iTunes
However, iTunes songs chosen from my library will play in iTunes (current version) when I have the external back-up drive plugged in!  I recently copied my backed-up iTunes library from my external back-up drive to a new computer.
Most of the songs, but not all, magically appear in Windows Media Player and I can play those just fine.
I can see my iTunes library in the newest version of iTunes, recently downloaded to new computer, but can't play songs without connecting to the external back-up drive - so maybe there is something else on that external drive that needs to be on my C: drive?
I am using an HP Pavillion Notebook, Windows 7, 64-bit.  My previous computer was Windows Vista.  Before Vista, I had XP.
Back when I had XP, I wanted to purchase some songs to download to my computer. Because iTunes had the ability, I used it to create a massive library of songs, most of which were ripped from my CDs.  I don't have an iPod and iTunes worked fine for creating playlists and then burning them to CDs.
Also, I'd like to know if there is a way to get back my playlists.
And another thing - in the older version of iTunes, there was a folder in the lists on the left-hand side of the screen where I could click to see all the songs I had purchased.  I'd like to get that ability back if possible.
In hindsight, iTunes was probably not the best choice for me to build my music library in a Windows operating system, but it seemed to be the best choice at the time.  I really wish I could convert all the songs to mp3 format.
I have been working with computers since the days of DOS, black and white screens, and no mice.  The first computer I bought for my own use at home was a Mac and it had "Flying Toasters" as a screensaver.  (I miss that screensaver.)  It did not have a tower and I believe they called it a laptop, even though the thing was as big as a suitcase and probably weighed around 30 pounds.  However, I am by no means a computer expert.  In other words, pretend you're trying to tell your mother how to do what I am asking. =)
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places.  I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file.  There must be something else that's missing.  My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive.  If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess.  I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={  Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period.  I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive.  Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me).  As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

  • Is there ANY WAY to get my files (mainly music) off of my ipod?

My 3rd generation Ipod touch went into recovery mode, and it says I must restore it in order to use Itunes. The thing is, my laptop broke before I had a chance to back up any of the files. My question is, is there any possible way to get the files (mainly my music) off of it? thanks!
The sooner the answers, the better!

There are third-apps that allow to get to your iPod content but I doubt they will work if your device is in recovery mode.  This cannot being cover here as it is not considered legit to take music out of an iOS device.
The question should rather be is there any possible way to get your files off your broken laptop.  If it wasn't related to its HD, you should be able to recover your files this way.

  • My babysitter synced her iphone 4s on my computer and i didnt notice until i synced mine now all my contacts are deleted from my computer.  is there any way to get my contacts back on my phone? like a way to restore from before she synced her phone?HELP!!

HELP!! my babysitter synced her iphone 4s with my computer and i didnt notice she deleted all my contacts when she did this. so when i synced mine it deleted all the contacts on my phone! is there any way to restore from before the sync? HELP!!!

if you see the option to restore in itunes, click it.  Your phone will give you the option to restore as new, or restore from backup.

The above article walks you through it, and has pictures. As for your contacts, if you had them saved to Outlook (windows contacts?) you can follow this other article for getting them back. I know it says ipod, but it will work the same.

  • Is there any way to get both libraries of music onto my iPhone?

I have two computers, and one has the majority of my music on it, and the other has a little. When I first got my iPhone 4S, I connected it to the one with less music on it, and synced all the music I wanted. Now, I'm trying to add the rest of my library to my iPhone from this computer (the one with more music on it), but I can't manually add music without wiping the music from the other computer. Is there any way for me to get both libraries onto my iPhone without having to go without one of the libraries? Can I combine them somehow, or can I wipe the music off of it now, add the larger library, then go back and somehow add the other one (this already sounds like it won't work)?
    Thanks!

You need to combine the libraries on one computer. Otherwise you'll be constantly erasing your iTunes content as you switch computers. iPhone will only sync or manually manage iTunes content with ONE computer at a time.

  • Is there any way to import a contact list into the mototalk app

I have the new Mototalk app and I need to import about 350 push to talk contacts into the mototalk contacts. Is there any way that it can be done from a cvs or database file

Moto is ducking the issue and misguiding you, not surprising now that Moto is owned by Google. Apple cannot help you with Motorola's own app.
Moto's information says only that "MOTOTALK automatically imports your contacts to the app" but I can't find anything that says where these contacts will be obtained. If it's not picking up the contacts from your iPhone's Contacts, then I can't guess what they mean. I doubt very much that you'll be able to load contacts from a Mac, but I can't say with certainty.
    Regards.

  • Is there a way to prevent everyone seeing replies to picture messages sent to multiple people?

When I send a picture message to multiple people at once, all the iPhone users I send the message to receive everyone else's replies, no matter what my message settings are. The Droid and Blackberry users I send it to don't receive them. Is there a way to prevent this from happening, other than not sending pics to multiple people at once?

You can provide feedback to Apple to let them know of any feature improvements you would like to see on the iPhone. Doesn't mean they will provide them, but you never know. Use this link to send the feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • My external hard drive quit on me. Is there a way to get my content(pics, music and videos) back onto my computer- This is the pc and iTunes that I currently use with this iPod Classic 160gig. I don't want to lose all my info. please help. Thanks.

All my content is still on my iPod classic but my external HDD quit and is not accessible. I am wondering if I can put some of my content onto my PC(my iPod has more storage than my PC  hahaha pretty bad)  This is the PC  I used with iTunes with so I don't think licensing is an issue- But can I upload back to my PC without iTunes wiping clean my iPod because there is no more content on PC/HDD?  I know I may need to send my HDD away to to a Data Recovery Specialist. But if I can save a couple hundred bucks to couple thousand bucks I would prefer this method... mostly worried about photos- can't download these again. Next time I will buy a second back up.

You'll need to get yourself a new drive big enough to hold all the data you are going to recover and then reading the tip B-rock has pointed you to. Read it carefully, it should guide you through the steps to recover as much as possible. You are wise to be worried, just plugging in the iPod and clicking sync isn't good enough but it should be possible to recover to most if not all of it.
