so i figred out how to fix the issue. for windows users hit the alt key so the menu appears. the click file and hover over devices. then hit transfer purchuses to device or from device.

In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

Notes, at least in my experience, go into the notes part of my outlook. I sync my calendar and notes to the outlook on my computer.
You would set that up under the 'info' part of iTunes. You'll see the option when you have your iPad connected to your computer.

In using it, I found out other's have had this issue and it likely means you have a 3G iPad? If you do, go into settings and turn off cellular data, then try to update again and you should be OK........

If you purchased it on your ipad, then you would have to transfer it to your computer. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
You can then listen to it on your computer.
