I had my iPhone 5c stolen this Tuesday afternoon while I was at the beach. Immediately after I noticed it missing I called the phone and it was off. I called the phone continuously later that night but it remained off. I did not use the Find my iPhone app until the following morning, however.
The phone has said offline for 2 days now. I'm wondering...is it reasonable to assume that eventually the phone will get turned back on and I will get a location? Or do thieves have ways around this? I filed a police report but the police seem to be pretty disinterested in helping me recover my phone. I literally got this thing on Monday and had it stolen Tuesday the next day. I was so excited about my new phone so I realize now I was texting like a little girl out there and probably was an easy target. Never bringing anything of value to the beach again, thats for sure.

Today 12/28/13, I brought my iPhone 5 into an apple store to get a battery replacement and had to delete everything on my iphone. I backed up my iphone a few nights before and made sure that everything was saved onto my computer. When I came home after the battery replacement, I went to restore my phone from the previous backup 12/24/13, but instead, iTunes backed up my 12/28/13 phone with all of the erased content and wouldn't show the back up I actually wanted, the 12/24/13. I tried going into device preferences and that didn't show the backup I wanted either. When I searched through the backup folder in my computers system (windows 7), I went into Mobilesync, backup, and found the backup folder I actually want back onto my itunes and dragged it onto my desktop.
Now my question is, how do I move this folder back onto my itunes? This is the only backup I want back.

Have you jailbroken this device? This will make the iPhone not talk to the Software Update Server (that signs and accepts software updates) please refer to the following link? Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

I'm going to make some guesses here. You bought your phone second hand. In other words, not from Apple and not from your carrier. What you got is a hacked phone that was originally carrier locked, most likely to AT&T in the US. You are NOT in the US. (If I get any of this wrong, please tell me).
What has happened is when you updated the software, it was re-locked to the original carrier. ONLY the carrier can authorize an unlock. If it is locked to AT&T, you're out of luck as they WILL NOT unlock an iPhone for any reason.
If it's locked to another carrier, you will have to find out what carrier that is (you can NOT tell by looking at the model number) and find out if they unlock iPhones. If you can't find out, or if they do not, then your only real option is to sell the phone and purchase one from a LEGITIMATE source.
