HT201302 i have thousands of pictures in my iPad that iPhoto does not see when the iPad is connected to my computer. Any idea how to import them to my iMac?

Any idea how to import?

So you're trying to use your iPad as the way to bring photos from your old iMac to your new iMac?
Why not bring them to your new iMac from your old one, using Migration Assistant or similar?
The software probably expects you to have done that, and that's why you only received a selective group of photos from your iPad (only those associated with email).
