HT201342 @icloud email setup notification - When?

I still haven't received my @icloud email account setup notification.  Have others been notified, and is there a way to prod apple to get this done before the open ended "few weeks" advertised to get this done?  Its been 4 weeks since IOs6 was released.  I wouldn't care other than I am trying to dump my existing email account and want to use my @icloud account.

I haven't heard of anyone having recieved the notification email. However, some people (including me) have found their @icloud.com address is working for both incoming and outgoing email despite not having been notified.
Try yours.

  • ICloud email setup bugs

I have seen two symtopms for what appear to be the same core bug with iCloud email setup. Possibly related to having a legacy .mac/.me account
When I attempt to setup an iCloud account it won't allow email to be enabled, throwing the error:
Mail can't be enabled at this time.
Wait a momnet and then try turning on Mail again.
I can sort of work around this by going into Mail and then adding the email account diretly from Mail Preferences. However any attempt to change the settings for this account also results in an error:
    Invalid Incomming Mail Server
The "Incomming Mail Server' field can not be empty.
There is no work around for this. The filed is auto populated based on being an iCloud account and is not editable. I believe that the first bug may be related to this this, that proper configuraiton of iCould email is just broken.
Hopefully there will be a fix soon, but for the time being you can at least get at your .mac/.me/iCloud email by adding the accout directly in Mail app. Unfortunatly you can't make any changes to the settings, such as storage options etc.

BTW I am already signed with my apple id and all else is switched on and syncing fine. The probles only occurs when I try and "turn on" mail.

I have not been able to sync my mail with iCloud on my MacBookPro (Lion OS).  Everything else has been syncing fine for the past two months, but when I go to System Pref/iCloud/and try to check Mail, it asks me to choose an iCloud email address. When I put in my regular @me.com email, it says that address already exists (of course it does - it's mine!) and wants me to choose another one.  But I want it to sync with my stuff.  What can I do?  I haven't been able to find help anywhere online...  Thanks!

You should have signed in with that address in the first place, but there is a workaround: go to System preferences>Mail, Contacts@ Calendars and add your @me.com address as an account there.

  • HT201342 icloud email address password

An icloud email address was setup for me when I got an iphone but I don't know what to use as the password. How do you change the password?

    Hi WallyTunes,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The following article will explain how to change your iCloud (Apple ID) account password:
    iCloud: Change your iCloud password
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2617
Important:   If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud as you do with other Apple services such as the Apple Online Store, iTunes Store, Mac App Store, or to purchase products in iPhoto or Aperture, changing your iCloud password also changes your password for these services. Make sure you sign in to those locations using your new password.
    Cheers,

  • Email Alert/Notification when client status changes?

    Hi,
Does ARD allow for email alerts or notification when a client goes offline or in sleep mode?
Also, does ARD monitor the ON/OFF status of a screen attached to a remote computer?
    Thanks,
    LMB1980

Something like Dejal Simon might work for you. I don't know of any way for a Mac to detect whether the monitor is turned off or not, though.

  • HT201342 icloud email address in use by another person

Hello, what do I do if Apple has assigned my icloud email address, after I have setup mine,  to another person as well. So that I am in effect getting their Facebook messages to my icloud account

It may be then that your dhcp server has your MBP's MAC address associated with an IP address with long lease time.
I would suggest you flush the dhcp table on your router.

  • HT201342 iCloud email

    hello..
i changed my email address for my apple id .. and the icloud is still with the last email ..
how can i change it to the new one ? and keep all my data to the new email address ??
BTW in the icloud prefrence in my mac .. there is no button or edit "change" my icloud email address .. theres is just signout !! and i afraid ti lose my data

To change the iCloud ID ("email") on your iOS device you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
To change the ID on your Mac, sign out, then sign back in with the changed ID.  If you only changed your ID and didn't create an entirely new ID, you can choose Delete at all of the prompts when you sign out.  This only deletes the data from your Mac, not from iCloud.  Your data will download back to your Mac when you sign back in.

  • ICloud/email setup in Yosemite

I have several "parked" email addresses (i.e. myname.co.uk)  that I have been using for years (successfully) as my outward face for gmail and iCloud accounts. I manage my URLs/email addresses with a web interface and web/email gets redirected to my iCloud accounts and webspace. It has worked flawlessly for 10 years with the various iterations of Apple mail.
However - after years of this working - the process I use has stopped working  and Mail no longer lets me send when I select my PARKED addresses. Can any one help me?
This is how it used to work.....
In older system versions, i used to be able to use iCloud / .Me / .Mac accounts in mail, send from them by my identity comes up with my real name and parked address.
In earlier systems, the way I did this was to put several emails with commas in the "email address" line - and they could appear as choices when I created new emails.....
When I created a new email - to sent via iCloud (or predecessors) but had my name and chosen email address in the header for  the person  receiving the email.
Now.... this set-up part still works! Except with iCloud accounts - you now get a drop down in Mail Preferences that lets you opt for:
Custom / [email protected] / Edit email aliases
In this scenario, I use "Custom", add the email addresses separated by commas - and it still gives me them all as options when i start a new email.
When I write an email i get the choice of accounts as before
However the email won't send via iCloud (although I can still make it work via gMail) unless I change it back to an iCloud address.
Any thoughts about how I can send email with my own address (i.e. not an iCloud email displaying) but using the iCloud services as the "back end"?
    Any thoughts
    R

    Hi Abbas,
In order to correctly send and receive e-mails from Business One,
the following settings need to be set or checked:
    - Define the users correct e-mail address
    - Start the SBO Mailer Service
    - 'Schedule' a time interval of every 2 seconds in Service Manager
    - Define the SMTP address in Service Manager 'settings'
    - Set the 'connection' to the Server Name or IP address of the server
to where you want to connect.
    - Select the 'Database' in Service Manager.
    - Try to Add Receipient in SAP Business One and send the email.
Please also refer to SAP note 782611 & 693306 for more information.

  • IPad 2 keeps crashing for new icloud email setup

My iPad 2 16g.. At first it was safari if I scrolled on a website for a little bit. Now it's my icloud email set up.
I went to create a new icloud email, it got me to almost the full set up and then it randomly just closed. I did it again and I had to start from the very beginning.
I have reset my iPad a couple of times. I have deleted apps I'm not using, I have a total of 3 movies and 2 CDs. That's all. I have deleted most of my pictures so that I have more memory. I can't figure out how to delete all the iMessages that it says are saved. I delete them in the iMessage app. No matter how low I bring my memory down it still crashes. It has done it in a few apps that I downloaded. I really need a new email!! I don't have a. Computer so I can't ever back anything up, but I don't really use this for anything that important besides games and information apps, oh and movies.
Any help and advice would be very appreciated

Standard troubleshooting steps in order are as follows:
Power your iPad off and on.
An iPad reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release. This is similar to a computer restart.
Restore your iPad with iTunes from your iPad's backup.
Restore your iPad with iTunes as a new iPad or not from the backup.
If no change after the last step, your iPad has a hardware problem. The iPad includes a one year warranty.

  • HT201342 iCloud email seems to be working but darned if I can find a way to delete the old emails off it ... can you help please?

Have iCloud email set on ipad and PC but cannot delete and old emails received through icloud.
How do you delete old emails ... I just get a line through them but they never delete.     Thanks

Spoke to my provider and advised that the email I have with them is a POP3 account, incoming mail is POP but outgoing mail is SMPT so have 2 servers and it seems like the Icloud will only recognize a single server.
iCloud does nothing for external email accounts provided by another company.
Only your @icloud.com (or @me.com or @mac.com) email address provided by Apple has anything to do with iCloud.
Issues related to non-iCloud email accounts should be directed to the company providing the email account.

  • Icloud email setup and login

How can I tell if I have already set up an icloud email account @icloud.com, I believet that I did and I do not want to set up a second?

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
    Good luck.

  • HT201342 iCloud email on Outlook

I can't send icloud email by following "Set up iCloud mail on your devices" , on both MS Outlook 2007 and 2010. I can receive, but... What's wrong?

smtp.mail.me.com should work but someone reported he was able to get it to work using p99-smtp.mail.me.com - I've no idea whether it might work for you. The 'p' numbers are added to the server addresses by Apple and seem to be on a geographical basis (so that you don't get the whole world using the same server). Normally you shouldn't have to add them yourself, and this well may not be the right number anyway, but you could give it a try. No promises.

  • ICloud email update notifications despite not selected

I'm sharing my calendar with my wife via our iCloud accounts.  Two days ago every event I put in my calendar she not only sees in iCal but now gets an email notification.
There is an option in iCloud.com->Calendar to "notify me by email if calendar changes" but we both have this selected as "no".
We are both getting emails from our iCloud accounts about updates.
Is there anyway to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

as far as i understand iCal it is on the "receivers/subscribers" side to deal with email-updates (and not on the "senders/changers" side):
snippet from my Re: How do you stop receiving notifications about updated calendar events? (there is a screenshot as well):
to NOT get email notification about updated events from a shared calendar you subscribed to you have to uncheck "events affect availability" in that calendars "info" (mac os X.7 and X.8: iCal —> calendars dropdown —> right click on the subscribed calendar —> choose "get info" from the context-menu —> uncheck "events affect availability")

  • Why does my icloud email not change when i update my appleID? and how can I change it??..so frustrating

I updated my email because I changed my name, and now i cant sign into icloud and it still wants the password for my old email. any ideas?

Also, it's important to follow the steps in Change your Apple ID  when changing your ID. You're supposed to sign out of all of your accounts then change the name of the Apple ID then sign in using the email address. Because find my iPhone is a thief's worst nightmare the password will only be accepted for iCloud if the account is still called that current name. So if you changed the name of the account without changing the Apple iD you'll need to change the name back (on Appleid.apple.com) then sign out in Settings>iCloud, then change the name back using the desired email (on applied.apple.com) then sign in using the preferred email in Settings>iCloud.
    Cheers
