Thank you for the question. AirPlay will only show in Control Center when there is a AirPlay capable device in range on the same Wi-Fi network. If both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and I see your iOS device is updated, try the troubleshooting steps in the article below.

I have two iPads . One is ipad 3 with ios 6, can not find airplay-Mirror to Apple TV 3 . But it can do it at my friend' s Apple TV.
My another ipad 2 with ios7 can airplay -mirror at my Apple TV 3 .
My ipad 3 64GB already full, so I don't delegate something to upgrade to ios7 .
I am wondering why it can do it at my friend's Apple TV, not mine

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.

What are you trying to AirPlay to? The AirPlay icon only appears if you have an AirPlay receiver ready to accept the media from the iPod.
Also, see the following. The 2G not hot have iOS 4.3 or higher.
From the Videos, iPod, Photos, Music, and YouTube apps on iOS devices, stream videos, music, and photos to an Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation), or stream music to an AirPort Express or compatible third-party device.

Yes. You can use iTunes 11.
As noted, you need 10.7.5 to use iCloud though.

That never helps and that's the response I keep seeing. I just don't have the airplay icons anywhere. I had them when the os updated then the next day gone. My modems updated and nothing changed there anyway it's definitely something else. Before the 7.0.2 update everything was there. Now when I connect the ipad to my tv (not apple tv) it won't work anymore. I have to disable mirroring and I have no airplay at all, it's just gone. I'd just hack this thing if I could to disable mirroring, I don't want to use airplay at all even if it was there. I am mostly on my PC, and I just use netflix to connect with hdmi to watch netflix now and then. Of course now can't watch it, can't disable mirroring, can't find airplay.

Yes, you can. Just don't set a password when you enable AirPlay on ATV.

??? You know you can't use it without a password, and yet you never used a password before? One of these two statements must be at least a little off.
You just need to enter what ever password, if any you entered when you enabled AirPlay.

You need to connect to iTunes on a computer to update. Direct updates were enabled with IOS 5. I hope you were maintaining a backup of your computer. If you attempt to sync with a new one without transferring content first then all will be erased.
You also need to update the Apple tv to version 5.0.2 (4.4 being the minimum for mirroring support)

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

Air Play needs a way to get the content over to your TV (It's a WiFi streaming audio/video protocol that's built into iOS, to oversimplify things a bit). Typically, you would purchase an Apple TV (http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipod/family/apple_tv?mco=MTM3NTM1Nzk) and stream the content from your computer, iPhone, iPad, etc. to the TV. AirPlay can also be used to stream audio to compatible audio systems or an Airport Express with audio out that is linked to a stereo system or speakers.
