HT201401 My iPhone drops contacts or contacts names after saving them in the phone. How do I fix this?

Everytime I save a contact into my iPhone, 30 min later its no longer there. Or it does not display the name in my recent call log, just the number. Also, When I look in my contacts some of them have doubled or trippled. One day I had over 700 contacts in my phone when I only have 225 stored in there. So tired of this. What to do?

I'm fairly certain this is expected behavior if you have a CDMA carrier like Verizon or Sprint. The phone cannot handle being on a call and using data to receive messages or email.
Someone else may be able to further clarify.
