HT201412 My response time on games is slow. Frustrating. Since upload of new Ios6

Response time on games is very slow. Zynga games. My other iPad does not have this problem

This is not something to worry about or be concerned with. Firstly, the paging counts will depend on how long the system has been running since the last boot, but MacOS is designed to actively page out and in, so in itself, the fact your system shows it is doing so means nothing at all.
If your computer is exhibiting some indication of a problem, I suggest you start a new thread here and describe what you are experiencing. That way we can help you directly with the specifics of your problem. On the other hand, if you have just seen the comments regarding paging and system performance and have checked your own Mac to see what it's doing - the answer is that in the absence of an indication of a problem, it's very likely doing exactly what it ought to be doing!

  • After IOS 8 update, the screen is jerky and the response time is really, really slow... Using a PC to submit this!

Is there a solution to a jerky screen and a slow response time after updating to IOS 8?

    Try some basic troubleshooting:
    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (C) Setup as new (data will be lost)

  • Time machine backups have slowed considerably since my installation of Mavericks -- why?

Ever since installation of Mavericks, time machine backups have slowed to a crawl.  The message preparing backup used to to take 10 seconds to a minute, now it takes 5 minutes.  The status of the backup used to show 10mb's of 80 mb's backed up, and take under 1 minute, now it takes 5 minutes.  Finally cleaning up notice, and the time to clean up has increased significantly.  My backups go to an external HD (7200rpm) connected vis firewire 800, that has approx 180 gigabytes available of its 1 terrabybyte capacity.

I upgraded to Mountain Lion a few weeks ago. Everything was fine with Time Machine until a few of days ago.
Same problem others described: extremely slow, taking hours to back up just a few MB.
I verified the Time Capsule drive and my Mac hard drive - no problems found.
I then erased the Time Capsule and started Time Machine. It did the full backup in a fairly reasonable amount of time (several hours, but not unexpectedly long).
When it started its first incremental backup, it reverted to the same problem: extremely slow, but it did finish eventually.
I then shut down the Mac and restarted (power cycled) the Time Capsule. Then I started up the Mac and told Time Machine to back up now. It backed up 30+ MB in just a few minutes, so it seems back to normal. We'll see how it goes when the next scheduled backup starts up.
But you might try rebooting the Time Capsule (and your Mac).
By the way, when it was in the middle of the extremely slow backup, I disabled Norton Anti-virus and it didn't seem to speed it up any. But I left it disabled after I rebooted the Time Capsule and had a successful incremental backup, so I'm not sure yet if Norton is a factor.

  • Apple TV very slow download since updating to new OS/UI

I've had Apple TV since version v1 and am currently on v2.
Whenever renting a movie the downloads are always ready to watch with 30-60 secs. It's been this way for years. Same router, same connection, nothing has changed with the exception of the ATV device. But both worked fine.
But since updating my Apple TV v2 OS 3 weeks ago to the new (awful) UI, download rentals have been taking up to 3 hours and can't be watched for at least 2hours.
    What's happened?
I have checked download speeds and all is fine. ATV is connected in the same way via the same router. The only thing that has changed is the new update.
    Any ideas guys?

The download time is ridiculous! I've rented a few HD movies and purchased a couple HD TV episodes, none of which I can watch until the next day. After reading the forums, I see that this is a common problem. Has anyone found a fix for this?
common for people with suspected ISP throttling.
whenever i've rented an HD movie it was ready to watch within 60 seconds.
Do HD rentals include the iTunes extras? Because the movies I've rented that said" including iTunes extras" don't seem to have them, unless I'm not looking in the right place.
selected movies have itunes extras (not all).
don't think the rentals do though, only purchased movies have the extras.

  • Slow response time with terminal emulator

We are using Oracle Financials pkg. 10.7 Character mode using Oracle DB 7.3.3 on a IBM (sequent) S5000 running at DYNIX/ptx 4.2.3 (soon to be 4.2.4). On the end user side, the accounting dept. is connecting to the server using EXTRA Personal Client. During the course of the day, the response time of the emulator slows down. I can count to 25 sometimes b/4 the emulator responds (catches up with the key strokes). Some days it does not happen until the end of the work day and other times it can happen after just a few hours. After checking the network, application and server, we can find nothing wrong. If we have the user reboot their p.c., this seems to clear up the problem. Has anyone else seen or heard of this problem??? If so, does anyone know how to correct it??? We have installed and tried a different emulator that seems to be doing the samething, but only not as bad (slow).
    Thanks,

Never heard of this problem or this emulator product.
Oracle did/does have their own emulator that sort of similuates a GUI environment.
It is called OADM (Oracle Display Manager).
If you call support, they may be able to send it to you. However, it's no longer supported, and is a little buggy. But it has no performance problems.
If it straight character feel the users need, Kea TERM works 4 me.
Or, possibly call the your emulators support line.. it could be a known issue with their product..
Most likely it has nothing to do with Oracle products.

  • Variable response times

Like many I get variable speeds and occasional drop outs, but the question is slightly different so hopefully you will bear with me if I seem to be asking something already answered.
My nominal speed is 2.3 Mbits, though it can drop to around 1.0 Mbits.  The problem however is how long sites can take to respond, how slow the page is written to the screen and how variable that can be even with the same site. This is worse (or certainly appears to be) at mid-term and after 4.00 p.m. so I tend to blame school children getting home and going on line! If I check the speed when sites are loading very slowly, more often than not the speed is around 2.0 Mbits, yet at other times sites respond quickly yet the speed is slower. Downloads also vary - start off at 2 or 3Mbits and then drop to almost to the old dial up speeds. Other times they download very (for me) fast.
I believe the contention ratio is to blame, partly because of the school related issue, and partly because switching off the modem for a few minutes can sometimes help, as if I am picking up a less busy "box" at the exchange. Sometimes it solves itself if I try again later so I doubt if it is the modem to blame.
The question is therefore - am I right and if so, is there anything I can do, or if I am wrong can my modem (Netgear DGN 3500) be to blame.
    Thanks.

    Sorry - been away.
Yes, I had just done a manual reset. I have checked again now that it has been on for a few days. Speed not much different and web page response times are still very slow. The bt.com page for example took about 3 seconds to load and did so in noticable stages.
I have tried two different machines connected via short cable to modem which is connectd to master socket with nothing plugged into any other socket in the house. Not much difference noted. Reminds me of the situation when I was working - sometimes the LAN was very slow because too many people were using it. I suspect the exchange basically can't cope with the load, butthat opinion may well be due to ignorance on my part!

  • ERP screen response time

One of our clients is accessing his ERP system through a satellite WAN. Could somebody please let me know the ideal respose time for an ERP screen accessed by a satellite at a bandwidth of 512 kbps for one user?

I don't think it has specific value for the response time, but it is slow definitely.

  • Response time of the new 24-inch iMac Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz display??

Apple is not famous for documenting the response time of it's diplays, An exception is the new Apple LED Cinema Display (24" flat panel) which they list as 14ms.
Does anybody know the response time of the new 24-inch iMac Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz display??

Very nice, I've always wanted a bigger iMac and
wondered why they didn't make one. I'm on a G5
20inch now and it works 100% perfectly. BUt the 24
    incher is very compelling!
Myself, never felt the need for a bigger one, the 20-inch is perfect for what I want it to do. Perhaps in the future...
It's pretty obvious why a 24-inch was not offered sooner, as the retail price would have been too expensive to create enough demand to justify production.

  • Slow Response Time on iPhone 3G

On or about r4.0 coming out I started experiencing significant Response Time delays moving between key's on my iPhone and not sure why. I believe this to be a Processor issue... anybody else out there experiencing this issue.
    Example:
Select Setting icon on Home Screen... reasonable response time of 1-sec
Select General icon tab... 3-4 sec delay in response
Select another tab on General screen... another 3-4 sec delay before new screen appears.
Hit Home button to close General window... 3-4 sec delay...
Select Messaging icon... goes to white screen and 3-4 sec delay before messaging dialogue screen comes up
Keep in mind that there aren't any other app's running in the background that causes response time delays
The response time delays occur, regardless whether I am on Edge, Wi-fi or 3G.. I do not believe this to be a Networking issue...
Also, I only have 3- menu screens with maybe 23 app icons showing... most of which are iPhone apps like iTunes, Messaging, Settings, Mail, Safari, Stocks, weather, camera, contacts, calendar, pix, Maps, no games!!
I have done master reboot on phone... Network Reset... & Restore...
on rare occasions I will resume a 1-1.5 sec response time between my selections, otherwise, returning to 3-4 sec delays.
Coincidently, around the time this issue occurred, I had upgraded iTunes to 9.2 but doubt this created issues...I eventually downloaded r4.0 thinking a bug fix may have been included... but issue continued...
    Any feedback? Thx

Well, to all those queing in on my question-observation... let me provide you an update.
True to form, APPLE provided me great support and Customer Satisfaction.
I did my due diligence and called into Apple Care and an app't was made for me at the Genius Bar the next day.
They assessed my situation and despite informing me it was the nature of the beast (3G), they happily exchanged my 3G out for a new 3G and guess what... with no app's sync'd to it as yet, right out of the box, not r4.0 the response time was the same.
Bottom line is 3G processor's are slow... especially compared against the 3GS and iP4... and loading r4.0 didn't impact it. With my contract expiring in a few days I bit the bullet and have a new iP4 and now enjoy almost instantaneous response to my key selections, etc.... oh, and no dropped calls due to antenna.

  • Will the problems I am having with slow Safari response times continue if I port the image of my 4 to an new iphone 5?

As in many families, I am ready to upgrade my iphone 4 to a 5 and pass on my 4 to my partner (who has my old 3), BUT I am resistant to do so because I have been having problems with Safari, (very slow response time) ever since I upgraded to the new OS a month or so back. I have completed all the cleaning tips (cookies, individual app shut downs) and hard boot steps with no change. I can sit my partners Iphone 3 next to my 4 and when using Safari it beats it hands down, almost doubling the time it takes on the 3. My 4 is quicker on all the other apps so I don't believe it is a hardware issue. My tests were done using our home wi fi set up the same on both phones after running all the cleaning tips on both.
I actually broke down and called the support line and the first level support told me if I upgraded to the 5 I would likely carry the problem to the new phone. She said she suspected malware or a virus and that for $300 she could forward me to second level support that could scan my phone and see what the problem is on my 4 and support any issues on a new iphone 5 OR for a one time lower fee $79, just help me fix my 4.
Thinking through her options, I chose none of the above. Seems like I should be able to either 1) isolate the issue myself with the help of this forum or 2) upgrade to the iphone 5 and if the problem follows to the new one, get the support via the new device warranty. If the support person is correct and the problem is in the software and would follow the device, then in theroy I could wipe and restore my old 4 with the back up/data of my partners 3 and the problem on the 4 should be resolved.
I really don't want to carry the problem to a new phone if I can fix the issue first. I have airwatch software to push my work email to my phone and that is usually a pain to do when I upgrade anyhow. I don't need to pay for a new phone that has the same problem as my old one. I will get grief from my partner for passing on an issue that will come up with the daily use of the old iphone 4 that I will be responsible to fix anyhow. I have invested too much time already to generate problems on both our phones. Thanks in advance for any tips or guideance about a streamlined way forward.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?
FYI, there are no viruses that affect iOS unless the device has been hacked or jailbroken, in which case they cannot be discussed here.

  • Response time too slow when there is competition in the same connector PCo

Dear all, I'm having a problem with using PCo 2.1.
I created all the conections in PCo with OSIsoft PI and when I create a TagQuery
on MII to get the values of a tag is not occur problem in response time.
But when I have another TagQuery or Transaction, which is collecting data at the same
time, sharing the same connector, the time response is very slow.
Using the UDS this problem does not happen.
So problem is that when there is competition in the same connector, the response time is extremely slow.
    Has anyone experienced this?
    Regards!

    Hi Udayan,
    Thanks again for attention,
I found this problem on the two MII versions, 12.0 and 12.1.
The UDS and PCo are on different servers and using different ports too.
I didn't find errors on netweaver about this, but I'll verify one more time.
On true, on version 12.0 of MII there is two connections with PI, one PCo and another UDS, that are using the same port. But this does not happen on the MII version 12.1, there I'm using different ports.
    Thank you very much!

  • Slow response time for HTTP requests

I have an 8310 Pearl. For the past week, I've noticed that the response time using the Internet browser was very slow. One work-around was to cancel the request and then submit it again. The second request returned the page MUCH faster.
I cleared my history, and this seemed to have helped. Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks

    Welcome to the forums
    Try a Battery Pull:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

  • EJB slow response time in cluster

We have 2 clusters : cluster 1(3 managed servers) and cluster2( 2 managed servers). We have an EJB deployed on cluster2 which is being called by an application on cluster1. Issue is that this EJB gives a very slow response time (in the order of minutes). There are no errors or exceptions in the logs.
When we shut down one of the nodes on cluster2, the respose from the same EJB is very fast. Please help as to where we should look out for the issue?

Could be that you have a network configuration problem. The source of the problem is how host names and IP addresses are resolved,
and there is a workaround. RMI and other naming services use the InetAddress class to obtain resolved host names and IP addresses.
InetAddress caches lookup results to improve subsequent calls, but when it is passed a new IP address or host name, it performs a
cross-reference between the IP address and the host name to prevent address spoofing. If you supply the host name as an IP address,
InetAddress still tries to verify the name of the host. To workaround this problem, include the host name and IP address in the
hosts file on the client, for example,
    127.0.0.1           localhost
    172.30.0.129      SomeWebLogicServerHostName
    172.30.0.130      SomeOtherWebLogicServerHostName

  • Why is Oracle Response time getting slow with time.

    Hi,
I have DB which was very fast initially with the response time for one of the query < 5 sec.
I have been using the DB for the last 15 days. Now the same query is taking 10 minutes. In the DB there are lot of operations of additions and deletions been done on the table where the query is being made. The no. of records in the table is constant at around 3 million records from the first day.
If I import the DB into a new setup then again the response time becomes very good in the new setup.
What should be the problem of the DB getting slow with the time.
    Thanks,
    Tuhin

It all depends on several factors.
Are your tables, indexes have upto-date statistics?
I have DB which was very fast initially with the response time for one of the query < 5 sec. Initially there might be small amount of data later data might have increased, you dont have proper indexes.
It could be that your indexes got fragmented to due to heavey deletes? It might need reorg.
My suggestion would to look into your execution plan of the quries and see where your kernals are waiting.
As other suggested you, use explain plan, event 10046 and tkprof.
