HT202159 Trouble downloading Lion

I purchased OSX Lion from the App store, and it started downloading fine.  Then however I got a message saying that it was unable to download the app and to check my internet connection.  The connection is fine.  and when I go back to the app store and go to purchased apps Lion is listed with a down;oad button, however when I click download it does nothing!
I am new to the Mac world so have no idea what to do next!

Hi Daryl ..
If you have anti virus software installed, disable that to download Lion.
Make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements.
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OSX v10.6.6 or later (V10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available spare
From here > Apple - OS X Lion - Technical specifications
Downloading and installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo reinstalls the App Store for you which may help.
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.8.
Restart your Mac after installing the combo, try re downloading Lion.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select Lion then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

  • Trouble downloading Lion

I were downloading Lion normally, but suddenly it crash. Then it restart normally but i can't find the installer in the dock, or the finder, or the desktop. I don't know if when the download finishes, i will have the file or the installer to install Lion.
Also, i have another Mac and i need to update to Lion. I read that if i download Lion with an Apple ID, i can use the same ID to install it in another Mac. So, if i use my Apple ID (the one which previously download Lion) in another Mac, i can use it to install Lion? By holding Alt and then double clicking on "Installed", it download the installer again, that's right?

You need to purchase enough RAM so that your computer has at least 2GB, and free up about 20GB of disk space on the internal drive.

trying to download this at the same time? I let it sit al night yestrday with the same results.

I had the same problem.  First go to the purchases tag at the top of the app store.  Pause and then resume the download.  If that doesn't work you can follow the advice I got on the phone which was to drag the lion icon from the dock to the trash, empty the trash (it didn't even register as putting anything in the trash for me, just don't have lion in there), then go to purchases in the app store and restart the download.  Mine is coming along at the expected speed now.

I recently downloaded mountain lion and just had it emailed to me but I'm having trouble downloading it to my computer. I cannot find the button that says "redeem" under quick links.

You must have a minimum of OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed on your Mac to have the Mac App Store. The Quick Links are on the Featured pane.

No, I don't know about that kind of software. It isn't Pages anyway. You need somekind of database.

  • Trouble downloading the Mountain Lion app

I have been waiting for about 20 minutes and the app hasn't even downloaded yet. It has not moved at all. I know my mac is compatible because it is a MacBook Air that I bought in December. Any tips, suggestions, or possible answers to my problem would be greatly appreciated.

Patience.  It only just became available

This is what I said about downloading Lion, and I wouldn't be surprised if the same is true of Mountain Lion:
A 5 Mbps internet connection can download Lion in 2 hours.  A 768Kbps connection can download it in 13 hours.  These times do not including installation time, or variabilities in connection speeds from a non-dedicated connection, or background application usage of the internet.  Any applications running when the installation process begins might interfere with the installation itself, and they should be quit first.  It is unknown at the present time if each individual computer will have to download it separately on the same connected Local Area Network, or if imaging of the downloaded file will be allowed for distribution on certain sized Local Area networks in certain settings (schools, businesses, and homes).  This is a question one should post or look for on Apple Support Communities, to determine if there are any limitations.

  • Downloading trouble for lion - it says paused - where do i go to resume?

trying to download lion. it sits at the dock and says paused. where do i go to resume the download? many thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. This you find a solution?

  • Trouble re-downloading Lion

My computer had crashed and the Geniuses at the Apple Store wiped it clean and set me up with Snow Leopard. Their instructions were to re-download Lion through my App Store and then continue on to Maverick. It's been 3 days of struggling to download Lion. It'll claim to need anywhere from 4 hours to 2 days to download the OS. About a half an hour into the download, it'll quit from an unexpected error. The only thing I have running at the time of the downloads has been Facebook.
I've tried resetting my airport/WiFi. I went into ~/Library/Application Support/App Store and deleted everything inside of it in hopes to kickstart the download. I tried pausing it and resuming. It's kind of frustrating the frick right out of me.

You are not alone, but I'm sure that is of little comfort.
If you qualify for Mavericks, you might consider upgrading to Mavericks.
You can verify your applications run under Mavericks here:  http://roaringapps.com/
    OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
              ▪          iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
              ▪          MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
              ▪          MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
              ▪          MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
              ▪          MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
              ▪          Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
              ▪          Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
              ▪          Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
              ▪          OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
              ▪          2 GB or more of memory  <-----personally I thing is way too low. I recommend a minimum of 4GB but 8GB is better
              ▪          8 GB or more of available space

  • HT202159 Problems downloading OS X Mountain Lion?

Hi there. Just purchased OS X Mountain Lion today. Tried download app 3 times. Every time when about 96% download was done got error and message "download can't be completed". Had to start fron scratch again. A d because this file is more than 4Gb, it was kind of pain. I don't know what is goin on. My IMac has enough room on hard drive. Memory is 16Gb. No problem at all. Mac Keeper 2012 shows me that all is perfect. What can be a problem?
Would appreciate any advice, because got stock in the middle of process.

Mac Keeper 2012 shows me that all is perfect.
    MacKeeper is the problem.
So called cleaning utilities on a Mac can do more harm than good. Your Mac runs maintenance for you.

  • I submitted my information into the 'uptodate' program to download Lion OSX and it verified that I was able to get the upgrade but then nothing happened. How can I get the upgrade without having to pay for it?

When I tried to go back through and do it again, it gives me and error that says that my serial number has already been registered to the uptodate program and it wont allow me to continue any further. Is there a place I can go in my computer to find it and start the download? I got all the way to the point where I submitted my purchase (for free) and then as soon as I did that, nothing started...

Is this for a new MacBook Pro? If you are entitled to a free upgrade, but are having trouble with the Mac App Store and can't download Lion, call Applecare and explain the situation and see if they can help you. It's always possible that the Mac App Store has been extra busy lately and for some reason may not have processed your request properly.
First, though, check in your applications folder to be sure that the installer isn't already there. It's called "Install Mac OS X LIon.app". Step one is to download the installer. Step two is to run it. It will vanish from your Application folder after it runs, so if you want to make a copy of the installer, make one before you run it.
    Good luck!

  • Downloaded Lion, but got error message and can no longer find it in my App Store purchases

I had previously purchased Lion from the App store for my iMac.  Today I went back to the App Store to download Lion onto my MacBook which is running Leopard 10.6.8.  At the end of the download I received an error message.  So I restarted my computer and went back to the App store to try again.  Now Lion doesn't show up in my purchases for download.  I can't find Lion on my computer either.  What can I do?

No, I don't.  Called Apple and they did some trouble shooting.  Turns out I had hidden my Lion purchase in the App Store by inadvertently clicking on the "x" beside the download/resume button.  Once unhidden, I was able to download and install.
    Thanks for asking.
    Cheers.

  • Greetings, I have been trying to download Lion but unfortunately in pauses during download and will not continue.  All of the specs seem to be in line for what is needed to download. thanks

    Hello
If anyone has any info on downloading Lion would be greatly appreciated.  The download is in a constant state of pause.  I cannot get it out of the pause phase into active download.  Anyone having similar trouble?
    thx

See if either of these two things help.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again.

  • Trouble with Lion and opening applications

I recently downloaded Lion and now iTunes and other various applications won't open, it shows an error message. Can I uninstall Lion or how do I make these applications open?

    dwb wrote:
I don't think having iTunes on the desktop is going cause this trouble but like Marc, I wonder what it is doing there?
It's not iTunes being specifically out on the desktop, but once the user thinks it's OK to start randomly changing things, it's better to try to get a list of what they have changed rather than guessing.
At least that's been my experience.
In this specific case, iTunes won't launch because the framework it's trying to find inside the app bundle isn't there.  It would be there if the user hadn't been twisting knobs.
