HT203477 After i burn my project onto a blue ray disk and play it some scenes have bright silver lines flickering around the edges of some items on screen

After I burn my project from from FCPX onto a blue ray disk, in some scenes ther appears a flickering silver line or edge to some items such as aroiund faces or buildings etc

Precise information on your  workflow together with a possible "photograph" of the problem  would help with diagnosis.

  • If there ever was a NEW update for iMovie, will iMovie have the ability to burn projects onto a Blu-Ray disc so that customers don't have to pay for additional software like Final Cut Pro or Roxio Toast Titanium/Pro?

It would be helpful for those who are familier with iMovie to use Blu-Ray discs for burning and playing back their iMovie projects in HD. However, iMovie '11 doesn't have that special feature yet. I hear that 'Final Cut Pro X,' 'Roxio Toast 11 Titanium' and 'Roxio Toast 11 Pro' can copy projects like iMovie onto Blu-Ray, but it would take long periods of time to do that. Professional software, like FCP X and Toast, can be pricey.
I'm hoping that iMovie '11 will burn projects onto Blu-Ray, but will that ever come true?

Will iBlu-Ray be an upgrade? OR and update of iDVD?
If it's an upgrade, then that means you'd still pay for it from the Mac App Store. I wish it would only cost between $20-40.
If it's a free update of iDVD, but with the new name, that would be better than to go out and pay for things!!!
However, external Blu-ray recorders would still be required if you were going to burn an iMovie project onto a blu-ray disc.
Is there a way to put in a request for 'iBlu-Ray?'

  • Can i record onto a blue ray dvd from my imac?

Does anyone know the answer to this question. I downloaded a blue ray movie and bought a blank blue ray dvd to burn will this work?

Only with an External BluRay Burner and the appropriate third party software.

  • Is it possible to burn a slide show onto a Blu-ray DVD ?

Using PS8 Premier I could't burn my slide show ( no movies ) with music onto a Blu-ray DVD. The problem seems to be......low memory. ( my computer has 2 Gig but my project which doesn't seem that involved has over 4 or 5 Gig ). The reason I want to burn onto Blu-ray is to get a clearer project than I was able to on a regular DVD. I get a good slide show on my cpu monitor and also on a regular DVD in the smaller screen of the burner program but the project loses resolution when going to full screen. That is why I wanna try it on Blu-ray.

If you are going to BD, then I would start with a BD Preset. This ARTICLE will tell you the supported Frame Sizes, and FPS.
I would choose the 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 FPS Interlaced (NTSC), or 25 FPS Interlaced (PAL). I would then go to my original stills and Scale them to ~ 1920 x 1080 in PS/PSE. This ARTICLE will give you tips on doing that with automation in either image editing program. Import those Scaled Images into PrE, with the Duration that you feel is correct, depending on the "flow" of the SlideShow. Note: you can tweak that Duration for each Image, if needed, but by planning a bit, most will not need any tweaking. Then, add any Pans, or Zooms (Effect>Motion>Scale, and/or Motion>Position). Add any Transitions desired, and edit any Audio. Add the desired BD Menus and Chapter Markers (no Stop Marker at the end of the Timeline). This Project should burn to BD easily.
Good luck, and hope that it helps,
    Hunt
Note: in the first linked article, you will see that 20 FPS is not supported, and neither is 1 FPS. You can, of course, make the Duration of each Image 1 Frame, but will probably want the Image on-screen for longer, say 5 - 10 secs.

  • Create Blu-Ray: Encodes and burns only small section of movie

I have a late 2013 Mac Pro and I am trying to use compressor 4 to burn a Blu-Ray disc. My source is an Apple ProRes422 encoded Quicktime file (about 1h of video). After about 1 h of submitting the job, compressor displays the status as successful. When I test the disc, the beginning of the movie has indeed burned successfully but the disc contains only a short stretch of the movie. I check the encoded files and they are small (ca 300-500MB) which is telling me that only the beginning of the movie was encoded. How can I burn the whole movie onto a Blu-Ray successfully? What I am doing wrong?
Furthermore, I have several movies that I would like to burn onto one Blu-Ray. How can I do that with compressor other than putting them all into one project in final cut pro and exporting the project to compressor?
By the way all 8 movies burned successfully onto one Blu-Ray with Toast 11 using the same hardware. However, I would like to be able to achieve the same or better result with compressor 4.
    Thank you for your suggestions

You are probably not doing anything wrong. The FCP X and Compressor discussion boards have multiple threads from users who are either getting no output from Blu Ray encoding projects - or they get strange results, like very low bit rates, regardless of the settings. Long projects seem more likely to be affected. If you haven't tried it already, see whether you can make a disk image, which Toast should handel without re-encoding.
Not everyone has experienced these difficulties, but AFAIK, no one – on either forum – has come up with an explanation of why.
One of the workarounds has been one that you're already using – Toast. Others have subscribed to Adobe CC Premiere to her the Encore download. One suggestion – apparently originating from an Apple support person – was to use a high bit rate MPEG2 setting.
There have been several posts (from users) that Apple engineers are aware of the issue. I can't confirm that one way or the other.
If you want to put multiple movies on a disk using Compressor or FCP X(assuming the larger issue is somehow overcome) you would need to bring the finished movies into an editing program (including quicktime Pro) as clips, assemble them on a timeline (or track), insert a gap clip and chapter markers and titles for navigation. That's because the process only allows for one track.
The only other suggestion I can make is that if you have a system back up, then you can probably restore the previous versions of FCP X and/or Compressor. and use them for Blu Ray.
    Good luck.

  • Won't Burn Blu-Ray Disks

My brand new HP 16X SATA Blu-ray Writer (AR482AA) in my brand new z800 quit writing to Blu-Ray disks after just 12 disks. It did continue to write to other DVD/CD media, just not Blu-Ray. There is no support information to be found -- anywhere!!! (HP, are you listening?) So I was forced to fix it myself.
Tried different BR disks, uninstalling Roxio Business 10 and reinstalling, searched for system driver and firmware updates as well as non-existent information from all avenues I could think of. Sought out anomalies in the registry and looked for A/V, OS, and other updates corresponding with the timing of the failed burns.
The only thing I found was a Windows Defender update that loaded just a couple of minutes before the BR burning failed. That may or may not have contributed to the failure. No way to tell as unfortunately, the update "cannot be uninstalled." Couldn't find any corresponding information at Microsoft as well (Microsoft, are you listening?)
However, I was able get the Blu-Ray burning again, just not sure if it is realy fixed or if it will reoccur. The solution was to go into the device manager and uninstall the Blu-Ray drive (but leave the Roxio installed). Then, simply restarted and let the system find and install the BR drive again. Everything works great...for now....from a 5 minute fix.
Sure would like to have that day of my life back!!!
    Note -- OS = 64-bit Ent. Vista

I am also having problems with my new Hp pavilion dv6. It will burn the disks but at poor quality. I can't get my samsung blu ray player to play it at all. The video plays back on my Hp dv6 but is broken up. Is this the problems you were having? I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if its Hp's problem. I have taken video with my Sony HD camcorder and am trying to burn the movies onto blu rays. I have been using Verbatim BD-R 25GB 6X Blu rays. Any help would be great!

  • Device error when burning Blu Ray disk at 96%

Very simple program to use so far. Just drag and drop.
My current project was shot in HD 1080p about 2 hours or 13 gig long and I made 4 lower resolution DVD's no problem.  I like how it shrunk it with out me having to do anything other than check the box (use space available)
However when I went to make Blu Rays in addition to taking about 18 hours its gets right to the end and spits the disk out unfinished and has device error at about 96% of burning finished. Disk will not play.
I have ruined 3 blank  4x blu ray disks so far, same result.  I have down loaded and installed the 8.01 update, I will turn off the screen saver and anything else I can find, before I try it again.
Its a new computer with only PE8 running on it.  Quad core Gateway with 8 gig ram and a almost empty 1tb hard drive and LG blue ray writer.
I have not tried to burn anything else with the blu ray writer, as thats what PE8 was for.
I did not have the timeline fully rendered before I started, if that makes any difference.
    Anybody have any ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

Sorry I'm a newby. I'll put this is PRE 8 where it belongs.

  • Burning Blu-ray disks.  Third party hardware needed?

I have read from earlier posts that it is not possible to burn Blu-ray© disks from DVDSP. Can third party hardware be purchased to burn such a disk having assembled the digital assets in DVDSP? Any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance.
    G5 Quad Desktop   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thanks for your responses. I see that from DVD SP Late-Breaking news that'HD DVD projects authored by DVD SP 4.0.3 fully comply with the 1.0 version of he HD DVD specification...the new HD DVD standard. The disks will play on Apple DVD Player version 4.6.5 or later.
I haven't commited to the Blu-ray© player, just the Sony HD camcorder.
When the time comes, I will burn to a red laser disc per the Apple recommendation. And thanks for the Roxio link which makes it clear that a PC is needed for Blu-ray©

  • How to burn Blu-ray disk from Encore?

My project was shot and edited in HD. The camera was a Sony AX2000 1920 X 1080 60i the highest resolution for the camera. The project has been exported to Encore (CS5.5 Production Premium)and is on the timeline there. How do I get in touch with "Chat" to get phone help to go from where I am to burning a Blu-ray disk? When I try to email Adobe Help I am routed round and round back to same place and I can never find anyplace to send an email to Adobe to ask a support question. When I click on "Help" from Premiere Pro or Encore the explanations use frequent links to videos elsewhere for explanations and none of the links are functional! Why is that? I can't find an explanation online or in Adobe's Classroom in a book or anywhere. I would appreciate some links to videos explaining the process or some basic instructions. Thank you.

Encore also has a very active forum too: http://forums.adobe.com/community/encore/encore_general

  • Burning a blue ray disk

I imported a movie from my Camcorder Canon HV 10, edited it in a MacAir, stored it in an external hard drive. Is there a way to burn a blue ray DVD such as using a Dell computer with blue ray drive and "import" the Apple edited movie?
    Many thanks!!

    Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
As you're writing about Blu-Ray, my guess is that you shot your video in hi-def HDV.
When you import HDV into iMovie, it's converted into Apple's Intermediate Codec so that it can be edited (..the compressed HDV format isn't editable unless it's converted, as there are "compressed" frames in HDV - like in AVCHD - which don't really exist until they're -e-x-p-a-n-d-e-d- back into real video frames).
When you've finished editing, the movie can be saved in a variety of different formats; e.g: .mov (QuickTime), H.264 (another 'compressed' format which plays well on various devices, and is the format which Blu-Ray discs use), standard-def DV, and various others.
So you'd need to check what the Blu-Ray burning software ..on your Dell.. needs in order to burn a BD disc ..does it require the video in H.264, or does it convert whatever you give it to H.264..? You'd have to read the specs of the burning program ..'Toast', or whatever you're using.
Note that if you've stored it on an Apple formatted external disc (..formatted as Mac OS Extended, rather than in a PC's FAT32 format..) then the Dell probably can't read that material off the external disc, and you'd have to copy it across to the Dell itself. And if the external disc was formatted for a PC, in FAT32 format, then it's possible that in storing the video on that external disc (..you don't say whether the iMovie project was on that disc, or if just the 'Exported' final edit of the movie to that disc..) some aspect of it may have become lost, as iMovie prefers Mac-formatted hard discs, so that "metadata" belonging to various files can be stored along with the actual video data.
So check and see if the Dell can access that disc, and your movie, OK, and then check to see what format of video your BD-burning program on the Dell requires.
Incidentally, I wonder how you got your video from the HV10 into your MacBook Air, as there's no FireWire connection on an MBA, and the Canon would need a FireWire connection to get the video - whether on miniDV tape or HDV tape - from the camcorder to the Mac..
..So how did you do it? ..Or was it first imported into a different Mac, and then simply copied to the MBA..?

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes or iPhone forums.

  • Burn Blu-ray disk?

Can I burn a Blu-ray disk on my Apple desktop without buying a special burner? I can burn regular DVDs, and view them on my laptop but not my Blu-ray player.  I only want a couple DVDs from our son's wedding.

    No.
You can only burn standard DVD's and  they should play on a BluRay device.
You must be burning a "data" DVD as they will only play on a computer. Use iDVD to create a DVD.

  • MacPro blue ray internal  and external burner

I have Prostudio 2 and the latest updates on my quad core 3.0.
I want to be able to burn blue ray DVDs and was wondering what is the best buy for a internal blue ray drive?
Can I burn a Blue Ray DVD using Toast 8 or is it not required?

    You're very welcome.
I have never burned a movie with mine but I have burned large 3+ GB ISO images using CD Burner XP, and it takes just a few minutes.
Now, if you mean can you insert a disk in one drive, and copy that disk via the other drive using the same program set to copy or grab disk, that should be possible.
It should show one drive as the one to copy from and one to copy to, just like if you had two DVD drives in a desktop PC.
If you are asking can you simultaneously burn two different files on two different burners using the same program at the same time, that I have no clue. I guess you would have to try it and find out.  You would open the program and burn one file to a disk and open the program again and burn another file to the other DVD burner. If the program won't let you open two instances of it at the same time, then you probably could open a different DVD burning program such as the one I posted above and use that to burn the other files with.

  • Burning speed for Blue Ray Disks (Elements 11)

    Hi,
is it possible to reduce the burning speed for Blue Ray Disks ? (and how)
I believe that Elements 11 always use the maximal possible buring speed of the inserted medium.
Background: my BD player (Bang & Olufson TV with integrated BD player) is able to read/play a maxell BD-RE 25GB (1-2x) i burned. Unfortunately I can not play a burned Verbatim BD-R 25GB (6x) - only sometimes he play parts of it. Both mediums i burned with the same content, from the same file ( xxx.prel) and with the same parameters.
Thanks for informations and your answer.
    Wolfgang

This is not a feature of Premiere Elements.
To get this feature, you'll need to use a third-party program, like the excellent DVD Architect Studio, a $39 download from Sony Creative Software.

  • Burning Blue Ray Disks!

ok so im proberbly going to look like a total retard but i recently got an application called Toast and it said tha ti can burn blue ray disks! i personally disagree as i dont have a blue ray burner! im correct in thinking this right?
    i have a 20inch iMac 2.0Ghz
please dont mock me heheheh xD

In other words are you saying that the OS must be able to support Blue Ray in order to read the media reliably. Reason I chimed in is I have a Lacie D2 blue ray drive and it burns blue ray discs (single and dual layer) fine, but now some of the discs won't read. Some of them will read when inserted but most of the dual layer discs/some single layer discs aren't recognized. I'm using the discs for archiving. Let me know your thoughts...thanks!
