My Mac, iPhone, and iPad using the same iCloud account are available with Find My iPhone when logged in to my iCloud account via webmail access using a browser, and the same when using the Find My iPhone app.
I cannot add another iPhone with a different iCloud account to access with Find My iPhone under my iCloud account.

The Apple TV is not a DVD player. So if you do not already own a player, then yes you will have to purchase one to view them on your TV.

Myself and my brother have been sharing the same apple id for all the itunes purchases. We both have iphone 4. Since the introduction of icloud, we are little confused about the id managing process. Yesterday, we both updated our iOS to iOS 5. And, just after installing iOS 5, we were asked to enter apple id and password. We both entered the same id and password. Now both are iphones have overlapping contacts and other stuff.
Now, we have deciced that we want to make separate apple id's for ourselves i.e we want different apple id's for our iclouds (plus game center) and same apple id's for all our itunes purchases (if we are allowed to do that).
So now we have no idea how to do this after once entering the same id during iOS 5 installation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're wanting to share content between multiple apple ids in the family I would suggest to use iTunes match.

Adding a domain user to the admin role within the local user management breaks all metro apps for all users!!

I have posted this in another large thread under the "Windows 8 General" group but have not had any appropriate feedback from MS.
After hours of testing and working with other users I have managed to isolate a simple situation that breaks all metro ui applications within Windows 8 for all users on the machine. Here are my exact steps and notes.
Before continuing if you are running Avast then your solution may be to turn of the behaviour shield functionality as this also breaks metro apps. This is NOT the problem we are having!
I have performed 3 cleans installs after isolating the problem and am able to reproduce the issue every time using the same steps on two different machines.
First thing to say is that for us it has nothing to do with simply joining the domain, domain/group policies nor does it appear to have anything to do with the software we installed, the problem here is much more simple but the result is pretty terrible.
Here are my exact steps of what I did to reproduce our problem:
Complete format of HDD in preperation for a clean install
Clean install performed
Set up the machine initially with a local account
Test metro apps - all working fine
Open control panel from the desktop, click on System, change the system to join the domain, click reboot
Log into the system using my domain account
Test metro apps - all working fine
Here's were the problem starts. I need my domain account to have admin rights on the local machine so I can install programs without the IT men having to come over and enter their password every 5 mins.
I go to control panel via the desktop and click on User Accounts. From with here I then click on "Manage User Accounts". This requires the IT guys to enter their details to give me access to such functionality. This is fine
In the dialog box that opens I can only see the local user that was initially created during setup. The "Group" for this local account shows as "Administrators" - Image included below (important to note that metro apps are working at this point)
I click add and then add my domain account - also giving it administrator access
Sign off or reboot to ensure the new security is applied
Sign back in to the domain account
Test metro - ALL BROKEN
Sign out
Sign in as local account
Test Metro - NOW ALL BROKEN FOR THIS USER ALSO
So as soon as I add my domain account to the local user accounts and set it as admin it breaks all metro apps for all users. This is on a totally clean install with nothing at all installed other than the OS.
Annoyingly if I go back and change the domain account to a standard user or if I totally remove the domain account from the local account management system the problem does not go away for either user. basically it is now permanently broken. The only fix I
could fathom was a full re install and not giving the domain user admin access to the local machine.
Screen one - this is the local user accounts window AFTER joining the domain and logging in with my domain account (All metro apps working at this point)
Screen 2: User accounts AFTER joining the domain and AFTER adding domain account to local user management (METRO BROKEN)
I have isolated my machine from all group policies so nothing like that is affecting me. Users I have spoken to in different companies have policies that automatically add users to the local user management. This means that metro apps break as
soon as they join the domain which leads them to wrongly think it is group policies causing the error. Once they isolate themselves from this they can reproduce following my steps.

Thank you for the response and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. My machine was running a long task so I couldn't try your suggested solution.
I had already tried running the registry merge suggested at the top of the thread to no avail. I had not tried deleting the OLE key totally so I did that and the problem still exists. I will post all the errors I see in event viewer below. For
your info, since posting my initial comment I have sent out my steps to 7 different people and we can all reproduce the problem. This comes to 10 different machines (3 of them mine then the other guys) in 3 different businesses / domains. We see the same errors
in event viewer.
Under "Windows Logs" --> "Application" : I get two separate error events the first reads "Activation of app winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store failed with error: The app didn't start. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional
information." The second arrives in the log about 15 seconds after the first and reads "App winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store did not launch within its allotted time."
Under "Windows Logs" --> "System" : I get one error that reads "The server Windows.Store did not register with DCOM within the required timeout."
Under "Applications And Services Logs" --> "Microsoft" --> "Windows" --> "Apps" --> "Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational" : I get one error that reads "Activation of the app winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store for the
Windows.Launch contract failed with error: The app didn't start."

I have two users on my macbook. I use entourage for personal organisation and i would like to share this entourage calendar with the two users. To make it more clear: Every user should see the same entourage calendar. How can manae to get this result? Is there some button in the system settings, that i need to push?

Credential manager to see credentials stored for all users?

Is there a way to see and manage credentials stored for all users on a server (we use 2008 R2) rather than just the user who logs on and uses credential manager (or the cmdkey command)? We have users using three terminal servers and some of them store
incorrect creds (wrong username or password), so would be good for myself as domain admin, if I could go to the servers myself, and remove any credentials that OTHER users have stored.

The cached credential are stored in a special location in the registry. (an example there;

I doubt you can manipulate the string directly as it's encrypted (possibly "salted" with the user token), but maybe their is some workaround that I don't know of. (edited; to erase it's surelly easily doable)

HELP needed on Remote Management set to allow access for all users

my mac mini snow leopard server runs in a data center and i use screen sharing to interact with it. i played with the sharing settings remotely yesterday and changed "allow access for" to all users. i was disconnected immediately and i couldn't logon again. i have no luck changing to other users. i don't want to make a special trip to the center to change it back to whatever it used to be. i can still use afp to connect but the screen sharing option is no longer available. what does "allow access for all users" mean anyway?

As its name implies, allow access for all should allow any valid user account to access the server. I'm not sure why it's no longer working. It almost sounds like the ARDAgent crashed.
Either way there's a command-line interface to the ARD preferences:
/System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/ki ckstart
man kickstart discusses the options, including examples of how to enable access for specific users.

File system management when sharing photos/music with other users in Mac OS

I'm a new convert from the Windows world. I'm trying to setup multiple accounts for each user within my household. However, I'd like us to all share the same set of folders for photos within iPhoto and music in iTunes. Is it best to just used the "shared" folder instead of keeping them in the standard home directory and trying to share those folders with other users? What is the best approach to this. I would imagine most people do this for managing their music if not photos as well. Just trying to learn best practice on the file system management before I copy over gigs of files from my old PC.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. This might help with iPhoto.
There are two ways to share, depending on what you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. then:
Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
Finally: If you’re comfortable in the Terminal, and understand File Permissions, ACL’s etc., some folks have reported success using the process outlined here . (Note this page refers to 10.4, but it should also work on 10.5). If you’re not comfortable with the terminal, and don’t know an ACL from the ACLU, then you’re best doing something else... Oh, and the warning about simultaneous users still applies.

I chose to purchase a MacMini Intel model to hookup to my 36 inch Sony TV.
I chose this model for several reasons as I also have a Web Camera hooked up to it at the same time via Firewire. I use Front Row and iTunes to distribute music throughout the house wirelessly to other stereos and to view what is playing now via the TV.

The photos aren't that great but you get the idea. The TV screen looks great in person as opposed to the photos with the glare and the darkness.
Some TV's don't look as good as my TV looks from what I have heard so your TV may or may not look as good. I am about to upgrade to a 42 inch Panasonic HD Plasma TV which should give an even better picture. At this time, my TV is connected to the MacMini via the "S-Video" cable. The HDMI video cable is a better choice if your TV has that capability.
The new iTV from Apple is rumored to be released sometime this coming Spring.

How to manage two users?

I would like help with a very basic question. We have a MacPro, a new iMac, and a MacBook, each of which has a user account for myself and for my wife. I am considering buying an iPad to use when we travel instead of the MacBook. I understand that with an iPad one cannot establish two or more user accounts as can be done on a computer. However, is there a reasonably convenient way for two people to share an iPad? Specifically, could each access their iCloud based accounts for contacts and calendars? I use .Mac mail, but my wife uses Hotmail, so there is not a problem there. Bookmarks would probably also be a problem. On the computers I use Safari and my wife uses Firefox, but I understand that Firefox will not run on an iPad. Traveling with two iPads would defeat my goal of lighter; in that case I may as well stick with the MacBook. Any clarifications of how an iPad would or would not work for us will be greatly appreciated.

Your understanding is correct. Only one iCloud account can be on the iPad at any given time. And the only way to change to another one would be to delete the one that was there initially, so really not something you'd want to do.
You are also correct about the browser - Firefox does not have a browser version that will run on an IOS device - so no Firefox on the iPad.
Like the iPhone, the iPad is not a multi-user device. So maybe you will need to stick with the Mac.
One suggestion, however, if you are looking for lighter - not sure what type of Mac you have, but if you do not have the Macbook Air, I would say you might want to look into an 11" version of the Air. It is small, light, and very portable....

When I set up my mac pro I started setting up a user account. Then I used merge assistant and it created a second account. I want to merge the two accounts or delete one of them

Go to system preferences>users & groups. Highlight the one you wish to delete and hit the minus sign at the bottom. I do not know of a way to merge them.
