You should certainly be able to add content by reference to itunes from such a disk (even before the update) - so long as itunes knows the location of the file (set Preferences not to copy to local library when adding the media) it will stream it to AppleTV if the disk is available.
I hope you're right, but I'd be surprised if current Extremes can be upgarded to provide a full Home Sharing service - marvellous if they can but I'd be surprised as i've long said we need an Apple media server either based on TC or AE to do this kind of thing.

Why do my itunes downloaded movies get stuck during streaming when my other accounts, i.e. netflix and amazon prime have no problems?

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer. -

No, you need to be in the UK with a UK billing address on your account to use the UK store
You can try requesting that the English language versions be added to your country's store (you've checked to see if the film's description page says if it has alternative languages on it ?), but unless the film studio/rights-holder agrees to it then Apple won't be able to sell them there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html -
i was charged for a movie that never was downloaded, i asked for it but the conection was too slow and I never was able to have the movie that i asked for...how can i get it without being charged again, who could remove the chage from my Crecit card?
You may not be able to get a refund, since the terms of sale for the iTunes Store state that all sales are final. You can contact the iTunes Store, explain the reason for your request, and ask, though:

It's possible they'll make an exception for you, particularly if the problem was on their end preventing the movie from downloading in a reasonable time.

What do I do when I'm half way through a movie on Apple TV. The movie then quits. We go back on to the movie home page and it says you have already rented this movie, please go to settings, then downloads and select downloads but we can't find downloads

after clicking "yes" to the question "do you want to update itunes now", i waited 2 hours and 15 minutes and it was still "loading". i turned computer off thinking something was wrong. now itunes won't open at all. do i need to download itunes again?
Did you actually download the installer from Apple or did you use Software Update. You can download the installer http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would consider repairing permissions first using Disk Utility because something caused this to go wrong the first time. And of course make a backup of your whole library first. It shouldn't happen but some have complained about their libraries being wiped out by iTunes updates. Better safe... -

What can I do to fix this please?Most movies have Dolby surround sound. Seems like you don't have all sound channels coming out of your speakers.
Is the AppleTV connected to a receiver or to a TV?
If you have a receiver that supports dolby surround you should configure the sound settings of the Apple TV and receiver accordingly.
If it's connected to a TV the audio setting "Dolby Digital" in the Apple TV should be set to off. -

I download movies and when I reach the full size, like 4.01 GB for an HD movie, it does not say "done" but Error Code= -36
What do you think about turning File Vault off?
I'd first make a copy or backup of that Home folder first, then I'd never use Filevault again.
Is it possible the disk could be failing but Disk Utility not pick anything up?
Yes, DU just checks Directory structure, and not all that well at that, it is possible that there are bad blocks/sectors on the HD right where that Home Folder is located.
And finally, where is a good place to find interpretations of those cryptic error codes?!
